Purchased this coffee maker at local retailer after trying but returning a KitchenAid with thermal carafe. The Mr Coffee is 1/2 the price and twice the function. The optional thermal carafe can be substituted for the glass carafe and the machine automatically detects the carafe and adjusts by turning the hot plate on (glass) or off (thermal. Has all the functions of the best coffee makers. Makes great coffee at a temperature that is hot enough to make the coffee taste good without being so hot that it burns the coffee. I have had some issues with Mr Coffee designs in other older machines but this machine seems to be well designed. As an example, the water spout that delivers hot water to the coffee grounds is automatically placed over the coffee when the cover is closed. (You must move the spout to remove the coffee grounds basket and this feature ensures that it is always placed back at the proper location. The option of glass for 12 cups or thermal for 8 cups of coffee allows great flexibility. I highly recommend this coffee maker.

I don''t usually write reviews but this one deserves one. It is so easy to use and very versatile. You can use 12 cup glass carafe or 8 cup thermal carafe (purchased separately but cheap enough). Makes great coffee and with the 12 cup keeps it hot for 2 hours before shutting off automatically. All the features of the really expensive ones for less than half the price and does a great job. Nothing worse than a good sounding review wasting your time by the "Cons" of the Product.So out with it.
Cons: Only "One" noticeable thing, pouring coffee into cup, with pot lid down/closed causes dripping. Simply lift lid a little when pouring to solve. No Biggy...
Otherwise, I''m satisfied with it. I had very little to no noticeable problem with "Plastic" taste tainting the coffee even on the first brew.
Note: Mine did have a small "dent" in the chrome faceplate. Barely nothing to make a fuss about or drop the rating for. Hardly noticeable...

Our old reliable and inexpensive Mr. Coffee maker had served us well for almost 12 years, but finally the plastic started to show it''s age and could no longer resist the daily abuse. The result was the carafe handle and the one of the filter pegs recently breaking. The coffee maker still worked great but clearly it was time for a new one...Let me preface this review by saying that I had two very important criteria when I was looking for a new coffeemaker:
1. Must have a thermal carafe. (wife wanted it)
2. Must use basket filters. (I still have several hundred of them, bought in bulk long ago, so I want to use them!)
Price was also a criteria, of course, but I was open to spending over $100 if necessary to get a good one. I have a soft spot for Mr. Coffee based on the long and reliable life of our old one, but I looked at all the brands with models matching the above two criteria.
Those two criteria really managed to limit the number of models I had to consider and I didn''t see any real outstanding reviews on any of them, even the ones priced over $100. Then I stumbled upon this little gem. The reviews were good, it uses basket filters, and provides the option of buying a thermal carafe. The price is so low that even with the extra bucks to buy the thermal carafe it was still cheaper than pretty much all of the other models I had looked at. Plus it is Mr. Coffee, which has served us so well for so many years. Sold.
So, with the story of how I came to purchase it out of the way I can get on to the heart of the review...
First off the coffee maker looks great; sleek and compact. It actually takes up less space than the old Mr. Coffee model that it replaced.
The instructions are very straightforward and it is very simple to operate. It doesn''t have a lot of fancy settings or other complications. It includes a water filter but since we already filter our water I opted not to use it. Before using you are advised to run it through a brew cycle with just water to get rid of any manufacturing residues. You can definitely pick up some chemical smells right out of the box so I opted to run a couple of brew cycles just to be safe. After two cycles it was ready to make coffee.
Making coffee is a snap. The filter basket lifts out easily you just rotate the spray arm out of the way and lift out. This makes it easy to add the ground coffee and to clean up afterwards. After you have the filter basket loaded up with ground coffee you just put it back in and rotate the spray arm back into place. You add the water into the reservoir through the same opening in the top and there is plenty of room to pour. The cup markings are on the right side of the machine and may be a little difficult to see in low light, but I haven''t had any trouble. If you measure your water before adding it then it won''t matter in any case. Once you have added the water you just press one button to start brewing. If you want to change the brew strength you press one more. The machine will beep when it is done. Easy.
The unit automatically senses whether you are using the glass or thermal carafe. The heating element turns on only for the glass carafe since the whole idea of the thermal carafe is to keep the coffee warm without continually heating it. We typically use the glass carafe when we are going to drink up the coffee quickly and the thermal when we have more time and want to drink coffee at our leisure. The thermal carafe easily keeps the coffee warm enough for us for a couple of hours. The instructions advise pre-heating the carafe with hot water to help maintain the temperature but we usually don''t bother.
This machine brews great tasting coffee quickly and easily. If that is what you want in a coffeemaker then I highly recommend it. If you want lots of fancy settings to fiddle around with then it isn''t for you. The clock on the machine is not illuminated so you can''t see it at night. If you really want/need an illuminated clock then you will want to find another model.
This coffeemaker suits our needs perfectly and the price can''t be beat. The optional thermal carafe is great for keeping coffee warm without cooking it perfect for extended coffee drinking sessions.

I purchased this air purifier about 3 weeks ago and it has made a huge difference! I took the smell of fried salmon out of my kitchen in about 30 minutes. It removed the the smell of 2 people smoking cigars in my basement in about an hour! It has a pre-filter which is also a carbon filter. The internal filter (photocatalytic)looks to be much finer and would remove smaller particles. Extra filters/Ozone plates are readily available on the website (I wanted a purifier that I could get extra filters/ozone plates in case I needed them) The real smell cleaning power comes from the Ceramic ozone plate! While I was smoking, I kept the "purifier" on level 2 with the fan on 3. Once I was done and left the room, I put the "purifier" on level 5 and fan on 5. You shouldn''t be in the room with the ozone set on 5. It really pumps it out! I couldn''t be happier with my purchase. And to top it all off, the company is a pleasure to deal with. instantaneous response on emails! All that being said, I do not run this purifier 24/7 like I do with my Plasmacluster or Winix. I turn this on to remove odors and it does a hell of a job!

Midwestern summers are always warm and wet. You''ve probably that "It''s not the heat, it''s the humidity." This is true in more ways than many can think of. Humidity is moisture which mold and fungus thrive on. When we breathe in this stuff it causes all kinds of problems for our health, allergies, minor infections, minor inflammations which leave us feeling rundown and feeling less than the best. This machine is like a miracle! It cleans all this stuff out of the air in the house along with all the dust, odors and other particulate matter floating around in the air in our homes. Both my wife and I have endured years of sinus problems. Many trips to the doctor, lots of medical bills and prescriptions that just never seem to take care of anything. When I got this machine I looked at the house and divided it into three zones the bedroom, the main floor and the basement where the washer and dryer are. I ran this machine for one day in each of the zones starting with the main floor. Results were both immediate and spectacular! The next day the bedroom was the target. Neither of us have slept so well or awoke so refreshed like we actually got some rest, in such a long time. It was incredible. The last target was the basement. This got a full 24 hour treatment. Simply amazing! That dank musty smell just disappeared!I have a business in an old historic barn. It had become nearly intolerable for me to work in there. After the house was done I thought I would take the Green Air machine to work and let it run. Talk about clearing the air! It''s actually pleasant to be there again. I think I''ll be ordering another Green Air Machine for work.
The only regret is not having bought this machine or something similar a long time ago.

Of all the copco cold drink tumblers, the cross-bones and damask print are my two personal favorites. I bought them along with a selzter maker to enjoy sparkling water drinks, and they are perfectly suited to the task as the straw is weighted such that it does not float to the surface when submersed in sparkling water.Have washed these on the top rack of my dishwasher for weeks with no issues.
My sole complaint regarding the overall design of the tumbler (and it really is a very minor criticism), is that lower end of the straw should be a smidge lifted from the bottom of the cup so that you can drink without having to first lift the straw slightly before you take a sip. Although that would mean you wouldn''t be able to enjoy the last small sip of your drink with the straw in that case, I would still consider it a fair trade to be able to drink hands free the rest of the time.

Perhaps this filter would have done a decent job. But while instructions read to place the sealing washer over the threaded mount, there was no such washer included in the packaging. And of course the filter leaked like mad without it. So will have to go four days without filtered water until a replacement genuine Franke filter is delivered. Will not buy Doulton again.

little did we know that after you unhook the ice machine water hose, you have to re-cut the hose before re-atttaching. Or, we would not have bought a new connector. :-( it was cheap and we learned via internet searches becasue when we hooked this one up it leaked too (not the connector but the hose the cutting the hose thing! It did not come with instructions is why we left out that hose cut part. I''ve never personally tested water from the tap from any of the places where I lived, but there''s a first for everything so I purchased this Lead test kit to test the tap water at my current place of residence. This kit comes with a vial for the water sample, a pipette used to obtain the correct amount of water to be tested and finally the test strip which will show the results of the test. The most important step when doing the water test is to only fill the vial with ONE pipette full of the water sample. In my test the results were very clear and was negative.

First, according to the instructions on the filter, you need to allow water to flow through it for a short time to clear the carbon lines. I hooked up the hose to one end and turned the water part way on to let the water flow out the other open end of the filter, and for about two seconds the water was pure black, which was the carbon coming out upon first use. After about a minute I turned the faucet all the way on and it flowed black for another two seconds. After that, it''s been clean and pure ever since. If you don''t let water run for a few minutes at first to flush out the loose carbon and just connect the filter without flushing it, you''re going to have carbon inside your system.
Second, according to the instructions on the filter, it says do not freeze. Well, if you hook this to the outside of an RV and it''s winter time, I''m not sure you you can avoid this.
But it is a good filter that works great and I will buy more of them.

I was looking for a 4 cup coffee maker, with a cone filter, with a glass carafe, and if it was in red it would match the other red items in my kitchen. So I ordered this coffee maker. Not only did it meet all the criteria, it makes good coffee, takes up very little space, and is a bargain price. The only thing I wish for is an automatic shut off timer. Other than that, perfect!

Did not even work, right from the start. This gets 1 star, only because of its prettyness, and would be real easy to use, clean, etc, if it only worked!!
