Home Water Distiller: Waterwise® 8800 Countertop Water DistillerI have owned this distiller for 10 years now; bought it from sears as a kenmore brand but is identical to the 8800. I run 2 gallons a day on average. A few things to know:

1. It produces heat, I keep mine in the the laundry room with the exhaust fan going while in use. It gets hot in there.

2. Will comfortably do 2-3 gallons a day. It takes about 4 hrs to complete one cycle and needs to cool completely before the next one starts. The delay start feature works great for the cooling on back-to-back cycles.

3. I have hard water and get by with cleaning once a month. After each cleaning the boiler looks like new. I use he water wise cleaning product.

4. Excellent customer service. No issues until 7 years in and it just stopped. Called water wise and explained my model was a kenmore unit, they were willing to send me the parts but recommended I send it to them, for refurbishing. I did and it came back looking like new for about $150 which was the cost of all new parts plus $25 labor.

5. It''s been 3 years since refurb and no other problems.

I have used other units before this one and found the 8800 to be far superior in functionality as well as durability.

A grossly overpriced device that basically just boils water and condenses steam. Marketed by a company operating out of a Post Office box using slick-paper direct mail advertisements that are long on unverifiable customer testimonials and short on any really useful product performance information. They don''t mention that the sealing gasket of the model 8800 is life-limited and will eventually leak or break (although it may be expected to outlive the warranty), and it is not readily obvious that they provide no way to order online, or by mail, any replacement part, or that they even acknowledge that one exists.
