No, this "chrome" isn''t true chrome, but I''m really surprised people expected it to be. It comes in white for the same price; you''d think people would assume this was plastic. Mine still looks brand new, though.

You CAN run hot water out of your faucet, you just can not filter it. This is true of all faucet water filters. There''s a bypass that will still allow you to get hot water, but it won''t be filtered.

I live in Chicago where we, admittedly, have water that doesn''t need much filtering...but I''ve had this filter on my kitchen faucet for 3 months now and there''s still 50% of the filter life remaining.

I got this system (with 2 filters) for $9.99 at Big Lots, so I''m surprised to see it costs over $40. It''s a good filter, though.

This is a great filter. It''s a charcol filter which will be slower coming out but cleans much more out of the water than the faster filters. As it''s been stated this is a plastic filter, I have had mine for a year and the chrome look is still in good condition (it can also be bought in white). I have a two person home and a filter lasts us closer to five months. It does not come out hot through the filter but it does if you just use the faucet (you can switch back and forth by turning a knob on the side).

.....and the "plastic coated chrome-look finish" water spotted almost immediately and couldn''t be cleaned or polished into an appetizing appearance--big yuck. The horizontal style should be an improvement, however I found the filter much more difficult to remove than the older white vertical Pur I''d replaced. The final straw was last week, when an overwhelming stench issued from the filter--I''m assuming perhaps the indicator failed and somehow the filter became contaminated....

I loved my old clunky vertical Pur, and I do believe overall Pur makes a good product, but this one is not it.

This is a plastic appliance with a chrome finish. It is not made of chrome, and it, like all the other Pur filter products, will not last for very long because the plastic is prone to cracking. As a matter of fact, according to the instructions, you should not run water of more than 100 degrees through it. In other words, if you attach this gadget to your kitchen sink, your hot water cannot exceed 100 degrees. Water under 100 degrees is not very hot. The unit works, and it works pretty well, but not for very long. It is almost impossible to get more than 30 gallons out of a single cartridge.

My filter worked perfectly for two weeks.

Then the indicator quickly registered the filter going bad. Fine; I can go buy another filter.

But then after a month, the unit started to leak out of the non-filtered spout whenever I ran water through the filter.

The warranty should cover it, but I can''t find any information about warranty returns on Pur''s website, or the packaging, or anywhere else. Conveniently, there''s no phone number for Pur, and they don''t return my emails.

The product has been running smoothly for 2 months now. Arrival was on time, the packaging was very protective, set up is very easy and noise levels are moderate. Hooking a hose to the back for coninuous draining is very easy as the hole is high enough to allow gravity to work well. I''m using the unit for a 900 square foot basement and the air remains dry.

But with such units, real quality cannot be discerned for four to five years. That is when low quality unit issues emerge, such as coolant leakage or other compressor failures. So while I rate this unit very high, I can''t say that with certainty over the long run

The unit is made in Poland. The country is encouraging high quality manufacturing at lower than German costs, but better than Chinese made products. I''m tired of Chinese stuff failing so I am hoping this was a good gamble. Check back in another two years

I ordered the Oasis D-165HG after two Chinese manufactured dehumidifiers died, each after only two years of operation. Both were made by LG (one Kenmore and one GE) and suffered refrigerant/oil loss.

The D-165HG is a bit pricey and not terribly efficient but if it lasts a long time it''ll be worth the expense. It''s old technology using a Tecumseh piston compressor made in Brazil and a sealed Morill fan motor made in Tennessee. I know both of these major parts to be of high quality. The remaining materials and workmanship appear to be good.

Packaging for shipping wasn''t so great. It was covered by a cardboard box and strapped to a tiny skid. When it arrived the bucket full light was pushed out of the front panel. I pushed it back in. When powered up it worked perfectly with one exception, a rattle when the hot gas defrost cycle kicked on. I found there are two rows of expansion coils and the rear most row was pushed in, so it tapped against the front row when the solenoid opened. I gently pulled them apart and no more knocking.

It''s a very quiet unit and it pulled the cool basement humidity down as quickly as the two 65 pints/24 hours rated LG models, although it''s rated at 30 pints/24 hours. Under what conditions do they rate these things? Frankly, I find the LG units ratings hard to believe.

The warranty is one year, customer pays labor and transportation. There is a five year warranty on the sealed refrigeration system, customer pays labor and transportation. So the warranty isn''t very good but I expect this unit to last a very long time given past experience with similar designs if being made in Poland means quality workmanshipwe shall see.

After some reflection I believe the reason the bucket full indicator was pushed out and the evaporator coils had shifted is due to the tiny skid raising the center of gravity of the package, making it prone to toppling and increasing any resulting damage. I also noticed a series of dings in the condenser coil fins that line up with the bottom ends of the innermost section of the evaporator coil. I believe that during shipment the package tipped over onto the face side of the dehumidifier.

I ordered one of these dehumidifiers and it did not work. Because of my long search for a good dehumidifier I ended up learning about them. So I decided to troubleshoot it a little. I found out that the coils were not cold behind the filter on the top back of the unit. I opened the front cover (three Phillips screws underneath) and found that when I turned the unit on the compressor did not turn on. Fan and Compressor make very different noises, so If you can only hear air blowing, the compressor is not on. I saw in the bottom back left corner that one of the wires was off of its receptacle. I unplugged the the power and plugged in the loose wire. Then plugged the power cord into the wall and fired it up and the compressor coils instantly chilled.

So far after that issue it has been working nicely. This was almost a 1 star review. While I was poking around the insides I could see the nice workmanship and good quality materials. No Plastic parts internally. Hopefully it will last a long time, my last dehumidifier broke in a year. This is why I figured I should spend more to get a well made unit, because $200 every year gets more expensive if I live longer than 3 years. Which I plan to do. Will revise in the future if anything changes.

The dehumidifier works well so far. We have a cold basement (around 62 degrees) that off-the-shelf residential models just couldn''t handle without freezing up. This model hasn''t had any issues with the cold. Front wheels lock so the unit doesn''t walk away. The only issue I see is the front plastic panel rattles. It could use some rubber between the housing and the panel. The water tank is a bit small but a hose can be used to drain directly to a drain.

Have this in my cellar going on four months now. Nice simple design. I use the hose attachment for continuous drain. It has kept the cellar nice and dry (100yr old limestone foundation). I am banking on it lasting for years.

Well-made slipper, but size a bit small -I''ve a size 13 foot, ordered a size 14 slipper, but it was a little too small. Fortunately my brother''s feet are a little smaller than mine so I passed them on to him.

I wear a size 10 and so that''s what I ordered, but the slippers are significantly too tight. That is definitely not the comfortable fit I am looking for in a slipper. Going up to the next size would be the obvious solution, but Amazon does not have those in stock and the other sellers available here price them much higher.

I am disappointed. They are a good looking slipper, just what I was looking for. They look like you could wear them at home around guests and not feel like you''re underdressed. At first glance, they seem to be a quality shoe. I recommend taking this size issue into account when ordering.

Only problem now is they are too long in the back and slide off his heel. Socks help some but not totally. He says they are OK for slippers or to get the mail, but I don''t expect to see him wearing these out in the world.

I had originally purchased the Krups version of their fanciest dual machine and it arrived non-functional with a display and buttons that were a little too "Star Trek" for me anyway...in fact, they didn''t function at all. The Delonghi Caffe Nero (so far) has been very straighforward, easy to use, and produces good coffee and espresso. The quality of the coffee is moderate-high and I''m impressed with its strength selection system (a simple knob) and the mechanism by which it brews. No bells or whistles to confuse me. I did think initially that the permanent filter might be difficult to clean but not so far. However, the heat resistant coffee pot has an interesting design and a strange top which snaps on somewhat awkwardly and appears vulnerable to breaking but otherwise I have not found any major flaws with this machine as of yet.

Good coffee, good espresso, easy to use, easy to program for the next day. We''ll see...

On the outside, this is a beautiful machine. Unfortunately, the mechanics don''t match. 6 months after my wife and I purchased it, the hinge on the back cover broke. Ok, so my original faucet for this unit had a nice button on the tip to turn the water on and off. This made its easy for kids since they do not have to reach to the end of the sink. Unfortunately that original unit broke so I had to find a replacement. The ones at Home Depot look suspiciously cheap plus they didnt come with any piping. Lowes had a replacemenbt for $59.00 -more that I wanted to spend. So I looked up the item number and found it here at Amazon plus free shipping.

Just hooked up the unit and sure enough its making a "deal breaking" water running sound coming from the air gap! Its driving me nuts!!! Arrrgggghhh!!!! Eager to figure out how these things work I took apart the old unit and discovered its just that -and air gap presumably to prevent waste water from entering the discharge side. The old unit had a rather small air gap chamber. This unit obviously has a big air gap chamber thus the running water sound as the unit discharges waste water to the drain. I''m going contact Watts and find out if they have a solution. Right now, I''m planning on returning this noise maker but I''ll give it a day. I say to buy a nother unit but I havent come up with a reasonable replacement...yet! Stay tuned!

Sunbeam Ultrasonic Visible Mist Humidifier

Bought this last year & we only used it 3-4x, for a total of maybe 16 hours of use. It worked great & we had no complaints. Dried it & stored it according to instructions & brought it out this year. After the initial use of about 2 hours it stopped creating mist. Turn to the instruction "leaflet" that was included with it when we bought it and the only "solutions" for the humidifier not creating mist were: 1. It ran out of water; refill the tank -OR2. It''s not plugged in, or it is plugged in but isn''t turned on high enough. Thanks, but I''m not an idiot, so it was plugged in, filled with cool water & turned on HIGH and still no mist. Tried cleaning it thoroughlyeven though it wasn''t really dirty and made no difference. A vast waste of money & I will certainly check reviews before purchasing my next humidifier. Thought we could just pick up any one because we don''t use it often, but clearly I was wrong.

I mostly concur with all the points made by the brimar''s review. If you know what to expect from an ultrasonic humidifier, this one does the job adequately. However, to add or highlight a few points:

-if you set the unit on high, it will easily put out more vapor than it can disperse into the air, which will result in soaking the surfaces in front of the humidifier (not a problem unique to this humidifier).

-it lacks a humidistat. (That''s a dial like a thermostat that automatically turns off the mist output when the desired level of humidity is reached.) You can find other humidifiers in this same price range that include this feature.

-the tank is very tall, and you fill it from the bottom, so don''t be surprised if you end up having to fill it in your bathtub. (This is also a problem many current humidifier models suffer from. Most have awkwardly shaped tanks that either don''t fit under a typical bathroom sink tap and/or don''t balance when turned upside down.)

In summary, this unit has some of the same flaws seen in many current humidifiers, making it average.

Cons:

-If the water runs out, the ultrasonic disk will get VERY hot (trust me, I touched it) and mine didn''t shut off automatically -Now it only puts out half as much vapor

-Blower isn''t large enough, the bubbler puts more vapor than the fan can blow, so the water vapor will get your floor soaked if you turn it on high

-approximately $40, too much. should cost about 20-30.

I bought the Bissell SpotLifter 2X to replace an older Bissell model that finally wore out after 5 years. We have 3 indoor cats that frequently soil our rugs and carpeting, so a quick and easy carpet cleaner is a must. The old version worked well, but this model works even better.

The suction is much improved, and this model cleans our rugs and carpet much better than its previous version. Battery life is excellent -we have used this cleaner several times over the past few weeks and still have yet to recharge the battery (the instructions recommend recharging only after the battery runs down to maximize battery life). The cleaning solution is readily available at places like Target and inexpensive. It is easy to empty the collection chamber after cleaning.

If you want a simple, affordable, rechargeable, cordless spot carpet cleaner, this is the one to buy. If the SpotLifter 2X lasts even half as long as the one it replaces it will have been a very good investment. I would not hesitate to buy it again.

First off, I bought this at Target for $40 before I read these reviews. So I am going to comment on the previous reviews.

1. This is not a whole room cleaner like Hoover Steamvac, so don''t expect the same thing (but I will make comparisons).

2. Water does spit out of the motor vents WHEN the dirty water container is full (which is less than an inch in this thing). Remember this is for spots!

3. No, there isn''t alot of water that comes up from the carpet because there''s not alot of soap being sprayed out of the sprayer. And most of it is in bubble form.

4. Yes, the dirty water container does need to be pulled off (and on) at an angle. I have a dustbuster, so I''m used to the "angle" thing.

5. Don''t expect suction like a Hoover Steamvac (which is plugged into the wall) from this machine (which is battery operated).

6. I haven''t had any problems with the rubber seals on my machine.

7. Sometimes this thing may not pull up ALL the spots. How many products have we all tried to get the most stubborn stain out? My husband and I found $40 is worth trying to get the stains out. And if that doesn''t do it, there''s always elbow-grease. :)

This one replaced our original spot lifter bought in 2002. The old model was a little smaller and had a little less suction. The new one now is bigger, heavier and has more suction, but it is not better.

First, the unit spits sucked up fluid from the motor air vents apparently sucking cleaning solution through the liquid trap in the canister and into the engine. This does not damage anything, but if you clean up house pet messes, you don''t want some of that stuff come shooting out of the air vents, right?

Further, the canister is difficult to attach and you have to get it angled just right to snap into position. Oterhwise it will not go in.

It surprises me that Bissel has gone backwards in functionality of this great tool. The original unit we had was great, functioned great and none of the problems this new unit has. They are also clearly engineering or design flaws that were not present in the older model.

But anyway, we had one of these little Bissels now four almost four years and it has been a savior for the carpet in two homes. Now the battery is finally to the point where it won''t hold charge and the tank/collector started leaking. I am galdly buying a new one today because if used as intended for small spots, it works great! Important is to lift off any fluid that''s on the carpet first, then thoroughly (!) soak the spot with the cleaning fluid and suck it in the machine. DO this twice, for which there is enough fluid in the tank, and your spot will be gone. I love this little machine!! Excellent with kids and pets.

Austin Air Healthmate Jr Replacement Filter

The item does what it''s supposed to do: It filters. It''s amazing how much quieter the machine gets when you replace the filter.

Doing the replacement itself is a bit of a dirty affair, because presumably the old filter is full of everything you''re allergic to, and you have to pull it right out of the machine, with dust going everywhere, before you put in the new one. I recommend doing it outside.
