My husband, albiet not from here, picked up this little gem after calling him and relaying that our son dumped the entire contents of a chocolate syrup bottle on his bedroom carpet. Home he came with this bissell. Only one they had at the store.

Assembly in two seconds, I kid you not. Didn''t even need to look at the instructions. put in the cleaning solution, filled reservoir with water, set it down, plugged it in. Now, mind you, it took me about ten minutes, with a few minutes between each go, this syrup was well and good in the carpet, but I am deeply impressed. Throughly impressed. It''s very light, even filled, it''s compact, fits real nicely into our cleaning closet, and super easy to use. For the price we paid, it''s paid for itself halfway with just the one room, compared to getting our carpets steam cleaned every few months. I would happily buy again.

Let''s hope the Little Green is a precursor to greater models. I have owned a larger model Bissell for nearly 2 decades and am fully aware of its reputation for getting things clean. I decided I wanted a smaller, more portable model for my car, the stairs, furniture, and small stains due to people and pets. This way I would only have to lug out the larger model for the large jobs like the carpeting, which is truly a once in a blue moon event. With a little vigorous scrubbing and chemical solutions, virtually any stain is a thing of the past, however I have come to realize certain design characteristics could be better.

When I clean the stairs, I can''t keep the unit more or less than two stairs away at all times. A step closer and it''s too close to my cleaning area. A step down and the hose just won''t allow me to reach. If only the hose could be a little longer it would help immensely. I also find the base of the unit hovers over the edge by a couple inches, which doesn''t challenge its center of gravity, but a single unfortunate move could cause it to topple so it''s good to pay attention to everything around you. Considering the shortness of the hose, it would''ve been nice if it could pivot or have free-range flexibility where it connects to the unit.

The sprayer doesn''t just spray the immediate area being cleaned; it fans out by several inches to either side. When I try to clean a small area, the last thing I want is to have excess moisture to eventually remove. Let''s face it all material retains some moisture even after vacuuming with "drying strokes." This increases the drying time and consumes more solution than needed which is wasteful.

The vessel for mixing the solution with water is clearly marked, however it''s capacity is fairly small so after about 10 minutes of solid use, such as the stairs or furniture, I need to go mix some more. That in itself is not a problem so much as it''s a bit of a drag to interrupt one''s flow of progress to go mix more cleaning solution. I have yet to be challenged with emptying the collection vessel before my task is complete so I would say it is a fair size, yet I am astonished that the liquid I collect is far less proportionate to the liquid spent, i.e. for every tub of cleaning solution used, I only retrieve about a quarter, if that much. That means a lot of moisture is still soaked into what I''ve cleaned and The drying time is considerable (5-8 hours for a mattress), while less absorbent things such as the stairs only need and hour or two at best. One can cut down on how much cleaning solution is used by spending a little time pre-treating the designated area once or twice before cleaning.

Another design flaw that caught my attention is the lack of a handle. this may sound silly to some: it''s a big tube, grab it anywhere. However I am 34 and have had arthritis for over a decade already. After about 10-15 minutes of use, my hands hurt because I can''t get a proper grip. I''ve tried holding it various ways to no avail. I wish it was easier to grab. I am glad most of my cleaning tasks are done in that amount of time or I would be ready to call it quits.

On the whole, this unit is great. It is easy to use and easy to clean. It is also convenient to stow away almost anywhere. I feel the power cord is an appreciable length. I also feel most people would love it. Bissell makes reliable products that last and last, however I feel the folks at Bissell''s research and development department could have spent a little more time developing the design of the Little Green. Whomever tested the prototype couldn''t possibly have used it in a home environment, which is unfortunate because it leaves avid consumers, such as myself, to discover all the design flaws. After all, this unit is supposed to make life''s little cleanup tasks considerably easier. Would I recommend it? Most likely, I would.

This machine is designed to guzzle bottles of Bissell Cleaner, but you can get around this!

Turn the machine OFF. Raise it above the spot you want to clean, either holding it or sitting it on a chair or higher step.

Lower the nozzle right over your spot, press the spray button, and gravity will drip the liquid as small as a dime to quarter size spot. Let it soak a few minutes, turn the machine back on and vacuum the liquid up.

Do saturate the spot well, then with the machine on press down without scrubbing too much and vacuum up as much of the liquid up as you can. Repeating, if necessary, will continue to lighten the stain. Vacuum it as dry as possible each time to pull out the stain.

There is also no reason you have to use the machine to hold and dispense your cleaning mix. You could use a bottle that squirts a narrow stream of liquid if you want to hit only small spots. After you''ve let it set a few minutes then use the machine to vacuum up the liquid.

I just invested in new carpet and needed a convenient compact cleaner. As the father of two active boys and the owner of two young (large) dogs & one fussy cat, I am concerned about muddy foot/paw prints, food spills and those much more critical "accidents" on the new carpet.

With six cats in the house, there''s sometimes a little problem of pet odor, whether from accidents, upchucks, or one of the cats deciding that a folded towel on the couch is a great litter box substitute. I have been doing some research on Ionized and Alkaline water for a few weeks and had finally decided to buy one. I had also decided on finding a water ionizer that would produce at least negative 650 ORP, the lower the ORP the more benefits out of the water you get I found. They answered all of my questions and told me about their US based company and their US based warranty. Everything I wanted to hear and more. After a few days I got my unit and easily installed it. The unit works great and tastes even better. I even tried out my ORP meter I bought and am consistently getting negative 746 to 766. I am definitely telling all my friends about this unit.

If you are looking for a machine that can produce very high and very low PH levels, then this machine is not for you. It has 7 plates, but the lowest acidic level has never got down to 5. Water in my area has high alkaline level (ph=8) so the machine has no problem to make alkaline water to ph-10.

About the product: I got it from Amazon and it came without hose clips. The hoses were larger than the pipes so I could not use them without the clips. I had to spend extra for hoses at Lowes. It wasn''t a big of a deal but I hate to have to spend extra and had to take a trip to Lowes. Saying that, out of the box, it''s not working right away.

Other than that, the machine works great for my needs, its taste is great.

What''s bad? I bought it in November for $1,300 and it is $895 in December.

I am updating this:

The unit keeps giving me high PH level (about 9.5 10 ph). However, on the acid side, the lowest I can get is 6.99. It was advertised to give PH range from 4.5 11. I would disagree with that ads. It has "setup" function, but I cannot get in there whatsoever. Normally, an ionized machine will give users option to adjust their PH level, this one doesn''t. The cleaninng function is only good if PH level is lower, at 6.99, I do not think it can handle bacteria well. Anyway, I would not recommend this unit for my friends. You must find a machine that allows customizing your PH.

My body is very acidic so I prefer to drink alkaline water to compensate for that. I get in debates with my friends about it, and their arguments about acid-base homeostasis does make sense. Ok, If you are like me looking, reading and scratching your head not knowing what unit to purchase I took a chance on this unit, I got it in the mail and set it up right away so I could try it. I had also read from another review that one person on amazon called them on the question of lead in the unit, After reading this review I also called and spoke with there Q&A person. He told me absolutely not, there is no lead in this unit and we have the test to prove it. He was aggravated so to me that was a good sign. Because I told him I was going to return this unit if there was any danger of lead.

My older brother purchased the KANGEN branded unit for over 4 grand, is it better then this unit? I live in Moorhead Mn and our water has a 7 ph right out of the tap. I tested this unit in every mode and it does what it said it should do, I was getting a PH of over 10.5 That''s still not good enough for me, so I purchased an ORP meter because I wanted to see for myself what this unit will do. My testing indicated that I was getting an ORP of 700. I know ORP meters can be a pain to work with but I have to believe what I seen. I know other people are getting around the same so I guess it is what it is.

Bottom line. This is a great product and being a kidney transplant survivor I am looking for every way to take care of my self and detoxify my body. The anti rejection medication that I am on for life cuts your immune system in half and with that you get cancers and other life threading issues along with the chalange of everyday life and I belive this machine is just as good as the more expensive units on the market. So why pay more, as the advertisement states, if you don''t like it, send it back, what do you have to loose other then another 2 grand on the other brands.

This is NOT a "cool mist" humidifier. When one thinks of a cool mist humidifier, you assume that it makes a cooled flow of steam from a nozzle, like you see in the department store floor models. That is not what this model does at all, there is no "mist". This model operates on the same principle as a "swamp cooler" or "evaporative cooler" that some of you may be familiar with, or even be using to cool your homes with in the summer. Basically, the water from the tank fills a tray at the bottom of the unit. The filter pads, which are actually wicks, rest in the tray and soak up the water. The fan pulls the air through the filter/wick from which the water will then evaporate, thus humidifying the air which passes through the unit. Simplified: A fan sucks air through a wet pad. So, no "cool mist", but it does increase the humidity of the air.

The drawback of using this method is that the unit becomes less effective the more humid the room gets, unlike a steam-type humidifier which will keep putting out the same amount of moisture until shut off. I guess one could look at it one way and say that the unit will not over-humidify a room, but it also means that if one desires a high humidity level, that level will be very difficult to reach.

So, the good things about the unit:

The unit has a small footprint, which is nice. It also has a decently sized tank which lasts a while for us. Like the previous reviewer, we also live in the Northeast, and I can tell you that right now in the Winter, it is VERY dry here. 25% humidity or so. We got this unit to improve conditions for both of us because we were waking up with dry throats, and to ease conditions for my wife who has intermittent asthma. The unit has 6 settings: Low/Medium/High and humidistat controlled Low/Medium/High. The humidistat will allow you to set the unit to turn off/on just like a thermostat for your heater when a desired humidity is reached. Under humidistat control using the low setting, a tank of water will last about a day and a half, which is pretty good for us. Some folks have complained about the fan noise on this model and it''s silver sister model, but it doesn''t bother us at all on low. I guess if you''re used to a dead quiet room, it might be an issue, but we prefer a very small amount of white noise in the background. The unit comes with 2 extra filter pairs, which is nice (1 pair required in the unit).

The not so great things about the unit:

It must be on a completely level surface, or the water in the tray can spill. It is NOT a cool mist humidifier, as the name indicates. It has a little meter on the top that tells you when the filter must be cleaned. The indicator must be completely arbitrary or useless, I haven''t figured it out yet. Sometimes it says the filter must be cleaned as soon as the unit is turned on and then indicates "good" after 5 minutes. Sometimes with a completely new filter and no water, it says they need to be cleaned. We just clean the filters once a week and call it good. The humidistat has issues with reading/indicating the correct humidity I''ve read in other reviews, ours seems to be OK. Just something to keep in mind. The nice large tank has no handle to hold while filling, and because of the length of the tank you''ll need to fill it in your bathtub most likely. Because of the lack of a handle, be careful not to drop the tank as it is prone to cracking (as other reviewers have found out).

Overall:

We like the unit for the price. It does humidify the room, but not as well as a true "mist" or steam type of humidifier. The filters are a bit of a pain, but the high end humidifiers all have more expensive filter systems, so this one is cheap in comparison. The faulty filter meter is a negative, and the fact that the name is very misleading is a huge negative (-1 star for that alone). Don''t get me wrong, we''d probably get this unit again, we just feel that the misleading product title (in our opinion) is bad for consumers; and there should be some design changes, such as a handle on the tank for filling. So feel free to buy the unit, just realize what your are really getting!

We just purchased this item in the past week, so this is more a note of first impressions than a full in depth review.

A couple of things I like about it are the small footprint & easy access to the filters for future replacement.

Although aesthetically pleasing, the units poorly designed reservoir is a royal PIA to fill.

The opening to fill the tank is on the bottom and is sealed with a cap that you can easily turn to open. The problem is that the top of the tank comes to such a sharp angle that you can not rest the tank upside down and walk away while it fills because it will certainly topple over. In fact even just holding on its end while filling can be a challenge in a smooth sink who''s bottom is slanted towards the drain.

This might not be too annoying an issue if you have a great water supply and adequate pressure to fill the tank very quickly. But because the water in our area is so heavily chlorinated we use one of those filters that threads onto the end of your faucet; which greatly reduces the chlorine, but has a fairly weak amount of pressure, so I am standing there for awhile holding the tank with both hands & waiting for it to slowly fill. One thing I have done to speed up the process is to have a couple of bottles already filled that I can pour into the tank. This still is a PIA though because you either have to have one person hold the tank while the other pours or you have to hold & tuck the tank kind of under your arm while pour with the other hand.

The product description states:

"The unit produces a cool mist that is dispersed by a powerful, yet quiet fan."

Powerful? yes. Quiet, uh-uh; even on its lowest setting this thing makes a good amount of noise. We have it in our bedroom and, although I usually am so tired I fall asleep quickly, if I wake up during the night that fan is all I hear.

The product description further states:

"It will run up to 36 hours on a full tank of water."

Hmmm.. maybe if we lived in a more humid environment...like the amazon rain forest. In our case, in the North East US, with the fan on low, the tank will last all night and some hours after that but it will be dry before noon.

On the plus side it does do what we want which is add moisture to the room to relieve static electricity and dried sinuses.

we have not played around with the control settings more than just to turn it on auto. The unit is supposed to tell you what percentage of moisture you have in the room, however even running all night the gauge does not really change to anything higher than 27, so I don''t really have much faith in it.

There is also a gauge mounted on top of the unit which is supposed to give you an indication as to the remaining life of the filter(s)we have not had it long enough yet to tell how reliable that is though.

I hope at some point in time AMAZON lets us more fine tune our star rating, I really would give this 2 1/2 out of 5. I do not hate the unit; after all it does what we want, but the design of the reservoir leaves a great deal to be desired

Perhaps I will at a future date post an update, but for now I just wanted to make sure that potential buyers have a better idea what they are considering buying.

I agree with the previous two. The low fan speed setting is too noisy for a bedroom.

The tank is indeed tricky to hold steady while filling in the kitchen sink. As a matter of fact it just slipped out of my hands after almost full (the bottom is slanted and slippery to hold steady resting in the sink) and cracked! Now I have to get a replacement tank! It is very pleasing esthetically and has a small footprint to hide behind funiture. I like the 3 fan speeds and automatic humidity settings. It will shut off when it reaches the set value and turn back on like a thermostat works for your heat. You can''t expect it to increase the humidity of a whole house so the area or volume of space must be taken into account when determining if it alone will raise the humidity enough.

A full 1.3 gal tank will last less than 24 hrs on low speed.

I bought this Bionaire from Costco last year. I use it to humidify the first floor of my 2700 square foot home. Although that may be alot to ask of a single unit to handle, the unit managed to bring up the humidity level enough for my needs. It has a huge water tank that requires a refill about twice a day, so it''s evident how much water it is putting into the air. It is programmable to the humidity level you want, and has 3 fan speeds in case you want to watch TV so you can turn it down. The filters lasted a full winter season of constant use. The filter gage is accurate enough, but may take a few tanks of water for it to accurately sense the life left in the filters.

I was online looking to buy another when I saw these bad reviews, so I thought I would set the record straight from my experience. I plan to buy another for my 2nd floor.

This humidifier words in my big room only if the heater is turned off, an the windows are completly shut... It''s winter, and I won''t be without the heater on... so what is the point?

My advise is, buy another one.

The only plus is that tells you how humid the room is, and turns off by itself if it has reached the level you want... but if it will reach that level, it''s another story.

The indicator to change/clean the filter varies every day... so it''s not reliable. One day it''s telling me to clean, and in the next is clean, when I haven''t done a thing... crazy hum?

I don''t have the box anymore... I will see anyways if home depot takes it back without the box.

I am a huge fan of Simple Green, and use it for everything. I thought the Simple Green stainless steel cleaner would be just as good, but I was disappointed.

It''s not a bad cleaner, it''s just that it''s really no better than any others that are out there. It requires a lot of elbow grease, and doesn''t remove all the stains. I actually find it easier to use another (nastier) regular cleaner to clean it first, and then use this product more as a polish.

The thing is, as a polish, it''s not perfect, either. It''s very hard to buff to an even shine.

The main positive about this product is that it''s completely non-toxic. You can work with it without any type of ventilation. Safe around kids, pets, etc.

When I decided to put in stainless counter tops in my kitchen I was warned about up keep. Keeping it spotless and streak free was a job. I used non toxic vinegar after cleaning with soap and water to polish the surface. it worked somewhat but requires a lot of elbow grease. Then I found Simple Green Stainless cleaner and polish. I bought this item not because I wanted to save water, but because my house has pretty low pressure to begin with and I prefer to have high-pressure showers. It did the trick! It is very powerful and both my wife & I think it is a huge improvement over our previous showerhead. I do have to admit that it is a little odd though, because as you are getting a shower, your head thinks you are getting drenched, but the amount of water that is hitting you is actually pretty low. For instance, it takes longer to get a washcloth wet, even though it feels like it shouldn''t. I know I''m not making much sense, but it''s a difficult phenomenon to describe! All in all, this is much better than what I thought it was going to be and a wise purchase for us. I have only found three popular low GPM showerheads the Delta Water Amplifying, The Oxygenics, and the WaterPik EcoFlow. I have not tried the Ecoflow yet so I can only discuss the Delta vs the Oxygenics. Purchased this Oxygenics showerhead along with a Delta Water Amplifying low GPM showerhead. This showerhead is not bad but has some drawbacks. Comparing this to the Delta showerhead I would have to say overall I liked the Oxygenics a bit better. While the Delta head is much quieter than the Oxygenics (since the oxygenics uses air to create the feeling of pressure spray), the Oxygenics "seems" to produce more water and can rinse off quicker. The Delta has a buzzing sound to it, which while subtle, somewhat bugs me the Oxygenics is very loud (so much so the wife was worried about damaging her hearing). While both the Oxygenics and the Delta water dropets sting a bit, the Delta droplets seem to sting a bit more (not sure why) but the Oxygenics seems to have a stronger stream. The Delta showerhead seems to take longer to rinse off soap and shampoo thereby eliminating any low GPM savings with longer showers. The Delta is a bit more "drippy" water while on the body while the Oxygenics is more "misty". My wife complained about both being far too "misty" further away from the showerhead (shorer than me) and unsatisfying (even with the water savings) harder to rinse and colder since water cools by the time ti gets there. The Delta spray seems to be very wide near the bottom so when warming up the shower, I need to close the shower door or I have a water puddle on my floor. No real massage effect with either showerhead (unless you consider prickly stingy water bits a massage more like getting sandblasted). So, all in all, not very satisfying and I will continue to look for better options. I have seen the larger (four hole) version of the Delta showerhead (which got good reviews) but not sure if the buzzing or "misty" factors would be worse with the larger unit. If you can overlook the noise (and are relatively close to the showerhead as to avoid the mist factor) then the Oxygenics will probably be great but if you have multiple people using the shower, then you might be out of luck here.

I love a shower head that puts out a strong spray and have tried several different types, but have found none I like better than these. We have them in our home (where we have good water pressure and city water) and in our lake cottage (where we have weak water pressure and are on a well), and they work great in both situations. I even take one with me when we go to Florida and stay in a rented condo for a couple of months in the winter. Our son visited, and loved it so much that he now has one, and we have had other guests as well who have done the same thing. Great that this is a two pack. They suggest replacing every couple months. I just let one go through the heating season. I do not have hard water. When I check it, if it''s a little dirty, I place in flat pan with water and lime away and soak for about 15 minutes before rinsing. I then let dry for a day. It may make it another season after that. Now I don''t have to worry.

The Bunn A10 isn''t just any old coffee maker, in fact, it isn''t just any old Bunn. This Bunn is a professional model, which means, it is the same model you would find at a small IHOP, or Waffle House, or any other restaurant which has the need of a single hotplate coffee maker. The difference between this and MOST commercial models is that most can brew two pots (reg and decaf) at once, and have three hotplates. This one is more suited for home use, while retaining the commercial heavy usage capabilities.

This model isn''t some modernized sleek brewer with a million plastic parts built to last for 2 years. This is a metal plated bad boy with few working parts, and a mechanics sensibility in design. The metal spray head is replacable, and they have plastic ones for hard water. The heater unit has its own power switch in addition to the on/warmer/off switch.

Bunn''s brew fast by keeping a reservoir of water hot at all times, and the water you pour in today will be tomorrows hot coffee. The taste of the coffee is superb, but it takes more grinds to get it strong. The carafe you get with this unit is not the one pictured, which looks just like the commercial carafes, which was a bit of a disappointment at first. The carafe is the NCD decanter, which is more drum shaped and has the flip up lid. This is better for home use, as we found out later, since it is very easy to clean.

If you are looking for a coffee pot built like a tank, built to last, which makes great coffee quick, saving you precious morning minutes, I would say look no further. You have found your machine.

Detailed Commentary

I recently received delivery on my Bunn Model A-10 coffee brewer. This is the pourover model, not the automatic. I purchased it for my home kitchen.

Out of the box...

Weighing in at 14 pounds, this is no lightweight machine. The unit was delivered directly from Bunn and I found it to be packaged tight with nothing broken. When I placed it on the kitchen counter, all I could think was "this thing is all business". Yes, it is a categorized as a commercial unit, however, it is not industrial looking like the Bunn unit you would see at your local coffee shop. It is civilized and stylish. There are no color choices. Black and high polish steel with an almost chrome appearance, Bunn logo up front. There is a very visible warning label behind the decanter which reveals it''s commercial heritage, but it is easily removed if desired. Although the unit is only 6.75 inches wide, it is 13.5 inches deep. This takes up a good 2/3 of a standard countertop depth including room for the cord. It is a very serious piece of hardware and sure to be a topic of conversation when guests arrive.

Set Up...

As the instruction manual warns, you cannot plug the A10 in immediately and start brewing. The internal tank needs to be filled with water prior to powering. This water remains in the unit at all times. The manual calls for 2 full pitchers of water and remainder will run off from the sprayhead. Once plugged in, the vacation switch is powered on. This switch remains on unless you plan to be away for several days or more. Then the warmer switch is turned on which controls only the porcelain warming plate. There is no auto shut-off feature, so you need to shut it off manually. Within 10 minutes the water in the internal tank reaches the proper temperature for brewing which, according to the manual, is approx. 200 F. I have not verified that temperature...yet.

Time to Brew...

Ground coffee is placed in the brew funnel and slid into place. The brew funnel is sturdy plastic, one-piece design, but I believe a stainless steel funnel would have better complemented the overall construction of machine. There is no "start" button or switch. You had better have that decanter in place. Once the water is poured into the screened opening on top of unit, brewing starts immediately as there is already water at 200 F in the brewer. The new water poured into machine is in turn quickly heated in the internal tank. Measurements are somewhat confusing. The clear plastic water pitcher supplied with brewer has graduations measured in 12 ounce increments, total of 48 ounces. The increments on the glass decanter, however, are measured in 2 cup increments, total of 10 cups. I calculated each cup measure to be 5 ounces. Depending on the strength of coffee you prefer, it takes some experimenting to get it just right.

The hefty price tag paid was worth while. Very smooth, rich full bodied taste is achieved with no bitterness, just like my local coffee shop. I believe the secret lies in the five-jet stainless sprayhead which evenly saturates the grinds, proper water temperature and tried/tested design. No disappointments and highly recommended.

The Best Grout Brush Save 54% Off

I bought this and another model (The Grout Brush Head) just to make sure that I have one that works as I didn''t want to start and then find out that the brush doesn''t work as well as I would like. Both do a very good job but I think this model does the job a little bit better. It seems to have harder bristles. But I''m not knocking the Grout Brush Head. Both work fine. It''s nice to be able to go forwards and backwards instead of sideways as that sideways motion is awkward and you can''t get good pressure. So I would recommend either one of these products. Both swivel and both work on any handle with a screw. I am so happy that I bought this as I was starting to see some darkness in some grout lines and we have a large kitchen, entry, eating area that is all tiles. It would have cost me over $500 to have the grout cleaned and I am doing it for less than $30 plus a little exercise on my part.

So this review is basically like the Grout Brush Head review because both products meet my expectations.

My grout was filthy in my kitchen but I am handicapped so I couldn''t do much with getting down to scrub it. My knees and back can''t take the pain. This brush is fantastic! I used low splash gel bleach and scrubbed with this brush and my grout is clean again. Some jobs just need the right tool and this is it.

Update: I ordered another one for a sister in law with white kitchen tile and arthritis in her back. It was a gift. When it arrived it had been mangled in the mail and although functional, it had deep scratches and scrapes. It was not in a condition to be given as a gift. I contacted the seller through amazon and she promptly send me a brand new one with her apology. I can''t ask for better service than that.

Having had two electric tea kettles break within a month, I went shopping for a new one. Of the three brands I looked at in the department store, including this one, all were manufactured in China. However, I haven''t regretted my choice. It''s a bit slow coming to the boil when full, and the button knob on the lid is rather small, but aside from those niggles, this is a nice unit. It has a brushed steel finish and is a bit on the heavy side even when empty, but I don''t see that as a disadvantage as it can''t be easily knocked over and it boils up quietly.

The power is supplied to the solid round base on which the kettle sits, so there''s no cord attached to the kettle itself. The element is hidden in the base of the kettle, so there''s no fussing with de-scalers and the inside of the kettle is easy to clean. unlike previous reviewers, i''ve had no problem filling the kettle with water. the faucet clears the rim by more than an inch.

yes, the kettle is hot to the touch. but it''s stainless steel and filled with boiling water, so i didn''t expect it to behave otherwise.

the lid fits firmly. i see that as a smart safety measure rather than a defect.

i haven''t experienced any issues with hot steam so far. the placement of the handle is comfortable.

i have left standing water in it for several days at a time. so far, there''s been no leaking out the bottom or the sides, but i am staying on the alert for it.

finally, it''s really pretty. but that''s just a perk.

Three things.

1) The faucet is quite attractive. It does not look cheap. It would go well in any kitchen.

2) It is NOT designed to stay on. You must hold the lever the entire time. Not great for filling pots or pitchers.

3)The instructions are worthless. However, it''s very easy to install and does not drip. Here is a simple diagram that shows exactly how to do it:

This faucet works fine. The trim ring does not match the size of the chrome faucet and I had to trim down the rubber washer; this should have a larger washer or a gasket seal that matches. It should have a push-in style quick disconnect underneath; instead it has a compression connection. Note that the activation lever can be pulled up and locks the faucet on for filling up large containers; I think this is a standard feature on these things.

BUNN MC MyCafe Single Serve Pod Brewer

I recently purchased this brewer and I am still amazed at how quick and easy it is to use. It is small and sleek enough to keep on my kitchen counter, and it''s been a conversation piece! Everyone wants to see how it works and falls in love with it. It is very quiet, fast, and brews a really great cup of coffee. It''s amazing how this small and simple machine can extract so much flavour from the pods. Another aspect that I love is that it is almost instant hot water for tea, hot chocolate, or soup. The water comes out piping hot in minutes if the machine''s been idle about 30 seconds if it hasn''t been, and it saves me from having to rummage for the old kettle and wait for it to come to a boil.

I have heard that for some, pouring water in the brewer each time you want a cup took some getting used to, but this is another aspect I love regardless of whether I want a quick tea before work in a small mug, or a coffee or even soup in one of my huge mugs if I''m going to laze around and read, I don''t have to worry about my mug overfilling or filling only halfway. The amount of water you put in is pretty much the same amount that comes out (slightly less). There is enough room to fit a travel mug or a taller mug if need be the bottom drip tray comes right out.

It''s also very clean. There are no wet filters to touch, no wet coffee grounds, and the pods are compostable! You just pull out the pod drawer and can dump it right into your green bin. Voila! Ready for another cup!

I STRONGLY recommend this machine to anyone who likes new toys, hot beverages, and great quality. It really is such a simple yet amazing machine.

I purchased mine from Reunion Island (reunionislandcoffee.com) before it was available on Amazon, and they included about a dozen pods (including a couple of tea samples) from various companies.

I''ve only had this machine for 3 or 4 days now, but I wouldn''t trade it for anything. I''ve always hated throwing away pots of coffee from my Cuisinart (and the 10 other coffee pots I''ve tried) that were still half full because they tasted lackluster and were invariably bitter from staying on the burner too long.

This is perfect for one or two people. I can make 1 cup at a time, which is delivered at a temperature of 200 degrees, and I can choose from a huge assortment of pods and on-line companies (try The Coffee Artisan at thecoffeeartisan.com) while feeling at ease that I''m not adding to the landfills. Love that I can use a travel mug too.

It''s inexpensive to buy the pods, which if you only drink about two cups a day comes out to 39 cents a cup over the course of a year for the pods. If you drink more than that, your savings are even greater. When I consider I was spending $1.35 five days a week (using my own mug and paying the ''refill'' price at my local drive-thru) my savings are much more substantial.

It''s very easy to use and is quite attractive yet takes up less room than my other ''normal'' coffee maker and it''s very fast: the coffee is ready in 30 seconds. Since it''s dispensing hot water, you can also use it for tea, hot chocolate, soup, etc.

This is my third POD coffee maker (commercial BUNN MyCafe at my office, and My Invento). It is by far the best. Better in most ways than its $400 commercial cousin. Great coffee, easy to keep clean and use, fast. Takes up very little room on a counter. Fit and finish are very good. This looks and feels like a quality product. I think it makes very good tea too. I make 2-3 cups each morning and lots more when guests are over for dinner. Here''s some advice for best results:

1. Use good coffee PODs. This machine makes a cup that can distinguish between bad, good, and great coffee. This is the first POD maker that allows subtle differences between PODs to show through. Find a good on-line seller of coffee PODs and buy them. (I like Coffee Artisan but there are others).

2. Match the water amounts to the POD size. PODs come in different sizes. This machine can take the bigger, 12 gram PODs. I use 8 oz. of water for a 12 gram POD. This is less water than many of us would guess. I find using an 8 once measuring cup the easiest way to fill the My Cafe machine. If I use a smaller POD, there is one variety that I like which only comes in a 9 gram POD, then I use less water. The machine is fast so that second and third cup are ready in a flash. Do not use too much water unless you like weak coffee.

3 Always use the pulse button. The instructions recommend this for stronger coffee and for tea. Other forums have users always leave that feature on.

4. Use tea PODs for tea. Do not expect great results if you use regular tea bags instead of PODs that are shaped to work in a single serve machine.

5. Use TAP water. BUNN has released information that says the water displacement "reads" minerals in the water to determine how much water you put in and how much should come out. This means that there are issues if you use distilled or other super-pure water.

I love this coffee maker. I have bought one as a gift for my Father. I would buy it again if this one breaks. I considering replacing the commercial version in my office with this "home" version.

This is a sharp looking single-serve brewer that unfortunately to me turned out to be a big disappointment. I am normally a big fan of Bunn (and an even bigger fan of coffee), but I definitely feel that this is not near their past product standards that I have previously enjoyed. Initially, the water reeked of plastic. I think the water is heated too much for all the plastic parts in this machine. I spent two days running a combination of water and vinegar through the pulse and brew cycles to get rid of the strong plastic odor (this appears to be a common complaint). It took more than 80 cups (no exaggeration) to get the smell to a tolerable level that didn''t overpower the coffee. That leads me to my next complaint. The pods are recommended for 8oz to 14oz of water but are horrendously weak at 8oz. I can''t imagine anyone enjoying them at 14oz. I tossed most cups of complimentary brewed pods down the drain. My suggestion to Bunn: use metal parts inside, and require larger pods for this machine or claim smaller production.

I followed the setup instructions and found that the machine holds back about a cup of water that remained unaccounted for (2 cups in for the initial 1 cup out, and then 1 cup in for every 1 cup out afterward). It appears to hold back a full cup of water from the brew cycle which probably can''t be healthy if it always sits with a cup of water in it. Other than that, setup was easy. It brews hot and fast, and was good for tea, but none of the pods supplied provided a good cup of coffee, even at only six ounces of water -less than half of the 14 ounces that they claim in the product description. Even aside from the price of this unit, I see no advantage in this unit other than the brew cycle time. It still requires setup and cleanup to make a cup of coffee, and I was surprised that it has as large of a footprint on my counter as my 12 cup coffee maker. After having used and been a fan of Bunn''s commercial lines and home products in the past, I feel that they really dropped the ball on this. While the pods may be more environmentally friendly than the plastic K-cups of other single serve coffee makers, I think I would rather just use a small 4 cup coffee maker with a filter pack, which requires the same amount of labor to make coffee, takes up less space, is much less expensive to buy and use, and in my opinion, makes a better product.

Update: The cartridge began to plug after less than two months. It is being used for a cistern. It is likely that this will have to be replaced monthly. Much more frequent than I expected.

Update 2: I am now on about an 8 week replacement cycle, which represents about 4 to 6 weeks of actual usage based on home occupancy.

Instructions on new GE replacement filter says to check in 6 months but 1 month after replacing filter it was clogged with clay like sediment and had to be changed again to get water to flow into house again.

I''ve been using this Mr. Coffee machine (model ISX43) for a couple of weeks and am very happy with it. The controls are very accessible and easy to use. The coffee is hot enough immediately after brewing and the machine is easy to cleanup. It comes with a water filter which I guess could be useful if your water has particulate matter in it, but for me it''s unnecessary. The machine is fairly tall and the top is hinged at the back and flips up, so you need a quite a lot of room above to open it. Also, the opening in the top to pour in the water is fairly small I have to use the carafe and pour carefully to avoid spilling. The controls include a clock and timer for delayed brewing, a regular and strong brew setting (I can''t really tell the difference) and a cleaning cycle which I haven''t tried yet. The clock is so bright you could use it for a night light. There''s also a temperature control for the hot plate (which turns off automatically after two hours). Last, I''m a fan of chrome and black appliances and find this unit quite stylish.

Edit: I''ve had this machine for almost four years now and I''m surprised at the many negative reviews. It seems there are quality control issues as I''ve not had any problems with the machine. I''ve needed to replace the carafe a couple of times the lip & handle are glued to the top of the glass which deteriorates over time and starts to leak, but that''s all. I have to wonder how often the overflow problems are caused by the carafe not being positioned properly? This model has the feature where you can remove the carafe before the pot has finished brewing to pour a cup replacing the carafe properly allows the basket to resume dripping, but if it isn''t positioned correctly the basket will overflow. The coffee has always been hot enough and I have the hotplate thermostat at the lowest setting. Someone said this pot doesn''t brew 2-4 cups properly and that also hasn''t been my experience. When I brew 2 cups I do use a little more coffee and I switch the brew setting to "strong" the result is fine.

I agree with the two above reviews as far as they go, but I''ve had mine for a year now, and it now makes the weakest coffee on earth. At first, running it through the cleaning cycle solved the problem, but now nothing helps. I use twice the amount of coffee I used to use to get the same result. That''s an expensive cup of coffee!!! I also run it through the cleaning cycle once a week (I only make coffee once a day, so that''s excessive.) Not to mention the hassle of having to clean it so often. It takes an hour to run through the clean cycle, and then you have to make a full pot of hot water twice to clean the vinegar/cleaning solution out of the coffee maker. I just cleaned it yet again, made coffee, and it tastes like muddy water.

I''ve had and used this coffeemaker daily for about 4 years. I also received a stainless steel carafe version of it, but that''s another story... I gave that one away. Anyway, this one has the glass carafe. All in all, it''s been pretty good, but as it ages, there are several issues developing.

Pros:

Makes a pretty good cup of coffee

Is programmable, and fairly convenient to do so

Has an adjustable warming plate setting

Cons:

Not easy to tell if basket is properly seated, resulting in overflow and MESS

Mine has controls with very small black lettering on red background; VERY hard to read

Does not always pour well

Within a couple weeks of getting this coffee pot, we had an overflow incident. All over the counter. Then it would brew only half and stop. So I read the manual and did the clean cycle, even only after this short of period. It would work okay for awhile, and then do the same thing. Or often grounds are in our coffee or tea. Cleaning it doesn''t help any more.

I have been using this coffee maker for two months and like it a lot. I bought it mainly because it is almost unique in having an adjustable warmer plate, so that you can adjust the warmer plate to how many cups are left. Very useful. But easy to forget, as you take cups, and leave it too high. A white mark on the knob would be nice, so that its position is easier to read/notice. Other nice features of this product: 1) Two hour automatic shut off with visual indicator of time left. Sounds corny but actually quite nice. 2) Beep when brewed coffee is ready. 3) Pot pours much better than most. 4) Easy to use. (I''ve never tried using the clock stuff.) 5) Good water level indicators. The only negatives that I''ve found are that it''s fairly tall and might not fit some places, and it looses at least 1/2 cup of water in grounds and left all over the inside of the tank.
