DeLonghi 14 Cup Programmable Front Access Drip Coffee Maker

DeLonghi 14 Cup Programmable Front Access Drip Coffee MakerThe least of my worries (I thought) were whether or not the coffee maker carafe would pour well. This carafe ruins the fact that the coffee maker makes great coffee. When you try to pour, either coffee into your cup or water into the maker, it spills ontop the counter. I pour slow, fast, and any possible way you can pour and it still runs down the carafe and spills onto the counter. I have no idea how it does this, but it does. I have never had a pot do this before. A $10 Mr. Coffee pot has never done this, but this $100 dollar one does. It drives me nuts. I would give this five stars if the carafe poured correctly, but I can''t because it ruins all the good things about this pot.

Works beautiful and the coffee is just perfect every time. I have had other drip coffee makers, but this one is so easy to use and clean. I like that the water and coffee tubs are easy to fill and I can put this under my cabinets and on my countertop. Looks beautiful too!

Just received this coffeemaker and I couldn''t be happier with it. I have had Bunn coffeemakers for many years and in April replaced my 10 year old Bunn with a new one. Well, the new Bunn was terrible. Very cheaply made, was sketchy when it did decide to work and the carafe leaked like crazy, no matter how careful I tried to be while pouring from it. I finally decided to search for a replacement and came across this model from Delonghi. On top of having many options that the Bunn didn''t (larger carafe, programmable, auto pause when you pull the carafe out while brewing) it just makes a great cup of coffee! And fast! And the fact that you swing the door out to put water and coffee in so you don''t have to pull it out from under the counter makes it even easier and more convenient to use. I''m really happy with it!

Carafe drips all over no matter how you try to pour. Clock only works in military time. I would not recommend.

$100 piece of junk. Thought I was buying a better quality maker due to price. NOT!!!

The carafe design must be flawed, as it is impossible to pour a simple cup of coffee without spilling coffee around the countertop. We called and complained, they sent us a new one and the same problem. It must be a design flaw with the carafe. I would recommend not purchasing this coffee maker.

Shop-Vac 5861600 16-Gallon 6.5-Peak HP Quiet Deluxe Wet/Dry Vacuum Save 36% Off

Shop-Vac 5861600 16-Gallon 6.5-Peak HP Quiet Deluxe Wet/Dry Vacuum
  • Accessories Included: 8-Foot x 2 1/2-Inch Hose, (2) 2 1/2-Inch Extension Wands, 8-Inch Utility Nozzle, 14-Inch Floor Nozzle w/Brush, Crevice Tool, Tool Holder, Cartridge Filter
  • 3 Year Warranty
  • 18-Foot Power Cord
  • Rear Blower Port
  • Extra Large Tank Drain

I purchased this vacuum because a 6.5 HP motor seems to be as big as you can get without jumping into the industrial line of vacuums. I wanted a big motor for a reasonable price.

Warranty It also has a 3 year warranty, which of course I hope I do not need to use.

Assembly It is easy to put together...about 10-15 minutes. I only needed a flathead screwdriver to mount the wheels.

Blower -The vacuum has a blower feature which you enable by plugging the hose into the exhaust port.

Drain It has a drain for emptying the vacuum after wet pickup. Useful when 16 gallons of liquid is too much to lift.

Noise I can''t tell if this vacuum is "super quiet" as advertised. It seems as loud as any vacuum I have owned. Probably some room for improvement. Without a decibel rating... it all seems relative.

Sucking power this vacuum is powerful. No complaints.

Included Tools everything is plastic and 2 1/2 inches in diameter. The crevice tool is larger than you might think. I think they could have included a round brush tool for the price.

Tool Carriage mounts easily to the back of the vacuum. It is of marginal value. Bad for extension pipes and hoses, good for the crevice tools and gulper tool.

Weight This vacuum weighs 20+ pounds which makes it heavy to many people. There is a handle on top of the unit which you can use to carry it.

Extensibility shop vac makes some additional products such as a gutter leaf blower attachment, a dust collection system, and drywall sanding screen/collection system all of which give this product some growth potential.

Filters This one uses the round cartridge as shown but can also accomodate bags for drywall dust or fine dust. I like the one piece design as opposed to the sponge, o-ring, filter design used in other models.

Cord 18 ft. cord is nice.

Areas for improvement add some extra tools (brush head and/or small crevice tool), give a 5 year warranty, reduce the noise further, add a crush proof hose, add a tote bag for the tools as opposed to the on board carrier.

I bought this so I could do light shop duty, but mostly to use instead of my dyson for car cleaning. The dyson is really hard to use to clean cars with it''s ridged short hose.

I was worried it wouldnt provide as much suction power as the dyson, but it seems to keep up fine for the car application. I purchased a car set Snap-on 93078 Car Cleaning Kit to assist with the cleaning. I am now able to get in between the seat and behind the pedals where I couldn''t before, and it is much more comfortable to use to clean.

The vac is easy to tote around on the wheels that come with it, and its fairly light. The suction power works great and can clean anything I put in front of it (NOTE: I havent used it on any liquid yet). Other people have complained about the big airvent in the back, but I think it is a nice addition. I use it to blow off computer stuff instead of using canned air and it works great. I have only used it outside so I havent noticed it blowing dirt everywhere.

I wish it came with a few more attachments, but the general purpose ones that come with it seem to work fine. The cord is a bit short, but its easy enough to add an extension cord to so you dont always have to have a super long cord.

I would recommend this vac for anyone looking for light duty shop and car cleaning.

I''ve used this for cleaning out my basement (lots of dry stuff). I''ve used this for cleaning out the pool where my water fountain sits and it does a nice job. What I wish I had was an attachment to the drain so I could just let the water run through the vac and out a hose into the alley. As it is, I have to stop after it fills, take off the top, remove the vac hose, roll it down a sidewalk and out to the alley and then dump it. I''ve searched on-line for a drain hose, but can''t find one. If anyone can direct me to someone who sells these things, would be much appreciated.

Just got one of these because the wal mart specials just didnt do it. The 2 1/2 inch wide hose will pick up just about anything, and this thing can really clean. It would be nice to have a few more attachments.

This filter works great. It fits perfect for my Orion water purifier and alkalizer (Jupiter model). It has made such a big difference in the health and wellness of myself and my family. I find I actually drink water, which I''m prone to not do--because most water tastes terrible to me. Without it, I live dehydrated...very bad. Instead, I drink plenty of water now, and feel great. The alkaline state is far better for your body, and I can feel it. I have more energy and my immune system is strong--I just don''t get sick with the colds, etc. that go around. In fact, my whole family has better resistance and my children also drink more water on a regular basis and hardly ever get sick, even being exposed to germs as much as they are in school. I saw a marked change in this once we all started to drink the alkalized and purified water. This is not by any means "scientific", and I''m certainly not making claims, but its just been my experience and observation. We all enjoy our water now, and drink a lot more. It has a smooth taste, even at the highest alkaline setting. And my body loves it; it just feels good inside. My body says "YES! I''d like some more of that, please...". My aches and pains are nonexistent, and I am an athletic person, so I expect aches and pains in the short term, to get to the long term benefits, as I workout. Not anymore. I don''t have aches and pains, and have experienced no soreness of any kind in my joints, muscles, connective tissues, even tho I bike ten miles almost everyday, and weight train in the gym. Finally, I''m properly hydrated. I''m so grateful for the good water, and will never underestimate how important it really is.

The only down side to this filter (and it may not be the filter in this case, but the fact the water in my area is so bad causing the filter to be used up faster) is it only lasted for about three months. After about three months of pure drinking water bliss, we began to notice a metallic taste coming through. We bought another one, and replaced the old with the new, and again, our drinking water is great again. I''m just not sure how long it will last this time. We are actually filling vessels and storing them so we don''t have to turn it on and off all the time hoping this might help it last longer. Also this avoids the mistake of letting hot water run into it accidentally. At close to a hundred dollars a wack, we want to try to get as much out of it as we can. We keep about ten gallons on hand at any given time, and rotate them out, refilling about every three to four days or so.

The acid water that comes out as discharge we have found has many practical and useful purposes. It makes an EXCELLENT laundry detergent booster, especially since we are chemically aware/sensitive individuals. My towels always come out SO much cleaner pouring a gallon of acid water in with the laundry. If I have especially dirty clothes too, I''ll use some and it always makes them cleaner. I''ll use the acid water on my sponges and countertops, and pour some into the toilets between washings as a better/healthier way to sanitize. The acid water also makes a fabulous mouthwash (just don''t drink it!!).

All in all, I recommend this product and I''ve been very pleased. If your health is important to you, you can''t go wrong here...

My old filter was the original for the Orion machine and after a year (OK almost two) it was about time to change it out for a new one.

The shipping was fast (thankfully! I was getting thirsty!)

Installation directions were simple, the filter comes with a bottom piece that some machines use, but if your machine doesn''t (like my Orion) then you simply remove this piece and install the filter by pushing down on the machine''s spring loaded mechanism.

(Think inserting a huge AA battery into a device, first you push it into the spring side, etc)

The water quality is back to what it used to be-clean tasting, fresh, and vibrant. The alkaline water is great!

I own this BioStone Plus filter, I and my residents can tell that water taste best from all water that they taste in their life. It same taste like melted snow or expensive Fiji Natural Artesian water, but with out any smells of the plastic bottles. I tested this water with my ionizer, purified and alkaline water taste very amazing with out any kind of smells. My previous Ultra BioStone with alkaline level 8 to 11 ph was taste same kind of smells, but this is perfect filter with out any smells.

I wish if BioStone Plus filter company make filtration system to use with out any ionizer, because a lot of people can''t afford expensive water ionizer. I am also like to sell my Orion ionizer and use just purified water, but no one make regular water system to use same Biostone Plus filter cartridge. If any one know how to use this water filter with out ionizer, please let me know, my email cergius at yahoo dot com. Thank You.

The last filter I bought lasted about two months and was clogged tight and wouldn''t let water through. This one after a week showed a one bar on the use area already. What gives...makes me think these are USED. For $90 average I think we have a problem and I am looking for a trusted source if such a thing actually exists. This is really ridiculous. These things should last 6-12 months for 2 folks, NOT a couple weeks. Something rotten is going on..........

ANDREA: Plant-based Air Purifier (White)

ANDREA: Plant-based Air Purifierjust set up our first ANDREA with an Aloe Vera plant inside and am loving it... the fresh greenhouse-like smell that comes out (especially when you first turn it on) is great and it looks perfect in the corner of our front room. there''s an adjustable fan and you can turn on the light for a super sci-fi effect at night which makes it look like something out of "Sunshine". right now we''re moving it around the house every few days might buy a dedicated one just for the bedroom. only complaint is that it''s not *quite* quiet enough to leave on next to your bed while you sleep, but then i''m a pretty light sleeper!

Put simply this is a very expensive air filter to only last a single year. We contacted the company to no avail. We really loved Andrea, until she began making loud noises. The motor still runs, but the efficacy of the filter is severely reduced and the noise intolerable.

People seem to have a problem with this product based simply on the fact that it incorporates a plant. What a bizarre idea, they tell everyone, and yet neither of the people who has left reviews (on is of another model) have even tried the product! My mother just bought herself one of these and her allergies have vastly improved (she has severe allergies). I am ordering one today. My review is based on personal experience of the time I spent at my mother''s while it was running. People seem to have serious issues with anything nature based claiming that only artificial things really work or are good for us. This product brings together the best of both worlds, natural and scientific (based on NASA technology). Why leave reviews if you haven''t even tried it? I thought this was supposed to be a meritocracy, let experience = reviews.

Stadler Form William Ultrasonic Humidifier Black Save 23% Off

Stadler Form William Ultrasonic Humidifier BlackI recently moved to Aurora, Colorado (just outside Denver) and at 5,400 feet the humidity is extremely low. I noticed my skin began to itch, which it had not done before. My doctor advised moisturizing creams, which helped a bit, and an air humidifier. After a lot of investigating I narrowed my search to the Air-O-Swiss and the Williams. In fact, both units seemed remarkably similar with both using a "patented" ionic silver cube and a filter cartridge which seem visually identical. Both units provide warm and cool mist. Possibly the technology is licensed from Air-O-Swiss? The deciding factors for me were:

(a) the Air-O-Swiss listed a capacity of 650 sq. ft. and the Stadler 1,000 sq. ft. I have a very small house 850 sq. ft. which effectively makes the Stadler a whole house humidifier for me.

b) almost every review of the Air-O-Swiss commented on the inaccuracy of it''s humidity meter and the only review I could find of the Stadler said it''s meter was accurate.

THE GOOD: Assembly is a snap. The meter is close to accurate. The water tank is extremely easy to remove and fill. It is dark plastic, but the water level can be seen quite clearly. The tank capacity is sufficient for 9 hours of continual use. The machine is so silent that I have to listen closely at night to hear anything at all. Just a soft "ssshhh." The Control Panel is easy to see and use with many options and has a light to indicate no-water.

My skin itching stopped.

THE NOT SO GOOD: It is expensive and every source I could find had the same price. The filter cartridge needs to be replaced three or four times a year, depending on the hardness of your water, or when white dust accumulates on the unit or on a small mirror held to the fog. The ionic cube must also be replaced once a year. A testing strip is included and if your water has a hardness greater than 21 degrees dH, an ionic humidifier is not recommended. They suggest then using an impeller humidifier. The Desired Humidity cannot be set lower than 40%, but I found that setting it at 60% results in an actual humidity level of about 37% which is what I want anyway.

THE BAD: I couldn''t find any.

SOME NOTES ON OPERATION: The instructions say not to place the Stadler Williams directly on the floor or next to heating. I went to Ace Hardware and found a small, plastic step stool for $12 that is 5" high. This keeps the unit off the rug and makes it easier to access when changing settings. If you have an chest of drawers in the room with space on top it should work equally well. A review of the Swiss-O-Air reported good results from soaking the ionic cube in water for 24 hours before initial use to increase effectiveness. I don''t know if this is beneficial, but I did it and had no bad result.

I set my unit to Auto/Sleep

IMPORTANT: Several reviews of the Air-O-Swiss said that they used de-ionized water. The Stadler unit specifically recommends against this. It is designed to use with untreated water or with a drinking water filter system such as Brita. Using any additives are specifically warned against.

I wholly agree with the previous rater also funny, I used to work in Aurora, CO I now live in Alexandria, VA were it is a bit more humid, but during Winter like everywhere else humidity drops quite a bit and I like to keep the environment at no less than 45% this unit is:

(Pros)

1stylish

2convenient

3easy to carry around/easy maintenance

(Cons)

No major cons the than price for the unit itself and the parts not cheap but overall based on the convenience worth it! Also, the panel can be a bit distracting during the night with all the colors and bright lights but then again, I don''t sleep with my eyes open!

Buy Stadler Form William Ultrasonic Humidifier Black Now

I bought the WILLIAM to replace my Air O Swiss 7135 because it claims to cover 400 more sq feet (1000 vs 600) and my maybe 500 sq foot bedroom is very drafty in the winter compounded by the baseboard heat constantly kicking off all night. So I''ve got this humidifier to battle it out between a constant stream of cold and hot dry air.

Here are my pros and cons:

Pro Great steam production

Pro Double steam spout

Pro Totally quiet

Con Unit is black on the inside so not easy to see when it''s dirty and needs cleaning and no indicator for cleaning like on the Air O Swiss

Con Lights on panel are too bright. There''s a dim mode supposedly I haven''t found but for now I used some tape to cover up the disco show coming off the panel.

Con Tank is drippier compared to the Air O Swiss when I take it out to refill the tank.

Con Never heard of this company outside of Amazon and I''m worried what happens if I need service or replacement parts and they no long sell on Amazon.

Basically I bought the WILLIAM because I wanted more steam and I feel I''m getting it. As for my gripes; they''re all pretty negotiable.

There are some nice features on the Stadler Ultra Sonice Humidifier. I like the timer and sleep mode setting alot. I like the look of the unit and it''s light weight, so easy to move around from room to room if need be. It also creates a very nice mist...I am especially pleased with the mist output being very fine, because with other humidifiers I have used there were times I noticed the carpet nearby being slightly damp or with one the leather chair that was next to it having some patches of water. I haven''t this issue at all with the Stadler. I''m not thrilled with not being able to use my tap water though. I have hard water and in order to preserve the filters, I have been buying and schlepping home distilled water to use. I don''t use the humidifier everyday, but it is still an annoyance and actually I think about it before I do use it, thinking about schlepping more water home. I also don''t understand why the indicator lights have to be SO bright. I know LED lights are bright, but these seem like they were the brightest they could find. It''s not a big deal to tape a little cover over the lights, but when many people use a humidifier in their bedroom, it seems like something they could have taken into consideration. So while it''s a much better unit than I have used previously, for the price, I would expect not to have the water issue or the bright light one either for that matter.

Want Stadler Form William Ultrasonic Humidifier Black Discount?

I like the color and design, it is dark and compact and does not look like it should be in a hospital room. As advertised it is quiet make that silent, there is no noise. The tank lifts easily from the humidifier for easily refilling but you want to have a towel handy to put under the tank to catch drops of water when you remove the tank. The filter cartridges cost $20. We have soft water so supposedly we only have to change the filter every 60 days, but if your water is harder you would have to change it monthly so that could be a cost of $240 a year to add on to the cost of the humidifier that is a downside for me. My wife was experiencing some problem with her eyes because of the dryness of our weather and the humidifier has greatly helped. The only problem we experienced was a somewhat acrid odor when we first turned it on so I had to run it in the garage for three days before the odor was gone. We have only had the humidifier for three weeks but other than the initial odor and the the every other month expense for filters we are very happy with the product.

Bosch Vacuum Cleaner Premium Electro Duo XXL HC BSG81380UC Save 23% Off

Bosch Vacuum Cleaner Premium Electro Duo XXL HC BSG81380UCWhen I thought it was time to replace my trusty Miele White Pearl I looked to Consumer Reports for my ''research''. This was their top-rated unit ever and it came with a HEPA filter which I really wanted. I can weep when I see the price listed here because when I bought it in 2007 it cost over $2000 (CDN). For that price and with that endorsement I was confident it was a sure bet. I was so very wrong. The design was clever but the ergonomics were poor and I simply hated everything about it. Here''s why:

* The hose did not rotate on both the handle AND the vacuum ends -which means a fair bit of time spent fussing and untwisting it. It was awkward and cumbersome in the extreme.

* The "attachments" are all part of the hand unit which seems really clever while in truth all it means is they will require a fair bit of handling to disassemble the lot of them before you can use them and then you have to ''rebuild'' them. Your hands will be all over the business ends so if you are fussy about that kind of stuff, and I am, it will bother you. Once you do get them apart, and the one you need attached, you''ll find that not one of them is very good at their intended purpose -which I suspect is a result of the compromises to functionality their questionable origami-design required. (I loved the hygienic simplicity of my Miele where I could flip open the top of the canister with a tap of my toe and all the tools were nicely laid out for easy access and use.)

* The plastic material is cheap! Within 4 months the handle had already cracked. We are very low impact livers and treat our stuff with great care -that crack occurred with light use and careful handling.

* The cheap plastic holds static! The vacuum head and hose attracts and holds everything I am trying to vacuum up and the stuff just clings. Gross. I had to interrupt vacuuming to vacuum it off but found that in order to have any success I needed to use a damp clothe to wipe it down. Once vacuuming resumed so did the accumulation.

* The release collar on the telescoping extension is crudely designed and difficult to release. I really struggled with this and had to get my husband to help me on a couple of occasions. I am an able-bodied person and this was ridiculous.

I retired it after less than a year of owning it -it was retired right into the garbage which is what I thought it was. My cleaning lady asked if she could rescue it and was thrilled to have it -it was out of her price range and she thought she was getting something special. I assured her she was not. I ended up buying one of the new light weight Miele''s that had just came out... I love the long cord and the hose that swivels any which way I want -when I want it to -and the head is a marvel that swivels freely too and so easily it even goes flat so I can quickly scoot under the furniture! I especially appreciate that I do not have to vacuum my vacuum in order to vacuum.

Because of this debacle, I lost my faith in Consumer Reports and suspect that their criteria must be very different from the end users. Now before I buy I check out the reviews Amazon.com where I can hear from people who actually use the products. I find it''s the most reliable indicator, but even if there are raves about a product or brand there''s always going to be someone that got a dud, or had a really bad experience, which in this case was me.

I love my Bosch Premium, have had it for seven years and it has never failed me. I have two rowdy boys and a series of nannies who are not exactly gentle with household appliances, and this one has been one of the few that have survived the fishing of legos out with hangers, smashing against the walls and doors, and stepping on the head to change from ''carpet'' to ''floor.''

Huge fan!

Danze Closeout D510445RBDT Trim Kit

Danze Closeout D510445RBDT Trim Kit For Valve Only In Distressed BroThis product must be discussed with the corresponding valve, which unfortunately I think, may be discontinued now. Danze valves are the best on the market with ceramic parts, not cheap plastic that will require replacement later. The quality of this actual product (the valve trim) is great, the finish (distressed bronze) is so unique, so satisfying and unusual, I hope Danze continues to offer it so I can use this in my next bathroom remodel. The only thing I HAVE to point out that I didn''t see in the description was that there is writing in the finish that says hot and cold with a little swish detail. I don''t like it, my plumber told me its something that is required for building codes in some areas or something like that. I find it unattractive, but you only notice it when you are close to the fixture.

I guess its helpful for people who haven''t used this particular kind of shower valve, but I find it obvious-how to operate and therefore unnecessary. thats my 2 cents.

Yes, the handle does mean the resevoir will not sit flat while you fill it. Honestly, this has been ZERO issue for me. It is easy to fill and easy to carry and set into it''s base with the built in handle.

More importantly, this machine does a tremendous job creating humidity. It will indeed go through three gallons of water in a 24 hour period on the high setting.

The various fan speeds and automatic humidity level are great features in a $50 humidifier. Can''t go wrong at this price IMO.

I bought this humidifier and realized very quickly that it was going to be extremely difficult to fill the water tank. As others have mentioned, the top has a spoon shape that acts as a carry handle, but when you turn the tank upside down to fill it, you can''t rest it on it''s top! Holding the tank while filling it is awkward much less trying to hold it with one hand while screwing the fill cap on. This would be a nightmare for anyone that lacks upper body strength. Operationally the unit seems to run okay. I wish I would have bought one of the tower models instead.

I used to have an Essick Air 336-500 that was just perfect--quiet, easily humidified my bedroom at the lowest setting, no problems with the filter, adjustable analog humidistat. Naturally, that no longer appears available.

This Essick 7D6 100 was a disaster. There''s an electronic humidity gauge that can only set the humidity in 10% intervals (from 25%), so you can''t fine adjust. That might be ok, but for the fact that there''s virtually no relationship between the machine''s humidity gauge and the actual humidity of the room, as measured by a separate instrument (and, frankly, the correct instrument according to my sinuses).

Even for my quite small bedroom, this machine was unable to adequately humidify my air. After running it continuously all night, the humidity reached 33% after many hours. I was running it at its lowest setting because even that setting is too loud not to interfere with my sleep.

The lights from the electronics on this machine are bright enough to light up your bedroom at night.

After 3 weeks, the water wick inside the machine literally fell apart, even though I never touched it. The wick also had a number of black mold spots on it. Granted, they tell you to use an anti-microbial with the machine, which I had not done. On the other hand, with the 336-500 model, I had simply used water filtered through a WaterPik carbon block filter and never had any bacterial or mold growth. I did the same with this machine and ended up with an allergy nightmare. There most likely wasn''t enough black mold on the filter to account for why it fell apart.

When I contacted Essick and asked them to replace the filter, they asked for a copy of my receipt and a picture of the filter. I sent them both almost a month ago and have not heard from them nor received anything in the mail.

Although it was somewhat difficult to fill as the other reviewers have mentioned, that really didn''t bother me. I had more of an issue with the bottle that the anti-bacterial liquid came in, which I found was nearly impossible to add to the water tank without getting it on my hands and you are supposed to avoid contact with skin. My sister has the same unit and poured the liquid into a pump bottle which worked much better.

Unfortunately, I never got to try that because by the time she gave me the helpful hint, my unit had quit working. I got it for Christmas and it lasted the rest of that winter plus half of the next winter for a total of about 13 months, only 5 months of which it was actually in use.

The unit still turns on but the fan will not run, making it worthless.

I have used this unit lightly for two years and it just went dead. No power reading, fan doesn''t run. Before this I found it a bit awkward to fill the tank and placing it back in the unit. This might be a bigger deal for older people or those with gripping issues with their hands. My biggest issue is that there is no trouble shoot for this issue. I am not going to simply guess on what part to order. I will just order a unit from a different manufacturer.

Love the Crown Berkey. We were going to purchase the Big Berkey, never knew it came in this size. Being from Texas, bigger is better. We are only using 3 of the 4 elements and p0lan on buying some additional back up elements from this vendor. The price was right, delivered quickly, all good. We had heard that the spigots on Berkeys are sometimes problematic, we also ordered two back up spigots, also delivered quickly (seperately). We had now trouble assembling, directions we ok. We use it at home. We had some initial slow leak from the spigot, but I just went in a finger tightened it down a little further and no more issue. Good product, quality vendor. Would recommend.

I bought this product after a trial run with the berkey go (1 quart). Have tried (and previously owned/used) Brita, Pur, and ZeroWater. The Brita was ok, but left water occasionally tasting like plastic. The Zerowater always tastes like plastic and is much more expensive and not readily available. The Pur I used for years, but in the last 3 years the filters take forever to drain, though the water tastes good. I use a LOT of water. My town has issued lead warnings, so I wanted lead removal, great taste, and quantity--in that order. the Berkey Go proved to me that the berkey black filters could take stagnant tasting (dirt tasting) municiple water and transform it into natrual spring water tasting water. I went from choking down a single glass of water at work (my testing faucet) to drinking 1 to 2 quarts of water a day! JUST water! It is almost sparkling sweet after going through the filter! That was a eye opener. I had never been a big water drinker. always had to have tea, or something flavored, to mask to subtle favors infused in the municiple water supply. Having enjoyed the water from the berkey element for a couple of months, I finally decided on the size for my home. Berkey comes in several sizes,so the size decision was the main quandry. Being such a big tea drinker, I finally decided to buy the Crown for the volume it supplies. I have indeed used it to make tea, (multiple gallons on the same day, along with gatorade, and crystal orange drink) and still am drinking water straight from the Crown''s tap because the sweet spring taste just calls to me. The reservoir holds 8 gallons and filters way faster than the Pur and even the brita, the Zerowater would be close in time. But the taste knocks them ALL out of, well, the water. ;} I am now putting a gallon of filtered water in the fridge so that I have an Ice Cold option, but I still find myself going to the Crown''s tap after working outside in the heat. I would recommend Berkey with black elements to everyone!

I bought this filter system mostly because of the high fluoride content in my area and also because I got tired of buying bottled water all the time. I went ahead and purchased 4 fluoride filters and attached them to the Berkey black filters. As far as taste goes, the water coming out of the berkey taste somewhat better but not a whole lot. It kinda still tastes like tap water. At least I know the most of the fluoride is filtered out plus whatever else is in the water. The only problem I''ve had so far is the spigot. About a month after I got it the spigot started to get stuck in the open position. You had to push down on it to get it to stop. I called the supplier and was told I will be getting another one soon. I also went ahead and bought a wooden stand for it because it didn''t look good sitting on the counter. And lastly, I liked the fact that in a crisis you can use almost any kind of water in the berkey (well water, rain, river, streams, ponds and lake water) and get clean & safe water to come out. I also found a site where lab testing was done on the berkey system:

I''m still waiting on the new spigot but I got the old one to work by sanding the little vertical black plunger inside the spigot. It was too thick and was sticking when sliding through the top cap. Anyway, it works now with no problems, but I would still like the new one just in case.
