This heater is excellent and the perfect fit, for a certain set of requirements. If you have electricity, use an electric heater. Don''t bother with the hassel of propane. The cost isn''t too different and the hassel factor is much higher than electricity.
I also don''t recommend using the small canisters. That''s an inconvinient way to go as well.
BUT. If you don''t have power and need a cheap, safe heat source that you can run while you sleep, this is the best one made. Buy the 12'' hose, place a 20lb propane tank outside, and run this heater all night with just a small crack in a window or door (just in case!). You will get > 100 hours of heat out of a tank of propane! Less than a buck to run it all night.
Highly recommended under the right circumstances.I use this heater when I camp in my trailer, and it works great especially when used in conjunction with a 20-lb. propane tank. If you do use a 20-lb. tank, however, I STRONGLY recommend that you use the fuel filter (around $10 and yes, this is mentioned in the manual) and also that you always close the propane tank shut-off before turning off the Portable Buddy so that all the gas is burned out. Why? I went through two units that started shutting themselves off about a year after purchase before I found out that oily residue starts building up within the heater when the previous two suggestions are not followed. Even when I tried cleaning it out (I did a complete disassembly), it was not successful unless the control unit and the regulator are replaced as well. I did find a lot of oily mess within contol unit area, but couldn''t get it all so it''s just as easy to replace the entire unit. What happens is that when you turn on the unit, it seems to work; but, as the oily residue works its way up to the flame part, it will start going out on its own the time it takes to go out in my experience was around 1/2 hour. As far as the precautions go, the fuel filter was easy for me to find locally where propane items are sold (farm stores, large sporting goods stores); it is easy to install (it screws into the heater where a 1-lb. bottle would be located and then the hose to the tank screws right into the fuel filter it should last a year). I pick up an extra one once the current one is being used. I''m getting in the habit of shutting off the gas first. I would give this heater 5 stars if they would have explained this malfunction better I ended up talking with tech support before finding out what was actually wrong.
Also, even in very cold weather, I leave about 6" of window open to keep the condensation to a minimum.

Once and for all, here is the purpose of fuel filter for this heater. When you use this heater with a remote tank & rubber hose, it is imperative that you always shut the tank off first & let the heater run until it burns off all the fuel in the lines. YOU MUST DO THIS EVERY TIME. If you simply turn the heater knob to the off position, what you are doing is trapping 100 PSI of propane in the rubber hose. When high pressure propane just sits in your rubber hose, it literally causes the rubber to leetch a light oil that is part of the chemical composition of the rubber. If this oil forms and you have the filter on the heater, the filter will catch it and seperate it from the gas. If you do not have the filter, the oil will quickly work its way into the heater & destroy both the regulator & control valve. The heater can be repaired, but these two components will need to be replaced.Read Best Reviews of Mr. Heater MRHF273400 Buddy Portable LP Gas Heater Here
This heater is perfect for tent camping in larger tents. It''s not too big and pretty stable. We have a large cabin style tent that sleeps 6-8. On our last camping trip to our local Southern California mountains in January 02, the temp at night got down to the mid 30''s. Mr. Heater kept us almost too warm, even on the low setting. Our kids ended up sleeping on top of their sleeping bags. The safety features and BTU range were the deciding factors in our purchase. The low oxygen sensor gave us peace of mind(I still purchased a battery operated Carbon Monoxide sensor for the tent for extra precaution)and the BTU range was good. I could not find any other indoor approved heater that warmed us so well. At first I purchased a infer-red heater that attached to a bulk talk. I found too many reasons why not to use it in the tent(No low O2 sensor, no heat shield, and no low setting). Don''t chance it. Get an 8 to 12 foot extension hose and a bulk tank. The portable tanks won''t last all night. I wouldn''t recommend this heater for small tents(not enough space, not enough air volume, and the potential for Carbon Monoxide problems is too great).Want Mr. Heater MRHF273400 Buddy Portable LP Gas Heater Discount?
After several months of field testing this heater, I found it capable of producing some convenient heat. It competes in a market that includes a lot of products. I have used this heater in a garage, basement and while camping. Some observations:
1. Outside at your campsite, it is easy to light and carry around, and can be a great radiant heater to warm your hands and face on a cold morning without the fuss of building a fire. Inside a five to six person tent, it warmed the space quite nicely on the high setting. In a tent, I would not take a chance to burn it without keeping at least an open space around it and an open eye on it. While the front has a steel grille to shield the user from direct contact with the burning surface, contact with the grille and top of the unit by skin or manmade materials can result in burns or melted items.
2. The heater is PORTABLE, and portability is your friend. It is very easy to pack or carry anywhere. This is a VERY COMPACT unit that will go nearly anywhere. However, It will NOT heat a large unenclosed space, and it is not a blast furnace.
3. One interesting thing that happens when you burn the heater for any length of time in a cool area is that moisture condenses on the outside of the metallic disposable propane cylinder. The condensation eventually turns to frost and if you sit the heater on top of something that can be damaged by water, you definitely want to put an absorbent cloth under the tank to catch any drops of water when it starts to condense or as the frost melts.
4. Since this is an unvented heater, products of combustion such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and some slight odor are released into the heated space; this is common with all such heaters. Adequate oxygen must also be supplied to facilitate burning as well as to sustain life. The low oxygen shutoff is a good safety feature. People with sensitivity to odors or products of combustion would not appreciate this; I have one such person in my household and he has not enjoyed the smell.
5. There is an open flame in the form of the pilot light which sits just in front of the surface of the ceramic plate seen in the picture. The pilot ignites the gas on the surface of the ceramic plate; that is what causes the plate to glow orange. The pilot is lighted by a built-in sparker. I have found the pilot to be harder to light with a propane extension hose attached than with the disposable cylinder on board.
I have used kerosene heaters, catalytic heaters, electric space heaters. All of them produce heat, but this is the handiest heater I have ever used.

If you have a humidifier, it would be unwise to pass up using a demineralization cartridge. It saves you the headache of nasty gunk and mold that builds up in your humidifier. I agree wholehearted with other reviewers about the benefits of using this cartridge. For the first one that I used, it lasted me about 25 or so days (or in short, I noticed little in the way of gunk buildup during that duration of time) before I felt the need to change the cartridge. My second one lasted about the same amount of time as well.
I have to point out, it is very important that you soak the cartridge thoroughly before adding it to your humidifier. For me, after taking it out of the package, I soaked it in a bowl of cold water for about 15 20 minutes before taking it out for use and so far I''ve had no problems whatsoever.
If you want to save yourself some headaches, I strongly recommend using this product in conjunction with your humidifier. This product is amlost impossible to get in local stores. Arrived very quick, in grate shape. Price was good and it saved me tons of time to look at the local vendors. The Filter arrived covered in mold. Needless to say I do not reccomended buying from g&s drug co. Stay away from these guys. The cartridge that came with the vicks humidifier only lasted about 10 fillings (they claim 30-40). I think it would be just as cost effective (and easier) to just buy distilled water to use in the humidifier, and skip the filter cartridge.
Durgol Express Multipurpose Decalcifier Save 5% Off
I''m reluctant to admit I had neglected the regular maintenance of my Carezza espresso machine for a year or two. While waiting for the Durgol Decalcifier to arrive in the mail, I flushed the machine with vinegar and cleaned the parts as described to get the cleaning process started. The machine still didn''t work right. This Durgol product arrived today and I again flushed the machine according to directions, using this decaldifier. I''m amazed at the amount of sludge and disgusting grime that came out! This product is wonderful and has restored my espresso maker.I bought a Capresso glass electric tea kettle and used for the first time spring water as I do prefer this than filtered drinking water for coffee and tea. After several uses, the chrome heating element became so corroded, and this spring water is bottled by the way, so I was forced to do some research. On Amazon I found the above product and tried it. WOW, after following the directions, within a few minutes the chrome bubble in the glass carafe was shiny and new.
I was so impressed I then used it in my Meile washing machine, again very impressive, laundry came out lovely. By the way, the bottle doesn''t say any thing about using it in a washer. In the UK, I can buy Calgon Tablets for this. Here in USA, I could not find Calgon at all for my washer.
Highly recommend this product.

I ran this cleaner through my drip coffee machine and the coffee tastes better... product is good. The bottle asks you to use 1 or 2 cups of cleaner per cleaning; I ran it through with 1 cup for a 12 cup drip machine and it cleaned it well.
I think you have 6 cups of cleaner in one bottle.

There is no mention of the size of any of the Durgol products on your website. In Switzerland, Durgol is sold in half-gallon plastic bottles at a very low price in most supermarkets, inexpensive even even when considering the strong Swiss currency. The espresso cleaner in the U.S. sells for about $6.82 for a 4.2 ozs plastic bottle. This extends to a price of $52.00 per quart or $208 per gallon! The product works very well, in fact just as well as regular white vinegar. After all, just about all mild acids work as well as the hydrochloric acid in Durgol in removing Calcium deposits. The Durgol Multipurpose Decalcifier, a very similar product, comes in an equally mysterious size.
I suggest that Durgol be more honest in the merchandising of its product and not hide the actual size of its products on your website. The pictures on the website are very deceptive.
gsnycCapresso has been recommending this for 15 or more years. I find it very effective and far superior to vinegar or the powders.

This is a cute little humidifier that can be plugged into an outlet or in your computer''s USB port. That''s what attracted me to it, because the air gets so dry in winter in my office I can put this close to me while I am working. I could feel a difference when it was on in a small space. It''s very easy to use, just soak the small wick a couple minutes in water before use and you''re ready to go. It comes with two extra wicks and adapters for your computer and outlet which is very nice. The only complaint is there is no auto off when it''s out of water, so you have to be vigilant. It says you get about 4 hours of use from a full reservoir of water. It''s only about 4 inches wide so it doesn''t get in the way on my desk. So far I really like this innovative product. I don''t think I''ve seen another one just like it anywhere. I would recommend it for office workers or students who are affected by dry heated air in winter.I suffer from dry sore eyes as well as dry skin during the winter as a result of dry heated air. Although I have a whole house humidifier, my eyes still become dry and sore during the night. This little humidifier provides just the additional moisture needed next to my bed at night to prevent my eye problem. It is totally silent in operation and in spite of an advertised 4 hour run time, my experience has been that it runs 8-9 hours if I start with it a bit above the fill line (almost to the top of the fill cup). I use distilled water which I would recommend to avoid scale problems and greatly prolong filter life. Also, with distilled water, no additives are needed. You can purchase distilled water in most grocery stores and since it uses so little, the humidifier will be economical to run. But if you use a de-humidifier in the summer, you can bottle some of its recovered water and get distilled water for free. This is a great product as long as you don''t expect it to humidify a large area. But for a small boost in humidity in a bedroom or office it does a remarkable job for a low price.Buy Homedics Personal Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier Now
This unit works, but that''s about the best I can say. It is simple and cheap and does put out a small stream of vapor. Don''t expect output like a larger unit, but if it is blowing right at you it would be noticeable. Word of warning I ran it out of water overnight and it self-destructed. It burned up and was not repairable. They warn that it does not have low water protection but I didn''t realize it would destroy it. So don''t run it out of water.Read Best Reviews of Homedics Personal Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier Here
I purchased this at a retail store to use in my office. The first time I used it, the reservoir emptied in 2.5 hours. The second and third times it emptied in about 2 hours. The fourth time, I don''t know because I got busy and forgot to keep an eye on the water level. The instructions say never to run it without water. Well, it ran without water and never worked again. Fortunately the retailer gave me a full refund. Only buy this if you can remember to watch the water level closely and remember that it can run dry "quickly".Want Homedics Personal Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier Discount?
I just bought this, thinking it would be great for traveling. I figured I''d try it out before we go, so I soaked the wick for about 3 min, put cool water into it, and plugged it in. At first I thought it seemed great, it was puffing out a good amount of mist. Then about five minutes later, it was just a small stream. I saw water gathered in the output spot, so I wiped it dry with a corner of a paper towel. It again started misting away. Well, I got busy and forgot about it... a few hours later, I saw it was barely misting again, and I dried it off again. It has a small hole that should let the water run back down into the bottom, but doesn''t seem to work. Needless to say, after all day (10 hours), the water had gone down only a tiny bit, so obviously there was not that much humidity added to the air. This will be going back asap.Grill Daddy GB91062S Grill Cleaning Tool Save 35% Off
I am knocking off one star simply because there is a design flaw, but it is easily overcome. When you close tight the fill cap, there is no where for air to enter the handle to allow the water to flow out.
If you remove the cap, it works great, tho I may simply drill a small air hole into the handle somewhere. I am afraid of just loosening it as it may fall into the hot grill during use.
It is better than spashing water with a cup because it releases a small amount of water at the exact moment of the brush''s contact with the grill. You may get similar effect by dipping a SS brush into water each and every stroke, but that sounds like a lot of work as well.
I simply clean the grill while it is still hot just after cooking and even between batches if I see a need. It only take a few seconds and is much easier than turning it on later just to clean it or leaving all that gunk on there until you next want to grill something (and then waiting for it to re-heat again). The added bonus is that it cools down the grill that much faster so I can put the top on again that much sooner.
I have tried many different methods and before this, I had settled on one of those grill cleaning bricks (which, in turn, I had to clean every month or so with a SS scrubber and soapy hot water)
One reviewer of the pro suggested it melted onto the grill. Since SS does not melt, I suspect he was pushing so hard the grill bars went past the bristles and touched the base. There is no need to push that hard at all. Either that or he cleans it with the high flames still on and they reach the plastic. Turn down/off the flames just before using it.
I like that the removeable brush is held into place with a wingnut because other removable heads I have had, had problems with the brush slideing out of the handle while I was using it.
The pro gets better reviews and may be a better design, but this was an impulse buy for me at BBB with one of their 20% off coupons.
Grill Daddy GD12952S Grill Daddy Pro Grill Brush
But then again, the Pro seems like a two handed device, while this only requires one handed use, which I think I prefer. My wife is always looking for ways to make me more helpful around the house. She knows I hate to clean the grill even though I use it a lot. I got tired of buying steel brushes to clean the grill and have them all gummed up in a few weeks. She bought me the Grill Daddy and I finally got around to trying it and it works pretty good. You have to turn the grill on high and you load the Grill Daddy with about a cup of water and you go to work. The water on the hot grill turns to steam and it got my grill looking like new. Now, it didn''t help me with all the other cleaning that I had to do on my Webber gas grill. I still have to spend a Saturday afternoon taking care of all that is below the grill. However, I know I can get the grill clean in a relatively short period of time. I only used it once and I know it came with an extra set of brushes but I don''t think that these brushes will gum up all that soon. (Especially since I don''t clean the grill that often). However, I couldn''t help but see all the gunk on the grill fall away into the drop pan rather than sticking to the brush.

I won this product at my Company''s secret Santa Christmas party. I was hesitant on how well it would work given it''s an "as seen on TV" product. However, it works better than any grill brush I''ve ever used. The brush has 3 small holes located where the bristles are, so as you brush your grill, the movement of the brush causes water to leak out the holes onto the grill. The water helps to steam away cooked on food, and then the brushes scrap it off. It works wonderfully and gets my grill perfectly clean for the next meal. Just make sure you let your grill pre-heat to about 400 degrees, then in about 15 seconds of scrubbing with this brush, it''s perfectly clean and ready to use. I would highly recommend this product.Read Best Reviews of Grill Daddy GB91062S Grill Cleaning Tool Here
Doesn''t operate as advertised! Water did not flow freely out of it and it had little more effect on my grill than a normal grill brush. Would not recommend to anyone. Ordered this a while ago and just used it. I have a weber grill and have had it for years. I have used heavy duty brushes to clean the grill but nothing has done the job this one does. Get the grill nice and hot, fill it up with water and start scraping. The water comes out at a nice pace and along with the brush which is quality it cleans it extremely well. I was impressed how nice a job it does without the heavy or hard scraping. Worth the price.Austin Air Healthmate Jr. Plus Air Purifier
I bought this air purifier for my art studio because it advertised the ability to filter out VOC''s and can absorb gases for chemically sensitive people. As a painter with a poorly-ventilated studio that is next to other artists'' studios, I needed something that would clear the air of painting fumes. So far, the filter has worked great. The air that comes out of it is clean, and I find it is powerful, given it''s size. Once I accidentally left it on over the weekend on the first setting (because you can''t hear it when it is on low) and my studio smelled and felt very clean. The downside is that it does not have a filter change indicator, leaving me clueless as to when the filters should be changed. I assume that if it is working in "dirtier" conditions than the next air filter, it would need changing more often than the stated filter change recommended in the manual. And be assured, the HEPA filter is expensive ($140) and needs to be changed yearly. The prefilters are cheaper ($10) and need to be changed more often.
On its higher setting, it is not a quiet machine, but it is not loud either. It makes an almost inaudible hum with a distinct noise like wind passing through a small space, but it does not bother me -in fact, I find it comforting. The noise is comparable to, if not less than, the Honeywell (I also own). The lesser two settings are very quiet.
The other trivia fact about it that I didn''t know until purchasing it is that the clean air that comes out is directed at a 45 degree angle up and sideways from the vent. I am not sure why it was designed to be that way.
Cuisinart CleanWater 2-Gallon Countertop Water-Filtration System
I bought this and wasn''t sure what to expect. After quite a bit of research I did know this is a smokin deal for a filter which is NSF 42 and 53 certified. (You need that.) I also checked out replacement filter costs and frequency and this unit is very reasonable.Pros: It filters water very well. I live in LA and the tap water is horrid. Both my Husband and I like the taste.
Filters are cheap and easy to instal. Whole thing is SUPER easy to use.
Cons: The Cold and Hot tanks only fill up one glass each before they have to do their thing to make it hot or cold. I was expecting something like a tankless water heater where the water runs past the hot coils. This has tanks...
It takes what seems like a long time to filter but once you get it going and you continually add water to the top you won''t run out.
This is not a con but you should definitely read the instructions on how to treat the filter before installing and using. ;) I didn''t do it right so I just had to drain it and start over. Not that big of a deal.
Overall, I love it. Money well spent!!I own the 2 gallon Cuisinart CleanWater System and have been using it for 3 weeks with no problems. The cold water is cold, and the hot water is HOT. Set up was minimal with the exception of soaking the filter. I have not experienced any leakage or any problems whatsoever. My family has not bought bottled water since we started using this. I really love the design and how it fits neatly in the corner of my kitchen counter tops.

The product works fine in terms of filtering and cooling water, but it''s really LOUD and even in Energy Save Mode, the fan runs almost constantly. After awhile you start to forget about it, since it''s a steady white-noise, but then it stops and you realize how nice and quiet everything just became, only for it to turn back on a few minutes later. You wouldn''t think a major concern about a water filtering system would be the noise, but I''m honestly ready to set it out for Goodwill...Read Best Reviews of Cuisinart CleanWater 2-Gallon Countertop Water-Filtration System Here
It worked fine for the first three weeks. Nice clean water taste, nice cold temperature. Then it stopped cooling the water.
I called Cuisinart, and they said, oh yes, no problem it happens all the time. The cooling unit has frozen and just needs to thaw. Unplug it and leave it off for several hour to thaw.
Hmmm, I thought it''s brand new, and I have to unplug it to work properly? Not a good sign.
Replace it with a new one? Maybe but that means pack it, pay for the shipping to return and the shipping for the replacement.
Since I unplugged it, the water has been tasting extremely like plastic. So tonight I called Cuisinart again.
They said, oh yes, no problem it happens all the time. If the water tastes like plastic, just flush the system with eight cups of pure lemon juice.
I don''t have eight cups of pure lemon juice on hand, so who knows how this will be resolved.
But a word to the wise if you do buy this lovely device, budget some measure of your time for troubleshooting.

I was looking for a non-abrasive cleaner and this filled the bill. I will be ordering more of this product.I recieved the product right away but the can was damaged. The product was not packaged well and the powder was all over the box wth the seal broken and the can was crushed on one end. I called the number listed to report any damage as soon as I saw the mess. The person on the other end was quite curt(not a great rep of customer service). The woman took my information(again very curt) and said they''d send another can to me right away. I realized problems can occur but an item like this should be wrapped and sealed and then bubble wrapped before putting into packing box. This looks like it was wrapped in a bit of clear duck tape and tossed in a box. I will see how the replacement arrives.
