New Wave Enviro Premium 10 Stage Filter Replacement Cartridge Save 34% Off

New Wave Enviro Premium 10 Stage Filter Replacement Cartridge
  • Replacement filter for New Wave''s water filter system produces continuous supply of fresh, crisp, wonderful-tasting water from the tap
  • Removes major contaminants to below EPA minimum levels
  • Easily replaced filter produces approximately 1,500 gallons of water before it needs replacing, or enough to last one year for a family of four
  • Once water has been filtered, inert and desirable minerals like magnesium, potassium, chlorides, and fluoride are left behind
  • Includes 30-day money-back guarantee and limited one-year manufacturer''s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship

If you have a New Wave Enviro housing, this is a replacement filter that will work for it. I used to buy replacement filters for mine at Wh*le F**ds, but they stopped carrying them. I wasn''t sure if this would work for me, but I gave it a shot, and it fits perfectly.

My city water is clean, but I don''t like the taste of it. This filter makes it taste like the finest purified spring water. That''s what I want, and that''s what this product delivers.

That is to say that I''m interested mainly in TASTE. If you''re picky/concerned enough about water quality from a chemical content perspective to desire certification on a filter, than maybe you''d like to pay $500 for something like this: Multi-Pure Countertop Water Filter Certified for Arsenic Reduction!. While it''s nice to know that such products exist, $60 covers my concerns just fine. If I want to get it done, I think my city offers in-home water quality testing yours might too. (This is in reference to a reviewer who, I think unfairly, gives this filter one star for not being something that it doesn''t claim to be.)

Bugs me when people give misleading negative reviews because they want a product to be different from what it is.

This filter is wicked expensive, but you get a lot of pros for that con. It is supposed to take out a lot of crap and how do I know? The water tastes noticeably better, though (this is Cincinnati water I''m drinking; if I was back in Portland, Maine I wouldn''t bother with a filter), so it must be doing something. It''s best feature for me, however, besides the filtering power which it boasts as being top-notch is its usability. You hook the thing up to your facet and it shoots out better tasting and supposedly healthier water about as fast as the facet itself. Yeah, and consider that one of these wallet-busting replacement filters lasts three or four times longer than their brita counterparts. Add to that this one''s usability, and you''ve got a soundish investment.

This product is the one of choice by what is likely one of the most health conscious and toughest critics...health nuts.

I first saw the product at the main food co-op in Atlanta, and then saw it at the neighborhood health food store and other similar locations. Their selection criteria for products is very high.

I''ve been satisfied with the taste and cleanliness of the water. We''ve been using it for over a year (replacing every 12 months), and love it.

We''ve been using the New Wave Enviro filter for over ten years. This filter has adequate media to provide good filtration of a number of types of contaminants. The New Enviro website has (now quite old) test data confirming removal rates for some contaminants. The replacement filter is sold at a good price on Amazon, much less expensive than at the local Whole Foods. It gets 4 stars instead of 5 because it''s hard to open the housing to replace the filter and because the product isn''t NSF-certified. Certainly New Wave has sold enough units by now to be able to afford product certification.

It might be the placebo effect of the expectations after coughing up a considerable sum for what amounts to nothing more than a filter replacement cartridge. Nevertheless, the water does taste good.

Whirlpool WHED20 Undersink Water Filtration System

Whirlpool WHED20 Undersink Water Filtration SystemI have had this for some time, replaced the filters twice. After replacing the filters the second time, it started to leak where the number one filter connects to the bracket. Didn''t notice it until it ruined the floorboards of my kitchen cabinet and soaked underneath. It will be a mess to clean up. I saw another reviewer with the same problem. A very expensive mess, and costly replacement of the bracket. Get something better quality.

PS: After considering my options, either buy replacement parts, or get something different, I decided to try a Zero water filter. I got one for less then the cost of replacement filters.

I had purchased the whirlpool filter so I wouldn''t have to continue buying bottled water for coffee. After I got My zero water, I tested my tap water: 355. i tested the water out of the filter: 333. Bottled water is supposed to be in the low teens. Zero water tested 000. So, after all of the expense to get water that is of the same quality as bottled, I now find that it was a complete waste of money, it didn''t do squat. No wonder my coffee maker was still getting plugged with crap and had to be cleaned so often. Education is expensive. If you want good quality water for coffee, the Whirlpool won''t give it to you.

don''t waste your money on this product.....very poor quality.....after only the 3rd filter change, the unit cracked and leaked. Company said I probably overtightened the filter....I assure you that did not happen. Thin plastic and poor design!!

I had the same issue as other reviewers. I replaced the main unit twice when it leaked after replacing the cartridges 2 time each only.

It is leaking for the third time in less than 3 years and this time I''m ripping the system out. Do not waste your time with this unit, do not risk a leak under your sink.

I live in the country on a very clean well. Installed the unit (cheaply constructed-chrome on plastic faucet). Just a dribble coming out. I doubt I can put up with it very long and will spend more money to correct the problem.

The unit worked fine until I had to replace the filter. Now there is a leak where the first filter hooks up. I don''t see an easy fix other than to replace the unit.

Pumie Toilet Bowl Ring Remover #TBR-6 Save 80% Off

Pumie Toilet Bowl Ring Remover #TBR-6Alas, freshening the bathroom bowl is one of those household things I just hate. My wife has assigned the task to me and I try to keep the work to a minimum. I''ve found a wonderful bathroom bowl cleaner referred to as "The Works" (available at Wall-Mart and other stores, but can be somewhat hard to find). It makes cleaning a toilet real easy. However, even with this miracle worker, sometimes a light ring is evident and that has always bothered my wife. We picked up a Pumie and it essentially removed the ring. I''m impressed!

I''m a geologist, so please pardon the following analysis. Pumice is a natural volcanic glass and, as such, has just about the same degree of hardness (resistance to scratching) as the toilet bowl porcelain. If anything, the porcelain might be slightly softer. The package says that the product is "safe." Well, pumice is not toxic in any way so by safe they probably mean that it won''t scratch porcelain. But they then warn about using the Pumie on colored bowls, where scratching would be more evident. I suspect that the rather remarkable ability of this pumice stick product to remove that ugly stain is producing minor, mostly microscopic, surface damage to the interior of the bowl each time that it is used. Whether this makes any difference is open to question. If you replace your bowl every ten or twenty years, or if you live in a rented property, then go ahead and use it with vigor. If you expect the bowl to remain like new for the life of the house, you''re probably going to start to notice the scratching and it will probably give the porcelain a dull non-glazed finish. It won''t hurt the function of the bowl in any way, I should add. So what should one do? Well, I''m going to use the Pumie sparingly in that I won''t be around long enough to view the damage and even if I am, a toilet bowl isn''t all that expensive or difficult to replace. For most people, I would suggest cleaning the bowl first with a conventional bowl cleaner (The Works is suggested) and then, if any remnants of an ugly ring persist, go to the Pumie. I think you''ll be surprised at how easy it is.

Pumice stones are excellent for removing rust stains and hard water deposits on variety of surfaces including toilets, bathtubs and sinks. They are even good to remove callouses on your feet. This product works as advertised and works very well. However you can save a lot if you buy the regular pumice stone from same company at less than half the price, and here on Amazon and Prime eligible.

U. S. Pumice HDW-12 Pumie Scouring Stick

Unless you are squeamish about getting your hand in the toilet bowl it works just as well, better maybe as you can control the stone better without the handle and can use full stone not just part down to where handle insert goes into the stone. You are going to put your hand in toilet bowl anyway even with the handle, why not save several dollars?

When I purchased my home two years ago, my toilet had a ring. I have tried various products in a effort to remove the ring. Eventually, my best friend told me that I would probably have to replace the toilet because it would be impossible to remove the ring. One day I decided to google my problem. I came up with several links that suggested the Pumie. I read the reviews on Pumie (which were great, btw). I decided to order the product. After about 30 minutes of wiping the ring, my toilet was as good as new!!!

Old Friend Men''s Romeo Slipper

Old Friend Men''s Romeo Slipper,Chestnut,10 5EI will be going on my 3 pair in 6 years. I buy a pair every other Christmas. I think I have got my money worth every time. The only reasons I have to buy new ones are the rubber sole breaks apart after almost 2 years. I still use my first pair as outside only for taking out trash and my current pair has gone everywhere, from grocery shopping to relaxing around house. I wear these everywhere. When I go camping I do not wear any other shoe. I would say if they could fix the issue with rubber sole not breaking apart by the stitches I would have not had to buy one every other year or maybe I would. But really how long should a shoe last, I believe I have got my money''s worth....

Very comfortable and supportive. I am a big guy and needed something with nice cushion. These did the trick.

Just bought these slippers last week based on good reviews on Amazon. Got them right on time yesterday and right out of the box they are the most comfortable slippers I have ever worn. Soft on the inside and firm enough on the outside to just fit to your feet. The inside arch support forms to feet and gives surprisingly firm support. I have weak arches and these slippers really help. Good value that I would recommend to anyone.

It is such a shame that this really comfortable slipper that is hard to find in retail stores, has such a poor sales customer service department. This slipper comes in the hard to find HALF SIZES AND WIDE WIDTH. I ordered 10 1/2 E (wide) and received 10 Medium instead. It cost me $8.00 for shipping and handling and another $8.00 to return these slippers. Since I could not find anything comparible here in Hill Country Texas, where there is little choice, I ordered these slippers again through their customer service line and the agent sent them to me this time with free shipping and handling and GUARANTEED me that these new slippers would be in the correct size 10 1/2 E. Believe it or not these slippers came again in 10 Medium. This is so frustrating that this company can''t seem to get this correct. If these slippers no longer come in half sizes and wide width, why does their advertisement keep saying that they have this Old Friend Men''s Romeo Slipper in half sizes and wide width. There just isn''t any reliable sales service any more and this company just doesn''t seem to care about their reputation.

LG WM3455HS 24 Front Load Compact Washer/Dryer Combo

LG WM3455HS 24 Front Load Compact Washer/Dryer Combo , 2.7 cu. ft. Capacity - SilverQUALITY

The build quality of this washer/dryer combo is inconsistent: On the plus side, the machine is heavy enough to stay put, and the drum feels so solid that you could wash bricks in it. Giving 10 years warranty on the motor is also a nice touch. On the other side, the entire front (including the secondary "glass" and shiny bezel around it) is made of plastic, the control panel gets hot (can''t be good for the electronics), and I have observed kinks, such as a program starting in the middle maybe 1 out of 10 times, requiring an extra off/on.

THE WASHER

Frontloaders are only now making inroads in the US market, and if you believe "the internet", they are magical. I can confirm at least some of the claims in this specific incarnation: First, the washer is extremely frugal with all consumables involved: I''m down to 2 tablespoons of detergent and 1 of softener with no adverse effects; water is kept no higher than a puddle at all times, and the 1 hour cold cycle runs on a measly 0.1 kWh (or 3 cents for me). Second, the machine is easy on clothes: there are Delicate and Wool modes to give you an idea, plus I have successfully cleaned neoprene wetsuits (with special detergent), which are said to be shredded by agitators.

The major downside to the design is that the horizontal drum causes vibrations that many US homes cannot easily absorb. Consider my case, top floor of a pre-war walkup, woodbased building: even on medium spin speed, the contents of the fridge next to the machine would rattle loudly, and I only saw some relief after I bought Sorbothane Silent Feet. I''m fairly content now, but I still feel the machine should have better built-in vibration reduction, especially considering that LG is the company that showed off a washer operating on 4 glasses a few years ago!

THE DRYER

The dryer is the weaker part in this package. For starters, a full cycle runs for 4 hours (on top of the 1 hour wash), which makes this machine unsuitable for big family laundry days. There is no lint filter, so you''ll have to pry things out of the seal afterwards, and one low-temp cycle eats up 1.5kWh (= $0.50), somewhat negating the overall efficiency advantage. And as if all that wasn''t enough, I swear I see more wrinkles than before, with my Brooks Brothers "wrinkle free" shirts now coming out in MORE need of ironing than regular shirts!

Now all that said... if you can navigate around those issues (also see TIPS below), the advantage of the combo design begine to shine: all you have to do is drop in the dirties, set the timer, go to work, and come back to a readily washedanddried package! I''ve gotten used to doing this during the week, and found that I have more clean clothes available than before at any time, therefore donated some, AND gotten rid of my large dirtylaundry container! That was an unexpected triplewin in the space department for me, and worth the tradeoffs.

OPERATION

I find this machine easy enough to use, although there is room for improvement. Basically, you go from left to right: fill in the detergents, pick a cycle (cotton is the default), pick options (extra water, etc), select a dry mode, and press play. What irks me a little is that selections crossinterfere: for example, the machine may override your just-picked spin speed when you select a dry mode. Also, some drying combinations are missing: you can do time (30, 60, 120), dryness (damp, normal, extra), or "low temp", but no other permutations. For my wool pants or dive suits, a delicate wash cycle followed by 30 mins of lowtemp drying would have been perfect, but nope....

One nice feature worth mentioning: you can interrupt the program at any time, change any setting or open the door, and then resume. Even with the Extra Water option selected, nothing will pour out (like I said, frugal).

NOISE

This machine is specifically marketed as quiet, an important feature when you want to sell to urbanites who perhaps plan to sneak it into their apartment (usually forbidden) . And yes, the directdrive motor is a winner: all you get is a gentle hum at normal wash speeds. However, there are two problems (three if you count vibration, above):

The water inlet valves open/close/open/close/etc... up to six times each time water is added, and this triggered buildingwide "water hammer" events in my case. I used to think that this, too, was my building''s fault, but I found that many people experience this with LG machines even in new construction. Thankfully, there is a solution to it: socalled "water hammer arresters" like this Sioux model help out a lot.

The pump that gets the water out is loud. That being a vague qualifier, I ended up measuring it (we''ve all got issues!): washing or drying registers around 60dB, but when the pump comes on, the sound level jumps to 70dB. For comparison, these numbers happen to be the range of human conversation: it''s like someone speaking very softly (60 dB), then suddenly borderline shouting (70 dB). This keeps happening during the 4hour dry cycle as well, not just the washing.

TIPS

After a couple months of use, here are a few practical tips I''d like to pass on:

Use powder instead of liquid detergent. You''ll be able to do a prewash this way as well as use the timer feature. The softeners is ok in liquid form and won''t drip down.

To save on electricity and ease ironing, make sure you pick the fastest spin speed possible, then shorten the dry cycle. For business shirts or synthetics, I''m getting away with as little as 30 min drying time.

To run the dry cycle by itself: select "drain and spin" on the knob, set your dry option, then unselect the spin speed et voilà! you can dry your clothes some more or use Dryel sheets this way.

RECOMMENDATION

One the one hand, this is the best appliance I''ve ever purchased: spacesaving, efficient, and a heavenly luxury compared to the alternative which is an inconvenient and pricey "wash and fold". If you''re in a similar situation, I predict you''ll absolutely love this machine for what it does to your routine. On the other hand, there are some considerable flaws, mostly the noise level, slow drying, and the vibration issue. Overall, if you actually have the space for two machines, a separate washer / dryer would be the safer bet.

I got this unit because I have space constraints in my apartment, and few other washer / dryers would fit near the plumbing lines without taking down walls or anything... If you live in an apartment where venting and space are issues I would recommend this. In a house, I don''t think it would make sense over normal units.

As a washer-dryer it functions as you would expect and is really only slightly smaller than a standard sized unit. For a family, I could see the capacity being a problem, but for a couple or a single person living alone I highly doubt you''d need more capacity than this machine provides.

-As a washer:

It has a number of different wash settings, functions as an HE washer (so use HE detergent), and does a normal sized load in about an hour.

-As a dryer:

I was concerned before I bought this as to how well this would function. It turned out much better than expected.

A key feature is that it is ventless, so no need to run an exhaust vent anywhere. It uses "condensation drying", not really sure as to the mechanics of how it is different, but I think steam builds up in the chamber where the clothes are loaded into, and the steam is slowly ''condensed'' and pumped out from the drain line.

Other reviewers may have noted that the clothes come out moist, but this isn''t the case at all... Upon removing clothes from the unit, a lot of residual steam is usually in the clothes chamber.

Remove the clothes, give them about 30 seconds for the steam to float away, and you''ll notice they are *bone* dry... When I first used this machine, I used the standard drying settings, and noticed that my clothes came out overly dry (at risk of shrinking) because of how well the dryer worked. I''ve since set the machine to timed drying, and usually set it to about one hour.

The one caveat is that clothes do need to be taken out soon after the dry cycle is complete otherwise the residual steam in the chamber will slowly condense back in to water and leave the clothes a little wet. I haven''t found this to be an issue, as I usually fold my clothes right after they dry anyway.

I load the machine with one full set of clothes (filling the chamber fully without compressing any clothes), no less and no more. I find it works well. Towels or jeans to dry and I might load it a little less.

For a complete cycle (washing and drying), I''ve found it to take just a little over 2 hours.

I don''t know about the durability of this machine yet, as I''ve only had it for 6 months or so but from what I understand, it''s very important to clean out the pump filter (small hatch on the lower front corner) every month or so, and brush lint off the front door of the machine, as there is no lint filter. Without this maintenance, the lint will build up inside the pump or motor and cause a whole lot of issues this seemed to be the cause of 90% of the repair issues from other reviewers I''ve seen on the web.

I bought the extended warranty just in case (I usually don''t buy ''em), just cause this is a combo unit, and it does seem a little sensor / electronics heavy.

The only cons I''ve really experienced are as follows, and some of them can be mitigated:

1) I would recommended using water hammer arrestors, as the inlet valves turn on and off very abruptly when first starting cycles. In buildings with older piping, I could imagine this could (but not necessarily) be loud, and / or cause damage to the supply lines. Not really an issue with the water hammer arrestors installed I haven''t noticed any sounds / vibrations on the hookup lines.

2) Unless this unit is *perfectly* balanced, it will vibrate a lot, and make a lot of noise during the spin cycle. When it''s not in the spin cycles, it sounds like a normal machine. When I ran the first spin cycle, it sounded like a low speed jet engine... I since leveled it as best as I could, got anti-vibration pads for the feet, and put in anti-noise / vibration foam around the sides which has dampened the sound somewhat... without taking these steps, I''m sure my neighbors would be complaining... even so it still is a little loud.

During the dry cycle, the drain pump is also a little loud, but that might be because I run my drain line to my tub while in use, and the pump may have to work a bit harder to get the water out.

If this machine ran quietly with the same functionality, I''d give it 5 stars. Without my custom mods, I''d probably give it 3/3.5 stars, because I could see neighbors complaining about the noise.

All-in-all though, the convenience of doing my laundry in my apartment trumps the hassle of setup. I''d recommend this machine to apartment dwellers.

This unit does exactly as LG says it will do. It takes about three hours to transform your dirties into clean/dry laundry. The machine washes like a champ, but the drying takes time. The machine also requires a FIRM surface along with proper leveling. I live on the second story of a house in SF built in 1907, the floor is made of cheap wood... it took special rubber feet along with three hours of leveling and tweeking the feet in order to suppress the vibration caused by the spin cycle. It still vibrates and I''m sure my downstairs neighbors can hear which, but you can live with it, just make sure the machine isn''t on top of a bedroom.

Bottom line:

Its a washer first

A dryer second

It''s not good for a family, but for me... my house which has two single guys, it works nicely. I will admit, it''s a cool machine... it''s slick, sturdy, and kinda fun to use!

This is a great product, but takes some getting used to. I have had this washer/dryer for a little less than a month. I was a little disappointed at first, but after trying different settings now love it. Here are the tips that I have:

1. Use the speed wash setting with high spin setting and cold water. It will wash in 24 minutes and use a minimal amount of electricity and water, but still do a good job.

2. USE ONLY THE TIME DRY!!!!! USING THE SENSOR DRY WILL EXTREMELY OVER DRY THE CLOTHES!!!!! CLOTHES MAY FEEL DAMP WHEN TAKEN OUT, BUT WILL DRY IN MINUTES ONCE TAKEN OUT.

3. Dry 30 minutes for synthetics. Dry 60 minutes for cotton clothes (not including jeans). Jeans dry 30-60 minutes then hang dry for 4-24 hours. For mixed load of cotton shirts and jeans dry 30 minutes, hang dry jeans, dry remaining clothes for 30 minutes.

If you have the space I would buy the larger LG Washer Dryer Combo, but if you are limited on space like me this one is great. This is definitely the best looking washer dryer combo on the market.

If you are scared of other stories you read about 4 hour dry times, don''t be. They are using the sensor dry and it over dries the clothes. I haven''t had to dry anything for more than 120 minutes. If you use the sensor dry jeans will come out wrinkled, better to take them out damp and air dry the rest of the way. If you do this jeans will come out less wrinkled than using a large/normal sized dryer plus it will save a lot of energy. They will air dry quickly because the spin does such a good job of pushing the water out of them.

We have had this unit about 21 months at this point. Overall, it has been a champ. For 2 people & a dog, it is a great size and it cleans clothes really well. It wouldn''t be the first option if we had room for full size laundry machines, but for a size-strapped city condo, it is a perfect fit. It takes about 3.5 hours from start to finish and clothes come out ridiculously hot and dry. So hot I have to give them a minute to cool down before removal. It dries them well (albeit slowly), but if clothes are not removed immediately, the wrinkling sets in. And boy, the wrinkles can be bad unless clothes are hung/flattened as soon as they are finished.

Aside from the wrinkles, this machine is great for day to day use. Really, it does a good job.

And for the bad:

-No timer. One would think a machine this pricey would come with a timer. Oh well.

-Water hammer. Just awful. It sounded like someone was shooting up our laundry room. It was so loud we bought the water hammer arrestors to help. And they do help, but that was an additional cost that should not be required.

-Flood-safe washer hoses are a bust. We had to go back and buy regular hoses. Hope they don''t leak or fail!

-In the 21 months that we have owned the machine, we have had to call a repairman to clean out an internal duct 2 times. It seems lint collects in the bowls of the machine and this lint can not be removed without taking the machine apart. So, $100 a pop for those cleanings. I understand that lint has to go somewhere, but you think they could make that area user-accessible so we could do it ourselves. And additionally, it seems that it has backed up again, so I''ll be calling the service guy again. That will be 3 times in 21 months it needs to be taken apart. Essentially, when this happens the dry sensor malfunctions and the machine thinks it is finished after the spin cycle (when the clothes are still sopping wet). Remove a fist full of backed-up lint and it runs like new again. Sigh.

LightAir IonFlow Air Purifier Save 40% Off

LightAir IonFlow Air Purifier, 50 SurfaceI bought this unit and let it run for a number of days and began to wonder why nothing significant occured. I then started a process of asking "Who has reviewed this product that I can read about?" and "what information does this very same company put out that is verifiable, complete and independant?" And then....I got my answers!

1. Every technical reference on their own web page has a broken link. Every Chart, every supposed techinical paper that speaks directly to THEIR product is absent. Want endless papers about all things OTHER THAN their product''s verifiable performance? Then go to the IONAIR website.

2. The only reference I was able to find on no OZONE generation was a single page doc from VLL. THEY DID A 3 HOUR TEST!...thats right 3 hours.

3. Consummer Report finally did a review on THIS VERY UNIT and they CAME IN LAST as the worst performing unit. Consummer Report went as far to say, and I quote, "The IONFLO did even a worse job of cleaning the air" followed by, get ready folks, "the IONFLO air cleaner was about as effective at removing dust and smoke AS HAVING NO AIR CLEANER AT ALL!"

See it for yourself here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3BJVIJh2qA

Heartbreaking to be taken in by a Danish Design Scam, mine went straight back and I begin the process all over again.

This isn''t an air cleaner, its a scam for folks that want to believe something their own eyes are telling them is false.

The LightAir IonFlow 50S Air Purifier is that rarest of finds; a product that is everything it claims to be and more. I have tried many air purifiers over the years with various results. I noticed over time that they fell into one of the following categories:

1. Essentially worthlessunable to do its job. Usually because of a poor design or by being underpowered.

2. DisposableQuite a few air purifiers would be fine for a while and then lose effectiveness or stop working completely (usually within the 1st year of ownership). Typically the craftsmanship would be poor and the materials used would be cheap. Customer service would be a joke as well, so trying to fix one of these was a nightmare.

3. OverpricedVery common category. The advertising would promise the moon, but the reality was that you were paying an extremely high price for mediocrity. Typically includes an ongoing cost for filters as well.

4. Esthetically DeficientI mean seriously loud, ugly, huge, heavy, dirty, a hassle to clean, or all of the above.

I wish I had the patience to actually categorize each of the air purifiers I have tried so that you would stay away from them, but the best I can do is to say that the ONLY air purifier that I have ever owned that has done its job exactly as advertised while remaining totally silent, is easy to clean, has nothing to periodically replace and is actually stylish enough that many find it attractive is this one right here: the LightAir IonFlow 50S. Now that I have found it and put it to the test, there is no other air purifier that I would own. Period. It''s in a category all by itself....Pound for Pound the Best Air Purifier on the market today.

I''ve been on the hunt for a good air cleaner for my home office, since I work there for hours every day. And living a block from an international airport, air quality is important for me. Seeing that the general reviews were in favor of this air cleaner, I decided to give it a try, as expensive as it was. The shipping was impeccably fast, and received it in two business days.

Now upon opening it, the product itself didn''t feel like a high quality product. Many of the parts are simple plastic, and putting it together was a simple case of slipping plastic tubing into place. Nothing "snaps" together, it all just stands on top of each other. For something as much as $380, I expected a design more sturdy and elegant. I didn''t put together the protective guard, but every single piece of it was crudely cut plastic. The power switch doesn''t smoothly toggle; it feels like something you''d find at a dollar store.

But now those are just cosmetics, so let me move on to performance. I gave it a 48 hour test run, to see if my dusty 121 square foot room would improve. It didn''t seem to collect much of the dust in the room. The positive metal attractor still looks fairly clean, meaning it''s not grabbing everything. I haven''t seen any direct improvements. There''s no fresh "ionized" smell of any kind, though I can see the purifier is doing it''s work. When I walk into the room, I expect to instantly find a noticeable difference on my first breath. After 48 hours, I still have yet to find that freshness.

VERDICT:

OK, so if this thing were $50 or lower, I can see it being worth it''s money. It DOES work, as it''s ionizing and attracting dust, which is why it gets that extra star. However it isn''t doing it effectively enough to see any difference, certainly not for how small a room it''s working in, and CERTAINLY not enough to support it''s incredibly expensive market price.

If you have any kind of asthma or allergies, this purifier is not going to be very effective; keep looking for something else.

The only difficulty is this product is finding where to place it. Placement is required to be at least 1 meter from a wall and all electronics. But with that being said, when you find a place for it, its quiet, does not require expensive hard to find filters, and is very aesthetically pleasing. My only wish is that the lights would come in a different color than blue. Once you get over the initial sticker shock, you will be very pleased with the purifier. I have a pug, live Oceanside and am not the best housekeeper in the world, but I luv this product. I can not believe what I clean off of it weekly.

As I received my air purifier, I thought if nothing else, it was an interesting modern-looking decorative piece of, well, I''m not exactly sure WHAT, but it certainly does look modern. Unfortunately thats about all it does. I put it together, using the not-so-decent included assembly guide (it looked to me as though if I could read French or Spanish I would''ve been a lot better off--but since I don''t, I''ll never know for sure) and it took awhile to assemble this one particular piece that, when all is said and done, really does absolutely NOTHING. Don''t know why it was included at all. If I had looked more carefully at the picture on the front of the box it came in, I would''ve saved a lot of time by not assembling it in the first place. Honestly, I have ZERO clue what it is or why it was included.

I turned the unit on and let it do its thing for a good 4-5 days now and I cannot tell in the slightest whether it cleans the air or just sucks electricity. Seriously, is there even a way to prove that it does anything of what it claims to do? Other than generate a slight static electric shock if you get too close (which IS its own form of entertainment when my little boys get nearby) as well as provide a minor night light for navigating our dining room in the dark, this device seemingly does nothing at all that I have been able to verify. If it really DOES clean the air, I have not been able to tell one bit. For those who require for various reasons purified air, I would seriously look elsewhere or at the very least, take it someplace that can actually measure--if possible--whether or not it cleans anything other than your pocketbook.

I am grateful that I had the chance to receive this through the Vine Program, because had I actually paid for it, I would have taken it back almost immediately. Food for thought.

Home Water Distiller: Waterwise® 8800 Countertop Water Distiller Save 7% Off

Home Water Distiller: Waterwise® 8800 Countertop Water DistillerI have owned this distiller for 10 years now; bought it from sears as a kenmore brand but is identical to the 8800. I run 2 gallons a day on average. A few things to know:

1. It produces heat, I keep mine in the the laundry room with the exhaust fan going while in use. It gets hot in there.

2. Will comfortably do 2-3 gallons a day. It takes about 4 hrs to complete one cycle and needs to cool completely before the next one starts. The delay start feature works great for the cooling on back-to-back cycles.

3. I have hard water and get by with cleaning once a month. After each cleaning the boiler looks like new. I use he water wise cleaning product.

4. Excellent customer service. No issues until 7 years in and it just stopped. Called water wise and explained my model was a kenmore unit, they were willing to send me the parts but recommended I send it to them, for refurbishing. I did and it came back looking like new for about $150 which was the cost of all new parts plus $25 labor.

5. It''s been 3 years since refurb and no other problems.

I have used other units before this one and found the 8800 to be far superior in functionality as well as durability.

A grossly overpriced device that basically just boils water and condenses steam. Marketed by a company operating out of a Post Office box using slick-paper direct mail advertisements that are long on unverifiable customer testimonials and short on any really useful product performance information. They don''t mention that the sealing gasket of the model 8800 is life-limited and will eventually leak or break (although it may be expected to outlive the warranty), and it is not readily obvious that they provide no way to order online, or by mail, any replacement part, or that they even acknowledge that one exists.

DeLonghi EC270 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Machine Save 73% Off

DeLonghi EC270 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Machine, Black and StainlessI have now had this Espresso maker for almost two years and it is still going strong. No problems at all since I replaced the water tank. The coffee quality is still excellent. I use the machine daily and descale about once every six weeks or so. I still love the coffee that this machine makes I get freshly-roasted beans from Peace Coffee online and grind a week''s worth at once. This coffee is so good much better than any coffee house can make. I''d definitely buy another of these machines if this one died. It is easy to use, foolproof, and makes wonderful coffee.

I found a replacement water tank fairly cheaply online. It totally fixed the leaking problem. The through-flow problem and pump noises that made me think it was dying seem to be down to the fineness of the grind. I made the grind a little coarser and stopped tamping it so hard (apparently you don''t need to tamp the coffee so much for these pressurized portafilter machines). Now it is working again just like new! So I am upping my rating to 4 stars, as the tank may need replacing every so often, but this is very easy if you know where to look ( just search on brand and model number EC 210). It was very easy and inexpensive (10.95) to replace the tank. The new tank had a tighter fit than the original perhaps it will last longer. I''m a happy bunny again, now I am getting my daily fix of espresso once more ... :-)

UPDATE 1: Seven months of wonderful coffee, but now getting floods all over the counter, with a distinct lack of flow/throughput from the espresso head. DeLonghi were no help at all in fixing the problem, even though the machine was still under warranty they asked for multiple details over the course of 6 emails, told me it was out of warranty (they take the date of manufacture) and then told me to ship it 100 miles to get the problem sorted once I emailed a scan of my original invoice (they only have a few espresso machine repair centers in the USA). It was cheaper to obtain a new tank from a third-party supplier than to ship the machine. So don''t expect to get this (apparently really common) issue fixed under warranty.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

The machine is easy to use: you need to run two lots of heated water through the espresso filter part to heat it up (takes 3-4 minutes, including wait time for the light on top to tell you that it has reheated between runs). Then you can pop in the pod or a tamped espresso filter and make your coffee. I use Peace Coffee Guatemalan espresso beans, ground fine with a Braun burr grinder. If I can''t be bothered to grind the next few days'' supply, I use Lavazza Espresso Pods Gran Crema, 150-Count, .25-Ounce Pods. Both make excellent coffee, although the Peace coffee is to die for!

The milk steamer/frother works perfectly for me. For the reviewer who said they could only get froth out of this, you need to hold the milk jug closer underneath the wand and at an angle so that the steamer is near the bottom of the jug. If you just put the tip of the steamer wand in the milk, you get froth. If you immerse the wand so that the steamer is close to the bottom of the jug, it steams the milk with very little froth. Move the jug down on the frothing wand as the milk is heated, to add as much froth as you want by steaming the top 1/2 inch at the end of the heating process. I''d really recommend the Krups XS5020 20-Ounce Stainless-Steel Milk Frothing Pitcher as this is *just* the right size to steam milk for 1-2 large (16oz) lattes and has a great handle that keeps fingers away from the heated stainless steel. I would also recommend the Rattleware 5-Ounce Brew Pitcher, which is just the right size to fit under the espresso spouts. I make a long shot of espresso which fills the pitcher from a double-shot amount of espresso (or two single-shot pods). This is the advantage of using a machine that does not have an automatic cutoff for the water-flow: you can make your coffee how you like it (the standard double-shot is only 2oz I make nearer 4oz, which still has a real kick that you don''t find in filtered coffee, yet is not at all bitter).

The RSVP Terry''s Tamper is just the right size for this espresso filter and tamps the coffee much better than the (rather fragile) plastic tamper that comes with the machine. I have just about perfected the "press-and-turn" tamping technique to get the coffee tightly-compressed in the filter, using this tamper.

The only slight drawback with this machine is that you have to wait for the milk steamer to warm up, after you''ve made your espresso, as it only has a single heater. Most of the machines in this price range are like this it is not a big deal. You press the steamer button and wait for it to light up (takes about 1-2 minutes, max). If you leave the coffee in a little brew jug under the spout, it is kept warm by the metal plate underneath, which was already heated by the initial warmup process. I have made espresso for 4 people with this machine in the same run and each came out beautifully. The water reservoir holds 35oz, which is enough for more coffee and steam than I am likely to need ...

I have not had any problem with turning the filter holder unless I really overfilled the espresso filter basket it can be quite tight if you get too ambitious with the amount of coffee you can pack in there! I agree with the reviewer who observed that the machine is not as heavy as it looks and you have to hold onto the top of the machine, as you insert the filter holder. But at least this makes it easy to carry.

Overall the machine is really easy to use and to clean. The espresso filter holder is nicely designed with a flip-up arm that allows you to knock the grounds out easily. I have made way more coffee with this machine than I expected, because it is so good and so easy. I thought that this would be a weekend indulgence and was afraid that I might not use it enough to justify the cost. In fact, I make espresso every morning and I don''t know how I lived without it for so long!

We had high hopes for this machine, and it was well reviewed and very reasonably priced. The first time we filled the water reservoir a few minutes later we were stepping in water (oh, it leaks.) We cleaned up, filled it up again, and this time carefully ensured it was seated properly. Then we waited. Yep, it leaked again.

After a couple of additional attempts (push it firmly in, gently rest it in place) I decided to turn on the machine...maybe running a cycle or two would fix things. As it warmed up, water started leaking out of the steam nozzle! (first time it was ever used) followed by leaking from the water reservoir.

The manual says nothing about troubleshooting leaks. I think we got a dud, and I''m very disappointed.

This machine is nicely heavy and strong, normally with every pump espresso machine you have to wait like 5 minutes or more to let it warm up, well this one is ready in seconds, the pump is not noisy at all, the steamer works very nice mixing perfectly the milk with the steam without making boiling the milk before you get a firm foam and that is a good advantage because you can froth directly into your cup instead of using frothing pitcher (less clean to do), the water reservoir can be remove to fill it or it has a lid too, and it comes with two kinds of filters one to use with ground coffee for 2 cups, and another one that can be use with ground coffee for 1 cup or with E.S.E pods( which although they are bit expensive, once you use them you love them cause they are super practical) and at last but not least the fact that this has stainless-steel boiler is a plus since all the small espressos use aluminum which is not that healthy. In general it is very easy to use and to clean machine.

I am somewhat of an aged coffee drinker, I admit. I have had years where I would go to work and consume maybe 15 6 oz. cups of coffee. Even now, I don''t have a problem drinking a triple or quad shot latte. I just have a hard time watching the money flow out of my wallet when I frequent the espresso stands. But I do like a tasty cup of java. I know what I like and I''ll likely pay for it if I have to buy coffee at an espresso stand, but I won''t be buying any $200+ machines for home use any time soon. Nor any expensive burr grinders or $30 tampers. And no ESE pods. I want the coffee experience. Coffee pods are made for those who want automatic machines and that is NOT what I want out of a coffee making machine experience. That being said, I did some research to upgrade my current 20+ year old Krups espresso/latte maker (hardly any crema and way too much airy foam in the milk). I found the DeLonghi EC-270 on sale and specifically researched it for comments. Yes I have read all the reviews here on Amazon and I''m honestly scratching my head in wonder. Are we all talking about the same machine? I am absolutely IN LOVE with this unit and have been since I opened the box. It has a small footprint compared to many of the higher priced ones, It is manually operated, which I want....I like the experience of being my own barista, I do not want an automatic machine where you push a button for a latte and out comes your complete drink. I don''t want a grinder added to my machine, I''ll do that on my own. I just want an honest machine that will consistently pour(or pull or steam) a great cup of espresso or cappucino or latte. This one does it with 3 buttons and one twist knob. One button turns the machine on to warm up the water, one button selects the coffee route for the heated water and the third button selects the steamer route for the heated water. Push the button for coffee and within 25 to 40 seconds you can have up to 2 shots of great looking espresso with a generous dose of crema on top. Push the steamer button and the steam wand is ready for action in moments (not minutes). Once that button lights up you turn the knob on the side of the machine and put a small pitcher of milk under the steamer and steam it for up to 60 seconds. Add steamed milk to pulled shots of espresso and enjoy. And all this was possible after only one or two times through the process to get it understood and somewhat mastered (although I like to think I am still mastering the art of a great latte).

I haven''t had any problems with leaking water tanks, no problems with the filter holder, no problems with long waits for the water to heat up, and no problem putting the pitcher underneath the frother/steamer. I DID read the manual before I started making the coffee and I did keep in mind all the problems some others seem to have had with this unit. I have had none of them. Now, for some history: with my old twenty plus year old unit, I would make about 4 lattes a week. With this new unit, I like the lattes I am making so much more that I am making roughly 15 to 20 a week! I don''t mind a little clean up afterwards...I knew that came with the territory since I had an older machine, but it seems my cleanup time is a bit less than before. But for sure I can claim that my cups of coffee now are WAY better than before without changing the grinder or the coffee beans or the type of milk (I use non-fat milk almost exclusively). And I AM using a blade coffee grinder, not a burr grinder. I just make sure that I am grinding until all the ground coffee is as close to espresso grind as possible. I just can''t afford to buy a good burr grinder (and I have looked into them, I understand their benefits). I am satisfied with the results I obtain with my 15+ year old coffee bean grinder. The crema the DeLonghi can produce is easily 3 times what I got out of my old Krups unit, and the shots are being pulled out within 25 to 30 seconds. Yes, I spend a bit of time tamping down the grinds so that the filter holder will yield great results within the expected time frame. And yes, I am using the plastic tamper the comes with the machine.

What I do not do is remove the water tank every time I want to fill it up. I simply use the pitcher that will hold milk and fill it with water first and pour it into the water tank. I am thinking that the fewer times I remove the tank, the less damage I am doing to the seal at the tank base. Eventually I realize that I will have to do periodic cleaning of the tank and other parts of the machine but I can handle that. I am relating all this to put into perspective all the comments others have made. Bottom line, I love this machine and I can barely let it sit still for 24 hours without feeling compelled to make myself another coffee drink for me or my wife. We both absolutely LOVE the results....a great cup of coffee. I have had ZERO problems with this machine and only many positive remarks from family and friends when they drink the results from the EC-270. I hope this review dispels some of the misconceptions associated with some of these other DeLonghi EC-270 reviews.

As a final comment, I acquired mine on sale and with a rebate that definitely put the total under $100. That''s less than half of what my old Krups cost brand new. You should seriously consider this machine if you like involving yourself with the ''barista'' experience and love the results of what you can produce. I end up talking about this machine to others almost every day. I LOVE IT!!

When I got this espresso machine (birthday present) I was very excited because I have the EC155 at work and I''m very pleased with that model (5 out of 5 stars). I was very dismayed when I read the reviews about this (the EC270) machine and learned about the leaky water tank problem. Here are my findings so far:

PROS:

1. This machine DOES make a really good cup of espresso.

2. It''s a very pretty machine.

3. It''s not overly expensive.

CONS:

1. It has no holder for the "other" filter that isn''t being used the EC155 has a holder under the lid for storing the other filter which is quite convenient.

2. It''s VERY noisy, much noisier than the EC155.

3. The filter starts dripping as soon as I turn on the machine, and continues to drip LONG after I make an espresso. Some dripping is understandable since the grounds hold some liquid, but this machine drips out as much as 3 ounces of liquid AFTER turning off the pump; that seems really excessive to me (the EC155 drips very little after making a cup and never before).

4. After having it for less than two weeks, and using it 2-5 times per day, mysterious puddles have begun to appear beneath the machine which I have traced back to, you guessed it, a leaking water tank.

5. The drip tray is pretty awkward to remove and the "level indicator" is useless: If you let the drip tray get full enough for the indicator to be seen then you''re going to spill when you remove the tray.

6. Poor value: It does make great espresso, but so does the EC155 and it is cheaper, it doesn''t leak, it''s quieter, etc.

It''s almost as if the EC270 and the EC155 were made by two different companies. Apparently the EC155 is made in Italy (Amazon.com description) while the EC270 is made in China (bottom of machine). That could have something to do with it.

The warranty states that they will either repair it or replace a defective machine but the purchaser has to pay shipping to ship it back. For a $130.00 machine, is it worth it to go through all that trouble?

I expect that eventually I''ll get fed up, throw it in the garbage, and buy the EC155 for $80.

Culligan US-600A 3/8-Inch Undersink Drinking Water Filter Save 32% Off

Culligan US-600A 3/8-Inch Undersink Drinking Water Filter
  • New slimmer design
  • Works well in tight spaces
  • Quick Connect fittings and tubing
  • Accepts most standard water filter cartridges
  • Easily installation and includes a 5 year warranty

Tired of spending your hard earned money on Brita Filter 5-packs? For 5 to 10 more dollars, you can get an under sink unit by Culligan that is easy to install, comes with a 3-month filter in the package (level 1 filter), and is easy to upgrade to more advanced filtration (up to level 4).

Summary: I am thoroughly impressed with this unit. I will update the review as time goes by if it breaks, or anything leaks, but it is well built and looks solid, and delivers water that I would say tastes better than Brita water.

I live in Upstate New York, where the water quality is OK, but there is often a lot of chlorine in the water. My main concern was reducing the chlorine taste, and this unit certainly does deliver.

I am breaking my review down into 5 parts, with each part getting 1 star weighting: 0 means poor, 1/2 means OK, and 1 means excellent

Ease of Installation: 1 star

I have been known to be a clutz around the house but I was able to do it without having any leaks or having to install any extra fittings. Everything is snug and tight out of the box. The fittings that come with the filter have a plastic inset that you can remove to fit directly on 3/8" OD pipe or feed line. They are not gimpy fittings, despite what you might think of a press together fitting. All of the fittings were snug and secure upon install. Water pressure tends to hold them together even more tightly when the system is pressurized.

Installation tip: (This applies if you have 3/8"OD plastic feed line going to your faucet) Instead of cutting the feed line you already have installed, buy a $3 feed line at a hardware store and cut it in half using tin snips or a sharp knife. Then you can turn the water off, remove the old feed line, and install the new feed line connected to the Culligan. This way, if something goes wrong, you can connect the old feed line back up and be back with running water in only 10 minutes or so.

The entire install takes only 30-45 minutes and if you have the right tools, you may not even need a trip to the hardware store.

Don''t forget the silicone (waterproof) grease on the o-rings!

Water Flow: 1 star

I admit I was surprised by the voracity of the water flow. I haven''t measured it in GPM, but it is nearly the same rate as when there was no filter installed.

Taste: 1 star

Water tastes fresh and clean and there is no aftertaste.

Ease of Use: 1 star

Turn on the tap, it works. No waiting for a pitcher to filter or worrying about if you''ll have enough water to boil pasta without waiting 10 minutes, etc.

Upgradability: 1 star

You can buy a level 4 filter (the D40), which reduces lead and other nasties in the water, for about the same price as you pay for this unit, and it lasts for 6 months. Or, there is the Level 3 filter (the D30), which does almost as much as the D40, lasts for a year, and costs half as much. In terms of cost, it is really hard to beat the value of the D30.

Included Filter: 0.5 stars

If you want a higher degree of filtration you can always buy a level 2, 3, or 4 filter separately. However, the Level 1 filter makes your water taste nice, and for the price of the filter unit, is a nice addition. Some stores advertise units that do not include a filter, but not this particular seller.

The correct filter to buy for this unit is the D10, D20, D30, or the D40.

I am rounding up my 4.5 star review to 5 stars on Amazon, giving an extra 0.5 stars for the good feeling I got after installing the filter (and because you can only do 4 or 5 stars, not 4.5)!

I liked the idea of saving money spent on pitcher water filters. I bought this filter along with the Amazon recommended Watts faucet since customers complained about the other Culligan complete kit using a plastic faucet which breaks easily. This kit comes with a D20 filter, couple feet of 3/8" hose, two 3/8" 90 elbow quick-connects, and screws to mount to inside of cabinet.

If you plan on using this to filter all cold water from your faucet I recommend going to the hardware store to buy some brass compression fittings to adapt over to the 3/8" plastic tubing and then back again after the filter. It seems too many people are trying to get the quick-connect fittings to grip their copper pipe or tubing. In all honesty, I would not expect the quick-connect teeth to hold onto copper with high water pressure. The tiny teeth are meant to grip plastic tubing and once connected it''s nearly impossible to remove without damaging it.

Likewise, if you''re going to add a seperate drinking faucet you''ll want to go to the hardware store to buy a brass tee which fits your current piping. Make sure the side takeoff of the tee is 3/8" compression which you''ll use to run to the filter and then up to the drinking faucet. Connect your old faucet to the top of the tee. This is easy if you have a newer faucet with threaded compression nuts. Look for something called Adapt-a-tee which is a tee with a compression nut on one end and male compression threads on the other two ports.

Personally, I would prefer threaded fittings on this filter. I really don''t see how it''s worth trusting customers with the quick-connects when real compression fittings are easy to use and you can simply tighten them to stop leaks. I have no idea how long the gaskets last in the quick-connects and once put together they can''t easily be taken apart. Most people don''t even realize just how far they have to push for a complete seal.

Since I have a completely seperate line for my ice maker coming from the basement I bought a second filter for behind the fridge. I refuse to pay $30+ for a refrigerator filter that only lasts 6 months when these cheap babies last 12 months! To make things easier I installed the under-sink filter first, flushed the include D-20 filter element to get all the loose carbon out of it, and then re-installed the flushed D-20 cartridge into the fridge filter. It would be nearly impossible to get all the loose carbon out using the fridge water/ice system. Afterward, I installed a new D-30 element into the under-sink filter and flushed that.

Both D-20 and D-30 cartridges made our water taste better but I wanted the extra filtering for the faucet and will use the cheaper D-20 for making ice. The D-30 did slow down the water pressure a little bit compared to the D-20 but with our water pressure it''s just right.

I just wanted something that would take the chlorine taste out of my tap water. This thing works great. It only hooks up to cold water which is perfect for filtering drinking water. Installation was fairly easy. When I first hooked it up, water was squirting out of all the connectors. I didn''t realize that you have to push harder on them when you insert them. You have to feel it pop into the connector. You may have to buy some tubing because it only comes with a foot and a half. But that stuff is cheap to get at a hardware store (make sure its for potable water). But once this was hooked up and mounted it has worked like a charm and with zero leaks. Even the basic filter it comes with (D-20) tastes great. I do recommend getting replacement cartridges (D-30) because its supposed to filter out much more little nasties that you might not necessarily taste. Getting replacement filters is very easy, I''ve even seen store brand filters that are compatible with this filter housing. I really enjoy this filter and recommend it to anyone that wants great tasting water from their own tap. Especially if you want a inexpensive way to get away from bottled water, this saves a bunch of money within only a year.

I waited 6 months before making my comments so I know it''s not in my head. This filter has changed my life. My coffee and tea used to never taste right. It''s been going on for several years and I was blaming the coffee and tea companies of cheapening their products. I was wrong. years. Now after getting this filter, I haven''t had one bad cup of coffee or tea. My only regret is I haven''t bought one sooner....much sooner. Also much cheaper HERE than in local stores.

This is the second one of these I''ve bought this new one is for a part time 2nd home. My plumber installed the first one, and I should have looked closer at how he did it. Those push-in compression fittings were difficult to get working without leaks! I did finally get them to stop leaking, but this connection type gives me an uneasy feeling that they might pop-out at any time!

Anyway, the way my plumber did it was to push a short length of 3/8" Copper tubing into the fittings on the filter (instead of the plastic tubing supplied), and then convert to screw-on metal-braided tubing for the rest. It is better this way, but requires buying more parts at the hardware store.

All my glass items -wine glasses, water glasses, pyrex cooking dishes -were coming out of my dishwater cloudy and water-spotted. I thought this was being caused by the detergent I was using, but that turned out not to be the case. After a little research online, I came to the conclusion that the problem was the mineral-rich "hard" water in my city.

I looked at the in-line filters that can be installed in the water line. They''re probably the best solution overall, but they''re expensive, and the replacement filters are expensive too.

These filters are a better value, I think. The cloudiness and water spotting have all but disappeared since I''ve put one in my machine. Its possible that an in-line filter would do a slightly better job, I suppose. But I am very satisfied with the results of these filters.

The bottom portion, holding the chemicals, seperated from the top piece attached to the dish rack and fell to the bottom of the dishwasher. Retrived and had to discard and cut off the remaing top, still attached, and discard it.

The chemicals do a great job.
