Counter Top Water Filter System Save 39% Off

Counter Top Water Filter SystemReceived my new countertop water filter in timely fashion and it NOW works well. I had to go to Home Depot to purchase a faucet adaptor ($5.00) as none is included with the product...even though it clearly states it is included. The supplier''s response was basically...it''s your responsibility. The screw on fitting supplied has a female thread while every kitchen faucet I ever owned requires a male thread to attach where the aerator is. The posted ad on Amazon also says 1 Micron filter included, again not so, packing slip says "Filters Sold Seperately" and I was charged an additional $10.89. Also an extra $.79 for a plastic wrench to open the filter. The unit works very well, removing any processed water "smells". A definite plus for a city boy (Philly) looking to ditch the bottled water habit!

Mr. Heater F232000 MH9BX Buddy 4,000-9,000-BTU Indoor-Safe Portable Radiant Heater Save 40% Off

Mr. Heater F232000 MH9BX Buddy 4,000-9,000-BTU Indoor-Safe Portable Radiant HeaterIf you fulltime in an RV, you know about cold days & nights. Maybe you want to warm the bedroom before showering, or maybe you want to warm your tootsies while watching DWTS. This "Portable Buddy" will do the trick for short bursts of heat.

I''m amazed to say the sides & bottom remained cool to the touch ("cool" as in room temp) after a full hour of use. Of note: it didn''t heat a glass of cold water touching its side. Indeed, the LP can on the other side got cold enough to attract condensate! No gas smell during use.

It includes an oxygen sensor among its multiple failsafes -but take care when using it in an RV bedroom. If you put it on a dresser, it could melt your ceiling. Also, your bedroom will heat up VERY quickly, so please don''t leave it unattended.

Disposable LP cans cost a lot, but right now I only plan to use it for spot applications. In the future, though, I''ll look at a refillable 4lb tank to make it cheap to operate.

I bought two of these heaters a year ago for emergencies and they have been sitting in their box ever since. But, when hurricane Sandy knocked out power, they more than paid for themselves. I got them for winter storms and never thought I''d be using them in cold weather after a hurricane. They worked exactly as advertised. These are not whole house heaters. They are great room heaters and make life much more comfortable in an emergency. They have several safety features but I also have a carbon monoxide detector that I keep in the room with them. It''s probably like wearing suspenders and a belt but it makes me more comfortable to have a detector as an extra safety precaution. In my emergency supplies I also have a camp stove and lantern. These all take the same one pound propane bottles. I keep a case of the gas bottles on hand. This gives me heat, light, and hot coffee in the morning. I don''t like it when the electric goes out but I try to get into the camping trip mentality and make the most out of an uncomfortable situation. These heaters helped me do that and stay comfortable.

Buy Mr. Heater F232000 MH9BX Buddy 4,000-9,000-BTU Indoor-Safe Portable Radiant Heater Now

I bought the heater for power outages and camping but I was surprised by how little odor it produces, even on the high setting. During the week I don''t bother heating my whole condo, just the master bedroom, but it gets chilly in the kitchen when I''m making a quick meal or my lunch for work. In that situation the baseboard heaters are too slow. Long before they start to decrease the chill, I''m finished with what I''m doing. This little heater though is very quick. Moments after I start the heater it''s noticeably warmer.

It''s pretty cool (LOL, no pun intended). It''s pretty cool when you buy something for emergencies and then find out that it''s so useful that you use it every day. A happy surprise.

This is my second Mr. Heater product, I also have the smaller version. This is a significant improvement in both heat capacity and being "Indoor-Safe". It has proven very effective and reliable, and it makes living aboard my boat in the winter (Chesapeake Bay) quite comfortable. Especially this winter, ''09-''10.

I bought one of these from a local store. It works well and I got 4-5 hours of use from the 1 pound canister of propane. The only drawback is when I used it in my deer stand the wind kept blowing the pilot out thus the heater went out. If you can block the wind with a skirt around your stand it may help. I have used the heater in the house and it works fine and really does heat up the space even on low setting.

Everpure EV9318-40 Solaria Instant Hot Water Dispenser Save 20% Off

Everpure EV9318-40 Solaria Instant Hot Water Dispenser
  • Produces piping hot water on demand at 190-Degree with fingertip temperature adjustment
  • 100-Cups of water per hour, delivering more volume than the competition
  • Compact unit mounts on wall in virtually any cabinet
  • Powerful 1300-watt for quicker recovery
  • 0.5 GPM flow

I was told that this unit was far superior to the Insinkerator that I was replacing after 10 years of great service. Not true.

The delivery of the water is uneven, you never know when it will dispense. When it builds up steam in the unit, it just starts dripping to relieve the pressure. There must be a better way, as I didn''t have to put up with the dripping with my Insinkerator. I can''t wait to replace it and it would be gone now, if I hadn''t paid so much for it. It just feels flimsy, sorry it''s not that hot.

I owned a Franke Little Butler. It is the same as this unit. There are about a half dozen suppliers of this identical unit all branded differently, but it has the same guts inside. For $140 bucks you can''t go wrong. Mine lasted about 5 years. I could spend $85 to replace the immersion heating element inside the stainless steel tank, but its so easy to disconnect the two hoses, unplug the power, lift up the unit off the wall-mount bracket and be done with it. It should take 1/2 hour. They are cheaply made, so buy two and put one in the garage for 5 years from now. They''ll probably double in price; where are you going to get that kind of return for your money? Certainly not at Wells Fargo or Bank of America. Oh, the dripping and steaming another reviewer experienced means they had the thermostat set too high. NOTE: If you are going to go away for a while, unplug this unit...the tank is open to the atmosphere and 190 degree water will evaporate over time. The unit does have a thermostat so it will keep cycling on and off till all the water is gone and your immersion heating element burns out. Another reviewer experienced waiting a long time for the water to come out and low temperatures. This unit fills the tank from the bottom up. Hot water rises above cold water. When the tank is finally full, the overflow rises up the center tube and out of the sink fixture; if it takes a long time, that means it has been some time since it was last dispensed from and/or the thermostat is set high. Use a thermometer in a glass of dispensed water to check the temperature and adjust the temperature setting for 190 degrees.

Long Island Homeowner gave a lot of good feedback. I have tried a couple and this is the best that I have had. The unit can produce over 4 cups of very hot water in one run, I haven''t tried the upper limit but that is good enough for most needs. It also has a very fast recovery so you can get more hot water very quickly.

There is some sensitivity to routing of the hot hose to the faucet. If the hose droops down from the unit before going up you will get a little cool water and a sputter/burst of air before getting hot. Be sure to mount the unit level, if you don''t the steam won''t vent properly and you can get sputtering. Construction is average but everything is thin walled so I don''t expect infinite life. Then again, as noted the replacement process is SIMPLE so it really isn''t much of an issue.

This is a replacement for the same item I purchased 4 years ago. You can''t find the replacement heating element so you have to buy a whole new unit. This one ''boils over'' and has air bubbles in the line if the temp is set to the highest setting. The old one didn''t ''bubble'' over. Not really in love with the fact that I have to spend $240 every 4 years for the convenience of instant hot water, but once you commit to the connection type, you can''t easily change vendors.

BestAir A12-6 Aprilaire 12 Metal Waterpad

BestAir A12-6 Aprilaire 12 Metal WaterpadI ordered this filter when we moved into our new house. Our humidifier is extremely old but is working fine with the new filter. It was easy to replace, even for a not-so-do-it-yourselfer like me.

I ordered the correct pad, but they seem to have made it perhaps one half inch shorter in dimension. Otherwise it appears to be equal to the original pad, and it works just fine.

PUR Ultimate Faucet Mount

PUR Ultimate Faucet MountI''d give this 3 1/2 stars if I could.

When you first attach the PUR filter, it works beautifully. Water comes out fast, and comes out clean. But fairly soon, and well before the filter is supposedly used up, the filter cuts down on the flow as it gets more and more clogged. After a while it can take 30 seconds to fill up a glass of water. Ours also has a leakage problem that is exacerbated the more clogged the filter is (the leak comes from the plastic covering that tells you how used up the filter is)...Don''t know if ours is defective or if this is typical.

We have since bought a PUR pitcher filtration system, and that seems to be more convenient to use because you don''t have to sit there like a ... waiting for your glass to fill up.

PUR is superior to BRITA filters, by the way, because they also filter giardia and cryptosporidium, two bacteria that can cause intestinal illnesses. This is especially important if you live in areas with iffy water systems (i.e. St. Petersburg, Russia, which is full of giardia/Mexico) or if you have a weak immune system.

The PUR filters work out to about 25 cents per gallon of filtered water. It costs more to filter dirtier water and less to filter cleaner water.

When you finally throw out the used filter, try cracking it open and having a look at all the nasty gunk that you didn''t put into your body. It''s definitely worth the price, don''t you think?

... I bought my Pur Faucet Mount filter two years ago, when my new place had funny-tasting water. The filter really cleared it up and made it tasteless -... I really like how easy it is to use either filtered or unfiltered water (depending on what I''m doing) with just a quick flip. Also, the spray feature is great. Overall, this filter has saved me from drinking nasty water (and lots of money from buying bottled water).

My only complaint: the faucet mount itself is a bit bulky,

Overall, it''s a great filter and easier than remembering to refill one of those pitchers.

Buy PUR Ultimate Faucet Mount Now

(COMMUNITY FORUM 04)We have been known to make our every-two-week pilgrimage to Costco to get our bottled water. Honestly, it is a lot of work to carry water around. And like PUR notes in their ad: "There''s more than one way to get 100 Gallons of Drinking Water into your home."

So, something had to be done. This was a serious situation. I need water for tea, when working out and basically for cooking. I refuse to drink water that has not been filtered, just out of principle.

The other problem with bottled water is the bottles you have to recycle. I will probably still buy some bottled water, but the recycling load will be much less.

What amazed me was the ease of installation. Before, I had tried to install an under the cabinet "fancy smancy" water filtration unit which was much higher in price. What then occurred was a leak in the system and unfortunately I did not realize that on certain kitchen faucets, you can''t do the installation yourself when installing a water purifier. I then had to call a plumber and had to install an entirely new kitchen faucet.

Save yourself this hassle and expense.

To Install this product:

1. You remove the faucet aerator.

2. Check for an adaptor (they include a few for internal threaded faucets)

3. Attach the filter to your faucet.

4. Install the filter cartridge.

Yes, it is that easy. Sure beats water torture as you are under the sink trying to peer into the pitch darkness of under cabinet plumbing life and water is dripping on you in a most annoying fashion. I have a completely new respect for plumbers now.

The PUR "Activated Carbon Microfilter" filter up to 100 gallons of water which means you replace the filter every 2-3 months.

There is an "automatic safety monitor": that has a red line which appears in a little window at the front of the filter when the end of the filter life occurs. At such time, you just replace the filter. Keep one on hand for such a day.

What I found as a bonus was the "Swivel sprayer" that attaches to the entire system. The water that makes its way through the filter also comes out in a spray fashion. The "ByPass" feature means that you can still use your regular water for washing dishes and then switch back to filtered water by rotating the water filter at the faucet. While I thought this filter would get in the way, it really doesn''t.

This product claims to reduce lead, mercury, asbestos, MTBE, and TTHMs. This product should not be used with microbiologically unsafe water.

Five Stars for ease of installation and peace of mind! I can even order the filters here with book orders.

Such convenience.

I dont want to be mean about this but read the manual. It will tell you to run the new filter for 5 minutes to set the the filter resin. If you do this the filter will provide good flow for the full length of the filter (I get 3 months). If you dont it will slow to a trickle in days.

I have owned these for years. I say these becasue I have had two break and the third is now broken and needs replaced. One of them started leaking out the sight window, another cracked down the side and the most recent failure is that the valve for switching between filtered or not filtered is leaking.

The work great and each time I have had a problem customer service sent me out a new one immediately, I got it in days.

Want PUR Ultimate Faucet Mount Discount?

We use about a gallon of water a day, and I''m tired of lugging bottled water from the store. We settled on the Pur filter based on its capabilities (they claim to filter out more than the competition).

We get a decent flow for two or so days after replacing the filter (about two gallons worth), but it quickly degrades after that. After about a week, it takes about a minute to fill up a glass. After another week, it''s more like three minutes (which seems like an eternity when you''re thirsty at 3am!). After that, it''s pointless -it drips, drips, drips into the glass.

It''s become even worse recently, even after installing a brand-new unit (the whole thing not just the filter). Now, we get about a week out of a filter. I give it two stars because though I''m frustrated by it''s slow flow, the water we do get out of it is good.

Maybe this is a NYC thing? Perhaps other parts of the country have cleaner water? I don''t know. All I do know is that if you live around here, think about another alternative.

ProTec Humidifier Tank Cleaning Cartridge Save 24% Off

ProTec PC-1 Humidifier Tank Cleaning CartridgeI''m a medical professional and Mom of 3 kids. I researched this product extensively before using it. I thought I would share what I found: A clinical study was conducted in 2006, which showed this product was extremely effective at killing germs and mold in humidifiers (Journal of Water and Health, vol 4.2, 2006). Also, it''s shown to be very safe and 100% natural (based on natural silver technology...the active ingredient in the cartridge is actually used in many drinking water filters found at the "big box" stores.) One point to mention: it doesn''t remove minerals. If you get stains in your humidifier from iron in your water you''ll need a demineralization product for that (or use filtered or distilled water). I use it and highly recommend it.

After paying well over a hundred dollars for a humidifier, I got so tired of the sloppy job of cleaning slime out of it that I was almost ready to throw the thing away. After replacing its $15.00 filters (every 3 months) that seem to do about nothing, it didn''t seem worth the cost and effort to keep it operating. The unit''s instructions advised me not to use any additives but just clean the thing about every filling and keep replacing those filters as directed. So, since I was going to throw the thing out anyway, I tried one of these cartridges.

It worked. It''s been about a month, and the slime is starting to come back, but that''s supposed to be the effective life of the cartridge. The humidifier survives. I still have to clean it, but the task is now infrequent and easier.

So, it does what it''s supposed to do; does it for as long as it''s supposed to do it; hasn''t harmed the over-priced humidifier; and is good for the environment as long as it keeps this humidifier out of a landfill.

Buy ProTec Humidifier Tank Cleaning Cartridge Now

The cartridge costs about $5 and last only 20 days before the filter and the cartridge starting reek. However, I found that Holmes Bacteriastat cost

about $7 and could last for a season and it also extended the life of the filter.

My suggestion is to buy the Bacteriastat.

At the end of the winter season when most of us use a humidifier, we must face the daunting task of cleaning the humidifier before storing it (until next winter).

If you have been conscientious about using a water anti-bacterial additive once a week, then the end of the season cleaning job will not be "too" bad. If not, well, this chore will be more demanding and time-consuming.

This is the first year I have used this product. It is a plastic cage that holds chemicals which promise to keep your humidifier clean. You simply put this thing in your humidifier water tank and the miracle happens. The manufacturer recommends replacing it every month or so. I bought two for our 4 month humidifier/winter season. That seems adequate.

This item looks like something we used to put in our dishwasher to keep the water from spotting... although I am sure the chemicals inside this thing are different.

Anyway, you want to know if it works and is it worth the price.

Yes it works. My humidifier IS cleaner than what it would be without it. Is it worth the price? That depends on the value you put on your time and how hard you are willing to work at the end of the humidifier season to the task of cleaning your humidifier before storing it. I think this "ProTec" product will make the job of cleaning your humidifier very fast and easy. Is that worth $10? That is up to you. What makes this a good investment is knowing your humidifier is being KEPT clean during the months you are using it.

Would I buy this "ProTec PC cleaning cartridge" next year? Yes, I would.

Granite Gold GG0039 Shower Cleaner 24 Fl. Oz.This cleaner worked really well. I also love that it''s mult-purpose so I can use it all over my bathroom and not just for tiles. The only exception is stainless steel, don''t use it on your stainless steel hardware as it leaves streaks

We were having a hard time finding natural stone-friendly cleaner for our countertops (granite) and shower (slate). This product meets our needs. It seems to clean the shower reasonably well with only a few spots of soap scum remaining. It leaves the counters looking sparkly and smelling nice. The directions for use are easy (a big plus!), but the price tag is hefty (the only real negative). I''ll be buying this again.

In fact, the fixtures after scrubbing and cleaning with this several times look new again. Winix WAC5500 True HEPA Air Cleaner Save 17% Off

Winix WAC5500 True HEPA Air Cleaner with PlasmaWave TechnologyI purchased this today at Fry''s Electronics for $199, but really wanted a 5300 model, which they were out of as it is being discontinued. Later I found 5300 model could be purchased at Walgreens for $149. The only difference between the two as far as I can see is that there is a washable filter in the 5500, which might save me some money in the long run. My home showed "green" but I put it on the top speed to clear out the air anyway. It is loud at that speed, but very quiet at first 2 speeds. Later I will like the auto mode which switches to whatever the sensor thinks the fan should be on according to air quality. It is nice looking. I can''t say much now but it seems a little overpriced to me. I did not buy the extended warranty and hope nothing goes wrong as it only has a 1 year warranty. You still must replace the carbon filters every 3 months. Besides the one in the unit they give you 3 more carbon filters so this should last a year but maybe more if I vacuum it. The other washable filter should be washed every 6 months and can be washed 6 times and then must be replaced.

UPDATE: 6/6/11 I really like the Winix 5500, so much that I purchased a Winix 5300 from Walgreens and in the future will get the washable filter that Winix 5500 uses and put it in the 5300.

Both machines are quiet, clears the air, are sensitive to air quality. My rooms appear to be so much fresher and I''m happy with my purchases.

Length:: 3:45 Mins

I have four of the round Honeywell air purifiers in large 50250 to the 50150 (with the vibration problem) and was needing something for the bedroom as the huge air movers were just too loud even on low. Many like the low Honeywell settings as a white noise generator and in that case they are the thing. You won''t find one quieter than the Winix. I have had many different brands and this one is the quietest. One thing you must understand is that when large amounts of air is forced through anything wind noise is produced. That is why the Honeywell purifiers are so loud because they move huge amounts of air quickly.

The Winix units are designed for dust and pollen hence the heppa. The automatic air sensor only senses molecule changes in the air quality (smells) and not pollen and dust on the auto mode. I keep mine at level 2 all the time and hardly notice it. First level is basically silent, but not sure it moves enough air.

It takes up less room being square and looks more modern. On the bad side it''s a freakin light show with all it''s settings. I had to put some tape over them to sleep with unit on second speed. On auto it has a sleep mode which tones things down. I can''t help but think that if you kept this on automatic you would be disappointed in your air results.

As for the plasma thing, I''m not sure mine works at all no sound difference or air change. Will this make the air better than the honeywells; no but it works well according to what speed you set it on and can approach their effectiveness on turbo but who wants to listen to that. Unit also does well to suck animal hair out of the air. Have a cat that walks into the room and you would think he exploded, takes care of all that.

UPDATE 1-2-2013 added a video so you can hear winix 5500, p150 and honeywell 50250 side by side and added a star. Doing its job well now.

Had the Winix 5300 on ordered from Amazon for $149 (cancelled) but instead Bought the winix 5500 unit from my Local Frys store for $149 (on Sale)

Pros:

1. auto feature, will turn on higher settings when it detects more dust, or after cooking or other chemicals in air

2. will cycle air up to 350 sq foot room pretty fast

3. Works, when I wake up in the morning, nose cleaner than when i didn''t have winix 5500

4. can turn off plasmawave from remote so at night it''s a lot quitter when sleeping

5. since getting unit, haven''t woken up with a headache, and my stuffy nose only once so a major improvement

6. eliminate odors cooking, perfumes, etc

Cons :

1. on remote, doesn''t have auto feature, will have to setup auto from the unit itself

2. Plasmawave makes some cracking noise, not loud but noticeable when sleeping

Other Comments :

it''s a powerful unit/fan so when set on Max, it will make room cold not good for weathertime LOL but

it does clean up the air of dust and other stuff.

Thinking of getting another one for my computer room so I don''t have to carry my only one back and forth between rooms

added the extra 1 for 5 stars since this unit is great!

I did not buy this from Amazon because they were charging $199 and here in Texas Amazon has to charge 6.25% sales tax. I bought this one on Ebay for $185 free shipping.

WAC5300 $159 vs WAC5500 $199. I have 2 WAC5300''s and 1 WAC5500.

WAC5500

1) This model does come with a remote. The remote is very useful turning it on and changing fan speeds. It is the only way to turn off the plasma wave.

2) Washable Hepa filter. I have serious doubts that you can effectively wash a Hepa filter. There are no instructions for cleaning it either.

3) External color

4) On fan speed #2 this unit (5500) is quieter

I have had this air purifier for 2 months now. It works great for us. I use it mostly on the 2nd lowest speed #2. The air in the bedroom where I use this one is always very fresh now. This model is a little quieter than the 5300. Both my 5300''s you can hear the motor making a faint whining sound on speed #2 only. The 5500 does not make this sound making it best for the bedroom.

I bought this primarily for:

1) cleaning the air of out-gassing from plastics/synthetics, paint, particle board, carpet etc.

2) No one in the family has any allergies, but I was interested in lowering the pollen, mold spores and dust especially in spring and summer when we all get runny noses from time to time.

3) I have a 5yr old son and want to keep the indoor air as clean as possible for his health.

IT WORKS FOR DETECTING AND CLEANING PLASTIC/SYNTHETICS OUT-GASSING:

I bought a memory foam topper to soften up a hard mattress and it feels great. However there were many complaints about chemical smell and that it needs a few days to air out before using. When I received it, I noticed a minor smell but used it that night since I am not sensitive to the odor. (2.5" Lucid by LinenSpa Gel Infused Ventilated Memory Foam Mattress Topper with Removable Bamboo Cover, QUEEN)

****This product detected the new mattress odor the 1st night and and while on auto kicked into #3 fan speed for about 45min. The air quality meter was at 4 bars of 5 and gradually declined to "good air quality". This continued for several days even though I couldn''t smell it anymore.

**** I smoke outside (never inside) and both models occasionally detect the small amount of smoke left in my lungs when I come in the house. This truly surprised me.

For LIGHT SLEEPERS like me:

For use in the bedroom I use a timer to shut the unit off between 4am and 5am when I am most likely to wake up from fan noise. The unit is very quiet at speed 1). Speed 2) is also quiet but can wake me up at around 5am. The timer I use is Belkin Conserve Energy Saving Outlet. It can be set for 30 min, 3 hours and 6 hours. So, I set it for 6 hours and turn it on at 10pm. It shuts off the air cleaner at 4am. Perfect for me.

Power consumption by fan speed:

Off 1.3W

Auto) 5W

1) 5W

2) 15W

3) 38W

4) Turbo 77W

Fan noise:

1) Very difficult to hear in a very quiet room at night.

2) Minor white noise, fine for daytime use but may be too noisy for light sleepers.

3) Sound kicks up a few notches, fine for brief periods but too much for all day use.

4 Turbo loud

Plasma Wave noise:

None. I can only hear something when the fan is on #1 low and I listen at the air outlet vent.

My modifications:

Surprisingly these all fit

1) I added a second charcoal filter to increase the effectiveness of cleaning odor and synthetics out-gassing. Carbon filters are VERY IMPORTANT to cleanse the air of very small pollutants. Pollutants too small for the HEPA filter to catch. Change the carbon more often than 3 months. You can buy cut to fit ACTIVATED CARBON filters here on Amazon for 7-10$ for 2.

2) I bought a washable pre-filter to keep dust from blocking the charcoal''s cleaning and extend the life of the Hepa filter. This prefilter is a little narrow on the width by 1/4" but works well Duck Brand 1285234 24-Inch by 15-Inch by 1/4-Inch Foam Air Conditioner Filter

Charcoal filter vs Activated carbon:

They have similar cleaning abilities but Activated Carbon is many times more effective than charcoal or carbon. For those that want to know, here is why: Activated carbon is processed carbon or charcoal. It is processed with steam to create millions microscopic holes and channels that trap the sub micron particles that pollute your air and that can''t be cleaned by the hepa filter. Activated carbon is used commercially to purify air and drinking water. I will be replacing the charcoal filter with Activated carbon filter. Cut-to-fit Carbon for Air Purifiers

Air quality sensor:

I was skeptical about the air quality sensor but it has detected some cooking odors and plastic out-gassing so far.

My only concern is how long will it work and I seriously doubt it will detect everything. Most sensors need some maintenance (more than the vacuuming recommended in the manual). ****But maybe it''s not important in the long run as you become confident the air cleaner works and you change the carbon filters at the recommended 3 months or sooner.

A little about me: I am a practicing Electronic Engineer with over 20 yrs experience analyzing electronic components and engineering modifications to improve performance or fix defects.

The price performance of this product is very good. I rate it 5 stars.

Thank you to all the reviewers of this product and other air purifiers sold on Amazon. You have helped me make a good choice in the $200 price range.

Want Winix WAC5500 True HEPA Air Cleaner Discount?

I purchased this unit in the hopes of helping my chronic sinusitis. As that will usually take a few months for me to finally realize whether or not it''s working, I can at least give some feedback on the unit itself (have only had the unit for a couple weeks now).

I used to own a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze and I absolutely loved it! But it broke and they went out of business. :( Those units work great and are a breeze to clean (just wipe the metal bars and you''re done!). Sadly, this unit is not the same (hence the four stars instead of five).

First off, I love the AUTO feature on this unit. It will automatically adjust the level (four speed levels 1, 2, 3, & TURBO) based on how dirty the air is (or how dirty that sensor in front is). It''s almost always on LOW for me as I have this 270 sq ft. room for just me and I''m super anal about keeping my place clean and dust free (this unit is certified to clean at least 80% of a 350 sq ft. room). Although, randomly at times, it will just go on full blast and I can even see the AIR QUALITY bar on front fully lit (yellow, green, and orange/red). Very odd. There''s a fan/vent on top of the unit and it blows so hard my ceiling fan even starts to spin. Otherwise, on low, it''s essentially noiseless (but you can definitely feel air coming out of that vent).

The "PlasmaWave" feature, as most have stated, when on, has this slight electric crackling noise that''s pretty annoying (unless the unit is on any other level but 1 or I''m watching TV or other loud noises that drown it out). So I just turned it off until I sleep.

This version has a remote and a washable filter so I''d definitely opt for this version (over the 5300, which, I believe, is now discontinued). It also comes with 3 carbon filters which you change every 6 months. The "TRUE HEPA" filter needs to be washed every 3 months (or is it the other way around?). Either way, with this purchase, you''re good to go for at least a year. And the carbon filter is not necessary so you could just use the HEPA filter for a few years.

I''d like to think that the air is cleaner but it may just be a placebo effect. Plus, I''m on new medication so now it''s hard to see what is causing my improvement. All I know is that, when I clean this filter, I''m going to see just how dirty it is. And now I''m considering getting another unit for my bedroom. :)

As far as the plastic-like smell some people have claimed on the 5300 model, I can''t smell so I have no issue with that. :P

Oh, and I paid $189.99 for this unit here on Amazon.com, with free shipping and no tax.

Tap Water Filter Save 44% Off

Tap Water FilterConceptually this is a good method of transforming hard water into "soft" water via an ion exchange resin located inside the column. Unfortunately, hard water (which exists where water is pulled from the ground, typically) reduces the usability to about 10 gallons of water. Further, the columns are difficult to swap out without producing periodic leaks, they are awkward to store when not in use and they cannot be regenerated at home necessitating the purchase of new columns very frequently.

It does not provide value for the cost.

So I have off the scale, hard municipal water... and this filter actually does a pretty good job on it. It produces water completely free of contaminates, chlorine, etc (using api test kit ofc), and does so at 10 gph with no runoff more efficient than most home RO machines, especially at the price. It''s also extremely simple to hook up and use.

The problem is, I too only got an estimated 30-40 gallons out of the canister, which is well short of the advertised average of 50-150 gallons.

My tank is an open design 55 gallon, and I lose close to 5 gallons a week to evaporation. So I did some math.

40 gallons produced (1 canister) / 5 gallons per week = roughly 8 weeks of use, for $22 plus shipping

40 gallons x .50 cents at the RO machine down the street = $20 (minus hauling all that water up 2 flights op stairs every other week)

After a close race, the machine loses by a narrow margin. But only because the canisters cost too much. If they were to drop the price a bit, I might pick some up for the convenience alone. As for now, I''ll pretend to be content lugging water cans around all the time. Guess it''s good exercise.

I got 10 years out of my old DI filter, running off water for many salt tanks in a way that didn''t waste water the way my old RO unit did. But eventually, the fitting cracked, and I am just thrilled they are still being manufactured. Great, efficient, yes cartridges are pricey but on a decent water supply they last a while, and takes little storage space.

I''ve been using this filter for almost 6 years and it works very well. I use it to filter water for my saltwater reef tank. The cartridges last me roughly 75-100 gallons and our water is fairly hard here. I work for the local water authority and I like that I am able to conserve water using this over your typical wasteful rodi. I did make an adapter to hook it up to the water hose bib and add an extra ten feet of hose too it, but that''s soley for my convince.

Keurig® Platinum B70 Gourmet Single Cup Coffee & Tea Brewing System

Keurig® Platinum B70 Gourmet Single Cup Coffee & Tea Brewing System Added Value: 60 K-Cups & My K-Cup Reusable FilterTook awhile to convince my husband this was a good thing. Now he''s totally sold and our poor little "regular" coffee maker is feeling neglected. Whatever Keurig you choose, be sure to get the My K-Cup so you can use any type of coffee you wish. This is the thing that sold us on the unit. The K-cups are fairly expensive themselves, but the fact that I can still buy my own gourmet, locally roasted coffee and grind perfectly to use in my Keurig has me tickled pink.

We purchased one which came with an assortment of 60 K-cups as well as the My K-cup unit. Really enjoying trying the different flavors that came with the unit. When using the My K-cup, it took a few tries to get the right grind, but once you find that with your grinder, you''re all set. I saw several comments by others that the coffee was very weak, and found the following Amazon reviewer''s suggestions very helpful: Perhaps not the greatest solution long term, but until Keurig can fix the design flaw of the My K-cup, it''ll do.

I love the following features:

Auto on and off: the unit is ready when I stumble out of bed and feel my way to the kitchen. I have it set to turn off in an hour.

Multiple cup sizes

The unit is rather large and takes up some space, but it''s totally worth it. We are keeping our "regular" coffee pot for occasions when we just want to make a pot of coffee, but we are really loving our Keurig!

I just got this machine & my Coffee tasted burnt. My water temp was at the higest setting 192. I thought that temp my be too high,so I set it to lowest setting of 187 & my coffee is perfect & still hot enough for plenty of half & half. The burnt taste is gone. This setting may differ in all machines,so if your getting a burnt taste with your machine, try different temp settings. You just got to find your "Sweet spot" :)

This is PERFECT if you are an everyday or even casual coffee drinker. I love to make cold coffee with it. I got a huge assortment of the keurig cups and have been using them a few times a week. Every flavor I have tried so far has been good. The coffee maker itself works flawlessly. My only complaint is that it''s sort of hit or miss on how good the coffee will taste when you go to the larger cup sizes. I like to brew the normal size first then re-brew and see if it still holds flavor.

Also, I don''t like how expensive the cups are. While, I have a lot of cups right now, I have a feeling if I used this more frequently I''d be spending way more money. I do have the my k-cup so I will probably end up using that.

I rated this 5 stars because the coffee maker itself is great. Works great, I love how I can fill it up with a lot of water and make a few cups any time I want. Very easy to use. It came with 60 k-cups and while they aren''t the more desired flavors (to me), they are still good to get a feel for the coffee maker with.

This is a great machine but only when it''s working properly. I''ve had to return two units to the store I bought them from (luckily they (starts with "C" and ends with "ostco") have a GREAT return policy). The two units eventually stopped working right and couldn''t pump out the water or the right amount of water... and yes, I did try descaling them. The last one that I just returned today was descaled TWICE to try to get it back into working order, and each time I went much further than the descaling instructions called for... not only that, I always used filtered water to begin with.

Even the new one I replaced it with seems like it is not working perfectly as it still seems to struggle to get the water out or get the right amount of water out. We''ll see... I''ll give it 6-9 months of life before I probably have to return it too.

So I only feel comfortable giving this unit 2 stars because of the reliability problems I''ve had with them.

It''s interesting to note too, that although it''s the same model ("B70"), they''ve made some "improvements" in the versions I''ve had... like supporting an additional cup size (added when I returned my 1st unit) and now a bigger water reservoir but they still call it the "B70". I''m not sure if I like the bigger reservoir as it seems a bit large, taking up more space, but I do like its new lid design where the front of the lid flips open so you can easily add water and then flip it back closed. Now if only they could improve the reliability.

UPDATE 2013-03-14: The unit I''ve been using for the past few months is still WORKING! At this point, I''d normally have run into problems and had to return it, but perhaps they finally fixed this issue. The unit has basically been trouble-free and I have not experienced "short cups".

Unfortunately, despite the fact that I love having a single serve coffee maker, my second Keurig B70 just died. Dead. Kaput! It is just over a year old. No warranty. I miss it, and don''t know what to do. It''s an expensive machine to just die after a year. So I can''t give it a good review

I have used these for years. I live in the northeast where most people have forced hot air heat. Without humidification you will always feel like overdone toast. This is an easy way to get factory replacement wicks without tramping all over town trying to find them. Brand x is a bad idea. These are best.
