This Aqua-Pure system let us choose between
particulate and chlorine removal (this product)
particulate-only removal ( Aqua-Pure AP810-2 (AP802-1.5-C) Replacement Cartridge, 5 Micron Rating Water Filter )
We opted for this filter cartridge. because we wanted to filter out chlorine and crud. Also very important is that we still get good water flow after running through the filter. We still get 20 gpm after our water runs through the filter. Other systems drop down your water flow to 5gpm, after you run through the filter. That wasn''t going to work for us. (Obviously if you don''t already *have* at least 20gpm, using this filter won''t increase your water flow. It just won''t drop it below 20gpm.) Our 80psi water pressure has not suffered, either, from what we can tell.
You can maintain an even higher water flow if you choose the particulate-only filter (AP810-2, link above), but it''s not worth it for us. We wanted the chlorine to be filtered, too, and our water flow has not suffered.
We have to change the filter cartridge every 6 to 12 months, but at $50/pop, that''s acceptable.
The Aqua-Pure system is inexpensive. It was originally made by a company called Cuno which got bought by 3M. We''ve been very pleased with 3M products in the past, so we had confidence of the brand. And so far, it''s been everything we hoped for. The water tastes great, and there''s no chlorine smell, and no more clogging up of our faucets.
We''re very pleased with it.

The water supply to our home is from a well. For many years ee just had one whole house filter (an AquaPure 124). While th AP124 did a great job on filtering iron it didn''t do much for the magnesium problem. We added this filter, which we only change twice a year, and oh what a difference.
