Cuisinart PRC-12 Classic 12-Cup Stainless-Steel Percolator Save 54% Off

Cuisinart PRC-12 Classic 12-Cup Stainless-Steel Percolator, Black/StainlessI do not understand what has happened in the coffee maker industry. It seems as if every coffee appliance I buy fails. This one is no exception. I bought this one only because most of the reviews praised it. Now I am sure that the reviews are phony and must be posted by the manufacturer. There is no control over the time of percolation which for whatever reason has been designed to be too short. The coffee comes out weak especially if you try to make less than 12 cups, the water just doesn''t make it through the strainer for less cups??? The manual suggests using 20 spoons for 12 cups of strong coffee. At this rate I will essentially be using double the coffee grinds to make the same amount of coffee as I did with a much older Faberware I had and the coffee is still weak. The new faberwares are just as bad as everything else manufactured these days. The reviews and the item description also touts that this coffee percolator has a glass knob. This is an outright lie, it is plastic!!!! I was initially pleased with the design although I feel it is made with a lighter guage metal than it should be. I would gladly pay double for this product if it worked. Don''t buy it, it is another coffee maker dud!!!!!

Here''s my take on the whole coffee thing. If you are a coffee guru, then you are going to go through all the trouble it seems to take to make the perfect cup, and this review is a mute point, or you are going to go to Starbucks and pay for the perfect cup. Most people who make coffee at home and in the morning (time permitting) are like me.

Here''s my ideal coffee scenario:

I believe that buying my favorite high quality whole beans (Kenya AA), grinding them myself (coarsely, so they don''t fall through the metal filter), and using the method I believe is best (the nostalgic percolator), is the perfect way to brew. It''s my own preference: 1/3 nostalgia, 1/3 good beans, 1/3 convenience. They say that percolating coffee is burning beans. I and many other would disagree. I wake up grind my beans fill them and some cold tap water into the percolator. I wait 10 minutes while listening to that wonderful sound and smelling that great aroma!!! PERFECT!

For the GURUS, this may seem like heresy, but for me its the best of all worlds.

This model has, so far been great, 4 stars. The "glass knob" is plastic, whatever! Liars!. I''ve been brewing at the 6 cup line (water and beans) for 5 months at 4 to 5 times a week. Still hot and still consistent. It brews the same every time. This consistency over time is what I think will make or break this product. If it cools down a bit I will clean it. If it gets worse then I will be less than satisfied. If it fails before five years then I will be less than satisfied. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to make MY AMOUNT of coffee and how black I like it. I cannot set the heat or the brew time (it''s all automatic), but the coffee comes out very hot (not burned) and very dark. The only thing I can control is the amount of both water and coffee. I have learned what amounts I like. Other times may vary because of the amount of water and coffee used.

Don''t go by what the instructions say go by what is best for you. The amount of coffee you get and the amount it says is one cup WILL BE DIFFERENT. Who cares. Make it the way you like it. This will take time to learn, but it will be best in the end. Every brand percolator is different, to bad you can''t have a trial test before buying.

So far so good...

UPDATE...............UPDATE...................UPDATE 7/12/2010

Sometimes I like to go back and read my old reviews. To get a sense of things, and see to see if I still feel the same way about the purchases I''ve made. Or if the purchase turned out to be a lemon. Or just add something I missed or found new and interesting. Or edit a mistake. Whatever.

A lot of people are giving this perco. a low rating. By the way, mine still works perfectly fine after 2+ years. Still **** (Stupid plastic knob!).

You are cleaning it after every use, aren''t you? If you don''t like cleaning it, it will eventually go bad sooner than you think. So go back to a plastic drip machine if 100% convenience is what you want.

You are unplugging it after all of the coffee has been poured, aren''t you? If you don''t it will probably mess up the heating element. That''s my guess.

I''ve noticed that when I first started using it, I would miss-align the spout tube with the heating dome located on the base. I''ve done this occasionally. All I got was hot, brown water. So make sure you align the spout tube properly.

I''m starting to not like the curved black base. Because, when I fill it up with water from the tap I sometimes bang it on the sink. It feels like I''m gonna knock it off if I''m not careful.

It still brews fine, maybe a little cooler then at first; but its still H. O. T. HOT.

I''ve noticed that darker brews (french roasts) give the best results, although bean-quality is probably more important than roast.

KEEP IT CLEAN BY WIPING IT OUT AFTER EVERY USE USING DRY PAPER TOWELS!!! IT WILL LAST FOREVER.

That''s it.....

I had written a glowing review for the PRC-12 Percolator because it produced a great cup of coffee and heavenly aroma. Now, months later, this product resides in a local landfill and I won''t buy another Cusinart product ever again.

It made great coffee right up to the day I found coffee all over the counter. The leak was tracked to the plastic bulb which broke off when I gave it a gentle twist. I contacted Cusinart Customer Service, emailed a copy of my Amazon receipt and was told they would be happy to provide a replacement lid w/bulb as soon as I could give them the serial number which I was told is on a sticker underneath the pot. Naturally, on my unit, the serial number sticker was missing. What was worse, when looking for the serial number, I found that the base had cracked and warped from the heat of brewing coffee. One more call to Cusinart Customer Service and they once again told me they would be happy to provide a replacement as soon as I provided the serial number which in this case was non-existant. Without that precious serial number Cusinart wouldn''t lift a finger to help. The Amazon receipt was a worthless piece of paper when it came to dealing with Cusinart.

Due to poor Customer service at Custinart, I''ve decided to continue to buy from Amazon but I will no longer buy any Cusinart products.

I bought this to replace my ancient aluminum stovetop percolator, which did make great tasting coffee but the aluminum/alzeimer concerns worried me, plus the thing was stained and almost burnt through from heavy use. Anyway, I did a fair amount of research and this Cuisinart seemed like the best electric percolator available. I thought an electric would be easier to clean (they aren''t). The main point I didn''t consider is that you can''t control the percolating time on these things. That''s pretty much the whole point of percolating coffee; If you want stronger coffee you want to be able to percolate it for a longer time. An electric percolator shuts off automatically after it''s short pre-timed brewing cycle. I tried a variety of beans and ground settings (and added more coffee to the basket to compensate), but it was still weak. The end result here is watery coffee, just slightly better then what you get from a drip machine. What''s the point? I will admit that this percolator is well designed, pours nicely, has a heavy gauge basket and keeps the coffee very hot. That classic percolated taste just isn''t there. If you love the rich taste of percolated coffee like I do (it''s the best!), you really need a stove top model. I''m getting a Bialetti!

SPT SF-613 LED Evaporative Air Cooler Save 22% Off

SPT SF-613 LED Evaporative Air Cooler with IonizerI knew when I purchased this item that it was NOT an air conditioner and that I should not expect the cooling power of an air conditioner. I did expect that it would lower the room temperature by 12 degrees as advertised. After reading the instructions, setting it up, and filling the tank, I let it run in a small bedroom from 5pm until 11pm. After 6 hours the room was not only still hot, but now it was hot and slightly humid as well. People said this works better in dry climates. I live in Southern California surrounded by desert, about as dry as you can get. I felt I had givin it a fair chance and returned the machine.

This unit is the same as the Tayama Air Cooler TC-998 and works as poorly.

Only after filling the entire tray with ice and water chilled overnight does this thing have any cooling effect and even than, it''s only for an hour or so.

Anything less then ice and ice water will do nothing more than generate humidity and waste power.

Save your money and buy a real AC unit for supplemental cooling.

bought this product from a vietnamese supermarket for the same price as offered here. used the evaporative function for about a week, then it started leaking. Took it apart found no cracks in the water tray, also tightened up the drain plug with teflon tape, still leaked. put a ring of plumbers putty where drain hole in water tray meets the frame and reseated the water tray. Did not leak for about an hour, so I left for work, came back home after a few hours, the towels I placed around the bottom on the unit was soaked, leaked again. Cannot return it as I''ve thrown the box and reciept away. The fan function is powerful and works good not sure about how good the ionizer works, but it is always on. Once the unit dries off, I will just use the fan function. Unit is also very light and is attractive, too bad it leaks, will not get another one.

Well if I could give a rating of less than 1 star I definatly would, the output is warm to hot air unless of course you dump a 5 pound bag of ice in the tray and some water, the highest setting is less powerful than the lowest setting on a $20 fan. A total waste of money, you need to be seated within 1 to 3 feet away from it to feel any kind of air from it. DONT waste your money on this junk.

I purchased this expecting to make the room slightly cooler at the very least I expected it to work as described.

However it doesn''t make the room any cooler than a low powered fan using the lowest settings. I did everything as instructed and even bought a bag of ice to put in the water tray and still... not much cooler if cooler at all really than a low powered fan you can buy for $10 I can''t recommend that ANYONE for ANY reason EVER buy this product.

Aerobie 80R08 AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker Save 13% Off

Aerobie AeroPress Coffee and Espresso MakerI have owned the AeroPress for over two years and, judging by the number of filters I have used so far, I have brewed about 600 cups of coffee with it. It has become an essential part of my daily routine. It is fast, easy, and the grounds just pop out into the trash or compost. But all this has already been covered in these reviews. Here are a few additional points worth considering:

-It can brew a few cups of coffee in just a few minutes and make each cup as weak or as strong as my guest wants.

-If you are expecting the coffee to taste like espresso or like French-pressed coffee, remember that the AeroPress uses a paper filter. It filters out much of the oil that would otherwise be present. I prefer my coffee this way but others may not. Think of it as the best drip coffee maker in the world.

-Unlike an espresso machine or a French press, you can grind the coffee in a basic blade grinder because a consistent grind isn''t necessary. In a French press, your coffee will have too much silt and the bottom of your cup will be sludge.

-With a little practice, you''ll soon be able to customize your coffee exactly how you like it. Adjust acidity with water temperature and steep time. Adjust strength with the grind and the coffee-to-water ratio.

-When I lost a piece of my AeroPress, Aerobie sent me a replacement for just a couple of dollars. They were easy to contact, helpful, and friendly. This is a great product made by an excellent little company.

This is the first time I''ve decided to review a product online. If you found this helpful, click the little box below. And if there is anything else you''d like to know, please click "comment" and ask me.

I did many hours of research into coffee makers before deciding on an Aeropress. I learned that several factors influence the coffee you end up with: the temperature of the water, the way the water mixes with the coffee, and how the coffee is extracted from the grounds. I found it difficult to find knowledgeable reviews of the various coffee machines, so I decided to take control of my coffee preparation. The aeropress allows you to control how hot the water is and how long you let it mix with the coffee.

The whole coffee making process is explained in the products instructions.

1. Insert a filter and some coffee into the unit. A coffee scoop and some filters are included with the aeropress, they recommend 1 scoop of coffee per cup.

2. Heat the right amount of water. Markers are printed on the side of the Aeropress to show the recommended amount of water for between 1 and 4 (the maximum) espresso shots. The manufacturers recommend water between 75 and 80 degrees. I don''t know if this is correct, because I don''t have a thermometer in the kitchen, and in any case, I''m not going to stick a thermometer in water to get it to a precise temperature. I boil water in my kettle and let the water sit for a set time before use. Alternatively, you could microwave the water for a set time. A bit of experimentation and you''ll find how hot you like the water. I agree with Aeropress that boiling hot water extracts unpleasant flavors.

3. Mix the water with the grounds. The grounds are immersed in water, much like in a french press, but the manufacturers recommend letting the water sit for no more than about 10 seconds. I find that this is about right, but you can experiment and decide for yourself.

4. Insert the plunger and push the water out of the Aeropress. You press the plunger down so that it extracts the water from the grounds over about 20 seconds. The Aeropress needs to be on a strong and stable container, such as a mug, for this part of the process. Pressing the plunger requires a bit of strength if you are making more than one espresso shot. You''ll need to press down for about 20 seconds.

5. Drink up, or dilute the espresso shot(s) for American coffee or mix them for cappuccino, or whatever.

I am very happy with the Aeropress. It makes great tasting coffee. It''s easy to clean and inexpensive. In my opinion the aeropress is superior to french press or manual drip percolator coffee. It is not as convenient as a machine but I''m willing to spend the effort for good coffee.

***Update 3/15/11*** It''s been over 4 years, and I still use this coffee maker every single day. I''m STILL on my first packet of filters, and still in love. I rinse the filters out and reuse once or twice per filter. And no, I haven''t flipped it over. Yet.

As a certified coffee snob, I thought it didn''t get better than french press. Fugetaboudit! The Aeropress renders a sweet, flavorful, impeccable Americano every time that will change your expectations forever. I have a drip coffee machine, a french press and a Krups espresso maker, and they are all officially retired thanks to the Aeropress.

I can''t say enough about the results, but note that the Aerobie is more time-consuming to use than either french press or drip coffee makers, more comparable to espresso makers. Well worth it, mind you, but NOT as quick and painless as the manufacturer would have you believe. This product makes espresso by forcing air through the grounds using a syringe-type plunger. You must put in a filter, add the grounds, measure out the precise amount of water, add water and stir. You then have to place the Aeropress on top of a cup to use it, exert a pretty good amount of force, and then, if you''re making two or more cups, divy the espresso up into other containers and add water or milk, if you want. So far I haven''t done it, but I think it would be really easy to push too hard, flip over the cup, and spray espresso everywhere.

Still, greatest coffee ever, no competition. If you want the best, you gotta put in the time.

Coffee is one of those things that are highly subjective, coffee snobs and everyday coffee drinkers cannot even agree on what is "good" coffee. It comes down to preference and the Aeropress is great at making a clean cup but still retain some flavor. It cannot make Espresso and it cannot make french pressed coffee. It is regular filtered coffee, whether you hand pour it, machine brew it or push it through a tube, it is plain old filtered coffee. Because of the filter, it cannot make the other kinds of coffee, it can only adjust the strength of the brew.

That being said, the Aeropress is a great filter coffee maker because it gives the user more control than most other systems. You control the temperature, the brew time, the grind and the proportions. Just like a french press, you have full control of all of these things. This allows you to brew coffee in different strengths, although I still recommend using the standard rules of coffee brewing. The point is to extract the exact amount of flavor out of the grinds and everyone has their own opinion of what that means. The standard method is to use 1 table spoon of grinds per 2oz of water, water should be 190F, I prefer a medium grind to avoid extracting bitter/acidic flavors. Timing is the strange part about the Aeropress, with a hand pour method, a slow steady flow works best which takes about 3 to 4 minutes to complete. But with the Aeropress, the water is pushed through instead, so it seems to take about 15 30 seconds. I am not sure if this is a good thing or not, it''s such a small window for error that I cannot tell whether I am doing it right or not. With other brewing methods, it is much slower so you can watch the grinds and the coffee come out and adjust as you brew. But with the Aeropress, it all happens at once and you get what you get. Still, it is consistent and probably good enough for most.

I must emphasize that the Aeropress does not make espresso or french press. Espresso is a mythical drink and to claim that an aeropress can make it is an insult. You probably cannot make decent espresso for less than $600.00. I know that''s snob talk, but seriously, true espresso is amazingly hard to attain, which means you probably wouldn''t even know what it tastes like. So to claim that this thing can make it, probably means you don''t know what you''re talking about. Oh it can make a strong shot of something that tastes like the espresso at starbucks... I''ll leave it at that. As for french press, the filter used in the Aeropress is way too fine to let the oils and flavors through. It will filter out all the floral flavors, the honey flavors and all the really really good stuff in your coffee. This is why the aeropress is so consistent, if you filter out some of the oils and flavors, then many different coffees will taste alike. This is not a bad thing, it is what you want in a clean cup, no earthy, nutty, dirty flavors in every cup (not everyone likes these flavors).

What I don''t like about the Aeropress is the mess. Everything is plastic which the coffee oils easily cling to. If it is not cleaned thoroughly after every use, grinds will start sticking to it and the parts get oily (which adds stale yucky flavors to your next cup), yuck. And for you bulk coffee buyers out there, the beans are especially oily on the outside. This means the inside of the bean is all dried out and you have no flavor in it. It also means that when you grind it, it will get really staticky and fly all over the place. Do yourselves a favor and shop for beans the way you would an orange, look for a bag that feels heavier than it looks, this means the beans are juicier on the inside. Good beans will grind much better, the oils won''t stick to your gear and clean up will be much much much easier. Except for the Aeropress though, because the oils get extracted inside it. Now if they made a pyrex version of the Aeropress, that''d be mighty impressive.

Anyway, Aeropress is good. It''s a quick/dirty way to a good, consistent cup of coffee. Requires more maintenance than preferable. The tube is not very big, so it will only make one mug of coffee at a time, heavy drinkers will not like this. Complaints about it requiring more grinds than other makers are not true, follow the standard brewing rules and all makers use the same amount of coffee (just because more stuff comes out does not mean it is making "more" coffee, just diluted/over brewed coffee). Now I''d be amazed if anyone read this review all the way through.

Wow! Best cup of coffee I ever had. And so simple! The design is brilliant. I''m impressed with the quality of construction, ease of use, ease of cleanup, and the great taste. This is the end of all other methods of coffee production.

I fill the plunger to the appropriate mark with hot tap water and place it in the microwave for 20 seconds (the experimentally determined time to reach 175). While the water is heating I place a filter sheet in the cap, place it on the chamber, and add 1 scoop of coffee. With the chamber on top of my cup, I add the now hot water, stir, and press. Cleanup consists of ejecting the used coffee into the composting pot and rinsing the end of the plunger. Then I''m ready to enjoy a perfect cup of coffee.

I purchased two of these filters last year for my Frigidaire. After about a day the water started to taste like a dusty vacuum cleaner. I thought maybe the one filter was defective so I put the other one in and had the same result. I finally read some of the reviews here and found out that some people were having the same issue. I took the advice of one of the review writers and bought the Frigidaire brand filter at Appliance Zone online (). It cost a little more but was well worth the money, the item shipped very quickly and there is now more "vacuum" taste.

Product arrived on time. This product I will give a 3 stars rating due to a slight off taste of the filtered water. Not any thing major; but it does seem to be getting better as we use more water and ice.

In the box, you''ll find the filter specified, and the filter is the right one it is a match for the filter that I was replacing (Frigidaire RF100). Also in the pack, you''ll find a very small packet of Silicone Lubricant to use on the rubber o-rings of the filter (don''t over-do it with the silicone, or your water will taste AWFUL). There are two o-rings associated with the filter; one at the top (this can be seen in the product image) and one that is placed in the bottom of the filter cup to form a solid seal with the filter housing. The replacement bottom o-ring is incredibly small, and is nowhere near sufficient. I assembled the filter per the directions listed on the package. Once I turned the icemaker water back on, I had water all over the inside of the fridge. I had to dig the old o-ring out of the trash and reuse it in the filter cup (after a thorough washing, of course).

I have the Frigidaire Gallery FRS26ZSH side-by-side. The issue with the ill-fitting o-ring may not be an issue for other models. Good luck with yours!

In response to other reviews I have not noticed a plastic flavor. I didn''t soak the filter, but I did run about 20 pints through the dispenser before I even tasted the water. With the old sealant ring installed, I have had no issues with water leaking.

Mavea Elemaris Water Filtration Pitcher Save 9% Off

Mavea 1001492 Elemaris Water Filtration Pitcher, BlackWe are very pleased with this purchase. We''ve had it for about two months.

You can really taste the difference in the water. No additional appliance to run (Deer Park dispenser was our previous water source).

One note: you have to turn the water faucet off as soon as the little door starts to raise up, otherwise it will overfill the reservior and either leak out around the handle area or "contaminate" your filtered water with water that has not yet been filtered.

I''m really glad that they''re a "greener" company that recycles and we feel better about the reduction in energy use both by eliminating the delivery of water & running a hot/cold cooler constantly.

I used a Brita pitcher for years. Then it broke and went out on line to find they have changed dramatically over the years. The reviews were horrible on them. So went in search of something better. I found this one and was intrigued. I decided to give it a try and am so glad I did. My ice cubes are clearer than with the Brita water. The taste is phenomenal! It even holds more water than a Brita pitcher which is a big plus to me as I drink a lot of water. The only negative to me is the bottom of the pitcher. It is designed to fit in the door of the refrigerator, but I prefer it on my shelf instead. Thus it is a little wobbly when I go to place it on the shelf and need to be sure to set it at an angle so it doesn''t tip over. Otherwise I would have rated this a 5 hands down. Recommend this pitcher highly. I am still on my first filter after a month. I drink ice tea all day long as I work from home. Thus I go through a lot of filtered water.

Buy Mavea Elemaris Water Filtration Pitcher Now

I was looking for a larger capacity filter system that did a good job filtering and was aesthetically pleasing. This product fits the bill beautifully. I have small hands and the handle on this pitcher is quite comfortable, it has a nice balanced feel to it even when you are pouring from a full pitcher. A previous reviewer stated that they did not care for the "feet" of the pitcher, it was unstable when they put it in their fridge.... I have had no such problems. I''m usually in a mad dash & often am careless with items, still no problems with this item being stable. The water filters amazingly fast. I filled up my smaller PUR pitcher & then filled up the Mavea & Mavea filtered more water & in less time. Great for the times when you are putting a pot of water to boil & you need a lot of water quickly. However, I believe the speed of the filtration may be a trade off for quality. Reviewers here all say that they can taste a big difference in the water from Mavea over their Brita & PUR systems, so can I; however, I think it depends on which filter you are using. Mavea tasted better, especially the initial pitcher than the regular PUR filter, however, compared to the PUR filter with the highest level of filtering, I have to say that PUR wins out with a more pure taste than Mavea. It also filters out more contaminants according to the statistics provided by each manufacturer. I hate drinking water, so I notice every little thing...sodium in this one, lead or plastic in that one...I am a real pain. The fact that the cartridges are recyclable is also a plus. Both brands of cartridges have an approximate lifespan of 40 gallons & both state that you should only fill up twice a day for maximum results. I contacted Mavea regarding that last point and also on another matter. Their customer service is EXCELLENT. They promptly responded in a kind & courteous manner.

I would recommend this product and am very happy with my purchase. I only wish that they could/would come up with a stronger filter to filter out more contaminants, at least up to par with what is already out there for other pitchers. Hence only 4 stars

this pitcher is very narrow. it doesnt hold 2.4L of filtered water, as it says on mavea.com. it holds about 1.4L. 2.4l is the total volume

I returned it and got the large one [XL] which holds 2.4l of filtered water,[and not 3.5l as it says on mavea.com]

the XL will also fit in a typical US fridge door-its narrower than a gallon plastic jug of milk. this one might be good for a UK/Euro small fridge door.

also, it says push the filter in until it clicks, but they don''t actually click, as Mavea informed me. Evidently they''re changing their packaging/instructions to reflect this fact...

also just noticed they''ve changed the name to "Kompact" since I bought it.

This back flow or reverse flow will happen when your reservoir tank gets full. So basically, you will be wasting water as the water trickle will not stop. When I tested it, water continued to trickle out of the reject water outlet tube even when my reservoir tank is full already (it should stop when reserve tank is full). The water coming out is at a much slower rate though, but still plenty enough to raise your water bill since the water trickle will continue 24 hours a day.

After 4 years the membrane in my RO need to be replaced (3 5 years, according to the manufacturer). The RO in my home was purchased at Lowe in 2002, and still working good.

I was browsing Amazon.com and I was surprised to see that they have RO membrance for about $10 less than my local home centers. After reading several reviews to make sure it fit into mine, I ordered it.

The membrane arrived a week later, I went ahead and replaced the membrane along with 3 other filters, sediment, pre carbon, and post carbon. The process took me about one hour, and I was carefull with all the tubing and fittings.

After putting everything back together, I turned on the water, and checked for leak. No leak after several weeks.

I highly recommend this membrane

Dr. Fresh Ultra Sonic Humidifier Winnie The Pooh

Dr. Fresh Disney Pooh HumidifierI like that I can adjust the amount of humidity that comes out of the humidifier. The mist comes out of both Pooh''s ears. It is easy to fill and the kids love it. Great buy. Oh yeah and it is very very quiet. I barely even know it is on. Would buy again.

I ordered this cool mist Ultrasonic humidifier from Amazon about three months ago for my 1 year olds room. It is very cute, and fits his room''s them nicely. I like the way that the steam comes out of Pooh''s ears.

We''ve had this humidifier running constantly and haven''t had any problems yet. It has an automatic shut off for when the water level runs low so that the motor isn''t constantly on when there is no steam to produce (a feature missing on my "adult" one in our master bedroom). I also functions as a night light with the tank lighting up a little large for a night light, but it also has a separate on/off switch so that you can choose whether to light up the room or not.

The only drawback to the humidifier is that the water condenses under pooh, so that when you go to fill the tank, there is a puddle of water on top of it that will slosh off.

The other very minor issue I have is with the butterfly knob, as you have to spin it almost all the way around before you get any appreciable amount of steam they could have done a better job in making it more sensitive. It also actually runs over the green/red on/off LED when you turn it on.

Other than those two complaints, this is a very good unit and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I purchased this humidifier to replace the Relion humidifier in my son''s room. It constantly needed to be cleaned or mold would form, and the thing started leaking all over the place, damaging my son''s new dresser. I looked into so many different humidifiers, and finally decided to go with this Pooh humidifier, and I am glad I did. I use distilled water to fill the tank which is only .76 per gallon at our local Walmart, and a gallon lasts a few days. It''s very easy to keep clean, very low maintenance, and I really like being able to adjust the amount of mist that comes out of Pooh''s ears. I notice a pleasant difference when I walk in my son''s room. The air feels much better. This humidifier is not only cute, but it works very well. I am very pleased with it, and would highly recommend it.

BUNN MC MyCafe Single Serve Pod Brewer

BUNN MC MyCafe Single Serve Pod BrewerI recently purchased this brewer and I am still amazed at how quick and easy it is to use. It is small and sleek enough to keep on my kitchen counter, and it''s been a conversation piece! Everyone wants to see how it works and falls in love with it. It is very quiet, fast, and brews a really great cup of coffee. It''s amazing how this small and simple machine can extract so much flavour from the pods. Another aspect that I love is that it is almost instant hot water for tea, hot chocolate, or soup. The water comes out piping hot in minutes if the machine''s been idle about 30 seconds if it hasn''t been, and it saves me from having to rummage for the old kettle and wait for it to come to a boil.

I have heard that for some, pouring water in the brewer each time you want a cup took some getting used to, but this is another aspect I love regardless of whether I want a quick tea before work in a small mug, or a coffee or even soup in one of my huge mugs if I''m going to laze around and read, I don''t have to worry about my mug overfilling or filling only halfway. The amount of water you put in is pretty much the same amount that comes out (slightly less). There is enough room to fit a travel mug or a taller mug if need be the bottom drip tray comes right out.

It''s also very clean. There are no wet filters to touch, no wet coffee grounds, and the pods are compostable! You just pull out the pod drawer and can dump it right into your green bin. Voila! Ready for another cup!

I STRONGLY recommend this machine to anyone who likes new toys, hot beverages, and great quality. It really is such a simple yet amazing machine.

Very much worth getting!!!

I purchased mine from Reunion Island (reunionislandcoffee.com) before it was available on Amazon, and they included about a dozen pods (including a couple of tea samples) from various companies.

I''ve only had this machine for 3 or 4 days now, but I wouldn''t trade it for anything. I''ve always hated throwing away pots of coffee from my Cuisinart (and the 10 other coffee pots I''ve tried) that were still half full because they tasted lackluster and were invariably bitter from staying on the burner too long.

This is perfect for one or two people. I can make 1 cup at a time, which is delivered at a temperature of 200 degrees, and I can choose from a huge assortment of pods and on-line companies (try The Coffee Artisan at thecoffeeartisan.com) while feeling at ease that I''m not adding to the landfills. Love that I can use a travel mug too.

It''s inexpensive to buy the pods, which if you only drink about two cups a day comes out to 39 cents a cup over the course of a year for the pods. If you drink more than that, your savings are even greater. When I consider I was spending $1.35 five days a week (using my own mug and paying the ''refill'' price at my local drive-thru) my savings are much more substantial.

It''s very easy to use and is quite attractive yet takes up less room than my other ''normal'' coffee maker and it''s very fast: the coffee is ready in 30 seconds. Since it''s dispensing hot water, you can also use it for tea, hot chocolate, soup, etc.

There is a huge amount of information and a great in-depth review of the product at a website named "Single Serve Coffee" which not only discusses this product but all the other single serve machines:

Fantastic product!

I''ve had this brewer for a few days now and I feel it rivals any top of the line pod brewer. The coffee it brewers is tasty and very hot. I like the fact that it has a stainless steel tank. As indicated by another reviewer the only downside is the fact that there is no water tank resevoir but you quickly get use to it. It has good clearance for a travel mug and the grill is removable for an even taller cup. One of my better recent purchases.

This is my third POD coffee maker (commercial BUNN MyCafe at my office, and My Invento). It is by far the best. Better in most ways than its $400 commercial cousin. Great coffee, easy to keep clean and use, fast. Takes up very little room on a counter. Fit and finish are very good. This looks and feels like a quality product. I think it makes very good tea too. I make 2-3 cups each morning and lots more when guests are over for dinner. Here''s some advice for best results:

1. Use good coffee PODs. This machine makes a cup that can distinguish between bad, good, and great coffee. This is the first POD maker that allows subtle differences between PODs to show through. Find a good on-line seller of coffee PODs and buy them. (I like Coffee Artisan but there are others).

2. Match the water amounts to the POD size. PODs come in different sizes. This machine can take the bigger, 12 gram PODs. I use 8 oz. of water for a 12 gram POD. This is less water than many of us would guess. I find using an 8 once measuring cup the easiest way to fill the My Cafe machine. If I use a smaller POD, there is one variety that I like which only comes in a 9 gram POD, then I use less water. The machine is fast so that second and third cup are ready in a flash. Do not use too much water unless you like weak coffee.

3 Always use the pulse button. The instructions recommend this for stronger coffee and for tea. Other forums have users always leave that feature on.

4. Use tea PODs for tea. Do not expect great results if you use regular tea bags instead of PODs that are shaped to work in a single serve machine.

5. Use TAP water. BUNN has released information that says the water displacement "reads" minerals in the water to determine how much water you put in and how much should come out. This means that there are issues if you use distilled or other super-pure water.

I love this coffee maker. I have bought one as a gift for my Father. I would buy it again if this one breaks. I considering replacing the commercial version in my office with this "home" version.

This is a sharp looking single-serve brewer that unfortunately to me turned out to be a big disappointment. I am normally a big fan of Bunn (and an even bigger fan of coffee), but I definitely feel that this is not near their past product standards that I have previously enjoyed. Initially, the water reeked of plastic. I think the water is heated too much for all the plastic parts in this machine. I spent two days running a combination of water and vinegar through the pulse and brew cycles to get rid of the strong plastic odor (this appears to be a common complaint). It took more than 80 cups (no exaggeration) to get the smell to a tolerable level that didn''t overpower the coffee. That leads me to my next complaint. The pods are recommended for 8oz to 14oz of water but are horrendously weak at 8oz. I can''t imagine anyone enjoying them at 14oz. I tossed most cups of complimentary brewed pods down the drain. My suggestion to Bunn: use metal parts inside, and require larger pods for this machine or claim smaller production.

I followed the setup instructions and found that the machine holds back about a cup of water that remained unaccounted for (2 cups in for the initial 1 cup out, and then 1 cup in for every 1 cup out afterward). It appears to hold back a full cup of water from the brew cycle which probably can''t be healthy if it always sits with a cup of water in it. Other than that, setup was easy. It brews hot and fast, and was good for tea, but none of the pods supplied provided a good cup of coffee, even at only six ounces of water -less than half of the 14 ounces that they claim in the product description. Even aside from the price of this unit, I see no advantage in this unit other than the brew cycle time. It still requires setup and cleanup to make a cup of coffee, and I was surprised that it has as large of a footprint on my counter as my 12 cup coffee maker. After having used and been a fan of Bunn''s commercial lines and home products in the past, I feel that they really dropped the ball on this. While the pods may be more environmentally friendly than the plastic K-cups of other single serve coffee makers, I think I would rather just use a small 4 cup coffee maker with a filter pack, which requires the same amount of labor to make coffee, takes up less space, is much less expensive to buy and use, and in my opinion, makes a better product.
