Hydro Life G 2625 Water Filter for HL 170

Hydro Life G 2625 Water Filter for HL 170 - Threaded
  • Installs easily under a kitchen or bathroom sink
  • Greatly reduces bacteria
  • Has a working pressure of 20-125 psi

This item is Hydro Life #HL-170 TF. The photo shown of this product is incorrect: it is a #3 and has threaded ends and no tube. Fortunately it is what I needed for my rig. It seems to work well at making drinking water taste good and it says it "significantly reduces" many contaminants that a carbon filter doesn''t. However, I cannot find any specific data. I even emailed Hydro Life but they never responded.

If you are near a Camping World and in their Presidents Club, it is $5 cheaper less any sales tax. It is about $8 cheaper at online RV suppliers but they charge $16 for ground freight. So if you are a Prime member, this is the best deal.

Filters good but it decreased my water pressure drastically. I bought this because the RV park I am staying in uses well water.

50 Gallon Per Day 5-Stage Home Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System

  • Use RO Purified Water for Drinking, Cooking & Ice for improved flavor and increased health benefits
  • Go green! Stop wasting bottled water containers & fuel used to deliver water by filtering your own!

Made in the USA but priced competitively to all the others. Super high quality water filter system. It''s called an under the counter system but I used it to replace an aging system installed in the basement that never produced enough water. Since I was replacing an existing system it took be very little time, less than an hour including removing the old system, and I forced myself to go slowly and check everything twice.

Great easy to follow instructions and everything you need to get it done. It makes enough water for my family of 4 that we never run out and I even have it sending water to the ice maker. And we''re big water drinkers, refill our own water bottles, make Coffee and Tea, use the RO for cooking, etc. It''s all you''ll need.

If you have trouble with basic plumbing (I don''t) hire a plumber for the water source tap and drain. But otherwise it''s easy to do if you have even a basic ability for home repairs.

You don''t need similar systems that are $50-100 more.

System arrived on time, and was easy to install just follow the instructions. Takes up a lot of space under the sink, but it''s worth it!

We had a Culligan R/O system but got tired of paying the monthly fee. We ordered this 5-stage R/o system and are very pleased with it!! Our water readings were 25 with Culligan and are now 15 with our new system. A significant improvement.

Previous reviews and the price led me to buy this unit. A unit with half the capacity is being sold for $70 more at my local home improvement store so it was kind of a no-brainer. The only real problem I experienced with installation was that they only include a kit to hook up to a 1/2" riser. I ended up purchasing a 3/8" pipe X 3/8" pipe X 1/4" tube tee fitting and just not installing the additional isolation valve since the angle stop is right there anyway. If I do want the supply isolation in the future, it seems easier to buy a 1/4" valve and put it on the supply close to the unit itself. I also had to go back and use teflon tape on the threads for the plastic isolation valve at the top of the tank even though the instructions didn''t mention it (they had explicitly mentioned the teflon use on other steps, so I thought they left the teflon step off on purpose). Overall, the instructions were very easy for me to follow. They seemed like they were written by somebody that understands English.

The purge of the unit was a bit time consuming. You have to purge the air for about an hour, let the system fill completely and drain twice before getting drinkable water (each filling operation could take up to 6 hours, it only took about 3 with our water quality and pressure). After the initial setup, I tested total dissolved solids in the water. My unfiltered tap water has TDS 162 ppm, the Arrowhead bottled water we had been using came in at 101 ppm, the RO unit measured 10 ppm. The water tastes great, everything we cook with this water such as rice and pasta tastes better. Overall I think it''s great.

I got the same system with new one that I bought. with the new one, the water shot out to the drain line strong and stay ran for more than an hours. I have to turn off the water inlet and reopen it, so the water will stop shoot out the drain line. Everytime I use the water from the system, the water will run to the drain line for more than it should. I did email to the seller and they told me it normal. I got the problem with my main inlet pressure... Why my old system did not do this. Anyway I should buy from the local dealer, because warranty or replacement is more easy down to the road. My English level is ESL. I think you know what I talking about and forgot about grammar.

Holmes S1708 Humidifier Bacteriostat Save 18% Off

Holmes S1708PDQ-U Humidifier BacteriostatFor several years we have used a large humidifier during the winter months. Despite frequent cleaning and care, we had to replace the humidifier filters every few weeks. We started using the Holmes Bacteriostat last winter and only had to replace the filter a single time, three-quarters of the way through the winter.

Follow the directions on the bottle and not only save money by not having to replace the humidifier filters as often, but it can also save you from breathing mold spores growing on an untreated filter (before the filter even looks like it needs changing).

From the bottle''s label:

Holmes

Humidifier Water Treatment

Model S1705

* Prolongs the life of wick filters and warm mist heating systems

* Helps prevent lime and scale build-up

* Provides easier cleaning

My motivation for buying the Treatment was to increase the lifespan of the wick. I was only getting a few months life from a wick, using about two per winter. Using the Treatment, one wick is lasting more than one winter.

And the bottle lasts more than a winter, so it''s worth it.

I hate to recommend W*lmart, but I bought my last bottle there for less than $2. That was still during the end of the humidifying season. Guess I should have bought two. I also bought their last half-dozen HM3600 humidifier wicks for $2 each (in July), when you couldn''t find them for less than $12 anywhere on eBay.

I''ll need another year to determine just how much longer the wicks are lasting, now that I''m on the Treatment. I just checked my wick. I think I used it for almost all last winter. It''s just a little soft all over, but no serious deterioration. And no smell, just in case you''re counting.

The instructions recommend adding a capful with every 3 gallons of water -as a start -and then after a while, you''re supposed to determine whether your water needs more or less. I used a little less, and it still did the trick for my wick, apparently. My water is very soft. The instructions say harder water will require more Treatment. Granted, that''s not a lot of guidance.

I didn''t know if it''s allowed to combine bactericide with the Treatment, so I didn''t. Between the Treatment and being careful not to allow the humidifier to sit with water if it was turned off, the water never got smelly.

Before we tried the S1708 in our humidifier MA0800, we had to replace the filter about once per month. I would buy a case of 6 filters for over $60 each winter season. Since our baby was born we have decided to leave the humidifier running year round. I have used a bottle of this and am now ordering another and have only used 2 filters this entire year. I went to change it like normal, but the filter was like new. The only time I''ve had to change the filter is when we left it off for a few weeks with water in the tank.

Great product that saves me money. Thanks Holmes!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

We could not find this item anywhere then i looked on amazon.com and here it was. You have to use antibacterial even when you get a ball with the machine that is said to do the job.

I love this product. I like the larger bottles and it really makes our room clean smelling not musty and molded. Our maching stays super clean and free of all bacteria and molds using this. I would not be without it.

If you are using a humidifier and they say you do not need to add chemical, wrong. Buy this and you will see the difference and how clean your machine and air stays.

Cuisinart DCC-1250SA Grind & Brew 12 Cup Coffee Maker

Cuisinart DCC-1250SA Grind & Brew 12 Cup Coffee MakerThe machine works OK. There''s nothing wrong with it. But basically it makes what I call "truck-stop coffee." This is coffee for the non-discriminating coffee drinker. Now I''m not a coffee snob I''ll drink truck stop coffee but I don''t want it at home! I''ve been making coffee with a burr grinder and a cone-style filter since the 1970''s and I''ve grown used to a cup of gourmet coffee in the morning. When my Krups Grind and Brew died (excellent gourmet coffeemaker by the way), I decided to give the Cuisinart a try because it was cheaper.

I''ve had this coffeemaker for two weeks and I''m already shopping for a replacement. First of all, it uses flat-bottom "basket" style coffee filters (Mr. Coffee-type filters), not the cone-style filters that are well known to produce better coffee. This info was not in any of the online descriptions or reviews. Secondly, it does not have a grinder--not like the Capresso of Krups machines. Instead, it has a rotary blade chopper. Again, this info did not show up in any of the online descriptions or reviews. A blade chopper is not as good as a burr grinder, but you can still make a decent pot of coffee with a blade chopper as long as you are skillful in using it. With the Cuisinart, though, you have no control of the chopper so your skill or lack thereof is immaterial. Read on.

To make a pot, put a fresh filter into the basket and pour water into the reservoir. Easy and straightforward. Next, lift the coffee chopper from the top of the machine, pry open the top with a fingernail then add the correct amount of beans to the chopper. This means you have to measure the beans for every pot. With both Krups and Capresso grind and brew machines, you add beans in bulk to the hopper (no measuring) then you instruct the machine how much coffee to grind for each pot--much simpler. Then close the lid and place the chopper in the machine. Sounds simple, but I can''t do it without having to go get my reading glasses. That''s because there''s a small round piece that needs to fit over a pin-type plunger and it just doesn''t want to fit unless you get it just right.

Next you press the start button and what happens is the blades of the chopper start chopping the beans and at the same time centrifugal force makes all the beans whirl around inside the chopper. Part of the chopper wall consists of a perforated metal screen. As soon as a piece of bean is small enough to squeeze thru this screen, it does, and goes into the chute that leads to the basket. If this screen had a finer mesh, the coffee would just clog it up. So the mesh is fairly course and as a result you have coarse grounds. Coarse grounds in a Mr. Coffee-style flat basket. Bad, bad, bad. With both Krups and Capresso, you can choose a fine or coarse grind or anything in between.

Then the water is heated, flows into the basket, and drips into the pot. Steam fills the inside of the machine including the inside of the chopper where it turns any remaining coffee grounds (dust) into mud. As a result, the chopper gets gummed up with coffee remains. This is not a big deal, but it adds another step to the care and feeding of this machine because you have to clean the chopper in the sink after 3 or 4 pots.

Are there any pluses? Yes. The pot has a good dripless spout. And the hot plate keeps the coffee in the pot at a good temperature. Also, you don''t have to use the built-in chopper. You can grind your owns beans, put them in the basket, then brew. But that kind of defeats the purpose of having a grind and brew coffeemaker, doesn''t it?

What you have then is a machine that not only makes rather ordinary coffee, it''s also less convenient to use than its two main competitors because of the measuring of the beans and the cleaning of the chopper. Of course, it''s cheaper than the competitors. Once again the old adage "you get what you pay for" holds true.

After having several drip coffee makers (both inexpensive and VERY expensive), this is the best for the following reasons:

low noise grinder

makes a full pot in less time

easy to clean

at a glance look at remaining coffee (can''t do this with a carafe)

reasonable price, good warranty

Best of all, it makes a delicious cup of coffee

Buy Cuisinart DCC-1250SA Grind & Brew 12 Cup Coffee Maker Now

The old $10 Proctor-Silex coffee maker in our office here in Afghanistan had seen better days. And even though we used bottled water and ground our own beans, the flavor was just barely passable. A few people I knew had a Cuisinart unit similar to this one and all said it was a darned good maker of the java. So I convinced the other coffee chronics to chip in with me and buy this as an office morale booster. We weren''t prepared for the huge difference in coffee quality that we got. It was like our taste buds had taken the last several months off and suddenly returned to duty.

This coffee maker produces some of the best coffee that you can find this side of a mom-and-pop barista joint. Every pot is consistently made and always delicious. Plus it''s easy enough to use that we haven''t yet dorked up making a pot. The 12-cup carafe is big enough to handle the chore of serving four serious drinkers. The built in bean grinder does a perfect job pulverizing the beans. Although the instructions say to clean out the grinder after each use, we usually do it once a day (about 3-4 pots) and haven''t had any issues.

This maker excels in one are that most people will not have to worry about: keeping out dust. Afghanistan is covered in a fine, talcum powder dust that gets into most everything. The fit and finish of this Cuisinart is really good; we''ve had no problem with it sneaking into the grinder, reservoir or basket areas.

So we are completely satisfied with this unit. And yes, our morale has been boosted considerably.

The Cuisinart DCC-1250SA Grind and Brew is by far the best coffee machine I have ever owned. The coffee is so fresh with the grind feature and the water is a great temparature. This machine has saved me hundreds of dollars in two short months as I get the highest quality coffee in my own kitchen. I feel bad for Tim Hortons and Dunkin Donuts as they have lost a customer. I highly recommend this product! It is so good, I purchased a second for my parents who are thrilled with the product.

Want Cuisinart DCC-1250SA Grind & Brew 12 Cup Coffee Maker Discount?

Purchased this product thinking that I would be able to make good coffee, and that I would be able to control the strength of the resulting product. Was I wrong! This coffee maker can barely make 20 ounces (two and a half eight ounce cups) of moderately strong coffee. The coffee grinding chamber takes very very few beans--close to 1/2 a cup ( 4 ounces). When you use the coffee maker, vapor from the filter housing gets to the beans compartment and it becomes noticeably wet creating a paste of the ground coffee remains left in the chamber. Another issue I have is with the programming. Once you put the date and time and set the program to run it works fine, but if you by accident unplug the coffee maker, the program is lost, then you have to go through the tedium of entering it again. Yes, if Cusinart''s engineers had been moderately intelligent or not trying to cut corners, they could have placed a small battery inside the device to keep the program going regardless of whether it was plugged in or not.

Even more tragic: If you decide to use ground beans to make coffee, you must be careful they are not too ground, or coffee will overflow and drip down all over the sides of the filter housing and make a mess on your counter top! Yes this machine can make "12 cups" ( = 9 eight ounces cups) of extremely watery coffee resembling *lightly* brewed tea. Honestly, this machine is certainly not suited for a mildly sophisticated coffee drinker or even for someone who prefers Starbucks coffee over, say McDonald''s coffee.

In passing, let me add that if the engineers that designed this product had been only slightly smarter they would have made the compartment where the coffee is ground twice larger in order to allow the user to tweek the strongness of the final product; they would have also allowed the tweeking of the level of grinding desired. Of course, this would have also required a larger filtering compartment, something that could have been easily done. This coffee maker as it is now is an exercise in poor design and an additional embarrassment to Cuisinart.

MR. COFFEE? Water Filter Replacement 6pk

MR. COFFEE? Water Filter Replacement 6pkSeveral reviews have claimed that these filters are a total waste, blah blah blah. If they feel their water doesn''t need filtration, then I should think they should simply not use a filter and not complain.

Some of us, on the other hand, live in areas where the tap water tastes downright vile--this is certainly the case where I live. I used to buy bottled water for the sole purpose of making coffee. These filters, though, have saved me time and money--yes, they really work! Since I bought the Mr Coffee coffee maker last year, I can use tap water and have coffee without the unpleasant taste of chlorine. This was certainly not the case before.

As to the price, I''ve paid just as much for two filters (as opposed to six) in stores, and what Amazon charges is much more reasonable than any other price I''ve seen for this item on line.

I like my Kona coffee fresh tasting and chemical filled tap water can ruin that.

These little filters do a great job of improving the taste of regular tap water.

Sure, they are pricey, but I''ve found I can go for a few months using just one rather than change it out every month as Mr. Coffee recommends. There are alternatives to them as well, like using pref-iltered water or bottled water, but costs doing it that way can add up as well.

Overall, a decent product if you can stomach the price.

BTW, as of writing this, the 2-packs are actually cheaper to purchase than the 6pk (going by unit cost). But for some reason the shipping is a $1 more for the 2-pack! Solution: Buy 3 2-pack refills in one order and you save yourself about $2 over the cost of buying just the one 6-pack.

I know others say this product does nothing, but IMHO if you have crappy water like we do it really helps. We have really poor tasting water and this filter makes a huge difference. They recommend you use it for 1 month, but we only change it once every three months. Really worth it, you can see the crud collected on the filter too.

BRITA SPACE SAVER PITCHER Size: 1 Save 50% Off

BRITA SPACE SAVER PITCHER Size: 1If you are looking for ways to work on being more patient, enjoy banging your head against the wall daily, or are conducting a study on poor design, then this is your Brita pitcher.

I have owned several Brita pitchers in the past and had no reservations about purchasing another one because the others worked great. However, the design of this model is idiotic. The lid is made out of a poor quality plastic that flexes making it difficult and annoying to take it on and off or flip open the top opening. The lid also falls off (possibly because it is so hard to put on completely) when you pour from the pitcher unless you hold it on while pouring. This causes a mess if is knocks the glass you are pouring into or the reservoir is full and spills out a bunch of unfiltered water. Where the handle connects to the top, there is a significant dip (basically a hole) so that if you fill the reservoir close to the top, it is extremely easy for the water line to go above the hole. The handle is covered with another flimsy piece of plastic that is merely snapped on. When the water from the reservoir spills out of the hole, the handle fills with water. Since the covering of the handle is only snapped on and not sealed, if you don''t notice this immediately, water will start streaming out of the bottom of the handle all over you or your table or whatever. Even if you were careful not to fill the reservoir above where the hole is, when you go to set the pitcher down, some water will inevitably slosh through the hole and you have the same problem or water going into the handle and streaming out.

This is a terrible product. I gave it two stars because the filter itself functions just as well as any other Brita filter, but the pitcher design is a nightmare.
