Purenex P-7PK RO Filters Premier 1-Year 5-Stage Reverse Osmosis Replacement Filter Kit

  • Features two 10-Inch sediment filter, four 10-Inch carbon block filters, and one 10-Inch polishing filter
  • Compatible with all standard RO and filtration systems
  • Kit contains 1 year''s worth of replacement filters
  • NSF Certified

We received this a while ago (Sept 2011). Since it was coming to our APO address (we are a US Navy family living in the Netherlands) I did not expect it to come as quickly as it did! We wanted something easy to install and that would purify our water (HIGH calcium content here!). It was OK to install READ THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLYand works VERY well. We always have great water now. I bought extra refills at the time to make sure we had what we needed when swapping out the filters. I may buy this same setup for our house in Idaho it''s great and for a decent (not break the bank!) price!

The finishing filter requires you to supply 3/8" fittings. So if your system is 1/4" you have to buy reducing fittings to go with your system ($15.00). The sediment filters are 10 micron on the outside and 5 micron on the inside. The carbon filters are as expected. If you want the sediment filters to be other than 10/5, then you have to order them seperately. I prefer the 1 micron filters.

I have a 4 stage ro system that was due for its 6 month filter change. Filters all fit great and water tastes great as well. What a deal. Carbon post filter is standard 1/4 FPT installed with ease. I now have filters left over for a second change.

After this order, i trust this Sender. I received all items with right time. Thus, I like giving the rate 5 out of 5.

Sanitary Filter

Sanitary FilterAs I''ve experienced with Midwest before, their shipping price ruins whatever savings you would find. They''re consistently higher than every other homebrew supply in the US.

Connectors too large for standard aquarium tubing. Even hard to get 1/4 inch inner diameter tubing attached without lots of stretching and hassle.

I am using the item to filter out contaminates from the air for a project that requires clean air. The item works great so far. ALSO I noticed the price just dropped today drastically. It was 7.50 now its 4.50. So I am guessing this vendor is responding to the other reviews. Try to find another product that will do the same job as this on this site. I have not found one personally. And as far as the not fitting the hose. I take a pair of needle nose pliers stick them inside the tubing. NOT the filter. The tubing. And then I apply a little heat to the tubing and stretch the mouth of the tubing to fit around the filter. OK not ideal I know but it works.

Avanti WD31EC Hot and Cold Countertop Water Cooler Save 22% Off

Avanti WD31EC Hot and Cold Countertop Water Cooler
  • Table top design
  • holds 3 & 5 gal bottles
  • cold and Hot temp
  • White
  • cup storage

I followed the preparation instructions to the letter and two days later I was getting complaints from co-workers that the flow was too slow and that, most importantly, it was leaking at a mild but consistent rate...and not from the drains at the bottom of the unit but from the seams along the sides of the bottom, especially if it were tilted (we don''t normally tilt our water dispenser but I did tilt it and it definitely increased in its pour rate). The unit would just sit there and leak at a slow but, again, consistent and irritating rate. I wish that I had just not bought it but I am glad that we have the old tall tower that this unit was to replace because of its nice size.

Think again before you buy this.

I bought this for my mother a year ago. It is too big, and it is basically useless.

The water trickles out so slowly it takes forever to fill a glass. It is cheaply constructed and doesn''t work well. Save your money, this would be better used as a boat anchor.

I like this water cooler for its small size and ease of use. You do have to flush with water and vinegar or baking soda to get the "plastic" taste out, but once that is done great tasting bottle water.

Only drawback, my kids love it and they quickly use the cold water. It takes about 25 minutes for the water in the reservoir to get cold.

Nonetheless, great for year around use!

This unit arrived promptly and in good condition. Set up is straight forward and it fits nicely on a shelf or desk. Water tasted good and cools nicely. Big problem is that water flows very weakly and so it takes forever to fill a cup. After filling a 12 oz cup it takes about a hour or so for the water to cool again. It is very quiet. Bottom line for a single user (or two) it is fine; but don''t get this if a lot of people will be using it frequently

Item came with a small crack at the top, wanted to return but after loading the water it works without problems. The cold and warm water takes awhile as the hold tank isn''t that big as expected from a table top dispenser. After filling two 24oz water bottle, the cold water was gone and my office mate had to drink room temperature water. This dispenser is good for a small office with 2 or 3 people unless they like room temperature water. Plus there is only one dispenser drip so the cold and warm water comes from the same dispenser. Don''t expect to have cold and hot water dispensing at the same time. The dispenser is also slow..it took awhile to fill my 24oz water bottle. The dispenser station is very short, probably fits a 12oz mug, so anything bigger must be tilted to be filled. This again is good for an office of 2-3 people, unless you like to have room temperature water or waiting in line for water.

Procter & Gamble Wht 3Stage Filtersystem 515 Ice Maker & End Of Faucet

Procter & Gamble Wht 3Stage Filtersystem 515 Ice Maker & End Of FaucetI had to order this on line and pay more than I should, but local stores (100 miles) refuse to carry the product. They are trying to force other similar items on us. This one makes for a one handed operation while the newer versions require switching hands between turning the water on and then turning the filter on.

This guy leaks. This is my second try with this model, thinking that maybe the first was a fluke. Unfortunately, the second did the exact same thing as the first: started leaking, then spraying water out of a crack that magically appeared in the area of the indicator window.

I do like the filter, the water tastes pretty good and the flow rate is good. It''s just the getting sprayed in the face while using it that bothers me. I will be trying one without the indicator window next, which is unfortunate. It''s a handy feature.

Hoover MaxExtract 77 Multi-Surface Pro Carpet & Hard Floor Cleaner Save 7% Off

Hoover MaxExtract 77 Multi-Surface Pro Carpet & Hard Floor Cleaner, FH50240This is my second Hoover, the first one didn''t survive lending it to my girlfriend. She took it apart to clean it and never could get it back together again. Oh well, it was about 20 years old and probably would be fine if I were to fix it.

As for this one, it works as well as the first one. I just cleaned my beige carpet which hadn''t been cleaned in at least 5 years. It looks almost new. Also I''ve been doing some landscaping and had tracked a lot of mud across the carpet and you would never know.

I also used it to clean my ceramic kitchen floor and it did a pretty good job. It didn''t get a few small spots (got most of them) where spills had been on the tile for a long time and it didn''t get the grout between the tiles. To be fair, in the past I had clean those spots with a scratch pad and the grout had to be cleaned with a brush. Still, it was much faster and did a better job than I achieved by hand. I didn''t use the squeegee because the grout lines negated the usefulness of it and it picked the water up fairly well.

________________________________________

On the downside, the brushes quit spinning shortly after I first used it or perhaps not at all, I''m not sure about that. I was going to return it, but figured it wouldn''t hurt to see if I could find the problem and fix it. The fix was very simple.

First you need to remove the dirty water tank. Under the tank near the front of the machine there is a impeller unit housed in a black irregularly shaped part with a screen facing the front of the machine. You can see it on the first picture posted here by "Peggles". It''s just behind the yellow spray bar in the front.

First remove the front (suction guide) of the machine. It is the piece with the lettering on the front of it. Near the top (under the water tank) there is a plastic tab that you pull on and rotate the piece forward. It will come right off. This is the same piece that you need to remove to get access to the front screen.

Next, Remove the 2 front screws and the 2 back screws (not the 2 middle screws) on the impeller unit and it will lift off the machine. On the side of the impeller unit you will see a number of tabs holding the top and bottom together. Carefully pry the tabs out (a little) and pull the top and bottom of the unit apart. Once that is done, turn the unit over and you will see the impeller.

On my machine the impeller would not turn, so I rocked it back and forth until it did. Once I did this, the impeller would spin freely. I put everything back together and it has been working fine ever since.

________________________________________

Another problem I had the first time I used it was that it quit sucking up water. As others have mentioned, there are two screens that, if not cleaned, will prevent the cleaner from sucking up water. So, just inspect and clean these screens every time you dump the dirty water and it will work just fine.

________________________________________

These misgivings aside, this is a nice machine.

What I like about this machine over my older one is that the tanks are easier to remove and dump, especially the dirty water tank. I also like the separate tanks for the cleaning solvent and water.

BTW, I sent an email to Hoover regarding both of my concerns.

I recently purchased the Max 77 to clean a bonus room that had been heavily soiled by kid and dog traffic. The unit performed much better than the unit I typically rent, a Rug Doctor. I am extremely impressed by how well the unit cleans. The unit is easy to clean and the dual dispenser, separate soap and water containers, is a real plus. The unit is a great deal easier to operate then the Rug Doctor and the wide stance saves time and effort. While I typically do not endorse products, this is an exception. The Hoover MaxExtract 77 saved me the expense of replacing my carpet, a feat that I thought would be impossible to accomplish.

I spent several weeks researching different types of carpet cleaners, and was actually aiming for a bissel when I looked this product over and opted for Hoovers the much easier two container (holds way more water=less time filling and emptying)unit. I got this product during a sale at Kohls, and it''s brilliant. Assembled in minutes, and was cleaning my carpets 20 mins after getting home. I noticed the brushes weren''t turning, so I took out the dirty water dispenser and noticed the arm that controls the brushes was vertical. I moved it down, and voila, the brushes work fine now. The speed control doesn''t appear to make that much of a difference in rotations. I don''t use it anyway.

Clean up is super easy, and the soap mixer/dispenser is a very welcome addition. The power surge really does do a surge, lol, the first time I overdid it a little, and spent some extra time getting the water up from the carpet. Thing is, it picked up all that water, and the wet spot was as dry as the rest of the carpet.

I found that going over the area again after a few minutes picks up even more water, and yes, I had one area of carpet that was literally dry to the touch in a couple of hours.

This carpet was brand new when we moved in one year ago, and there was some pretty dirty water! But, when completed, the carpet looked like it had just been laid down again without that nasty new carpet smell. I have a small dog that lives for marking one of my loveseats, and the upholstery cleaner had it looking (and smelling!) brand new in no time flat.

I like that it''s dual surface, it''s cleaned my ceramic tile floors within an inch of their life and they are sparkling white again and dry as a bone. It''s got a squeegee attachment that I haven''t used yet.

This thing truly sucks!!! ROFL, in a very, very good way!

Years of good experience with Hoover products and very good features on this machine led us to purchase it. It was easy to assemble and directions were good. However, it did not work. Cleaning solution was not being dispensed during operation, it was just wetting the carpet and sucking it sort of dry. Two days after we received the machine, we phoned customer support at Hoover; they were woefully unhelpful. Their only offer: If we paid to ship it back, they would send us a repaired one. I figured it was a sucker deal to offer us a repaired machine to replace a new machine that was faulty.

Amazon, however, took the machine back at no charge and sent a new one, as we requested, also at no charge for shipping. I can always trust Amazon to stand behind their sales!

The machine''s features are so good, I''ll try again. But it better be good this time! And Hoover needs to listen to engineers and business people rather than their bean counters. They need to have responsive customer service.

Update: Amazon (bless them!) sent a new cleaner right away. Great service and response, very good phone support by Amazon. The new cleaner works fine so far and cleans very well. We have used it only once; I''ll wait and see.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this carpet cleaner comparing features and weight of the machine. Not that this is a light weigh machine, but I did find that the Platinum models all were a good bit heavier. I love the separate containers for clean and dirty. The collection tank also opens up to allow you to clean the dirty tank. Some may think no big deal after all it just gets filled with dirty water. For us pet owners we know what we may have to be sucking out of the carpet that is a big plus. This feature sold me on the hoover over a Bissel. Also it does suck up alot of the water. While it claims no more wet socks, that requires a logistical miracle. You do go back over the carpet a couple times to suck up all the water. It sucks up enough that it is dry with in a couple of hours (with the help of a fan).

my carpet is very light colored and had very dark streakssome that were made worse by cheap carpet cleaners. This cleaner was a last ditch effort to avoid replacing my carpet and it did the trick. At first I thought it was leaving a good bit of dirt behind but by the time I turned it to rinse and then went over it once to help get the water up, it was great. I highly recommend this model!

Brita 42633 Faucet Filtration System

Brita 42633 Faucet Filtration System, Black/Chrome
  • Unlimited, great-tasting water
  • Brita''s most advanced water filtration system
  • Tool-free set up
  • LED filter replacement indicator
  • Brita On Tap faucet filters

I may be reiterating what many of the reviewers before me have said, but I may have a few helpful points to add.

First, they should have never used plastic adapters. Kitchen faucets with internal threads are quite common and the likelihood is high that you will have to use one of the included adapters to attach the filter to that kind of faucet. The plastic threading simply can''t withstand the water pressure that will inevitably push on it when you turn the water on all the way.

It would have been very easy for them to use quality steel parts, and I''m sure most people would have been happy to even pay $5-10 more for something that will actually last. It is especially surprising that they would cut corners on a product where the real profit comes from the replacement filters rather than the original purchase. Who knows what they were thinking (or if they were thinking at all), but this product simply doesn''t work when setup correctly.

The use of plastic is not where the problems end, however, because there is literally less than a half an inch of exposed threading within the top portion of the adapter. The adapters themselves also have around a quarter inch of threading. This is really a shame, because even using a weak material like plastic might be sufficient if they had enough threads engaging to strengthen the connection.

That said, if you are set on using this product (or forced to), here are a couple of things you can do to help alleviate the problem. I''ve gotten mine to work long enough for me to order something from one of their competitors.

Turn the water pressure down on your faucet. In case you don''t know how, there are usually two levers (one hot, one cold) underneath your sink that control the water supply. Try tightening them until the water flow is slow enough that it won''t blow the filter off.

Try epoxy or a similar plastic bonding agent. I used epoxy to bond the adapter to the filter mount. You can then screw it on by holding the rotating ring in place. This is an irreversible and permanent solution, but it will make it so that there is only one point that will leak.

Another poster suggested you can contact Brita to get a metal replacement adapter. That may be a good solution. However, keep in mind that you will still have to screw the metal adapter into a short length of plastic threading. That may simply shift the weakest point to a different part of the mount.

I was cautious after reading the disgruntled reviewers state the Brita On Tap''s alleged weaknesses but figured it was so easy to put on and take off that worst case scenario I''d just return it. The first thing I learned is that my sink faucet has threads on the inside. This means I had to use the Brita''s included adapter. The adapter fit easily but without the washer. I could never get it on with the washer attached. This would be a problem if I had leaks or erratic water flow but so far that has not been a problem. After installing the base system to the faucet three minutes later, I was done. Now it was time for the taste test. Very good. The water didn''t have the normal bad aftertaste from normal tap water and I''m now poised to cancel my water delivery, which is costing me about 650 dollars a year and which for all I know has more impurities than the company is willing to divulge. Compared to my Brita system--30 dollars for the unit and then 60 dollars a year in filters (every 3 months you have to buy a 15 dollar filter), I''d say I''m ahead more than 500 dollars a year. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Update: I discovered I couldn''t put in the supplied washer in with the adapter because the old washer was "hiding" in the faucet. Once I took out the old washer, I was able to put on the adapter as prescribed in Brita''s instructions. I tightened firmly by hand and there are no leaks or spattering problems. For the money, a very good unit indeed.

Second Update on 1-12-10

After 3.5 years, the system finally started leaking all over the place. A $30 system that lasts that long still seems like a fair deal.

We have gone through 3 of these in 2 years. The actual water filter works great but the way it attaches to your sink will eventually fail and end up spraying you or completely falling off. The attachment parts are plastic and if the threads don''t get stripped while you put it on the first time, they will eventually wear down and then there is nothing you can do except shell out more bucks for a new one mainly just for the little plastic threaded connector. Also, the indicator light is not 100% reliable. I recall it flashing red for weeks even though we had just put a brand new filter in the holder.

Want Brita 42633 Faucet Filtration System Discount?

There are a couple of things to be aware of before you buy this.

The indicator lights are powered by a non-replaceable battery. Britta says it has a 5 year life but if it fails sooner it can''t be replaced. After that, no indicator for filter replacement.

The mounting fittings that come with the filter are cheap plastic and I couldn''t mount mine without it blowing off if the water was turned up too high. Call Britta and they will send (free) metal fittings but it takes a couple of weeks.

Britta automated phone assistance is horrific to navigate.

NYC water clogs faucet filters fast. I''ve tried a few systems and so far this one has lasted the longest. It''ll go for a month+ before it needs replacement. Not the full four months Brita claims but the other brands I tried lasted less than two weeks. I''ve had the system for 6 months.

Cuisinart SS-700 Single Serve Brewing System Save 54% Off

Cuisinart SS-700 Single Serve Brewing System, Silver - Powered by KeurigAs many others here, I have evolved from a Keurig system. So for those thinking about buying a Keurig, please fully read all the reviews you can. If it wasnt for me being the only coffee drinker in the house, I wouldnt require a single cup brewing system. So for those looking into buying Keurig brewing system, consider the Cuisinart. It is licensed to be manufactured by Keurig, bu appears to be much better quality. I had my first Keurig go out with within 6 months. Then my second stopped functioning properly after less than 45-days. Same issue as another review, the Keurig Platinum began brewing small, random sized amounts of coffee and would also get confused on how much to brew and when to stop. Found out once it was returned to the store, the unit was recalled (for defective water pumps). Which also meant ALL the stores in town were ALL sold out...as they were all returned to the vendor.

Now, my buddy convinced me to get the Cuisinart. I have owned many Cuisinart kitchen utensils, but never anything electric. So I was skeptical to say the least. But at the same time I had to replace my last 2 Keurigs. So why not.

Now, 2 months later, a whole lot of coffee (125 servings +) and it is working great! I can only hope that Cuisinart has a more reliable vendor for there water pumps than Keurig. As that seems to be the big issue with all Keurig machines.

The Good:

-Power Switch is on the side of the machine (compared to the back of the machine on Keurigs)

-Water Tank Size

-Replaceable Charcoal Water filter

-FREE, reusable Keurig coffee filter

-Quiet

-Reliable (so far)....what a concept

-More cup size options

-"Rinse" button

-Pre-set water temps

-Auto On/Off

-Read-Out display clearly states "Not Ready" and "Ready"

-"Hot Water" button will dispense a full cup of hot water (which ever size you have selected will be dispensed in hot water)

The Bad:

-Power Switch is on the side of the machine....PUT IT ON THE FRONT ALREADY!

-Large footprint

-"Low Water Level" flashing blue LEDs are annoying. Its a clear water tank, I can see its low/empty

-Bottom catch/drip tray doesnt stay in place very well

-If you place a K-Cup inside the unit before its "Ready" (see above in The Good), it will not recognize the K-Cup once it is ready to brew. So you must lift and close the access lid one more time to allow it to brew. Not very time saving.

-"Hot Water" button will dispense a full cup of hot water; so if your machine is used primarily for coffee, you will have random loose chunks of old coffee grounds floating around in your cup of hot water since its inevitable to NOT get coffee grounds on the unit.

-Parts are not necessarily dishwasher safe. So I suggest hand washing periodically.

I will try to remember to give a 6-month review on the quality.

*****FOLLOW UP*****

08/01/2010 (175+ K-Cups)

Sadly, this follow-up is not what I had hoped. But, maybe it needs to be de-scaled/cleaned? Anyway, here is the new "problem"....(tsk tsk tsk)

The Setup: The machine, after brewing a cup will "prime" the system by sucking in what I would consider about 1/2 of the water necessary to brew a cup into the system itself. I would think this is done to heat the water inside the system, so the water temperature stays at a more consistent/constant temperature. This makes sense considering the machine has pre-set water temp setting and it must be quite difficult to keep the water exiting the system at a constant temperature.

The Fail: After brewing only one cup, the system triggers the prime function and sucks in how ever many ounces it needs. But, it doesnt suck in any water. The machine makes all the appropriate noises, but the water level inside the tank stays the same and it wont stop! This function normally takes about 3-5 seconds to complete. 10+ seconds later, it still has not achieved anything (poor little water pump)! That will be the number one killer of a water pump is dry-cycling. Argh!!!

So the solution so far is to shut off the unit, turn it back on and viola! It works! Now every time the unit does not have enough water inside, it will always prime itself by pumping in the appropriate amount of water. So this causes the water pump to work 2-3x more than most coffee pots. Maybe its over working the pump?

*Clean/De-Scale the unit: This is recommended every month or so. I have chosen NOT to do it since I use bottled (distilled) water 100% of the time along with the little charcoal filter that comes with it. I dont want to go waste 3 bottles of water cleaning out a system that should be perfectly clean anyway! I would assume the clean/de-scale is meant for people who have good tasting tap water (which we do not have in Las Vegas).

Maybe the charcoal filter is "clogged" and not allowing water to seep through as quickly? Who knows...

Ill update if anything else goes wrong!

*****FOLLOW UP*****

8/28/10

Problem continues as posted above. I have de-scaled the system, but it didn''t help. The entire system was perfectly clean and de-scaling did not dislodge anything. Ive come to now realize this isn''t really a problem as much as it is an inconvenience. You must cycle the system off/on to make it work. I let it sit a few night ago for about 3 minutes, and it never remedied itself. =0(

*****FOLLOW UP*****

11/27/10 (Unit #2)

Finally had to replace it! The machine has gradually become slower, noisier and overall horribly inefficient. The machine would take forever to heat up, multiple attempts to suck water into the machine from the reservoir and then began dispensing water back into the reservoir and not brewing coffee. Last 5 days before the machine was finally returned for a new unit, brewing coffee was painful and time consuming. Took 3-4 cycles to brew a single 12oz cup. Got it replaced and got a new one last night. Amazingly, this machine really got worn out fast. The new one its a whole lot quieter, faster and some simple things like the on/off switch works a lot easier and other issues.

*****FOLLOW UP*****

03/05/2011 (Unit #3)

The water pump again took a crap on me. The unit and pump had once again slowly gotten noisier and slower. This time (the past few weeks) the unit took about 10 seconds of wait time to simply begin brewing. Just as a reminder. I am the only person using the unit. The unit runs about 1.15 servings a day on average. Pretty crappy reliability. But...more "free" coffee and a new Keurig "Make Your Own" filter. Im up to 3 now!

This unit replaces a Keurig mini that I now us for travel. It makes a flavorful, hot cup of coffee. I have been a Keurig fan for three years. I purchased this machine in Feb. 2010 from BB&B. Like other readers, I have had a few pump problems when there seemed to be an air lock in the pump and water would not flow into the heating chamber. The instruction booklet tells you to turn it off and unplug the unit, then restart. I have found that when I refill the water tank I just need to make sure it is properly seated and tap it to make sure the water is getting into the hose that pumps it into the heating chamber. I also use the hot water feature the first "brew" after refilling the tank to make sure the pump is pulling water. (The easiest solution to the pump "problem" is to not take the water chamber off of the base and just refill it with a pitcher as needed.) I did some online research and found that this pump problem was suppose to have been fixed since I purchased my machine. I might have returned this machine for the newer "fixed" model if the BB&B where I purchased it had not closed. I love the coffee from this machine and have had no further pump issues since employing the solutions noted above.

I have both Keurig and Cuisinart K cup machines...

About me... I am an embedded systems design engineer and know about control systems and such.

Food processing products should only use parts ( components ) in the water / control systems internal to the coffee maker that are "fit for purpose" as designed to be use with WATER.. as a coffee maker uses water.

I have opened several of my failed Keurig and Cusinart K cup machines and found that they are using an AUTOMOTIVE Market Pneumatic Solenoid Valve made in China.. part number SH-V0829...Google this number if you want to check and see this. It is designed for auto seat cushon inflation and has a built in LEAK RATE of 1CC/Min at 4 PSI for air compresser unloading used in seat cushon inflation systems. It is NOT WATER PROOF and DRIPS inside the coffee makers in the transformer and the air pump near the bottom getting the electric motor wet and make it smoke.. My coffee maker was way too young to smoke .. hahha just a joke..

The folk that make this coffee maker IN CHINA think most folk are too stupid to find out about their use of cheep and unfit for purpose components inside their coffee maker. I have attached a DOOR and Hinge on the back of one of my coffee makers that I keep repaired personally.. and buy the replacement control solenoids on ebay to keep my coffee maker working.... THIS SUCKS..... I was ripped off...

I did not pay for a rusty solenoid that leaks water inside my $250.00 coffee machine. When I call Keurig... they do talk some but avoid the topic of this solenoid.. just reading a standard reply statement... When I talk to Cuisinart.. they have nothing to say but want my $10 for shipping a replacement unit... also with the same defective solenoid inside of the same type and part number...

I want to like my coffee maker.... but I do not like being treated like a fool ...

My old Mr Coffee has very nice insides... good design.. and lasted a long time... I am wanting to see Mr Coffee make a K cup that I would like... Cuisinart and Keurig are only about making money .. and not delivering INTERNAL quality of their product with this machine.. They come from the SAME China factory...and they are made using non water proof no O ring air only pneumatic solenoid valves... The part numbers are on the side of the solenoid if you care to open up your machine and look... Do not have it plugged in if you do.. safety first..

I hope you like having RUSTY water in your hot water for making tea and coffee.... the solenoid does rust internally as it is only for air usage...not made for water exposure...

I have photos and also plan to use this experince in a control system class I teach at a University as an example of poor ethics in business manufacturing...

I need not say how MAD I am over this discovery .....and the lack of interest from the folks that make this product..

Barnum and Bailey.. a sucker is born every minute... that must be their motto..

I must be a sucker... THAT SUCKS

I have been using a Keurig Platinum Machine for about a year now and had to replace it 2 times. Once for both hot and cold water draining out of the bottom of the unit and the second for making expresso size cups when I asked for the 11.25 oz. cup. I returned the Keurig and got this Brand New Cuisinart about 3 weeks ago. It works great, the water container is larger and the max cup size is 12oz. I get great cups of coffee and the machine works beautifully. I use regular tap water with the charcoal filters and the coffee taste is super. So far this machine is the best I have had and I think Cuisinart makes a superior product every time. You can make your own Kcups since Cuisinart has included one in the side of the machine for your delight at no extra cost.

I purchased the Cuisinart after going through 3 Keurig B70s and a Brevelle since Christmas, (all three were defective with pump problems and very LOUD.) The Brevelle 700 worked okay but had these really annoying flashing lights that flashed all the time "Open Head". The arrow lights were extremely bright and bothersome.

So far the Cuisinart SS700 works really well. Very little noise and the pump works just fine. I like the larger water tank and nothing flashes at me!

There are many filtration systems that fit under your sink. I chose the Aqua-Pure system years ago because it is compact and took care of the rather modest drinking water problems in this area, mostly just the chlorine taste. My filter is hooked up to a separate water faucet that is used only for drinking, coffee and cooking water.

The Aqua-Pure does a good job for me. The water tastes just fine, no chlorine taste or smell, no noticeable impurities. Changing it every six months is best in this area. If I wait a year, the water flow is too slow and the the water tastes so much better after the replacement, indicating that I was being too cheap and should have replaced it earlier.

Changing it isn''t too bad. Bear in mind that both the outer case and the filter cartridge itself have to be screwed in. Both are plastic and so the "feel" is sticky and vague and tightening is not intuitive. Be careful, especially with the cartridge as that little nipple is not exactly robust.

So, this system works, is hidden and handy. Are the cartridges worth $25 bucks a shot, at least $50 a year? I would say that if your water is not too horrible and two changes a year are ok, then the price is high, but relatively affordable. If your water is worse, then I think you would be better off with something like a reverse osmosis system. If the water in your area is truly horrible, then you need a special industrial system. Even if the price of filters is ok with you, the Aqua-Pure is for low-flow use at a tap only.

And, as with any dedicated water filter, adding a separate faucet can be difficult or look odd. I got a sink with enough openings to make adding a faucet easy enough and it integrates nicely.

At some point, order the gasket for the housing. Good to have on hand just in case. Mine has lasted years, but you never know...

Three stars because the product works as advertised. Lost two stars for higher than necessary cost and somewhat chancy tightening with plastic to plastic threads.

I am happy with the filter, however an "O" ring should be provided along with the filter. To purchase the "O" ring separate would cost $3.99 plus $6.99 s&h.

Ridiculous.

Went into the filter housing perfectly, and it is doing the job I expected. I change the filter about every 6 months in my Vacation home and find that it keeps most of the dirt and brown stuff from getting to the faucets. i also use a charcoal filter in a second housing in line with this, that helps with the taste and odor. We are satisfied with the results and drink our water straight fromthe faucet.
