Water Filter Reverse Osmosis Faucet Chrome Tip

Water Filter Reverse Osmosis Faucet Chrome Tip
  • Elegant long reach faucet.
  • Ideal for undercounter water filters & reverse osmosis
  • Non Air Gap Faucet

A nice replacement for a very expensive Kinetico part. The quality is very good and I don''t miss the old one at all. No problems, easy installation, good service. Definitely worth the money.

I purchased this product three months ago, and here I am on Amazon needing to buy another one. Save yourself the time and buy a better product to begin with. The black tab on the faucet, which is used for dispending broke off and now the faucet is useless. It is not a quality made product and not for everyday use.

It works fine, easy to install. It''s harder for small kids to push the lever to get the water going, but it''s a cheap generic solution.

This is the same fauset that came with most of the early under counter water filters. They are getting hard to find as most have gone to the larger threaded base. I gave it a 4 because it has a slight drip.

I received this faucet and installed it without any problems. The black handle is a little hard, but works really good. Product does not leak at all as others have mentioned. For the price, this is good and should be considered when replacing your broken one. Good general entry faucet replacment.

Aprilaire #4226 Feed Tube

Aprilaire #4226 Feed TubeMy Aprilaire feed tube was leaking -I have no idea why. So I had to contemplate whether to have a service man come and make the repair or do it myself. The kit arrived with everything I needed to to the job and I succeeded in no time at all in stopping the leak and at a fraction of the cost.

A small filter (not shown in picture) was supplied which didn''t fit my shutoff, but everything else was great. I had tried to clean out the old tube with a metal coat hanger but all I succeeded in doing was break the old feed tube. Replacement fit perfectly.

Omni Corporation CB1-SS Carbon Block Undersink Replacement Cartridge Save 19% Off

Omni Corporation CB1-SS Carbon Block Undersink Replacement Cartridge
  • NSF certified
  • Reduces cryptosporidium and giardia cysts
  • Improves taste
  • Reduces odor and chlorine
  • Reduces rust and sediment

I have used the CB1 filter several times to replace the more expensive CB3 and it works just fine, although Omni never suggests anywhere that this is acceptable. I guess they would rather sell more CB3 filters. But if you research the housings for Omni''s different units you discover that the one that accepts the CB3 filter is the same as the one for the CB1. Granted the CB3 filter does remove more stuff from the water but my concern is primarily taste and odor and the CB1 is a carbon filter which does this well. Unfortunately when I got ready to use the filter and removed all the packaging I could see that the filter was cracked. I had no choice to install it with the crack as the old one had been discarded and I didn''t want the hassle of trying to exchange it. It seems to be working OK. So my only dissatisfaction was with the condition of the filter not its performance.

What can you say. It does the job and easy easy to flush. I have all water in the kitchen going through a gang of these. Seems like it filters well. Ice isn''t extremely clear, but that could be other factors causing it. No smell, tastes great, happy with them. I buy a case at a time.

BUNN BXB Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer Save 26% Off

BUNN BXB Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, BlackI will not bore you with all of the exact specifics of this coffee brewer. There are plenty of other reviews here on Amazon BUNN BX-B Classic 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, Black or check the Bunn website for additional info here: http://www.bunnomatic.com/retail/products/b.html

This Bunn BX-B 10-cup coffe brewer is a pricey but fantastic coffee maker for your home or small office. I bought one for my office, so that I can make myself a quick pot of coffee when I get to work or whenever someone stops by to visit my office during the day. This machine makes coffe FAST and the flavor of the coffee is always consistent. Although I have never found many of the Bunn coffee makers to be much of a fashion statement, this unit is fairly high-tech looking, with its black and stainless color combination. Since the water flows out of this unit so quickly, using a showerhead type spray pattern, I highly suggest that you always use genuine Bunn coffee filters as the store brand filters are usually not tall enough, causing the ground coffee to splash up and over the edge of the shorter filters.

One noteable difference between this and most previous pour-over Bunn models is that this unit does not require the use of a seperate water pitcher. You simply fill your coffee pot with water, lift the little door on the top/front of the unit and pour your water in. The most important step is to place the coffee pot on the warmer plate, being sure to center it properly, before lowering the door on the top of the coffee maker. As soon as you lower the door the water will start to flow quickly. If you lower the door before you place the pot underneath, you will likely end up with a bit of a mess. Also, I recommend that you insert your filter and pour in your measured amount of ground coffee before pouring water into the Bunn, because even with the door up I find that some water tends to drip from the output nozzle, causing water to drip down onto the warmer plate. I fill my pot with water, set it aside while installing my filter and ground coffee, then pour in my water, center the pot on the warmer plate and then lower the door. This has produced proper function every time, without any mess to clean up.

My likes and dislikes are as follows:

Pros:

*****

Makes a pot of coffee in only 3 minutes or less!

Consistent coffee flavor with every pot

No need to use a seperate water pitcher as with previous Bunn models

Simplistic operation that anyone can handle

Easy to clean and maintain

Pleasing black and stainless steel design

Build quality seems to be much higher than many other coffee makers

Cons:

*****

No automatic shutoff (could pose hazzard if warmer plate is left on over the weekend)

No timer feature for brewing coffee at a set time

No temperature control for the warmer plate (it gets VERY hot!)

If you don''t use it for several days some of the water evaporates from the hot water tank

Must use genuine Bunn coffee filters, which are not always easy to find

Pricey for a basic coffee maker

The cons are somewhat minor but the lack of an automatic shutoff really bothers me. I ended up purchasing a seperate digital appliance timer, which I plug the Bunn coffee maker into, so that I can set power on and off times. This way I don''t have to worry about leaving the warmer plate turned on over night or over the weekend. Overall I am extremely happy with my Bunn BX-B coffee brewer. It is easy to use and makes a great tasting pot of coffee in just under 3 minutes. It is also a great device for producing plain hot water. If you exclude the filter and coffee this unit produces a pot of very hot water in less time than it takes to make the normal pot of coffee. This is great for making instant coffee, hot chocolate, tea, instant oatmeal, etc. The BX-B carries a pretty hefty price tag (as all Bunn models do), but it is built well and makes excellent coffee in a flash. If you believe that time is money (as I do), then the Bunn BX-B is worth every penny for all of the time you''ll save. =o)

I bought this to replace an older Bunn which I loved, but was accidentally ruined by my wife. However, the new model does not heat the water hot enough. I performed several tests and the water conistently comes out at 180 degrees. This is below Bunn''s stated temperature of 190. Ten degrees may not sound like much, but it makes a big difference.

I usually put a pot of coffee in a thermos after it is brewed. Since the Bunn''s brewing temperature is so low, the coffee does not stay warm for very long. I believe that a good coffee maker should heat the water a little above 190 so that the coffee comes out hot.

I believe other reviewers have had the same complaint. I sure wish Bunn would go back to their old design. I think this is going to be the last Bunn I will purchase.

I have been looking for a new coffee maker and went to consumer reports, Amazon, Qvc, HSN, and read all the reviews.

So this is the one I picked, and I am so blessed that I picked this coffee maker, on a score from 1 to 10 I give it a big 10. Coffee is brewed hot; we grind our own coffee beans, as we do not buy coffee out in the coffee shops. What we do buy is the best coffee beans we like, Dunkin Donuts, Green Mountain Yankee Doodle, Coffee by Design here in Maine.

If you want a good cup of coffee buy this unit, and you will not be sorry. Remember that when you go out to the coffee shops and pay $2.08 for a large, that is $64.20 a month for just one cup of coffee a day, think of the nice coffee maker you could have, and the best beans ground at home. We also have the Bunn coffee grinder, that we have had for three years now.

God Bless,

Lenny Gauba Maine

This is not my first Bunn. The one I just replaced gave us many years of

faithful service. The reason I made this purchase is the age of the old one and an occasional strange noise. I did not want to get caught without a coffee pot. The new Bunn arrived very quickly and I am pleased

with the way it looks. However, the quality is not the same as the old

one. Also this pot sprung a leak after a few weeks of using it. I will probably have to replace this one much sooner than the last one. I will

see what else is on the market at that time.

Since I wrote this review we contacted Bunn about the leak problem. They

promptly replaced the pot with a new one. I would highly recommend dealing with the Bunn Company. We love our new pot.

I don''t normally review a item after owning it just over a week, but today I decided I should review the Bunn BX. Like I said, I have only owned it just over a week. No problems setting it up, just follow the instructions. It has made good coffee from day one. I love getting it ready to brew and then going out to get the paper. It''s ready before I can get out the door. With my old brewer, I still was waiting after I started reading the paper.

This morning put the icing on the cake for me. I had just put coffee in the basket when the electric went out. I thought No coffee. There was a cup left from yesterday, maybe I could heat it in the microwave, but could not even do that. Then it hit me, there was heated water in the tank. All I need to do was pour the cold water in to push that hot water out. So five minutes into a power outage, I was brewing a nice hot "5 star" cup of coffee. I would think one could brew coffee even a half hour into a power outage.

The only down side to the Bunn is that it is not a 12 cup. But I can put up with that after this morning.

Copco Sierra Cold Tumbler, 24-Ounce Capacity

Copco Sierra 24-Ounce Cold Tumbler, Hot PinkI bought 3 different BPA-free travel tumblers on Amazon last month. This one good, and I''ll definitely keep using it, but it does not compare well to the quality and features of the other 2.

All three are all priced within a few dollars of each other, and available for Free Super Saver Shipping and Amazon Prime. I have used them only for ice water and iced tea (black and herbal), and they hold no residual flavors, even with strong teas like peppermint. I cannot vouch for how any of them would fair with smoothies, soda, or coffee drinks.

I''d rank them in this order

BEST: Aladdin Migo Aero 16-Ounce Insulated Water Tumbler with Straw, Purple

Pros: Double wall reduces sweating, stays cold, tight-fit lid, looped top handle makes it easy to carry when my hands are full, lid is domed on the interior, which makes it easy to put on even if it''s full and ice cubes are pushed up by the straw, looks very cool, fits in car cup holder, can be left at a 60 degree angle without spilling, eligible for Amazon''s 4 for 3 promotion.

Cons: Only 16 ounces are insufficient for a very hot day.

VERY GOOD: 3 Pack of BPA Free 16oz To-Go Double Wall Plastic Tumblers with 6 Reusable Straws

Pros: Double wall reduces sweating, stays cold, look very much like real drinking glasses, lids are very secure, fit in a car cup holder, six straws included for the three cups in the package, 3 cups with 3 different color straws, eligible for Amazon''s 4 for 3 promotion, BPA-free.

Cons: Lids are a little more difficult to put on because they are wider, the pink straw and the red straw look similar in dim light causing some bickering between my kids, only 16 ounces are insufficient for a very hot day, I had to go to the manufacturer''s website to find out that they are BPA-free.

FALLS SHORT: Copco Sierra 24-Ounce Cold Tumbler, Hot Pink

Pros: 24 ounce capacity saves me trips back to the kitchen for refills, silicone band around the middle provides no slip grip, easier to see the color in dim light.

Cons: NOT double-walled so it sweats profusely and feels a lot less sturdy than the other 2, lid is a little more difficult to put on because they are wider, not eligible for the Amazon 4 for 3 promotion.

I bought one of these cups after seeing one of my friends with one. I have since ordered 4 more as gifts! You can''t find these colors anywhere for this price (around $13 every where else). These cups are FANTASTIC!!! Durable, cute, perfect size, AWESOME & unique straw (that doubles as a stirrer)...I could go on and on about this cup. I use it daily for iced coffee then after a quick wash I fill it and use it all day with ice water. It can be taken to your fav coffee place and filled with any ''venti'' size cold drink and you''ll save .20 for bringing your own cup! Two notes: 1st, even though it says dishwasher safe I would recommend hand washing to prolong the life of the cup. And 2nd, The lid has a rubber ring that seals the cup from spills. Be careful not to turn the lid too tight or you''ll loosen the ring and have to use something to stuff it back. It is an easy fix, but I didn''t realize when I bought it that it has a quarter turn locking lid. **even though lid seals you can still spill through the hole for the straw**

LOVE LOVE LOVE this cup!!!

I bought the Starbucks version of this style cup for $15 and liked it but wanted a cheaper version of it so I could have several on hand. I found these here and bought three of them. They are very nice for what they are intended for and I do like them but they aren''t as nice as the Starbucks one. These are not double walled so their insulation is not as good and that causes them to sweat. But I can live with that. The straws on these are MUCH better than the one that comes with the Starbucks cup because they have a stirring mechanism built in with the "fins" on the bottom.

All in all they are very nice and I would recommend them to others. However, if you are looking for the same quality as the Starbucks cup you will be somewhat disappointed with these.

Someone I know raved about their Starbucks double-walled cold cup and I went to Amazon hoping to buy my own. They were out of stock at the Starbucks stores and being sold by others on Amazon for outrageous prices, so I investigated other options.

I wanted a 24 oz. cup so that narrowed my choices right off the bat. The Copco Sierra tumblers looked really cute and I liked the rubber grip feature, secure lid and "finned" straw. All the initial reviews were positive so I purchased 2 of these.

The bright colored versions of these tumblers are exactly the same as the brown version, but for some reason Amazon has them listed separately. Someone who reviewed the brown one said that they were double-insulated and did not "sweat" though other people said they did.

Here''s the real deal: they are NOT double-insulated, and they DO "sweat!" See my photos for verification. Even the rubber hand grip portion collects condensation, and also gets very coldso overall I would say these are not very well insulated and you need a coaster if you don''t want a wet table.

The other thing that disappointed me is that the tumblers are not comfortable to drink out of directly (without the straw and lid), because of the threads for the screw-on lid. sometimes I like to use a cup like this without a straw, but I won''t be using this one that way. The screw-on feature does make the lid more secure, so it''s a trade-off.

Bottom line is, I like but don''t love these tumblers. Guess I''ll wait for the next shipment of the double-walled ones from Starbucks unless something better comes along!

Want Copco Sierra Cold Tumbler, 24-Ounce Capacity Discount?

I''ve been on a quest to find a new cup for work.. and I''m glad to say I''ve found it! This is easily my new favorite cup. The material is a nice and sturdy plastic the top lid uses a quarter turn lock so it doesn''t require a whole lot of effort to get it on and off the cup. If closed correctly it will prevent any major spills from occurring should it get knocked over, However liquid can escape through the straw hole and the seal if not turned right side up in a timely fashion. Overall it provides a fun and stylish way to be ECO-friendly with your cool summer drinks.

Maytag UKF8001AXX PuriClean II Refrigerator Cyst Reducing Water Filter Save 29% Off

Maytag UKF8001AXX PuriClean II Refrigerator Cyst Reducing Water Filter, 1-Pack
  • Reduces cysts, chlorine''s taste and odor, particulates, lead, mercury, and more
  • Change every 12 months
  • For refrigerators with filter access inside the refrigerator
  • For use in Maytag and Jenn-Air refrigerators
  • NSF-certified refrigerator water filter

You gotta hand it to Maytag they made replacing the water filter very simple. Took all of about 30 seconds from start to finish. And about 20 seconds of that was wiping up the water that dripped out of the old filter when I pulled it out, so the next change should go even better ;-)

We have a family of six and we drink water almost exclusively, so I went ahead and changed the filter at six months just like the owner''s guide recommended. However, I could see no evidence that the filter was near its end of life and am convinced that I can get more use out of the filters than the suggested six months. I will try to keep an eye on things, but without a little window I really have no way other than flow to know what is going on.

And that is why I gave this a rating of four stars. The filter seems to work wonderfully and replacement is a breeze, but I would be happier if I could look at the state of the filter while it is in use.

My Ice Cube make was having major problems. Ice Cubes were hollow and Ice was sticking on the White Prongs that pop the cubes out. I called Amana and they were no help so I figured that the Cube maker was not getting enough water flow.

I replaced with this filter and now the Ice Cube maker is like new and the water shoots out of the dispenser like crazy. What used to take 25-30 seconds to fill a glass of water now takes 3-5 seconds.

So if you are having Ice Cube issues or poor water flow buy this.

It''s a little expensive for a water filter but it''s worth it.

Oh and the water tastes good too.

This is a very expensive item for what you get, and it certainly doesn''t last as long as they say it does. The taste of your water coming through this filter is great for the first month or so, but then the quality drops noticeably quick.

I think the price of this item is unfairly high, but once you buy a refrigerator that needs them, you''re stuck. You either buy the filter or put up with nasty tasting water from your refrigerator spigot.

A good rule of thumb, if you''re buying one filter, better buy two, because you''ll need a new one quicker than you think.

DeLonghi ECAM22110SB Compact Automatic Cappuccino Save 26% Off

DeLonghi ECAM22110SB Compact Automatic Cappuccino, Latte and Espresso MachineWe bought this after a couple of months looking (unsuccessfully) for a replacement for our 15-year-old krups drip brewer which we loved until it finally pooped out and started leaking like a sieve. At some point in our search we said "maybe we should get serious." This is the first super automatic espresso machine we''ve ever owned so I can''t compare it to anything but I will say this: we love it.

We knew enough to know that "super automatic" is important if you don''t like the actual manual process of making espresso (we don''t) and since this one doesn''t actually say "super automatic" but rather "compact automatic" I was a little confused but eventually learned that compact automatic just means it''s a super automatic with a smaller footprint. For those really ignorant like us: Super Automatic means you fill the bean bin and the water bin once every so often, and then it''s ready to go. When you want a drink you turn it on and press a button single espresso, double espresso, single lungo, or double lungo. Then you watch as it makes a bunch of interesting noises then fills your cup with beautiful, steaming hot frothy coffee. Then you drink it. Super automatic.

The benefit of a compact super automatic is the smaller footprint of course. The downside is that you have to fill the bean and water reservoirs (and empty the dregs basin) more frequently than "regular size" super automatic. For us it is about twice a week two adults home all day and we like coffee. We''re actually probably going through more than normal right now because we''re enjoying playing and experimenting with strengths, mixes, quantities, etc. It has been a few days and already I''ve figured out my tastes but it''s still fun trying new things.

If you love coffee and want to treat yourself this is a winner. The small footprint is nice it doesn''t look like a commercial espresso machine sitting on our counter (though it''s bigger than a regular drip maker). Again I don''t have anything to compare it to since this is our first one but I can''t think of anything about it we don''t like. You have to remove the outside part of the steamer/frother to clean it, or you can leave it off when you froth and avoid that cleaning step. But I don''t do any frothing anyway (wife does).

It''s super. It''s automatic. It''s compact. It makes incredible espresso, americana, lungos, long blacks, cappucino, and lattes. We are very happy. I will post back after our first full cleaning.

August update: It has been 8 months and we love it just as much as when we first got it. We cleaned it once it was trivial. No issues except that one bag of beans we purchased from Trader Joes were a little oily and they got stuck in the hopper another reviewer also mentioned this. I removed the little cap from over the hopper (2 philips head screws) and left it off not sure how or if that can hurt anything but it has worked fine since.

Seriously we love this thing. There is nothing like feeling an urge for a cup a joe and 3 minutes later having one in your hands with nothing to do or clean up. And it is goooooood stuff. We were talking the other day and decided it''s the best luxury gift we''ve ever given ourselves.

PROS: Makes very good coffee and lattes. Sleek, good-looking appliance. Works as you would expect.

CONS: (very minor) Chrome "heating" plate doesn''t get warm enough to heat anything (who cares?). Beans on the "oily" side don''t always feed smoothly from hopper to the grinder.

I''ve owned several automatic machines over the years from Saeco and DeLonghi (most recently the DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine) that have acted as our go-to small office coffee makers. (I''m a latte-holic myself, 4 to 5 a day, and admitting that is the first step toward recovery I''m told...) I have a tendency to wear them out in 2 to 3 years because they get a lot of use, 5 days a week. But that is to be expected, at least by me, as these really are intended as home-use machines. That being said, this is a fine machine for it''s job which is to keep me in lattes!

It makes very good, tasty shots of espresso for those lattes, steams my 1% milk great with a nice, dense foam, and the regular coffee drinkers are very happy with their full coffees.

Tip: Best way to froth the milk?: swing the frother arm all the way to the left and stack your steamed-milk container with your cold milk in it on top of an empty coffee mug off to the side on the counter. That way your milk container is high enough to just sit there with the wand in it as it steams. You can walk away for a couple of minutes and do something useful. Just don''t go too far away and "forget" it''s steaming what a mess! But the frother "froths" really well all by itself, doesn''t over-bubble and spill over the side like some past machines have done. Well-designed.

Right out of the box, it made a great-tasting first latte for me. One of the best, actually. I left the grinder on the factory setting, and set the rotating knob to between 1:30 and 2:00 o''clock position (just guessing) and it made both a great double-shot of espresso AND a great-tasting regular coffee on my first two tries (I used the "double" buttons on both the espresso side and coffee side that''ll make more sense once you see the machine and read the instructions).

I''ve only had it about a month, but so far so really good. The only minor issue is that bean hopper "con" above. It''s a bit shallow in slope, so my slightly oily beans (Costco/Kirkland espresso, roasted by Starbucks beans) get stuck sometimes during the grinding portion of the process, and I have to lift the lid and stir them a bit with a spoon to make sure they get down where they need to go not a huge inconvenience.

I''ve had a couple of the DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnificas DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine mentioned earlier, and they are GREAT machines! (that''s the one I have at home for weekend use). I''m hoping this latest DeLonghi for the office lives up to that model''s standards. By the way, the model number for replacement water filters is: SER 3017. Google "Water filter SER 3017" though, to find it online, because it doesn''t show up on Amazon. And DeLonghi customer service was no help at all via an emailed question about the filter, which should be a concern to them I would imagine. Hey Amazon, how about linking to the company that sells the filter?

Bought this machine and right out of the box it was not drawing the beans into the grinder.Tried calling the manufacture and all I got was we can return it for repair.

It''s only a day old.So I got on Amazon.com and looked at the reviews and see I am not the only one having this problem. So here is the fix.List off the cover to the bean bin and remove the mushroom cap inside the bean bin where the beans go into the grinder. This can be done by removing two little phillips screws and pulling the mushroom cap up and out of the bean bin.Save this piece just in case you would need warranty work for something else. Now there is no problem with beans feeding into the grinder. My guess is that it''s a safety thing so one would not reach in and put there fingers into the grinder.Hope this helps someone else.

I have used other automatic espresso machines and I find this Magnifica to be better for many reasons.

1) settings to control strength, temperature, coffee grind coarseness, auto-off time interval, and cup size

2) small footprint in terms of machine size

3) easy to access the water bin which can slide out partially and be filled while it is in place. Very nice feature considering you add water daily like you do with all machines.

4) machine auto-rinses. Some machines make this an option which is really about maintaining the machine.

5) perfect user interface. Easy to use

6) Great coffee.... Great coffee

7) Excellent frother. Many machines (Jura) don''t stack up

8) easy to clean! The brew unit comes out and it doesn''t require service at the factory. Look for this feature!

9) by-pass doser option. Many machines have this but not all machines in this price range

10) Decent price range and reputable company

11) Nice looks; It is a value blend of plastic and metal where needed. Sure it could be all metal but that would only drive up cost with little to no benefit.

I am happy with the purchase and I have had this for 4 months at this point.

I am guilty of not reviewing most of the products I buy on Amazon and some of the other websites but I decided to take the time to review this machine because I went through such a difficult time trying to get the best espresso machine without breaking my bank. I purchased this with these things that important to me: Time, ease of use, quality of the drink and again the most bang for the buck. Please keep in mind I have never tried to manually prepare espresso drinks myself but I have tried espresso from local mom and pops shops as well as the more known coffee shops here in New York.

Out of the box the machine is pretty straight forward and comes set for a standard espresso shot. The DVD is very helpful when trying to figure out this machine. It walks you through most of the functions. Depending on whether you will like your espresso shots really strong or not then you can play with the grinder settings and water settings. There are also settings to make the water hotter from the start to make the shot hotter. There is also automatic turn off and you can set this to your liking as well. Bypass doser for decaf, buttons will prepare one or two shots as well as two different settings for long coffee. For detailed videos I would check out Seattlecoffee Gear and youtube. They tell you not to use Dark Oily beans in the grinder because they can get stuck and clog it up. If you prefer the dark beans just try Lavazza or some good brand italian beans at your local espresso house. They can run you a pretty penny but for some its worth it.

I normally put the machine on before I get in the shower. When I come out I press the double shot to prepare my shots and wallah...it''s all done in a matter of 60 seconds. I usually drink cold drinks so I use cold milk but I have made several friends shots and they loved it. As far as the shots not being strong enough or not having enough crema, I really have to say that not one person complained about anything yet and I actually find the reg shots of espresso to be way to strong for my taste. This machine is great I love it and have made 2 or more drinks everyday since I got it a month ago. So far so good!

Bottom line, if you are always rushing to get to work, gym, and other places you have to be and you want that cup of espresso before you go this machine is for you. If you enjoy making espresso from scratch and controlling every single part of the process this ISNT for you. As far as quality of drinks I LOVE IT and others who I''ve made drinks for have said they loved it as well. If you can catch a steal with this machine at around $500 I would say most def GO FOR IT!

Did a lot of research for a good value replacement filter for our GE SmartWater GXWH35F whole house filter system. Works fine, but seems the water pressure is just a little less that with the original filter. Still think it is worth the price difference.

Clear2O CWF1034 Three Pack Water Pitcher Filters

Clear2O CWF1034 Three Pack Water Pitcher FiltersThis is a difficult product to rate because the filters seem to do a good job of filtering our drinking water but it''s hard to know when to change them. When we first started using them, we went by the color indicator on the top of the Applica Clear 2O Water Pitcher #CWS100A but it seemed like it turned red very quickly. So I started keeping track of each time we filled it. We use a lot of filtered water in our household (more than I would have thought before I started keeping track) because the tap water has an unpleasant chlorine taste. We use the filtered water for our drinking water, coffee and cooking as well as for the pet''s water dishes, so filling it 6 or 7 times a day isn''t unusual. According to their website and the Amazon product page they are supposed to filter 50 gallons or over 88 pitchers of water. The indicator turned completely red after 55 pitchers.

I kept using the same filter and tasted the water each time, comparing it to the tap water. The filter definitely produced a glass of water that had no chlorine taste, almost like distilled water. We used the same filter until we were up to 85 pitchers full and then changed it. I''ve found that by lifting the used filter out and pushing it back in, you can make the indicator go back to green for another (presumably) 55 pitchers of filtered water. I''m keeping track again this time around and will update this review if that changes. I plan to put a sticker of some sort on top of the pitcher then next time it turns red so I know it''s the second time around and to change it when it turns red again.

So why am I going through all this trouble to stick with this filtration system? Because the water tastes way better than any filtered water I''ve tried. We used Brita and Pur filters in the past that didn''t come close. This water tastes neutral, like a distilled water. Coffee and tea made with it tastes better. And the price of the filters is more reasonable than any others I''ve seen advertised and that''s a big factor for me.

Update 4/9/12 So here''s what we''re doing to keep track of the filters now. We wait until the filter indicator turns completely red (about 55 pitchers full) and then keep track by marking off the next 33 pitchers as we use them. It''s kind of a pain, but it''s become a habit. At least the water tastes good.

The product itself is fine. It took almost a month to get to me, though. I think that a wait of that amount is bad business.

A Placebo in My Opinion:

The individual boxed version of this replacement element misleads me.

The box writeup claims this filter element is NSF certified to reduce 53 contaminants.

FSN standards:

I learned that one(1) of seven FSN standards has been designated as number fifty three (53).

FSN #53 references the reduction of seven contaminants.

This filter element does not reduce 53 contaminants. It reduces the seven contaminants referenced in FSN standard #53.

Know this: FSN standard #42 pertains to reduction in chlorine taste and odor. Understand again "reduction" does not mean elimination. Taste and odor is often a personal opinion.

I disassembled my pitcher. There is a small mechanical water meter located just before the filter element. The Meter contains a disk banded with a green, yellow and red indicator. The indicator turns as the water passes through the meter and into the filter element. The disk will eventually turn enough to expose the red area indicator after about 88 gallons passes through the meter.

To reset the water meter to green and to begin an additional 88 gallons simply remove and reinstall the same filter. The usage indicator can be reset as often as you dare. You are only fooling yourself. The meter is mechanically reset each time the filter is turned as if it were replaced. Reset the indicator meter after each pitcher refill for possible endless results and satisfaction. In my opinion these filters are over priced and labeled with misleading claims. They filter the water, but don''t take out the calcium, (I''m assuming).

We have pretty horrible water where I live. But these filters have always preformed like a champ.

What I am concerned about are the floaties and the taste of the water. It takes care of both.

KX Technologies PLEKX-10-10 PlekX Whole House Filter Replacement Cartridge

KX Technologies PLEKX-10-10 PlekX Whole House Filter Replacement CartridgeI have been using KX carbon filters for years now. Why not use KX for the sediment filters too? I already used it since last time and this is a direct replacement. This one is harder to find but worth the effort.

When I changed filters after a couple of years (my bad, bad economy and no time), all the KX filters are still very solid in one piece. That''s why I use them.

I agree somewhat that if you have a good city water supply, the water aren''t that dirty and you are better off directing your resources to filter out chlorine and fluoride (whether you want it or not).

This is a sediment filter plus carbon for chlorine filtering. Of course I still have two other carbon filters.

The filter comes with manufacturers'' labels and KX mark moulded into the filter. It should be noted that the specifications are tested by the manufacturer. It''s an honorary system but I wouldn''t worry too much about it. If my TDS readings are consistently good, the membrane is working fine and the filters doing their job.

Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG5-001 Single Serve Coffee Brewer Save 1% Off

Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG5-001 Single Serve Coffee Brewer Powered by Keurig Brewing Technology, BlackPROS:

Great entry level machine for K-Cups

Excellent value for the dollar

Brews a cup of coffee that is as good as the competition

Easy to use

No assembly required

Convenient

CONS:

Lightweight construction

Few bells and whistles

Only two serving sizes (6 and 10 ounces)

Short cord

Small water reservoir without filter option

Coffee brewed this way is pricey (but you knew that!)

A newer Keurig system is on its way (the Keurig Vue) that uses a different K-Cup

The Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG5-001 Single Serve Coffee Brewer is a basic, single serve Keurig Cup coffee brewer that will certainly do the job. An entry level K-Cup brewing machine, without any added whistles and bells, it will still brew a fine cup of coffee.

Please note, I am comparing this brewer to the Cuisinart SS-700 system (Cuisinart SS-700 Single Serve Brewing System, Silver Powered by Keurig). I also have experience with two large, Keurig brewing systems that are used in my office.

[NOTE: Go to end of the review for an update about the latest Keurig technology.]

WHAT''S IN THE BOX

The Mr. Coffee machine comes fully assembled right out of the box. All you need to do is fill the reservoir with water and place easily on the top of the machine. At the base of the machine there is a removable drip tray. Plug it in and you''re ready. It even comes with 5 sample K-Cups to start you off.

THE MACHINE BUILD

The machine itself is made out of lightweight plastic. You don''t get the sense that it is flimsy, but it isn''t as robust as the Cuisinart SS-700 which has a lot more heft and will definitely stay put on your kitchen counter. This is doubly true for the lift handle and brew head of the Mr. Coffee (the thing you lift up so that you can put the K-cup inside the machine). The plastic here is thin and will definitely not hold up to abuse. This makes this more suitable as a home machine than it does for use in a small office, where the machine would likely take more of a beating. The lighter construction does not affect the taste of the coffee at all and is probably a cost cutting measure. (At the time of writing this, the Cuisinart model costs more than twice of what is being charged for the Mr. Coffee model.) However, it may mean that the Mr. Coffee machine may not have quite the longevity of the Cuisinart.

A number of cost saving measures were taken to keep the price down. Options for coffee are limited. Servings come in only two sizes: 6 and 10 ounces. (The Cuisinart has 5 sizes between 4 and 12 ounces.) There is no LCD display and there are no strength settings for the coffee. There is no option for a filter within the fluid reservoir (another Cuisinart feature) and there is no special indicator that the fluid level is too low other than a blinking light around the ''Brew Now'' button. (The Cuisinart flashes and LCD message.) The reservoir itself is rather small--about 40 ounces--so it will only brew about four 10 ounce cups before you have to refill it. Also missing is a cool light that trans-illuminates the fluid reservoir when it is too low. The most frustrating low-end feature is that the cord is very short, meaning that your Mr. Coffee machine has to be within about a foot of an outlet.

TASTE OF THE COFFEE

Still, none of this seems to matter when it comes to the taste of the coffee. It would be nice to have an 8 ounce setting, but it isn''t really necessary. In my opinion, at sizes above 10 ounces the coffee is just too weak, so larger sizes aren''t all that useful when using K-Cups. Those who like stronger coffee tend to use two K-Cups per cup of coffee on a four or six ounce setting to get that motor oil consistency that they so love. I have never noticed any difference in using a Keurig systems that allow you to change brew strength. The determining factor for the strength of the coffee seems to be limited by the physics of the K-Cup itself. Blinking lights and fancy indicators are fun, but are hardly necessary in such a simple machine.

BREWING COFFEE

For those not in the know, to brew the coffee you lift the brew head by the handle, place the K-Cup in the well, and close the apparatus. You select the serving size and then hit the ''Brew Now'' button. The water is heated and the coffee is brewed quickly (about 3 minutes). The tiny reservoir only holds about 24 ounces of water, meaning that you will refill it frequently. If your cup is shallow (think tea cup) there will be a little, initial splashing as the coffee shoots out the bottom.

Just so you know, K-Cups are not necessarily the best way to brew coffee. I prefer using a French Press to get the most out of the bean. (Yeah. I know. I''m a coffee snob.) And if I want to brew a quick pot of coffee that still tastes better than one from a K-Cup, a standard, drip coffee maker does just fine, thank you.

But you can''t beat the K-Cup for convenience. K-Cups produce a far better coffee than any instant I''ve tasted (including that fancy Starbucks VIA stuff) and it is the best kind of coffee you can make on the go without any fuss or muss. It''s far faster than a French Press, less finicky, and easier to clean up. It doesn''t take the prep needed for drip coffee or take all that time. And if you have a family where everyone has a variety of tastes, K-Cups allow everyone to stock their favorite flavor.

ECOFRIENDLY AND ECONOMICAL K-CUPPING

If you want to keep things more environmentally sound, there are a number of solutions available for reusable inserts that work just like the K-Cups but that can be filled with your favorite coffee. This way you don''t have to increase the number of used K-Cups that are taking over our landfills today. This may take away some of the convenience factor but is still far faster than other methods to brew coffee.

A reusable Keurig Cup also decreases the expense of the K-Cups. A pound of coffee yields somewhere around 72 ten-ounce cups of coffee. On Amazon (on the day of the writing of this review), you can purchase three pounds of Starbucks Cafe Verona blend for $23.97(Starbucks Caffe Verona Coffee, Dark, Ground, 12-Ounce Bags (Pack of 3)). That''s about 15 cents per cup of coffee at today''s prices. The same coffee in a K-cup will cost you about 91 cents when bought in bulk(Starbucks Caffe Verona, Dark, 54-Count)--about 6 times the cost. [Note: I corrected my math; thanks to J. Hopkins for reading the review and catching my error.] That''s quite a mark up for the convenience factor. The lowest price I could find on Amazon is about 60 cents per K-Cup. Even if you pay up to $20 a pound for a really high end brew, that means you''d still only pay around 28 cents per cup of coffee. This shows you how the K-Cup is good for brewer manufacturers (we will pay a premium for the convenience of the machines) and the coffee roasters themselves (we''ll pay a lot more for a cup of coffee). The reusable K-Cup will significantly decrease the cost of a cup of coffee. If you buy the excellent ekobrew Cup, refillable filter for Keurig Brewers, Brown, 1-Count at today''s price of $11.49, you will make good on your investment after brewing just 15 cups of Cafe Verona or 23 cups of the cheaper brand when compared to the 60 cent K-Cups varieties. That''s an incredible savings. [NOTE: The Ekobrew will work in this model, but you have to pull down on the handle after you close until it clicks. Keurig''s own Keurig Alternative My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter works, but it comes in three pieces (insert, filter basket, and screw-on top) and--given 3 parts--is more difficult to clean. It also requires that you snap out the insert on the brew head, which means you would have to replace the insert if you want to use a disposable K-Cup]

So this Mr. Coffee model will get you in at the Keurig ground floor (no pun intended). Not the fanciest model--no bells and whistles--but it will get the job done. And, quite frankly, it brews as good a cup of coffee as the far more expensive Cuisinart or those big commercial, Keurig models out there. Thumbs up on this one.

[UPDATE: As an interesting aside, Keurig is coming out with the Keurig Vue system. It uses different K-Cups than conventional machines and the promise is a more regulated cup of coffee. The Vue machine supposedly will more carefully regulate inflow and outflow of a new, specially designed K-Cup that will allow for better control of temperature and pressure within the K-Cup. This apparently will allow for brewing up to 18 ounces of good strength coffee and also allow for brewing iced beverages.

My guess is that this system is meant to compete with Starbuck''s Verismo brewing system that is still due to come out. It will also allow Keurig to compete with the Tassimo, Flavia, and Senseo systems which are newer and in some respects more sophisticated, with better individualized temperature/pressure controls for a more individualized cup of coffee. (The Tassimo and Flavia systems can also brew drinks that have frothed milk on top.)

That being said, all this new technology will likely come with an added price (the machine + the new and improved K-Cups). The old Keurig system brews fine coffee already and Keurig still has the best selection of K-Cups from different coffee vendors. I''ve tried some of the other systems and--in spite of ''superior'' technology have not noted any significant improvements over the simple Keurig system like the one used in this Mr. Coffee machine.]

Update, one month later:

After testing the Mr. Coffee Single Serve Coffee Brewer myself for a while at home, I sent it to work with my husband. And he''s not too terribly happy with it. He reports back that the device works fine if you choose the small cup size. (Go figure: that''s the size I always used!) When he selects the large cup size, the water flows inside the coffee maker right into the drip tray about half the time. The other half of the time, he receives only about half a cup of coffee.

I''m not sure what to make of this. I''d call user error, but my husband is a serious coffee-phile (and gearhead) and can operate any kind of coffee brewing/grinding/whathaveyou equipment with ease. He does admit to having turned the device off prematurely a couple of times, but I''m not convinced that this could cause his issues.

Given this trouble, I''m revising my review from four to TWO stars and slapping an "approach with caution" sign on it. If you''re looking for a Keurig-style device, it''s probably best to spend the money and buy a Keurig.

Original Review:

The Mr. Coffee Single Serve Coffee Brewer is a slightly less expensive alternative to the popular Keurig coffee maker. This product suits the Mr. Coffee name perfectly. It is not sleek or sexy; it has no bells or whistles; in fact, it''s downright utilitarian. But it gets the job done and brews a pretty good little cup of coffee nevertheless.

This coffee maker comes out of the box just about ready to go. Take off a couple of plastic bags, peel off a piece of tape or two, wash out and fill the water reservoir, and you''re just a couple of minutes away from a cup of coffee. The controls are basic, and I liked the fact that I did not have to fiddle with anything digital or computerized or possibly smarter than I am.

My negative impressions are as follows:

--The machine itself is square and clunky looking. Not really something that I want sitting out on my kitchen counter all the time. It looks like...a Mr. Coffee.

--The water reservoir is awkward and chunky. Unless you fill it in place with a pitcher or bottle of water, then spillage is a definite possibility, because you need to use two hands to keep it level.

--The actual brewing process is not as fast as my Keurig, so those of us with issues with impatience may chafe at the extra few seconds we have to wait until we have our coffee.

Positive notes:

--This machine makes a nice cup of coffee. It comes out at an excellent and drinkable temperature.

--The small cup selection makes strong coffee, which is the way I like it.

--Unlike the Keurig, the Mr. Coffee does not leave coffee grinds in the bottom of my coffee cup. I like not having to chew my cup of coffee in the morning.

The Mr. Coffee has a slightly different brewing protocol than a Keurig, heating the water and brewing the coffee at one press of a button. If you treat it like a Keurig, you''ll have a drip tray full of coffee and nothing in your cup. So be sure to read the instructions before you brew your first cup, especially if you have used a Keurig brewer in the past.

This coffee maker comes with a little 5-cup sampler pack of K-Cups. This is a very nice touch, because it means you can brew a cup of coffee as soon as you pull the device out of the box. But remember, the coffee that the Mr. Coffee brews is only as good as the K-Cup you put in to it. Since I''m a terrible coffee snob (probably a result of living in Seattle for so long), the only one of the sample cups that was palatable to me was the Newman''s. My advice: toss out the samples and buy yourself some Starbucks or Tully''s!

Overall, this is a decent enough coffee maker. Not pretty and not fancy but definitely adequate. I think that it''s worth the price.

I''m trying to put together a video review, but I''d like to share my thoughts until I get that done. This is my third Keurig machine (the previous two still work fine, btw), and I''ve been using K-Cup brewers at home for over five years. In short, I think that this is a good choice in the ~$80 range, but you might want to spend just a little bit more to get a few more features (or spend the same and get different ones). I''ll start with a short overview of the options out there that might help you decide if this machine has what you want, and then I''ll discuss my opinions of this machine in particular.

UP FRONT SUMMARY -

This is a capable machine that offers an external water reservoir and two cup sizes, is very simple to use, brews a cup in about four minutes, but feels just a little cheap because of the plastic parts. For a little more money (depending on sales), you can step up to a machine with an internal heated reservoir that will brew faster and likely hold more water in the external reservoir.

PRIMARY CATEGORIES OF K-CUP BREWERS -

There are two primary categories of K-Cup brewers:

1. Machines that have an internal water reservoir that will keep water hot and ready for brewing whenever the machine is on

2. Machines that have no internal water reservoir that heat water only after you press the "brew" button

This Mr. Coffee fits into the second category, but it does stand out from the others that I''ve seen available because of the external reservoir. Machines with an internal water reservoir also have an external reservoir (of various sizes depending on the machine) to store extra water. Machines with no internal reservoir typically require that the water be added before each cup (at least that I''ve seen). So, while this machine heats the water before eat cup, it does allow you to store multiple cups worth of water in the reservoir.

Some things to consider when choosing between these categories:

Machines with an internal heated reservoir will make coffee faster (~ one minute per cup) than those that must heat the water before each cup but only if you have it on already, as it takes a little time to heat up the internal water supply if the machine was off. I typically only have my Breville BKC700XL on in the morning, and then I shut it off after my last cup. This Mr. Coffee takes about four minutes to make a 10-ounce cup, which is actually a bit less time than it takes to get my first cup from the Breville because it has to heat up the internal water. If I make two cups, though, the Breville wins hands down.

Machines without an internal reservoir (or external reservoir) can be more compact. This Mr. Coffee, though, is only a little smaller than my Breville.

Machines with an internal heated reservoir cannot be drained without disassembly (at least the ones that I''ve seen), which is something to consider when moving and/or storing them.

FEATURES TO CONSIDER WHEN SHOPPING -

Every machine is going to be at least a bit different to stand out, but here are some main features that vary from machine to machine that I can think of:

Internal heated reservoir, which results in faster brew times, compared to no internal reservoir.

External water reservoir, which means that you don''t have to add water for every cup of coffee, compared to fill-each-time.

Number of available cup sizes. Some have only one, some have up to five. Some coffees are stronger than others, so it can be nice to have a choice of how much water is used.

Pump noise (as far as I know, this only applies to machines with external reservoirs). Some, like my Breville, are very quiet. Some are louder.

Construction materials. I think that reviews are the best source for determining reliability, because regardless of how sturdy something looks on the outside, reliability on these machines seems to be a big function of the internal mechanisms such as the pump or electronics. That said, you can judge how sturdy you think the external materials are and if they''d hold up to you, your kids, or your office mates.

Drip tray cover material some are metal, some are plastic. I mention this in particular because you set your cup on this every time that you use it, so it will get impacted a lot over the years. Metal is more durable, but plastic tends to be a bit quieter when you set your cup on it.

Aesthetics. Of course, only you can decide on this, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

THIS MACHINE IN PARTICULAR -

Overall, this really is a pretty good machine. That wasn''t my first impression, but it has definitely grown on me. When I first unpacked it, I admit that I wasn''t very impressed. I used a Keurig B70 Platinum for about three years, and then switched to a Breville BKC700XL that I''ve used for over two and a half years. So, I''m used to a certain build quality. This machine uses a lot more plastic and just feels cheaper, leaving me disappointed initially but it is also less expensive, so I should have expected it. Also, when I first started using it, I didn''t like how it operated but I soon realized that was just because it worked a bit differently than what I was used to.

After using it for a couple of days (and now over two weeks), my disappointment changed to appreciation once I got used to how it worked and also began to like how the plastic drip tray was quieter. The lack of options (like a clock, on/off settings, brew temperature, and so on), make this very simple to set up and start brewing...pretty much just plug it in, add water, put in a K-Cup, place your cup, select cup size (if the one lit up isn''t what you want), push brew button, wait about four minutes, and enjoy!

Here are some things that I like and that I think make it worthy of consideration in this price range:

It has an external water reservoir, which I like because I don''t need to pour in water for every cup. I can fill it once and be set for two cups in the morning.

It brews two cups sizes (6 and 10 ounces).

The machine is extremely quiet while drawing water from the reservoir. I''m guessing that it just opens a valve and lets gravity feed in the water, because I can''t hear a pump at all. It is also pretty quiet while heating the water.

There are some things that I don''t love about this machine:

The feel of the plastic lid to the K-Cup holder (when opening and closing) and drip tray are pretty cheap to me. That doesn''t mean that they are weak and prone to failure, but it does make me wonder how long this will last, as those two items that get a lot of physical use and it also makes me wonder about the quality of internal hardware. So far, though, it''s worked great.

After a cup is brewed, the machine will continue to somewhat loudly blow air through the K-Cup for about a minute to dry it out. This can be easily cancelled by pressing the brew button, but when my hands are busy, I find it a little annoying. That''s because this is the first machine of mine that has ever done that, and I don''t see the point in it.

When the lid is opened, the K-Cup holder doesn''t swivel forward like on other machines that I''ve used or seen in the stores. I''ve gotten used to it, but it is easier for me to put in and remove K-Cups when they are angled towards me like on my other machines.

The external reservoir isn''t lighted, so it can be a little difficult to tell how much water is in it because it''s shaded by my cabinets.

So, overall, a pretty nice machine and I''m happy that I was given the opportunity to try it. Personally, I like the machines with an internal reservoir that brew faster and that have larger water reservoirs. For me, it would be worth the money to get those features for a home brewer, but this might be perfect for a college student or the occasional cup at work.

I bought this for my wife for her birthday so that she could enjoy quick, easy coffee in the morning and on weekends. It is every bit as good as a Keurig as far as brewing quality and works with the Keurig My K-Cup accessory. The only criticism I have is the official Keruig brewers that I have used heat the water as soon as you power them on and then reheat the next batch of water as soon as the current cup has finished brewing so that there is very little if any lag between one cup and the next one. This brewer heats the water when you start brewing so there is a few minute wait between pushing the button to brew a cup and actually getting the cup. This is pretty small, but we do miss the immediacy in brewing of the Keurig-branded machines.

I would also like to comment on others'' notes that the reservoir for the water is smaller than similarly-sized k-cup brewers so it is very important that you remember to keep it full. I just fill my mug with water and pour that water in before starting the brewing, doesn''t bother me at all.

TL;DR This is an excellent product that we are very happy with, the Keurig brewers are nicer but cost considerably more.

My video says it all. This thing is in some ways a disappointment, but I''m not going to knock it because I don''t know how it compares to high-end Keurig machines. For one, it only holds 3 1/2 cups of water. Secondly, this thing takes up a lot of counter space, and I don''t know what 80% of this machine is being used for the reservoir is only 24 oz, but the device looks like it an hold 64 plus it is loud for about 90 seconds while the pump is on. Finally, the fact that it has a "travel mug" setting, which only spits out 1 cup of coffee is surprising to me. Again, I''m not going to knock it because I don''t know how most people expect these machines to work, but I don''t know who''s travel mug only holds 1 cup of coffee. It specifically says it makes 6-ounces or 10-ounces. I just filled a regular coffee mug, it holds 8 oz comfortably. My travel mug holds 20 oz comfortably. 6oz is too small for a coffee mug. 10oz is to big for a coffee mug, but way too small for a travel mug. IMO, they have the sizes all wrong. I think the reservoir is too small, and that the size options are off-target.

Other than that, I can''t complain. I am not a normal coffee drinker. I drink it maybe once a month. This device ensures I don''t make more than I need, plus it is quick and I don''t need to measure out the coffee grounds into a filter. Just pop the k-cup in and 3 minutes later I have steaming hot coffee. I can always run 2 10oz cycles if I want to completely fill my travel mug!

Austin Air HEGA (Allergy Machine) Jr Replacement Filter

Austin Air HEGA Jr Replacement Filter w/ Prefilter - SandstoneI purchased a pre-owned Health Mate Plus Jr. from eBay. The unit had the more expensive Superblend filter in it, but was about 6 years old. A rep at Austin recommended this HEGA filter for my application (cigarette smoke) versus the more expensive Superblend. I really appreciated her integrity in not just pointing me to the most expensive filter to get the $$$.

This filter/unit work great. I am very pleased with its performance.

Essick Air EP9500 Whole House Humidifier Save 8% Off

Essick Air EP9500 Whole House Humidifier With Refill IndicationIt is plastic, but it looks good, and is much better looking than competitive models. It is also very quiet on the 1 setting, and puts out a lot of moisture and the 9 setting, and can be set anywhere in between.

the major drawback is that there is no way to tell how much water is in the reservoir. The unit holds 3.5 gallons, so when it is empty, I add 3 gallons. I have to wait until it is empty to fill it (which can happen anytime) when I am not around, there is no easy way to top it off in the evening.

I purchased this humidifier for a library, which is primarily dark woods and the white 821-000 model which is a very good unit stood out like a sore thumb. Fortunately, both units take the #1043 replacement wick. The pictures I saw of the product depict a rather rich looking appearance, but in the flesh its not so impressive. The fill level is somewhat confusing. Its a 1" plate saying max fill. Fill to the bottom/middle/top of the plate? Nothing in the manual on the subject. Filling it is a pain with a little door that makes pouring in water a precision operation to avoid spills. In addition, I needed a flashlight to see the water level to prevent overfilling. I have 2 of the 821-000 models and they are much easier to use. They should make a dark colored version of it where white is not a good option. I have also found that filling the units with filtered water greatly extends filter life and efficiency. Otherwise, if the water used has a high mineral content it will turn the filter into a cinder block in short order.

Reading the reviews of this product, I was hesitant to purchase it, but comparing the other humidifiers on this site, I couldn''t find one that was any better. That being said, I was afraid to buy it on line in case it needed to be returned so I purchased it locally. A couple of comments regarding it performance:

Noise: Sounds like a pedestal fan, or box fan, really not that big of a deal for us. After a couple hours you forget that its actualy there. There are about 10 fan levels, you realy don''t need that many, but it is nice to turn it down, if your listening to a movie, and then pump it up when you need the extra moisture.

Filling the tank: The one feature I really like is that you just pop open a small door, and using a pitcher, fill it up, it holds 3 gallons. With our wood stove running non stop, and the humidifier set on medium to high fan level, we go through about 3 gallons every 24 hours, and it keeps the main living floor at 45 to 50 percent humidity.

The unit keeps our 1700 sqft, 2 story house comfortable, we keep it by the stairs, so that the natural draft distributes the mositur evenly.

One complaint, I wish it had a water level window, you don''t know its full untill water is running on the floor, so we just put a gallon in it in the morning, and one at night, or just wait till it runs out completly.

The remote control is usefull, but not nessecary. It is nice to see the humidity is on the other side of the room, not just right at the machine.

The tile top is extremely fragile, be carefull.

The plastic consol is just that plastic, not bad, but not great, though since it is a pedestal, it is not very obtrusive.

We;ve been running it for 2 months now on well water and np problems, the wick still works and it does a good job. The concept is simple, a fan blowing across a large wick, like an auto air filter. Its not flashy, but it does it job.

This unit looks nice and that is where the value ends. The door in the front pulls down for you to fill the unit, unfortunetly there is no gauge as to how much water is needed. Fill it to high and the unit overflows, and stops working. The only way to determine how much water is needed is to take teh full lid off. In addittion witht he way the fill door is set, there is a high probablility the water will spill out as you lift the fill container (one you use) higher. Looks nice and that is it.

Now the unit I do recomend for one from the same company that is easy to fill and runs for a long time is the Essick Air 4D7 300 Whole-House Console-Style Evaporative Humidifier. I purchased both of them and this one is much easier to work with. It has two large fill tanks that last a long time (depending on how dry your place is) comes with a hose that mkaes it easy till fill, water is in sealed container as you move it from fill source to unit. Bigger and not as nice looking at the EP9500 but a better choice.

This humidifier is a good size if you''re looking for a whole house humidifier with a small footprint. It appears to have a woodgrain look in the photos, but it doesn''t. It''s just brown plastic...really cheap looking brown plastic. Having said that, it is slightly more attractive than the gray plastic humidifiers and does blend in a little better than one of those. The granite tile for the top is an actual (relatively thick) granite tile, which was surprising to me. Honestly, I think it makes the plastic look even cheaper by comparison though. I do give them props for putting it on rolling casters. It''s really easy to shove into a closet if you''re having company and don''t want to look at an ugly appliance.

I''ve only had this for about a week now, but it seems to do the job fairly well. The air doesn''t seem quite as chilly since I''ve been humidifying it; which is why I wanted a large humidifier. You can set the desired humidity and the system will turn itself on and off to maintain that. You can also adjust the fan speed at 9 levels. It is fairly loud even at the lowest speed, but not overly distracting.

EDIT 1-21-2012: The humidity sensor on this thing is useless. Sometimes it will come on for about 10 seconds, then shut off and do that continually. It loses a star for that as this feature doesn''t seem to work correctly. I just turn it all the way up when I want to humidify and off when I don''t.

Others have commented on the fill door being useless and I have to agree. You can use it, but unless you take the top piece off, there is absolutely no way of knowing how full the tank is. I find it easier to just open it up to fill it rather than guess and risk an overflow. The top piece pulls right off, so this isn''t much of a hardship.

I keep my reviews up to date and will share additional comments, good or bad, if my experience with this appliance changes.

Sunbeam Ultrasonic Visible Mist Humidifier

Sunbeam Ultrasonic Visible Mist HumidifierBought this last year & we only used it 3-4x, for a total of maybe 16 hours of use. It worked great & we had no complaints. Dried it & stored it according to instructions & brought it out this year. After the initial use of about 2 hours it stopped creating mist. Turn to the instruction "leaflet" that was included with it when we bought it and the only "solutions" for the humidifier not creating mist were: 1. It ran out of water; refill the tank -OR2. It''s not plugged in, or it is plugged in but isn''t turned on high enough. Thanks, but I''m not an idiot, so it was plugged in, filled with cool water & turned on HIGH and still no mist. Tried cleaning it thoroughlyeven though it wasn''t really dirty and made no difference. A vast waste of money & I will certainly check reviews before purchasing my next humidifier. Thought we could just pick up any one because we don''t use it often, but clearly I was wrong.

I mostly concur with all the points made by the brimar''s review. If you know what to expect from an ultrasonic humidifier, this one does the job adequately. However, to add or highlight a few points:

-if you set the unit on high, it will easily put out more vapor than it can disperse into the air, which will result in soaking the surfaces in front of the humidifier (not a problem unique to this humidifier).

-it lacks a humidistat. (That''s a dial like a thermostat that automatically turns off the mist output when the desired level of humidity is reached.) You can find other humidifiers in this same price range that include this feature.

-the tank is very tall, and you fill it from the bottom, so don''t be surprised if you end up having to fill it in your bathtub. (This is also a problem many current humidifier models suffer from. Most have awkwardly shaped tanks that either don''t fit under a typical bathroom sink tap and/or don''t balance when turned upside down.)

In summary, this unit has some of the same flaws seen in many current humidifiers, making it average.

This is a good humidifier, not great. I''ll keep this simple:

Pros:

-Large enough tank so you don''t have to refill often, once every couple days if you run it for 3-5 hours in the evening

-Very quiet, can''t hear the fan but you can hear the bubbler (ultrasonic metal disk in the bottom)

-Doesn''t require filter

Cons:

-If the water runs out, the ultrasonic disk will get VERY hot (trust me, I touched it) and mine didn''t shut off automatically -Now it only puts out half as much vapor

-Blower isn''t large enough, the bubbler puts more vapor than the fan can blow, so the water vapor will get your floor soaked if you turn it on high

-approximately $40, too much. should cost about 20-30.

I bought this after going thru many filters on other humidifiers. Thought it was a good idea, wrong. Worked well for the first few days, now no mist. I have cleaned it did everything the instruction manual, another big joke, suggested to do. So now I have this thing that doesn''t do anything but make noise. Next time I''ll spend the money and get filters.

SCM2412-UM Humidifier

SCM2412-UM HumidifierI bought it at jardenstore.com for $16 when it was on saleThe nightmare just began when I received it. I tried to test it overnight with full tank.

And I made sure no excess water in base (common issue for Sunbeam). I also set the humidistat to max.

The next morning the water was still the same level.

While the fan was running loud, louder than refrigerator or microwave or my ceiling fan, there was no mist emitting at all.

Next chapter: call customer service.

1. tried their published number in Instruction Leaflet 888-264-9669, nobody answered

2. called their Jarden company customer service and after lots of options, a human answered and asked me to call number in step 1

3. still nobody answered; and all 800# published online for humidifier are no-answer

4. sent an email through website and so far nobody answered

If you want to throw your money down the drain and feel like an idiot like me, buy Sunbeam, or any of Jarden''s product.

Jarden is a shame, a sham, a disgusting criminal. (I''m refraining myself from using worse words publically)

My friend gave this as a baby shower gift. I wanted one of these just to keep the air clean and keep the moisture throughout the room all on pair for our child.

Pros: It is not very loud, on a scale of 0-10, it is about a 3.

Cons: Uses paper filters, tank cannot be cleaned and becomes slimy and the biggest problem, the humidifier is a breeding ground for black mold to grow.

The biggest and most harmful part of this humidifier is the cheap paper filters and the inside compartment. After you remove the tank, your notice two screws, after turning these, your remove the top part that contains the fan and your be left with the bottom half. This part is gray in colour and holds two paper filters and a water compartment chamber. This compartment stays wet. For example, Sunday you fill the tank with water, turn on the humidifier and by Friday, when it is time to refill the tank, the bottom compartment will be filled with black mold. This is a serious health concern for children and adults. You do not want a product that can breed stachybotrys (toxic black mold) in your child''s room.

I''ve had this 3 weeks now, purchased directly from Jarden on sale. For the price (about a couple movie tickets and popcorn) it''s a good investment. Note that this is an evaporative type humidifier so it will work a bit better when the ambient temperature is higher eg summer.

Initially I started it up and ran it overnight and there seemed to be no drop in water level ie no humidification. I called Customer Service. A short wait (the ubiquitous phone tree), then my call was answered and a very sympathetic rep suggested several things to try. She added that if I couldn''t get it to work properly the unit might be defective and she would be happy to exchange it for a new one. The main remedy was to make sure the wick was properly wetted (she suggested soaking it, then placing it back into the unit). This I did. Not sure it really helped. But then I noticed an air pocket that forms at the bottom of the reservoir. I dislodged the bubble by tilting the unit slightly. From then on the unit has been working exactly as advertised.

Pros:

1) The unit works as advertised;

2) Customer Service is available and tries hard to help;

3) Tank doesn''t leak & is easy to fill, filter easily accessible;

4) Inexpensive unit (when on sale).

Cons:

1) As an evaporative unit (ie it wicks water onto a "filter" over which a fan then blows) it is best only for a small room;

2) If you are used to a pretty quiet room then the fans will provide an omnipresent humming that can be annoying. As there are two speeds this can be minimized but not eliminated. Myself, I don''t sleep in the same room with this (or any) humidifier.

I use this in a room in which I have several stringed instruments (acoustic guitars and a violin). When I practice, the humming is bothersome and I have to turn the unit off.

Bottom line: Not a bad little unit if on sale.

UPDATE (Jan 2012): Unit still runs fine. BUT, the filters don''t last and are expensive to replace a problem that seems to characterize all such "cool mist" evaporative humidifiers. If buying again, I would go the warm mist route instead.

Got product worked wonderfully for 4 days...then we refilled the tank...which we had done numerous times, only to have it no longer send out any mist.we then cleaned out the tank and the base..even used vinegar as recommended. It still wont work its as if the filter quit drawing the water up...We have ordered new filters which cost almost $30 (this includes the shipping and handling charges). We hope the new filters will help.otherwise thats $70 down the drain.I do not reccommend this product. If you can afford to buy new filters every 4 days go right ahead.you should not have this kind of a problem this soon...!!!!

I too bought this on sale at jardenstore.com for $16. From what I can tell, this type of humidifier is the evaporating kind as apposed to vaporization, so you don''t actually see mist coming out of it. The water level disappears in the appropriate time frame and the automatic shutoff engages when the proper humidity level is reached, so I guess that means it''s working. I have this running on high and a box fan on low and I can barely hear the humidifier.

I''m disappointed to find out from another reviewer that support is lacking. Even general documentation of how this thing is supposed to work is hard to find. Hopefully mine keeps working... so far I''m three nights in. I''ll be sure to update should it die sooner than later.

When first installed, it worked beautifully. After a month or so, the flow slowed dramatically. This was not the case with a GE filter that we used previously. We have rinsed the filter and checked the water line, the problem is the filter.
