These filters are typically used with under sink or reverse osmosis filters. It''s a carbon block (one solid piece) vs granulated so you don''t have routes for unwanted stuff to make it between the chunks of charcoal which can happen with the granulated type filters. We''ve been using these particular filters for years to filter our drinking water at the kitchen sink. Removes sediment, nearly all (over 99%)chlorine, and reportedly stops many harmful bacteria, cysts, etc. if you have those issues to deal with. Of course these filters shouldn''t be used as your only defense against known polluted water.

The filters are fairly heavy and brittle and I wasn''t happy with the packing of my shipment. If they bang together in transit they *will* crack or have the end caps break off. I''m trying Amazon as my previous supplier wasn''t packing them well for shipment and they were getting damaged. If Amazon can''t get it right I''ll move on.

does the job. it didnt exactly fit our water fountains, so we added a washer and it works just fine. no problems.

This is my first time dealing with whole house filters (we recently moved to this house). When replacing, the bottom ring of the filter fell off, it''s still in the housing and while the filter is inside it''s kind of in place, but when I have to replace the filter again, it''ll take some force to remove that ring from the bottom of the housing.. In this house we have well water, so the pressure is lower, and I don''t know if I''m right, but I think that after installing this filter the water pressure is even lower.. Before this filter the housing had a sediment rope-like filter, so may be there is a difference in pressure. I don''t have any problems with water taste, so I guess the filter is doing its job. In my area there are a lot of calcium in the water, so I still get a lot of calcifications inside my tea kettle.. I do have a water softening system and trying to figure out if its working right.. it''s my next project )))

This was a great filter in the fact that it greatly reduces dirt, bacteria, etc. However, it also greatly reduced our water pressure. We couldn''t run water in two places at once. You couldn''t even flush the toilet and wash your hands at the same time! If you are looking for very clean water and don''t care about pressure, then this filter will work for you. We just value our high pressure showers too much!
