We saw the Amana French-door bottom-freezer fridge about a year ago and fell in love with it. As it turns out, we have had a fairly mixed experience with it.

I''ll say that there are quite a few things that we like about it. Overall, we like the layout and flexibility of this fridge a lot. All of the shelves are adjustable to allow for customizing the space for what we need. The layout makes the fridge feel bigger than the other 25 CF fridges we''ve used or looked at. The quality of the ice maker and water filtration is nice. I do find the bottom-freezer a nice feature for our family. The best feature of the French-doors for us is that they don''t swing open as wide as conventional doors, which is good for energy usage and for not blocking passage through our tight kitchen. They''re also convenient when you have to grab something quick out of the door.

That said, after using it a while, there are a few things that we don''t like about this fridge:

1) After a few months of use, it started getting kind of loud. As it turns out, this was the sound of the cooling fan dying. When it finally died, we had no cold air in the fridge compartment. It was still under warranty, but I wasn''t happy about replacing the fan after only about 7 months. (It''s still occasionally louder than I''d prefer, but most of the time it is OK.)

2) The water filter dispenser is on the inside of the fridge compartment rather than on the outside of the unit. Combined with the fact that its flow is a little on the slow side, it seems to me that a lot of energy is wasted each time I have to leave the door open for 30 seconds to get a glass of water.

3) The top cover of the Chef''s Pantry drawer is not the highest quality component. It pops off once every two weeks or so for me (though, in fairness, my wife doesn''t report this problem, so it might just be me). It''s easy to put back on, but something I don''t feel that I should have to worry about with a $1600 fridge.

Overall, we probably would buy the same fridge again. I''d probably pass on the water filtration option until they figure out a way to get access from the outside of the fridge. I''d probably also want to make sure to get the extended warranty.

We have owned this fridge for less than 2 years and it recently broke down. We lost all the contents of the fridge ($100''s) and the repair cost us over $200. The problem was the evaporator fan. I read the warrantee and it claimed to cover the evaporator. When I called Amana to get the repair covered they told me that they only cover the evaporator coil, not the fan. The manual and warrantee document did not make this distinction. Even so, this is not an inexpensive fridge and it should go more than 2 years without breaking down. Shame on Amana for not standing behind this product and shame on Amana for hiding behind shades of warrantee language.

I''ve had this unit for almost exactly two years and am disappointed in its performance. You have to open the French doors to get to the water dispenser. I think this feature wastes energy and creates the potential for problems. I found this review page because I was checking to see if there were recalls on this model. In two years, I have replaced the fan that delivers cool air from the freezer to the refrigerator twice. Stay away from this model.

How did I ever get along without a filtered water dispenser? And an ice maker?

This Amana refrigerator is simply the best. We have owned ours for about a year. In that time, its operation has been flawless. Its size and convenient features make for large capacity storage and easy use.

The pros:

An internal filtered water dispenser, which is hooked up to the house''s water supply, provides for fresh cold water at any time (and the filter is easy to change).

An ice maker that works quickly. One day''s ice production lasts me almost a week (I don''t have kids). An added benefit: the ice maker is hooked up to the filtered water system.

The French doors, which provide lots of storage space. You get the convenience of a side-by-side, but without loosing all that space.

The chef''s pantry drawer. A really nice feature. It has its own temperature control, and is normally colder than the rest of the fridge. Great for storing meats, cheeses, and eggs.

Easy-to-adjust temperature controls keep overall temperature consistent, both in the fridge and freezer.

The large capacity freezer, which pulls straight out. We have plenty of room to stock up, and it''s convenient on the bottom. The top bin slides out for easy access. The bottom bin pulls out when you open the door.

Crisper drawers that really keep things crisp.

Four adjustable spill-saver shelves made of easy-to-clean tempered glass.

Five adjustable door bins that have lots of room. They have rubber bottoms that come out for easy cleaning.

The lonely, and only, little con:

The location of the on/off arm for the ice maker is a little inconvenient. It''s on the left side in the back of the freezer. The premise is that when the ice bin is full, the arm will rise and snap to the off position. If I ever let the fridge make that much ice, it would last me a year. I find myself snapping it on/off manually, and it''s a little awkward to reach.

Overall, this refrigerator is superior to any I have owned in the past. For me, it was like going from the smallest compact car to a large SUV (but it''s still an energy saver!). Highly recommended.

We''ve had this refrigerator for just over 1-1/2 years. It has broken down once (right after the warranty expired) same issue as others had (the fan). Is is noisy. The freezer handle has broken off completely once, and has popped off again since being repaired. The interior drawer cover is worthless. The stainless steel is of poor quality and is easily dented (even dropping an ice cube on the top of the freezer drawer is enough to create a dent. One of the worst appliance decisions I''ve ever made.

Keurig Single Serve Coffee and Tea Brewing System Select B77

While it worked, it was a great machine. The coffee was great and so was the hot chocolate. Very convenient for the whole family. I even found K-cups at my local Stop and Shop grocery store for only 5.99 for a box of 12.

I received this for Christmas and it stopped working on New Year''s day. Machine rumbles displaying "Not Ready" then shuts off. After keeping it powered off for about an hour it started working again, but then konked out, once again, mid brew. I wrote to customer service on Keurig''s website and didn''t get a reply after 5 days, so I called their 866 number.

After waiting on hold for approx. an hour for a technician, I was told that I was not allowed to wait any longer on hold and that they would call me back after 24 to 48 hours. The person I spoke to said that they have had an influx of calls with this problem since Christmas. Must be a bad batch that went out. I was also told that if they had replied by email, they would have told me to call, so don''t waste your time with email.

I purchased the machine from Costco, but no longer have the box, so I don''t know if I can return to them. If I am not able to get any satisfaction from Keurig, I will try going back to Costco. I will update this review with the final status of this problem.

1/10/10 update: I had to wait 3 days for a technician to call me back. The technician told me to use a paper clip and make sure the top and bottom spouts were clear and we ran through several hot water cycles on different cup settings.

I don''t know if this ''fixed'' the problem because at that point it had been working again. The tech. said that the hot cocoa cups could clog the spouts (although I do run a hot water cycle after each hot cocoa cup is ''brewed''). She also said there may be a problem with the separate filter that allows me to use my own coffee as opposed to their K-Cups. After her call, I stopped using the hot cocoa and the separate filter and so far have not had any problems.

1/26/10 updateThe machine started shutting off yet again. I contacted customer service and they promptly told me that they would send me a new machine. The new machine is working perfectly (so far) and the "motor" definitely sounds different. I am hopeful. I had to send them a part from the old machine within 30 days in order to not be charged for the new machine.

When it works, this really is a great machine and so convenient. I hope I got a good one this time around.

Update 11/2011 The machine has been working really well, but stopped working in November, almost 2 years later. Out of warantee, but Keurig still replaced the machine at no cost to me :) Very happy with their customer service, and still loving my machine.

I too loved the unit... while it worked. Went through two units, both ended up being returned to Costco after repeatedly shutting off. I want to buy another Keurig since these things are great when they work, but am a little gun shy now.

I will wait and see if they get these straightened out. Don''t even bother rolling the dice on this one... it''s not a great deal if it doesn''t work!!!

Definitely a Keurig design issue. I am on #3 and about to return this one too. The problem I have had with the machine is the constant turning off and unable to make 2 cups in a row. On this machine if I re-seat the water dispenser after each cup it will keep working. I just don''t want to go through this exercise any more. I love the K-cup idea and the coffee is good. This machine is the pits.

I got this system for the tough Tijuana water which is microbiologically clean, but has too much chemicals and low water pressure. The installation went straight forward and took about 90 minutes. My only con (thus 4 stars) is the instructions had many errors but with a little common sense I figure it all out. After 3 full tank cycles the water came out crystal clear and with no taste or smell. Just remember to test your water pressure before you buy. Most RO systems need 40 to 50 psi to work. Mine was around 55 so no booster pump needed. Overall, great little well built system.

I had been using a GE two stage system for several years and the shutoff valve started to leak. After many attempts to repair it and finding out the part was $135.00 plus tax and shipping I decided to replace the whole system. I was happy with the GE and its quality seemed ok. I had a plumber install the GE because some parts of the installation was really difficult.. attaching the lines to the faucet was a nightmare, partly because of the design and partly because of its hard to reach location. I installed the Watt myself. It was a straightforward process and took about an hour. The hoses and connectors on the Watt seemed better.. and the overall quality of the Watt system seemed as good or better than the GE. The water quality is great.. I had paid $250 for the GE system several years ago.. the Watt was $169.. and its a three stage system vs a two.. and.. the water holding tank is bigger. I am very happy with this product. I only gave it 4 stars because they do not provide a filter wrench with the product. They say you get one when you buy a filter pack.

We just purchased the Watt 4-Stage filter. We were concerned about the difficulty of installation and quality of water. The installation was easier than we thought probably because my husband actually read the directions first (don''t tell him I said that, apparently reading the directions is considered a sign of weakness). We were also concerned about how the water would taste. We live in Southern California and the water is horrible. Neither one of us could drink it from the tap and had to order bottled water. The filtered water is now sweet and great tasting. The only annoying thing is the hissing sound it makes after filling a glass. That is why I only gave it 4 stars. If this will bother you I would suggest a different filter. Overall great water for the price!

This is an awesome little RO system. When set up properly it makes "NO noise" and is completely silent! We set this little system up in our RV. It fits nicely under the sink and there is still plenty of room for necessities. To make the system silent, all you have to do is by-pass the "Air Gap" portion of the faucet by not utilizing the RED and BLACK lines on the faucet. This gets rid of the hissing sound that plagues some of these faucets. All you need is the BLUE line from the tank to the faucet. Also, I mounted the "Drain Saddle" to the vent pipe under the sink. This puts the water/brine from the "RED Waste Water" line into the drain pipe behind the grease trap. By mounting the saddle in this fashion, crud cannot back up into the "Drain Saddle" and the "running water" or "gurgling" sound cannot be heard because it is not mounted in the sink drains. The only part I needed to do this was a "Union" that I picked up at Home Depot for $3.50. Watts part #109. This "Union" is to join the 1/4" RED line and 3/8" BLACK line together before the 3/8" BLACK line goes into the "Drain Saddle".

The water out of this little system is great and I would recommend it to anyone! Because it is made by Watts, it should be easy to find filters in the years to come.

Installation was pretty easy, though the instructions are highly unprofessional. I really expect a company of this size to be able to print illustrations in the correct resolution. The diagrams in these instructions looked as if they had been printed from a low resolution GIF image on the web and then photocopied into the book. The device produces a surprisingly loud hissing noise while the tank is filling. I bought this primarily to filter silicates out of my drinking water for filling my aquarium, so I get to listen to the thing hiss for two or three hours while it fills. I have gotten accustomed to it, though.

All was great for the first three months after installation. Now the filtered water seems to be dramatically less pure than the unfiltered water. Suddenly, the golden diatom activity in my aquarium shot through the roof, and water changes using the filtered water seem to make it worse instead of better. The water in my espresso machine''s reservoir smells awful after only a few hours (and yes, I''ve cleaned it over and over). If it were possible, I would say that the filtered water is going down the drain and the wastewater is what''s going into the tank. I am going to disconnect this RO system and try another.

Checking the internet we found that clogged nozzles are a common complaint and not at all easy to unplug. We called the Bissell company, who put us through some tests (have a screwdriver handy when you call the customer service line!) and recommended we take it to a local repairman.The Bissellrecommended repair person quoted me $89.95 to clean the machine and get it running again. This machine was nothing but trouble from the moment we got it.

1. The machine leaks. Not only did the seal from the main water tank leak, but the detergent container also leaked. After using this machine we had to empty it of all fluids, and then set it in the laundry sink overnight so it could leak to it''s little heart''s content.

2. Uneven distribution of detergent. This leads to stripes of alternating clean and still dirty carpet. The detergent goes into a gravity well that gets mixed with water, and is then dropped onto the carpet in whatever fashion it chooses, it is NOT sprayed. If a port gets plugged from hair, dirt, carpet fuzz, or anything for that matter, then cleaning solution will not drop out of that area. We found ourselves going over the same areas of carpet over and over and over again to get thorough coverage.

3. Flimsy belt drive. The drive belt that drives the rotary brush head, snapped the first time it was used. We replaced it and the second belt drive snapped the 3rd time we used it. I discovered that the metal axle actually gets HOT while using the machine, and the drive belt is rubber. So if you are wondering what that burning rubber smell is...go buy a replacement belt.

4. Plastic. The entire body and most moving parts are plastic. So the trigger that releases the detergent broke 1 month after we purchased the machine. I wanted to clean the only carpeted room in our home, I did NOT want a weekly repair project.

5. I just gleefully threw this piece of junk into the trash can.

I was very hesitant to get this, to be honest, and after having trouble getting the special VOC (Volitile Organic Compound) filter to be recognized by the system, I called Zuvo. They were very helpful and discovered that the system I received was faulty. They quickly sent me a replacement system that came with a pre-paid return label. I fitted the replacement system in place, and it has been going great guns ever since.

I''ve tried several filtration systems over the years and needed a replacement after my Whirlpool system started leaking, so I did some research. There ARE filtration systems that filter out more than the Zuvo; however, the other systems even filter out the helpful things and to what avail? I''ve had my water tested and other it''s actually not bad; however, there are some VOC''s and we have had outbreaks of various pathogens since it was switched to ground water. The UV light helps keep the pathogens at bay and the filter and the ozination keep the water tasting fresh and clear. The added bonus of the attractive tap and easy installation all made this system worthwhile.

The ONLY thing I''ve not liked about this otherwise excellent solution, is that the tap sometimes drips after use for a while and that the water comes out a little slower than some other systems I''ve used and sputters a bit rather than a steady stream....but, nothing of any concern.

The pipe fittings are very well designed, I had the entire system installed and running in minutes with zero leaks.

Zojirushi EC-DAC50 Zutto 5-Cup Drip Coffeemaker Save 18% Off

This coffeemaker was a bit more expensive than others available, but the engineering on this thing is just unbelievable. My wife and I have been using it for about three months now, and we still marvel at how well it works, and the quality of the coffee it makes. Some of the things we really like include the fact that we can take the removable resevoir to the sink to fill it rather than try to pour water into the machine with the possibility of spilling it; the conical container for the grounds is in the coffee pot, so it is very easy to empty the grounds, and coffee doesn''t drip onto the heating plate after removing the pot; it uses a #2 paper filter, and I''ve found that a similarly sized Swiss Gold foil filter also works for those who don''t want the paper filter to soak up the coffee bean oils (but you''ll need to be a little more careful to hold the top on the pot when pouring the coffee if you don''t remove the filter first; And I could go on with the good things. I don''t believe it has an automatic shutoff on the hotplate, or at least we haven''t found one, but we don''t use it anyway. All in all, I think that using this is like driving a Lexus instead of a ten year old junker. It''s a neat piece of equipment, and it makes great coffee.

I had never heard of Zojirushi before but I was being very picky, holding out for a coffeemaker that makes 4-6 "cups" (aka two mugs,) uses a cone-bottom filter, and isn''t black or white. This is the ONLY coffe maker on Earth, apparently that met all my criteria. (OK I still would have liked it better if it came in red, but the soft gray color is kind of classy!) And I have to say I''m really pleased with it. The design is simple and elegant and the removable water reservoir is a great convenience; I don''t have to pull the whole coffee maker out from under the overhanging cabinets to get enough room to put the water in.

It also makes really good coffee, mainly because of the cone-bottom filter (I''ll never go back to flat-bottom filters!) And the built in carbon filter makes more of a difference than I had expected.

OK some reviewers below were on about how it doesn''t make coffee "hot enough" and I was like, bonus! I still don''t understand how the rest of the human race can drink hot coffee straight from the pot without scalding their tongues. I was really looking forward to being able to drink coffee without having to put an ice cube in the cup first. (To be fair, I do drink it black.) I was so confident about this due to the "not hot enough" reviews that when I poured my first cup, I just took a great big sip and scalded my tongue. Argh!! Maybe it''s just that the warming plate doesn''t keep coffee at boiling temperature, but it shouldn''t: that would ruin the flavor of the coffee (and I''ve had a few cheap coffee makers that did scorch the coffee in a very short time.)

Anyway if you are the sole coffee drinker in your home and you like GOOD coffee, and you don''t dig the flavor-limitations or wastefulness of those pod-based things, this is a perfect coffee-maker for you. (And if they ever make it in Red, I''ll be the first in line!)

I spent a lot of time online looking for a 4 to 5 cup coffeemaker to suit my needs. There are the usual suspects: Mr. Coffee, Braun, etc, that seem to get universally bad to mediocre reviews from people, especially people who know anything about coffee. I decided to skip all of those and look for something that would make a really good cup of coffee.

My choices became limited to two coffeemakers: one made by a company called Bodum (which looks like some kind of laboratory beaker) and the Zojirushi Zutto. The Bodum model supposedly performed well and made excellent coffee under ideal conditions, but many people who reviewed it said that it was prone to mishaps such as overboiling. So I went with the Zojirushi. I was not disappointed.

The Zutto is extremely well-designed and functional. The coffee filter is in the lid of the pot (not attached to the maker, like most autodrip models), and there is a removable charcoal water filter to remove chlorine, etc. It''s very easy to clean, attractive and perfect for a small space. After running water through it a few times to remove the burned-plastic taste you would get from any new coffeemaker, I brewed up a pot of Green Mountain. The coffee was excellent, the best I''ve ever had from an automatic drip maker. After the pot was left on the burner for 10 minutes, the coffee still tasted good, with only a very slight hint of a burned taste. I''m assuming this means that the heating element is set to the correct temperature for keeping the coffee warm.

There were no problems with pouring; you just have to place your thumb over part of the lid when you pour. The Zojirushi Zutto is a well thought-out and sturdy product, far better than anything comparable from any American company.

I agree with most of the other posters here that this is a fine coffee maker. BUT... it has a major flaw in that the carafe handle design is flawed. It works by a metal strap tight around the neck of the carafe, holding the handle on. Other coffee makers I''ve used with this design, also have some means of attaching the bottom of the handle to the side of the carafe, which lessons the pressure created on the strap when you pour. The Zojirushi does not, and when you pour, there''s a lot of pressure on the neck of the carafe. I''ve had to replace the carafe twice, because after time, it develops a crack in the glass at the neck, which eventually leads to breakage. As I say, this has happened twice, and at @20.00+ a pop for new carafes, it begins to add up to being way to expensive to keep. I''ve had my Zojirushi for about a year and a half, and other than the carafe problem, it has worked well.

I seem to be taking a lot of flack here for my review. I hate to tell the people who think I have it in for this coffee maker that that''s not the case, and that I''m not some clumsy clod who can''t keep from breaking the carafe myself. The first two did develop cracks at the neck without any help from me and I did have to replace them. That being said, It''s now 2012, (the first review written in June of 2009), and I''m still using this coffee maker daily, and the third carafe I purchased has not developed any cracks at the neck. And... it still makes great coffee!

They say that the water temperature impacts the bitterness as well. I take my coffee black, and I find the bitterness level just right to balance the acidity and create a wonderful complexity.

The believers say that coffee beans should be ground mere seconds before brewing. I grind mine at the store where I buy them, and lightning has yet to strike me.

The believers say that a five-cup coffee maker ought to serve two mugs of coffee. I say that filling the Zishoriju''s removable water tank to the brim produces two 13-oz mugs of coffee. That does require filling past the 5-cup tick mark of the tank, but then again, I do not recognize the infallibility of the tick mark.

I agree, and find that if I shape the five scoops of coffee into a cone in the filter of the Zoshujiri--that is, if I form a depression instead of a mound in the middle--then the dripping water does not splash the grinds into the pot. See, we can agree on something.

I say that, as a primate with opposable thumbs, I intuitively hold the pot by wrapping four fingers around the handle and resting my thumb on top, where the handle, cone filter, and lid all converge. The pot pours smoothly, cleanly, with nary a drip on the counter, and the top remains firmly & effortlessly in place.

The believers say that the Zurijisho''s gadgetry is gratuitous and out of line with tradition. I appreciate gadgetry for its own sake as well as for its functionality. All the important pieces are removable, which makes clean-up and assembly a cinch. With previous coffee makers, cleaning the swing-out filter holder had always been a pain. The removable water tank brings me more joy than a piece of plastic should (you heard me). And the filter contraption that sits atop the pot is a pleasure to fill and breeze to dump out and rinse.

The believers say that the Zujirishi''s pot and its handle are weak and will inevitably break, and I say the pot is light and the handle is secured in place by a metal band. True, I would hesitate before filling the pot with pebbles or slamming it in anger on the granite countertop; but I hasten to add that the pot remains in one piece after a year of daily use, and the handle feels as secure as day one.

The believers say that the absence of an auto-off feature is a fire hazard and a moral hazard, and I testify that I have failed to start several fires though I have forgotten to switch the Zoshiriju off about once a month.

The believers say that the plastic in the water tank contains carcinogens. I worry less about this because (a) the water is in there for all of three minutes, (b) there''s a Zirojushi email somewhere in the reviews claiming they don''t use BPA in any of their plastics, (c) a Wikipedia blurb claims that Japan has removed BPA from most of its food plastics, and (d) one is more likely to damage one''s health from indignation.

We are very pleased with this purchase. We''ve had it for about two months.

You can really taste the difference in the water. No additional appliance to run (Deer Park dispenser was our previous water source).

One note: you have to turn the water faucet off as soon as the little door starts to raise up, otherwise it will overfill the reservior and either leak out around the handle area or "contaminate" your filtered water with water that has not yet been filtered.

I used a Brita pitcher for years. Then it broke and went out on line to find they have changed dramatically over the years. The reviews were horrible on them. So went in search of something better. I found this one and was intrigued. I decided to give it a try and am so glad I did. My ice cubes are clearer than with the Brita water. The taste is phenomenal! It even holds more water than a Brita pitcher which is a big plus to me as I drink a lot of water. The only negative to me is the bottom of the pitcher. It is designed to fit in the door of the refrigerator, but I prefer it on my shelf instead. Thus it is a little wobbly when I go to place it on the shelf and need to be sure to set it at an angle so it doesn''t tip over. Otherwise I would have rated this a 5 hands down. Recommend this pitcher highly. I am still on my first filter after a month. I drink ice tea all day long as I work from home. Thus I go through a lot of filtered water.

I was looking for a larger capacity filter system that did a good job filtering and was aesthetically pleasing. This product fits the bill beautifully. I have small hands and the handle on this pitcher is quite comfortable, it has a nice balanced feel to it even when you are pouring from a full pitcher. A previous reviewer stated that they did not care for the "feet" of the pitcher, it was unstable when they put it in their fridge.... I have had no such problems. I''m usually in a mad dash & often am careless with items, still no problems with this item being stable. The water filters amazingly fast. I filled up my smaller PUR pitcher & then filled up the Mavea & Mavea filtered more water & in less time. Great for the times when you are putting a pot of water to boil & you need a lot of water quickly. However, I believe the speed of the filtration may be a trade off for quality. Reviewers here all say that they can taste a big difference in the water from Mavea over their Brita & PUR systems, so can I; however, I think it depends on which filter you are using. Mavea tasted better, especially the initial pitcher than the regular PUR filter, however, compared to the PUR filter with the highest level of filtering, I have to say that PUR wins out with a more pure taste than Mavea. It also filters out more contaminants according to the statistics provided by each manufacturer. I hate drinking water, so I notice every little thing...sodium in this one, lead or plastic in that one...I am a real pain. The fact that the cartridges are recyclable is also a plus. Both brands of cartridges have an approximate lifespan of 40 gallons & both state that you should only fill up twice a day for maximum results. I contacted Mavea regarding that last point and also on another matter. Their customer service is EXCELLENT. They promptly responded in a kind & courteous manner.

I would recommend this product and am very happy with my purchase. I only wish that they could/would come up with a stronger filter to filter out more contaminants, at least up to par with what is already out there for other pitchers. Hence only 4 stars

this pitcher is very narrow. it doesnt hold 2.4L of filtered water, as it says on mavea.com. it holds about 1.4L. 2.4l is the total volume

I returned it and got the large one [XL] which holds 2.4l of filtered water,[and not 3.5l as it says on mavea.com]

the XL will also fit in a typical US fridge door-its narrower than a gallon plastic jug of milk. this one might be good for a UK/Euro small fridge door.

also, it says push the filter in until it clicks, but they don''t actually click, as Mavea informed me. Evidently they''re changing their packaging/instructions to reflect this fact...

also just noticed they''ve changed the name to "Kompact" since I bought it.

I purchased the original filter at a large chain store and it has worked very well providing us good looking and tasting water to our travel trailer. The things that it filters out are far greater than simpler in-line filters, especially giardia. The only problem that I have is getting replacement filter cartridges for it. The original supplier quit carrying these units, so I have had to go on-line to fill my needs. Also, because of the ceramic portion of the filter, it plugs up rather quickly if in well water areas, however, can be cleaned with the provided Scotchbrite pad. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Hey, its a replacement filter, not much to say! Works great... for what it is worth, the whole system works great. Can reduce water pressure significantly, so I tend to utilize the inline filter to fill my internal tank, then run off that with the pump. Great to know your whole fresh water system is clean (vs just having drinking filter).

I bought the Bissell SpotLifter 2X to replace an older Bissell model that finally wore out after 5 years. We have 3 indoor cats that frequently soil our rugs and carpeting, so a quick and easy carpet cleaner is a must. The old version worked well, but this model works even better.

The suction is much improved, and this model cleans our rugs and carpet much better than its previous version. Battery life is excellent -we have used this cleaner several times over the past few weeks and still have yet to recharge the battery (the instructions recommend recharging only after the battery runs down to maximize battery life). The cleaning solution is readily available at places like Target and inexpensive. It is easy to empty the collection chamber after cleaning.

If you want a simple, affordable, rechargeable, cordless spot carpet cleaner, this is the one to buy. If the SpotLifter 2X lasts even half as long as the one it replaces it will have been a very good investment. I would not hesitate to buy it again.

First off, I bought this at Target for $40 before I read these reviews. So I am going to comment on the previous reviews.

1. This is not a whole room cleaner like Hoover Steamvac, so don''t expect the same thing (but I will make comparisons).

2. Water does spit out of the motor vents WHEN the dirty water container is full (which is less than an inch in this thing). Remember this is for spots!

3. No, there isn''t alot of water that comes up from the carpet because there''s not alot of soap being sprayed out of the sprayer. And most of it is in bubble form.

4. Yes, the dirty water container does need to be pulled off (and on) at an angle. I have a dustbuster, so I''m used to the "angle" thing.

5. Don''t expect suction like a Hoover Steamvac (which is plugged into the wall) from this machine (which is battery operated).

6. I haven''t had any problems with the rubber seals on my machine.

7. Sometimes this thing may not pull up ALL the spots. How many products have we all tried to get the most stubborn stain out? My husband and I found $40 is worth trying to get the stains out. And if that doesn''t do it, there''s always elbow-grease. :)

This one replaced our original spot lifter bought in 2002. The old model was a little smaller and had a little less suction. The new one now is bigger, heavier and has more suction, but it is not better.

First, the unit spits sucked up fluid from the motor air vents apparently sucking cleaning solution through the liquid trap in the canister and into the engine. This does not damage anything, but if you clean up house pet messes, you don''t want some of that stuff come shooting out of the air vents, right?

Further, the canister is difficult to attach and you have to get it angled just right to snap into position. Oterhwise it will not go in.

It surprises me that Bissel has gone backwards in functionality of this great tool. The original unit we had was great, functioned great and none of the problems this new unit has. They are also clearly engineering or design flaws that were not present in the older model.

But anyway, we had one of these little Bissels now four almost four years and it has been a savior for the carpet in two homes. Now the battery is finally to the point where it won''t hold charge and the tank/collector started leaking. I am galdly buying a new one today because if used as intended for small spots, it works great! Important is to lift off any fluid that''s on the carpet first, then thoroughly (!) soak the spot with the cleaning fluid and suck it in the machine. DO this twice, for which there is enough fluid in the tank, and your spot will be gone. I love this little machine!! Excellent with kids and pets.
