Aqua-Pure AP910R Whole House Replacement Filter Cartridge Save 12% Off

Aqua-Pure AP910R Whole House Replacement Filter Cartridge, For AP902 Water Filter System
  • High-capacity cartridge filters up to 100,000 gallons of water before replacement
  • Polyester filtration material reduces particulate as small as five microns in size
  • Quick-change style means no-tools replacement
  • High flow rate provides 20 gallons (75.7 liters) of filtered water per minute
  • Sanitary cartridge design keeps filter material enclosed during change-out

This is a replacement filter for a whole house water filter system. The filter is good for 100,000 gallons or 1 year. At the end of the year I began looking for a replacement.

These come in two versions sediment only, and sediment plus chlorine and other filtering, the latter being more expensive. These filters were not easy to find; I assume they''re either uncommon or new. Eventually I found them at various suppliers and also on Amazon.

Amazon''s price was not the lowest. But with Prime 2-day delivery, I bought on Amazon anyway. Delivery was more like 4-5 days, unusual. The filter comes with a separate 1-year timer. Start the timer, and a year later it begins to beep. Replacement of this filter is easy takes 5-10 minutes.

I''m giving the product 3 stars because of its price and the longer than normal delivery time. Next time I''ll re-check competing prices.

Durgol Swiss Espresso Special Decalcifier Save 5% Off

Durgol Swiss Espresso Special Decalcifier, 2-Pack 4.2 fluid ounce BottlesThere''s not much to say if you own an espresso machine, you need this. Every time the machine boils water, any minerals fall out of solution the harder your water the more minerals resulting in sluggish performance as the heating element now has to heat through "stone". Used regularly, your machine will run as good as new, without the horrible smell and aftertastes of other decalcifiers, such as vinegar.

I used this descaler on my Tassimo machine. I worked fine and I am sure did the trick.

I wanted to write this review to warn everyone out there that this product will stain your granite counter tops. I had no idea. I set the bottle on my black granite and later found a stain in the shape of the ring left behind from the solution. Needless to say that I am totally bummed and saddened that my granite is ruined. If anyone knows how to fix this problem, please let me know!

Thanks.

This is the descaler recommended by my espresso maker. It works well, kind of expensive (well anything would be expensive compared to vinegar and water). I use the discarded solution to soak inside my electric teakettle before discarding so I do get twice the use out of each bottle. Recommend buying in multiple quantities to save on shipping.

Zuvo ZBF10S Butler Faucet Kit Save 10% Off

Zuvo ZBF10S Butler Faucet Kit, Stainless Steel Finish
  • For cold water connection only
  • Fits any single hole application
  • Traditionally Styled
  • Ideal for entertainment or preparation areas also

This butler kit is designed for the Zuvo water "purlator". It looks quite stylish, and the handle can be held down for a burst of water, or lifted up, where it locks in place until you push it down, thus providing continuous water flow.

The only issue I have is that when you let go of the handle, the water gradually dribbles to a stop, rather than shutting completely down instantly. I find this a bit frustrating, in that I will either be wasting water or my time. That is why I gave it four instead of five stars.

This kit is needed if you have the kind of faucet which is removable; ours has a spray head on a flexible hose instead of a fixed faucet. Hence my need for this device.

I would suggest professional installation, especially if you have to drill a hole in the sink, which was required in my situation. I also had the plumber drill a hole in the counter, so that I could have the Zuvo above the sink rather than under the sink in the (included) bracket.

Buy Zuvo ZBF10S Butler Faucet Kit Now

I bought this thru Amazon about 10 months ago. I drilled the hole in the sink and did the proper installation, following instructions very precisely.

It''s a terrible product in terms of the plumbing valve design/function. It leaks constantly as is noted by another reviewer..in fact in a steady, slow stream. I checked, rechecked, tightened, reposiitioned, etc. After 6 months, I finally installed a separate stop valve with longer tubing inserted between the faucet and the ZUVO supplied special pipe tap shut off valve to make it easy to reach under the sink to turn the faucet on and off. The pipe tap works fine to shut off flow but is inaccessible except when you reach below the sink all the way to the back where the cold water supply line runs. Don''t buy it unless you are looking at significant plumbing modifications to compensate for the lousy internal valve design at the fuacet end!!!

BTW, despite all that, the water tastes great even tho it''s a chore to fill the carafe for the refrigerator (as mentioned above.)

We''ve had our Zuvo Butler Faucet Kit with our Zuvo Purator for 6 months. I have no complaints. The unit was fairly easy to install for a new homeowner with absolutely no plumbing knowledge (we already had a hole in the sink from an unused soap dispenser).

6 months later, the unit is still working just as well as it did from day one. It''s so wonderful to get rid of filter pitchers from taking up valuable counter and refrigerator real estate!

I only take a way one star because it does not shut off immediately when you let up on the lever... it sort of dribbles to a stop. But I would buy it again if I needed to and I highly recommend it for use with the Zuvo Purator.

This faucet was delivered after a little delay (must be from shipping into Canada). It was easy to install based on the instructions. I already had the filter but wanted to mount it under the sink; this allowed for the under sink mount. It is more than just simple water faucet due to the nature of the Zuvo filter.

Soleus Air PH3-12R-03, Portable Air Conditioner/Heater/Dehumidifier/Fan Save 46% Off

Soleus Air PH3-12R-03, Portable Air Conditioner/Heater/Dehumidifier/Fan, 12,000 BTUsDespite all the negative reviews of this unit on Amazon.com, I found several other positive reviews elsewhere on the internet, and so I decided to give it a try. I''ll admit I was skeptical as to how this unit would perform, especially since it seemed to be much less expensive than other 12,000 BTU units AND it included heat pump functionality. That being said, I am quite pleased with its performance so far.

After the terrible process of having to return a damaged portable AC unit of another brand just a week earlier, I was relieved to see when this one arrived at my door in rather robust packaging. Lifting it out of its "easy open" outer box and inner cardboard crate, I was able to observe its features in person for the first time. The multi-color display is a nice touch; the bright VFD display provides simple animations of the unit''s current function, as well as a basic clock (used for setting the on/off timer), and the current temperature setting. The remote control sits in a holster on the back of the unit. I found the remote to be a bit bland, with all the buttons but the power button the same size and no distinction of the most frequently used buttons (i.e. temperature, mode) from the less frequently used extras (i.e. sleep mode, Celsius/Fahrenheit setting). The use of the remote is limited anyways since the display on the unit sits facing upward, preventing you from seeing what you are doing unless you are hovering above it.

Installation is pretty straightforward. The user''s manual includes several photographs of the installation process, which doesn''t differ much from any single-hose portable AC on the market. You simply screw the hose into the adapters and attach the adapters onto the back of the unit and onto the adjustable panel which you close in your window.

So now the important part: how it works. I found the unit to perform quite well. The AC function is plenty cool, and with three fan settings, you can adjust the level of output (and noise) to the current conditions. The heat pump also works well, and I was impressed with the fact that the unit waits to start blowing air into the room until the heat pump has begun generating warm air. That way, on a cold winter''s day you won''t get a rush of cold air in your face while the unit starts up. After your set temperature is reached, the unit shuts down completely (including the fan). Perhaps handy for some people is an auto mode which automatically heats if the temperature is below 68°F, dehumidifies if the temperature is between 68°F and 80°F, and cools if over 80°F. There also is an oscillation feature which helps circulate the air into the room.

As others have said, this AC unit is not super quiet. While in fan-only mode, the noise is minimal, but while heating, cooling, or dehumidifying, the exhaust fan in the back of the unit adds a considerable amount more. While nobody will be fooled into thinking a jet is landing, some may find it difficult to sleep with the unit in the room if it is doing anything but circulating air.

Just another quick note about draining the water bucket... be prepared to empty it no less often than most air conditioning units, regardless of what the manufacturer claims it can evaporate through the hose. I also agree with others who have said that the drainage plug is really close to the ground, so you may want to place it on a hard surface or elevate it slightly to assist in the drainage process. You do get a short hose and drip pan in the box to help you empty the moisture into a larger pan, but you may want to keep a towel handy as well.

Overall, this air conditioner/heat pump unit is a economical choice if you need all-season comfort in an area of your home. Various room-size estimations abound, some even rating this unit up to 500 sq. ft. My suggestion is that you use this unit for no more than a single large room, as you will probably see much worse performance if you try to heat or cool an entire floor with it. But for supplemental heating or cooling, you really cannot go wrong with the Soleus Air PH3-12R-03.

Got this unit today and for some reason the unit itself was covered in grease, something like a motor oil.

Anyway, set it up and powered on, after 2 hr running, the unit was blow AIR only even on COLD mode.

Called Amazon to get unit return and they told me I will have to pay $60 $80 return shipping charge for defective unit.

I will never buy and electric unit from Amazon again. I never have any problem to get full refund from other online retailer.

Buy Soleus Air PH3-12R-03, Portable Air Conditioner/Heater/Dehumidifier/Fan Now

I just bought this 3 weeks ago. After numerous window units I thought I would try a portable unit so I could direct the air where I wanted it. First of all this unit was difficult to install. The directions were terrible. I have had a lot less problem with my previous window units. 12,000 BTU''s should cool my entire living/dining room. It works okay if you are directly in front of it, but 8-10 feet away just so so. It is as loud as any window unit I have had. It does not cool down to lowest temp so compressor is always on. After running it quite a bit for three days I just had to drain the condensation holding tank which was an experience in and of itself! The plug is on the bottom about a half inch from the floor. It is below the hose so you have to remove that. When you remove the cap, there is no type of plug, so the water immediately begins pouring into the pitiful plastic drainage tray that is provided that holds about 1/2 cup at the most. With a 1.5 liter tank to drain you need to also have a bucket or a bowl and plenty of towels as I found it impossible to stop the flow trying to empty the tray of water into the bucket. Long story short, don''t waste your money. Way to expensive for the hassle. I''m going to go have a beer and make up with my dogs who are quivering outside after hearing my yelling of obscenities during the drainage process.

This air conditioner/heater/dehumidifier is highly overrated by the manufacturer. 12,000 BTU should make your home feel like a refrigerator. It doesn''t! It doesn''t come close to the air cooling capacity of window units with less than half this rating. The drainage outlet is located way too close to the floor thereby not allowing for a hose to drain properly without elevating the unit. While there is a condensation overflow tank drainage again is an issue. I ran the unit for a solid eight hours at the lowest temperature setting/highest fan speed and the first floor of my small home was only marginally cooler. I was very disappointed as I had hoped this was the answer to both my cooling and heating needs.

I had this AC unit for less than 1 months and it now SCREAMS! due to a bad pump. The manufacturer said they would "look at it" but I had to pay the shipping cost to ship to them in CA. Not worth the cost of the shipping, Total waste of money. NEVER buy from Soleus! Crap manufacturing, cheap plastic parts. poor warranty service. $400 just thrown away for something that only work for 2 months at best! I''d give zero stars if I could! SPT SD-30E 30-Pint Dehumidifier Save 31% Off

SPT SD-30E 30-Pint Dehumidifier with Energy StarI have been using this dehumidifier for several weeks. It does what it is supposed to, and is somewhat quieter than the one it replaced, which I appreciate. I also like how the air filter is designed so it is simply pulled out of the side of the unit for cleaning.

This dehumidifier seems to work well if you can empty the reservoir regularly. Since we are out of our house for months at a time, I need to attach a hose so the water will run out. Our first dehumidifier lasted only three years (a Zenith ZD30)so we needed a new one. When I wanted to set a hose up for continuous water flow, the hose provided was too short and too narrow. I couldn''t attach it to the exit nozzle. I went to Home Depot (I bought it through Home Depot online) and asked if they had any ideas for me. After some thought, we decided to take a thicker hose.

I ended up using the thicker hose from HD and a hose clamp to attach it to the nozzle. Since the presence of the hose clamp does not allow the water reservoir to be inserted correctly, I needed to tape the lever (the lever the tells the machine that the reservoir is inserted correctly) with cardboard and duct tape.

I did use the tiny piece of hose pipe that was provided when I inserted it into the garden hose that leads to the shower. Then I inserted the tiny hose into the Home Depot hose, thereby making a leak-free communication of hoses.

In the end, the machine works fine, but you will need to make some significant modifications if you want the condensation to flow out continuously.

Purchased the dehumidifier 1 year ago for use in the basement. I attached a hose for continous use. Turned it on and have left it on for the year. Automatically defrosts as necessary. Maintains a consistent humidity. It is a little loud when in defrost due to running higher air flow rate, but no a problem.

I have a semi-submerged basement that gets a little muggy, particularly in the summer, so I purchased this unit not even a year ago to help keep the area comfortable. While the unit ran fine for about 9-10 months, it promptly began to malfunction as it neared the one year mark. Condensation appeared on the right side of the unit and frost began to collect on the coils. I have let it defrost several times, but the ice always reappears, and actually gets so thick that it makes removing the bucket and filters difficult. While it''s true that I used this appliance almost constantly, I think if I pay 200 dollars plus for a device it should function reliably for more than a year.

I ordered this brand because of the Energy Star rating. we always try to do a small bit to conserve energy for our growing world. It is a bit loud as described in other reviews so I wouldn''t recommend for your living area, but we use it in the basement and that is not a problem. I wish that it had a larger capacity tank as we need to change it 2x a day. There is a ''work-around'' in that it has a setup for constant drainage but we have no place to drain into so we will put up with the small tank. At least it has an automatic shut-off should the tank reach capacity. Our old Sears reconditioned dehumidifier lasted 20 years, so we hope that we can get close to that with this one. I would, so far, recommend this brand and model to anyone with the caveats of this review and others. At least, now, our lights don''t dim each time a dehumidifier cycles on like the old one.

Chemex Classic Series Glass Coffeemaker Save 19% Off

Chemex Classic Series Glass Coffeemaker, 3 cup capacityThis product does not plug into an outlet, has no buttons and doesn''t beep when ready. If you''re not willing to pour hot water over coffee grounds, this probably isn''t the system for you. But if you''re willing to put in a little extra effort for a lot of extra flavor, read on.

I had a traditional coffee maker, one that allows the grinds to sit in a cupcake filter inside a plastic container while near boiling water filters through. Hot water --> plastic --> consumption is probably not good. That coffee maker now resides in the break room of an office building.

I also have a french press, which makes pretty decent non-plastic coffee, but I don''t like the grittiness of my frequent "cowboy" cups. So I reserved the french press for my tea, and started looking at other coffee brewing systems. The Aerobie Aeropress is hailed to make the perfect cup of coffee, but I ran into the heated plastic issue again. So that was out.

Chemex just makes sense. It''s a simple design that comes in different sizes. You must use the Chemex filters, which are easy to fold into the required conical shape. Directions give a 5oz. water to 1 T. coffee ratio (I like my coffee a bit stronger, though). I have instant hot water (they recommend 200F), and find this temp works perfectly, so I don''t have to heat my water in a kettle first. Chemex really highlights the blooming process in making coffee, and this is such an important step for flavor extraction.

It really makes a smooth, rich cup of coffee (granted, the quality of coffee depends on the quality of beans you use--and grind immediately before brewing!). I bought the glass lid, and please know that it DOES NOT FIT THIS SMALL MODEL. Cleanup is super easy--just rinse and invert to air dry.

Summary: 5 stars for the coffee. 2 stars for this carafe and the troublesome wooden collar. Steer clear and buy the other 3 cup Chemex with the glass handle!

Detail: The coffee you''ll get from a Chemex system is all that''s promised! I bought the 3-cup carafes with wood collar based on the glowing reviews. Also invested in four boxes of filters to stock up for the year; all-in that''s a lot of money for "morning joe", but I prescribe to the old notion that life is too short for bad coffee.

Yep, the coffee is great. But the clean-up process is extremely annoying in that you must untie the leather thong and remove the wooden collar sections to fully do the job. You can just rinse the interior after each use but then exterior stays a little greasy. Chemex advises that the wood should not get wet. Still the yield from the system was good enough to warrant the extra bother.

Then, after three weeks use, I noticed a growing fissure/crack in the glass right in the notched channel in the pouring spout. I''ve returned the item for credit and replaced it with the Chemex 3 cup carafe with the *glass* handle.

I like that one much better already, both for cleaning ease and because the glass handle does not heat up. The wooden collar insulated the carafe okay, but still got pretty hot to the touch.

I''m following the Chemex''s instructions to the letter so I''m assuming the glass cracking was just one of those things. Should this new one crack within the first few months for any reason other than mishandling I may abandon the system. I hope not because it makes fine coffee and I''m a tough judge.

When combined with the Chemex filter paper, this little coffee maker makes superb drip coffee. I heat 16 oz of water in the microwave in a measuring cup and pour the water into the coffee in the filter paper about 5-6 ozs at a time. The filter paper really does a great job removing bitterness from the coffee.

Years ago a friend of mine showed me how to make the best tasting coffee. He took a plain piece of paper towel from a kitchen roll and laid it on the top of a regular coffee mug. He put a couple of spoonfuls of ordinary ground coffee in the towel and slowly poured hot water over the coffee until the mug was full. It was a delicate and somewhat messy operation, but it was the best coffee I ever tasted. The Chemex coffee maker achieves the same results in a more organized fashion with far superior paper filters that were specifically designed for drip brewed coffee. This is the easiest and best way to make coffe by far. The Costa Ricans use a similar method and that speaks for itself.

This is a wonderful coffee maker, absolutely the best cup of home-brewed coffee I''ve ever had and I would have given it five stars; HOWEVER, the three-cup model is made of thin glass and isn''t very wide, so it tips over easily. I have so far had three of this model and all have broken within a year in the sink. I am ordering the six-cup model with the hope that the larger diameter of the base will prevent such easy breakage. Otherwise, this is an ideal way to make great coffee for just yourself.

Everpure EV9282-00 H-1200 Drinking Water System

Everpure EV9282-00 H-1200 Drinking Water System
  • Reduces the following contaminants: lead, cysts such as giardia lambila, and cryptosporidium
  • Removes chlorine taste and odor, dirt and cloudiness, mold and algae and particles 1/2-Micron and larger in size
  • Removes volatile organic chemicals (vocs), including THMS and delivers bacteriostatic control
  • Inhibits limescale build-up in water-using appliances; easy to install using household common tools
  • Finely polishes treated water to premium quality for drinking and cooking; a lower operating cost that is below the price of bottled water

Easy to install, excellent filtering and no loss of pressure after a few quarts. We previously had a Whirlpool R.O. system from Lowes and before that one from Sears. We had them for years and they both had problems. Every few months we had to replace something and not just the filters. Not fun to take apart, lots of hoses, etc. The Everpure system has no tank and only two lines, one in and one out. I have tested the water and it is actually cleaner than the old R.O. system.

Another huge advantage is the lack of pressurized tank. This system works with the water pressure you have in your cold water line. If you use the water to cook or draw water for two large dogs, as we do, it was frustrating to draw a few quarts and have the pressure drop to a trickle until the tank could be replenished. Everpure always has the same flow. In addition, this system doesn''t waste water trying to make clean water as the R.O. system did.

We have had the Everpure for several months now and we would recommend it highly. It is everything I had hoped for.

KRUPS XP1500 Coffee Maker and Espresso Machine Combination Save 50% Off

KRUPS XP1500 Coffee Maker and Espresso Machine Combination, BlackI am a self-confessed coffee junkie. With or w/o the caffeine (pregnancy and such) I love the taste; and the taste of the coffee that I''ve brewed with this machine was great. Loved it, loved it, loved it. The machine was easy to use and looked pretty darn cool sitting there on my counter. The only issue that i have is that the espresso side seems to need some encouragement. The knobs need to be fiddled with a bit in order to get the espresso to start dripping (even after 10 minutes during a holiday party full of thirsty coffee drinkers). Thought that was just b/c my machine was so new, but it''s been doing that ever since the first use. Still, it''s not terribly difficult, and the coffee is oh-so-yummy!

If you want to make espresso like you''ll pay $2.00/shot at a coffee house, this machine isn''t for you. If you want a coffee pot/espresso combo in the $100 range, you will get the best value with this combo. I can make a very good latte with it, and a fairly decent shot of espresso -and very good coffee. The negative reviews I''ve read seem to be from two types: 1) Those who really need to spend more to get a beautiful golden crema-topped shot of espresso. I understand, but it can''t be had for this price. 2) Those who don''t know how to use it properly.

For a latte, you''ll need to have finely ground espresso, a stainless steel frothing pitcher, and cold milk (2% or non-fat work best). Remove the rubber end to the frothing nozzle -I never use it, and that may be one of the problems other reviewers have. Follow the instructions in the manual to fill your water reservoir and your espresso filter. Fill your frothing pitcher no more than halfway with milk. Turn the dial on the left to the "cup" setting, and as soon as your first drop of espresso falls, switch the dial to the frothing setting, and start frothing your milk. Keep the nozzle low in the pitcher, just heating -not frothing. Hold the pitcher in your hand and keep heating the milk until the pitcher is just about too hot to hold -(or you could buy a thermometer, but this works just as well, and for the price-conscious does the trick), then move the pitcher lower, letting the nozzle just skimming along the top of the milk. This will start your foam growing, and it will not take long before your pitcher is about to overflow. At that point, switch the dial back to the "cup" setting, and your espresso shot will fall. When all is done, pour your shot of espresso in a cup, add the milk, top with the foam, and add a little cocoa powder or cinnamon or your choice -and maybe even a drop or two of vanilla extract. You''re good to go. A delicious latte, at an extremely low price.

(I explained the above because the instructions in the manual are not that good, and I don''t have the time to build a how-to video. I hope it was helpful.)

We love this machine. We have limited space and need to have both a coffee maker and a cappucino maker in that space. We have had none of the difficulties that others mention. But we did take the black plastic sleeve off of the frother and that has made a huge difference. With it on we got bubbles. Now we get great froth. And if we pack the espresso well we get an excellent crema. It is a $100 machine that makes both coffee and espresso. It is not going to be like a $1000 Starbucks machine. We set our expectations appropriately and were delighted.

My wife doesn''t drink coffee, so it is appropriate to say "I" received the XP1500 as a wedding gift. Like others, the SECOND TIME I made espresso, the handle cracked on the espresso grounds holder from the normal pressure of turning it into place. Customer service assured me that they could do nothing unless I had the receipt. This was two years ago, and the machine was a brand new item, so there should have been no question to the age of the machine for warranty purposes, but I had no receipt since it was a wedding gift. They wouldn''t even pay the shipping for a new holder. In short, they wouldn''t budge, and if I wanted a new grounds holder, I would have to pay full cost to do so. So I kept it, being very careful over the last couple of years to not turn it too hard. Today, it broke further, rendering it useless. To be fair, I have tried to make espresso and cappucino many times, but I have never been able to get a truly good cup from this machine.

Other problems: the frother is too low. You need to angle the milk cup too much to be useful. A half cup of cold milk will turn into a counter full of frothed milk when it''s done.

You''re better off researching all products and choosing one that is made with better materials, has better reveiws for the quality of the resultant coffee, and going with a company that has BETTER CUSTOMER SUPPORT. There''s a reason that "customers who purchased this product also purchased..." "...REPLACEMENT ITEMS!!!"

We replaced a Krup coffee/espresso combo which we purchased about 12 years ago. What a wonderful machine! Unfortunately, this model was no longer available. The model #985 was the recommended replacement. However, it doesn''t even come close.

1) The basket for the coffee filter is too small in diameter for the filter, causeing grounds to fall into the brew. The basket also leaks, giving you a countertop lake to start your morning.

2) The espresso is okay provided you don''t want a cappuccino. The froth attachment is so low and it is difficult to get the milk pitcher under the spigot. The milk froths very quickly, and your container is overflowing with foam while the milk is still cold. It''s okay only if you froth enough milk for 1, maybe 2 shots, but if you need milk for the full pot (4 shots), you''ll need to froth milk one-half at a time.

The pot is will soon be available for sale at our local Goodwill.

Delonghi Esam5400 Digital Super Automatic Machine Espresso/coffee/latte/cappuccino

Delonghi Esam5400 Digital Super Automatic Machine Espresso/coffee/latte/cappuccinoAfter many years of home barista-ing and many machines, I wanted a change: I wanted a cleaner counter without knock boxes and grounds everywhere and Cafiza and backflushing and mess. It has exceeded my expectations. I drink a traditional cappuccino. Yes, the foam is the tall style shaving foam, rather than the silky microfoam, but I''ve learned to live with that, and the Delonghi foams better than my Gaggias, though it takes a bit longer. The steam wand is very easy to clean and does not clog. Setting the machine to the finest grind, and setting it to the highest strength and highest temp, my cappas are perfect -absolutely delicious. Yes, it''s essentially thermoblock and pressurized, but I prefer the cappas'' flavor to what I had with a much more expensive setup. The machine holds plenty of beans, and cleans itself superbly every time. It''s a design marvel and easy to use. I''m happy I didn''t get the model with the milk container, because the steaming is very easy to do myself, and using a thermometer, I can make sure the steamed milk is the temp I want. The main negative for me is that I wish the water container were one inch wider [and hence the machine one inch wider] which would have significantly increased the volume of water it contained: I find myself refilling the water often, compared to emptying pucks or refilling beans, which is rare. Overall, I''m very happy I went for this Perfecta.

This machine is AMAZING! I have never tasted smoother, richer coffee ever ... not even in coffee shops. It is so easy to use and within minutes you can have espresso, latte, cappuccino or americano coffee. I used to use a french press, have tried ordinary percolators and have used a pod machine, but this coffee maker gets 10 out of 5 stars if I could rate it as such! You can make coffee from beans (the machine grinds as much as is required automatically) or you can add ground beans yourself. You can choose which strength of coffee you want as well as which volume. I will never go back to the other methods of coffee making! The only thing is ... we''re all drinking way too much delicious coffee now!

Buy Delonghi Esam5400 Digital Super Automatic Machine Espresso/coffee/latte/cappuccino Now

I have had this machine for nearly a year and it has been a great purchase for me--like most things, there is a bit of a learning curve but it is fairly steep. The espresso made is quite good and the machine is very solid. The foaming process for cappucinos and lattes is very easy to learn and makes a very attractive drink. Delonghi offers a two year warranty which is the best I''ve seen--fortunately I haven''t needed it yet, but it''s nice to know it''s there. The only downside at all is that it is a bit loud and the water reservoir requires fairly frequent filling, but neither one of these bothers me very much at all--I mention it simply for the sake of completeness. For the money, I think this machine is probably the best on the market, especially if you like the convenience and simplicity of not having to grind your own beans, tamp, etc. Highly recommended!

I use this machine for about two weeks and I like it so far. It makes a great espresso in just 30 seconds with one touch of a button. I also tried making cappuccinos a few times and they were OK, but the steam wand is a bit short, leaving not much space between machine and the wand itself. For those who complain about cold coffee, I''d say: read the manual, people. Coffee temperature can be adjusted, and it is not on the highest setting initialy. Also, if you use fine porcelain or bone china cups, or ever paper cups (ugh!), they would not cool your drink as much as regular stoneware mugs.

An ex-boyfriend had a super-automatic coffee/espresso maker, which inspired me to (finally!) replace my old drip machine. It took me a while to decide, because there are so many with complaints about poor customer service and needing to be sent away for long periods of time for servicing, and they are mostly very pricey. This one is perfect (so far, knock wood). It works great and doesn''t take up too much room on the counter (unlike the ex-boyfriend''s, which was HUGE!) The water reservoir is a bit small, which I guess is why it doesn''t take up too much room, so I can''t really complain. I set the machine on "medium" strength and it''s strong enough for me (I like it pretty strong), so that bodes well for entertaining my European friends who drink coffee that looks like tar. I did already call customer service because I couldn''t find the instructions on how to test water hardness (it''s there, I just couldn''t find it) and they were very helpful.

I was a little concerned when the box arrived looking like it had detoured through Afghanistan (I suspect that''s the USPS''s fault, not the seller''s), but the machine is completely unscathed.

Water Infuser

Water InfuserI like water but sometimes I need a little bit of flavor diversity. This is a great option for infusing your water with flavor.

Originally, I was thinking about purchasing the Prodyne Fruit Infusion 93-Ounce Natural Fruit Flavor Pitcher. It is a pitcher with a built-in infuser. While most of the reviews for the Prodyne Fruit Infusion 93-Ounce Natural Fruit Flavor Pitcher were positive, the negative reviews complained of cracking. As I thought more about the potential purchase of the Prodyne pitcher, I realized that I had four pitchers in my house and I had no interest in another, especially one that might be prone to cracking.

I came upon the Jokari water infuser and it is great. Yes, a person could slice some individual pieces of lemon or lime in a glass. I do that a lot but I use the Jokari water infuser when I want to have a larger quantity of infused water waiting and ready for me as I become thirsty throughout the day. It is easy to mix a combination of fruit and herbs and place them in the ball to infuse water. The infuser is quite ample; I''d say it is about the size of a softball.

I will note that the slits on the infuser are fairly large so if you choose herbs, they themselves need to be larger. For example, If you use mint, the leaves should be relatively whole (even though a few leaves in your water will not harm you). Additionally, the clasp on the infusing ball appears like it could become unhinged, but I have never had the infuser open on its own.

I think this is a good product. If you want to drink more water, try infusing your water with the flavors of different fruits and herbs. If you have pitchers lying around in your kitchen, don''t buy another one. Just get an infuser, like the Jokari water infuser, to use with the pitchers you have.

This product is made in China.

If you''re trying to drink more water and quit drinking sugary drinks, buy this. There are endless possibilities to what you can do to make water taste good. So far we''ve done apples, grapes, cranberies, and limes can''t wait to try cucumbers or maybe tea leaves.

This works just as advertised. Fruit flavored water without the added chemicals or sugar. I thought that the fruit flavor might be too subtle, but that has proven to not be the case. Now I have fruit flavored water that is all natural readily available all the time. It is a great substitute for more chemically laden waters or more sugary options.

This is such a great idea!! My mother loves lemon water, but no one else does. She can now have a whole pitcher of water without having fruit float around in her water!

Pentek EP-20 Carbon Block Filter

Pentek EP-20 Carbon Block Filter, 5 Micron
  • 5 Micron Carbon Briquette, combining the long filter life of carbon block with the dirt-hold capacit
  • High porosity design helps prevent plugging
  • Perfect for residential, food service, commercial and industrial applications
  • Manufactured entirely from FDA-compliant materials

THESE ARE GOOD FILTERS AT A GOOD PRICE. I BOUGHT MINE AT AMAZON.COM FOR ABOUT $20.00 EACH. MY WATER IS CLEAR AND ODOR FREE. WHEN THEY SAY CARBON BLOCK THEY MEAN CARBON BLOCK THE FILTER IS ONE SOLID PIECE OF CARBON. ONE BORKE IN SHIPMENT. I STILL USED IT. I PUT THE 2 PIECES BACK TOGHETER. WHEN THE FILTER HOUSING SCREWS ON IT TIGHTENED UP ON THE 2 PIECES AND HELD THEN IN PLACE QUITE WELL. [ABOUT 3." BROKE OFF ONE END.] THERE IS A FINE MESH ARROUND THE OUTSIDE WHICH TAKES OUT THE PARTICALE AND MAKES THE CARBON LAST LONGER. THE CARBON TAKES OUT THE TASTE AND ODORS. I HAVE WELL WATER WHICH IS PRETTY CLEAN TO START WITH BUT I WANTED THE ADDED INSURANCE OF THE CARBON FILTER. I HAVE IT IN A WHOLE HOUSE FILTER HOUSING IN THE BASEMENT. I PLAN ON CHANGING IT ONCE A YEAR OR WHEN THE PRESSURE DROP ACROSS THE FILTER INCREASES ABOUT 6 TO 8 PSI. I HAVE A PRESSURE GAGE BEFORE AND AFTER THE FILTER SO I CAN SEE WHEN THE PRESSURE DROP STARTS TO INCREASE. I CHECK THE PRESURE WITH ONE FAUCET [THE KITCHEN FAUCET] WIDE OPEN.

I live on the Big Island where rainwater catchment is a big thing. Utilizing a 20micron sediment then having this Pentek 5micron carbon block after it is so perfect. That is the typical steps needed if you plan on using UV purification (so you can drink your rainwater!

If the particulate size is larger than 5micron, you will not have the proper disinifection through the UV sterilizer. I have been utilizing this setup (20 micron sediment to a 5micron carbon block to UV lights) for 4 years with success! I change my filters once every 3 months.

Rubbermaid 20-Ounce Filtration Personal Bottle (Blue) Save 20% Off

Rubbermaid 20-Ounce Filtration Personal Bottle -BlueI bought this bottle so that I could stop buying cases of water. There were so many empty bottles of water in my car it looked like I had a problem. I really wanted something that would allow me to have filtered water anywhere. I read the reviews on the Bobble and the Brita filtered bottles, but many complained about noise and leaking. I found this in my grocery store and when I couldn''t find a lot of reviews online I decided to take a chance on it. I''m glad I did.

Love this water bottle. I waited to write this review until I took it to work with me as I believed that to be a true test of the filter. The tap water where I work is disgusting and tastes like copper soaked in chlorine. This water bottle turns the nasty water at work into bottled water taste.

In addition:

-The screw on cap that is attached to the finger loop keeps the mouthpiece sanitary without having to keep track of a little plastic cap

-soft, squeezable, but durable feeling plastic that is also BPA free

-sounds like a squeezable water bottleit''s not silent, but I haven''t noticed any weird ''wooshing'' or hissing that reviews have commented about other filtered bottles.

-No leaking whatsoever!

-Clicker wheel on the bottom of the filter helps you keep track of when to change it

This bottle is going to save me so much money and waste. I can''t wait to take it camping in Julythere''s tap water for drinking at the campground and this will save us from lugging bottled water to the campsite.

I bought the two-bottle and extra filter set as a starter; we wanted to test this design. The decision to start with this product was based on comments on this Web site as well as others. After using it for two weeks taking it to school, shopping, and sailing with us, I decided to purchase two more because this product design and performance met our needs and fit into our life style.

We love the design:

1). The two cap system is easy to work with-you don''t unscrew the filter when you want to unscrew the drinking cap or refill the bottle;

2). The filter is easy to prime and to replace;

3). The bottle does not leak even when tilted upside down: you can suck out the water or squeeze the bottle; either way works well;

4). The plastic is durable and can be squeezed without damage or puckering;

5). It fits into our vehicle''s cup holders (Hyundai and Ford SUV);

6). You can refill the bottle easily; the mouth is wide enough and the strap holds on to both the drinking cap and the filter section; it doesn''t fall off the bottle at all!

7). Durable plastic works well on the boat.

We love the quality (taste of water) it provides:

1). The water tastes great: no chemical smells or taste-and we refilled using harbor/marina taps as well as public parks, office and school drinking fountains, and our home tap.

2). No particles penetrate the filter.

I bought this bottle just because it was only $10 and I was curious to see how well filter bottles work. I was pleasantly surprised when I first used it, as tap water in my area isn''t exactly great for drinking, and this bottle made tons of difference! It greatly improves the taste of the tap water, and it has encouraged me to drink more as I no longer have to pop open a bottle of water every time I want a drink. I can just refill straight from the tap, and I''m sure in the end I will be saving a lot of money. The top does not leak (unlike other types of filter bottles), and the stream of water is always strong with minimal effort (again, unlike others). And, at $10, it''s not that big of an investment. Filters last a couple months, and a 2 pack of replacements is also $10. Definitely worth a try.

After looking at the CamelBak and Brita filter bottles I decided to get this one because of all the positive reviews. I am glad to say I have not been let down. Here are some of the pros and cons of this bottle.

Pros:

-Water tastes good (It''s no Poland Spring, but it''s good)

-The bottle is easy to use once you get used to it

-Dishwasher safe

-The lid is wide enough to easily fit ice cubes into the bottle

-Wide drinking mouth, easy to get a good swig of water when you''re thirsty

-No leakage whatsoever

-There''s a feature to hold cap down so it doesn''t smack you in the face while drinking (it doesn''t say this anywhere on the packaging, but you can pull on the finger-loop when the cap is unscrewed and there is a little nub that holds the cap down)

-Filter is easy to set up (only takes ~30 seconds) and lasts about 2 months

-There''s a filter timer on bottom (Very simple design, you just click it onto the month you need to replace the filter)

Cons:

-There''s a puff of air that comes out right before the water. This takes some getting used to. I have found that it''s easier to sort of pour the water into your mouth instead of closing your lips over the bottle.

-The bottle has a somewhat small capacity and if you fill it all the way it spills over when you put the top on (because of the space the filter takes up)

-There''s a screw cap over the drinking nozzle so you have to unscrew it every time you want a drink. I think a snap cap would have been better but if you''re sitting at a desk you can just leave it open or lightly screwed. I think the screw cap helps to stop leakage from happening.

Overall it''s a great bottle and I would definitely recommend it.

Nice wide opening for ice. Fills easily. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is because it can be hard to drink out of due I assume to the filter (or maybe a combination of the ice and the filter). Found I have to ether squeeze or suck pretty hard to get the water out.

Air-O-Swiss AOS 7147 Ultrasonic Humidifier

Air-O-Swiss AOS 7147 Ultrasonic Humidifier - Warm and Cool MistThe 7147 is the quietest humidifier we have ever owned. It has easy to read digital controls, and the humidistat stays within one degree of one that also hangs on the wall in our bedroom. The filters do their job nicely and the warm mist setting keeps the room from feeling clammy.

The only issues I have with this humidifier is the way in which it is refilled. The oddly shaped top tank lifts off the pedestal control base and the refill opening is on the bottom of the tank. When you lift the tank off the pedestal daily to refill water drips everywhere as the tank sits in a pool of water. You then flip over the tank and remove the fill cap, which also happens to be connected to the filter! When you pull the filter out (which is filled with water) it drips everywhere! You then hold the oddly shaped tank upside down to refill. Since the top is now the bottom, and it is not flat you cannot set down the tank to refill. You also must contend with the nozzle where the mist sprays from, making a refill quite a challenge without getting everything around you wet!

Then you must re-insert the filter cartridge to seal the tank which displaces water. Since there is no fill line, it is easy to overfill the tank, and when the water is then displaced by the filter as you close the tank it squirts out! A simple opening on the top could have easily eliminated this problem!

The filler issue is the reason I rated the item a four out of five. It could and should be much better! Also, the controls do not remember previous settings once turned off, so you must reset your desired humidity level and fan speed each time you turn on the machine. It would be nice if previous settings were remembered!

We have been so pleased with the performance of the original Air-O-Swiss AOS 7145 Ultrasonic Humidifier Cool Mist in our 300 sq.ft. bedroom that we decided to upgrade and put the 7145 in our son''s room. The AOS 7147 is identical to the 7145 with some excellent additional features. I love the controls that provide; readings of the current humidity level, ability to set the desired target humidity level, and the ability to pre-heat the water to improve efficiency.

The one thing about which I have a minor complaint is the mist output level control. The 7145 has a dial control that allows for a continuous adjustment of the mist output. The 7147 touch controls provide only 3 absolute settings: low, high & high+. Frankly, I prefer the continuously variable mist output control of the 7145.

We are relegated to using well water which pretty much "eats up" wicks in evaporative type humidifiers, forcing frequent and costly replacements several times in a season. The mineral cartridge included with both the 7145 & the 7147 (but not needed where water is soft) does its job in treating hard water so the humidifier works as intended.

In the end I find this to be a product well worth the cost. Maintenance is easy, expensive replacement wicks are unnecessary, and the humidifier is reliable. I highly recommend this to anyone, but especially where hard water is an issue.

(Update 02/18/13)

Still using this daily without any problems. Still gives whisper quiet operation (the less expensive 7145 is a bit noisy, but not loud). Because of its very quiet operation, this 7147 would be an excellent choice for a baby''s or child''s room. I did not mention in my original review that the humidifier flashes an icon when it needs cleaning, a nice convenience. I use the Air-O-Swiss EZ CAL Cleaner and Descaler A7417 for thorough cleanings, but I find a regular rinse & brushing under warm water minimizes the need for this.

Researching humidifiers on Amazon was a somewhat tiresome exercise. Almost all products I looked at are subject to very serious complaints, most importantly noise, leakage, and lack of reliability. I decided to go with the AOS 7147 because most reviewers agree that it is really quiet, and because I liked the clean look and the features.

Here is what I can report after about a week of usage (will update if anything changes over time):

Noise level: Both my wife and I are extremely noise sensitive, but this unit can operate in our bedroom without affecting our sleep. Yes, there is a bit of a humming noise, but it is barely audible. Also there is a bubbling noise once in a while when water flows out of the tank into the tray. All-in-all, it seems about as quiet as can reasonably be expected.

Effectiveness: We use the auto setting that lets the device decide the target level of humidity and the output level. This works very well and hassle free, keeping the room comfortably moist.

Warm mist setting: I would recommend having it. Without it the room feels cool and damp. Even with using it there is a bit of a cooling effect, but it is acceptable.

Filtering/water treatment: We did not see any white dust around the unit, which was a concern.

Reliability/ease of use: No problems so far, straight-forward to operate, everything works as intended. I will post updates, if something comes up.

Look: Matters more than you would think, because it is supposed to be three feet away from the ground and away from both heating and return vents. Inevitably it will end up in a rather visible place. This unit has a bit of a techy, but overall relatively neutral look, better than most.

In summary, I am very happy with this unit.

Update: some tips on reducing the humming noise. Put a tray underneath the unit, then a thick sponge pad or similar cushion underneath the tray. The cushion dramatically reduces the noise level. The tray is very important. We first put the sponge directly underneath the unit, and that totally screwed up its moisture reading. We could watch the moisture level reduce from 50 to 49 to 48... to 37 in a few minutes and the unit cranked out steam like crazy. It seems that the unit needs to be placed on a hard surface to read the moisture level properly. Once we put a tray underneath it, the reading works normal again.

Love this product. Bought 2 of them for my kids rooms. I was tired of using the cheap humidifiers and the expensive filters that needed to be changed about every other week. The silver component in this humidifier is much better to have and I love the fact that is machine can do hot or cold mist and you can increase the humidity output. Very pleased with this product.

I bought my unit for winter time usage when the air is so dry due to the cold, I soaked the filter for 24hrs prior to use, installed it, filled the machine and it would not work warning light system indicates ''no water'' even though tank is full. This means that there is too much resin in the filter and the manual says to remove 2 teaspoons. Even after removing 4 teaspoons it still would not work. I tried running it without the filter and it worked okay.

So I just run it without the filter installed and it''s fine, I do use filtered water though (and haven''t seen any white dust problems).

After getting it running I first wanted to use it on warm mist setting, when I chose this option the heater switches on and the unit started misting and all was looking good but the unit switches itself off after a few minutes every time I try to use this function, must be some kind of heater override that is preventing it from operating in this mode.

So I just use it in cool mist mode. It works well for this but makes the room cool which in winter time is not ideal but at least I get some humified air to breathe.

Unit operates quietly except for every few minutes the air inlet gurgles quite loudly, not enough to wake you or prevent sleep but is quite noisy when you''re awake.

So, all in all, my feature-packed unit only operates as a cool-mist generator, not a particularly good advert for the unit, I would definitely consider alternative brands next time due to QC issues of my machine.

Senseo 7810 Single-Serve Gourmet Coffee Machine

Senseo 7810 Single-Serve Gourmet Coffee Machine, BlackWe have this machine, bought in 2004 and used 2-3 times a day. It still works fine, but it''s white and we wanted a black one to match our new kitchen appliances. So the old one goes into storage in case the new one breaks down.

There are a lot of so-called "single-serving" coffee makers on the market today. My wife and I have been very select coffee drinkers all our marriage nearly 30 years. We started with a beautiful La Pavoni expresso maker, which we still have although we had it completely overhauled about 8 years ago.

When we saw the Senseo we thought we''d try it because it seemed much less trouble although we were highly suspicious of anything that made coffee from "pods" because we were used to grinding our own coffee from beans stored in air-tight containers in the freezer and each cup of coffee we made was made from freshly ground beans.

From the very beginning we were impressed with the Senseo. Push a button and 90 seconds later the water for coffee is at temperature. Push another button and you have a fresh cup of delicious hot coffee, complete with a nice "creama" or frothy top just as you would get from an espresso coffee machine. The single serving button gives you a cup a little larger than the single serving espresso you typically get say in a Parisian or Italian coffee house. This may not be enough for American coffee drinkers used to a large mug of coffee. If not, you can push the "double" button and get either a large cup of coffee or two small cups the size of an espresso drink described above. Coffee pods come in all strengths (light, medium, dark roast), flavors etc. and are sold at Wal-Mart, Target, Safeway etc. and online at Amazon and lots of other places.

The pods come 18 to a package and a package costs about $4.75 $5.25 depending on how many you buy and where. That averages about 25-30 cents per cup of coffee if you choose the single serving button twice that for the double serving button. This is more than if you make drip coffee or do espresso with fresh ground beans, but I think it''s worth the convenience. The resulting cup of coffee is really good rich, hot, flavorful and frothy. We used "Dark Roast" but tastes vary.

As I said earlier, our 6-year-old machine still works pefectly and we use it every day, at least twice but more often quite frequently.

When we have guests we sometimes go back to the automatic drip coffee maker so we can put a whole pot of hot coffee on the table. But even then, if guests request, we can make cups so fast that it''s no problem to serve 4-6 guests a hot cup, all done within 4-5 minutes.

We recommend the senseo to friends without reservation.

However, there is one thing you must remember if you use this machine and this is probably true for any machine: If your water has a lot of minerals in it especially calcium you must clean this machine periodically. The instructions say every 90 days but where we live the calcium builds up quickly so we do it about every 60 days. This is important. A friend of ours through out his machine because he said the coffee started tasting bad and I''m sure sure it was because he wasn''t cleaning the machine at all. It''s easy to clean just run half vinegar and half water through it once, and then pure water once. All you do is put in the vingegar and water, then push both buttons (the single serving and the double serving) and the machine pumps all of the water / vinegar solution through the machine without stopping. Of course, you have to be sure it has a contained below large enough to receive all of this liquid.

Also, depending on the mineral deposits in your water, you may need to push a needle or pin through the pod holder drain hole once in a while because sometimes a grain of coffee or calcium build-up clogs the hole.

The machine comes with a reservoir tank for water, two pod holders (one pod and two pods) and a supply of coffee (one package of 18 pods).

You can order accessories for the machine, which include:

A double sized water reservoir (I recommend it highly), replacement pod holders, and a specil pod holder for making espresso coffee especially. You can also buy other replacement parts, but there are only two other parts besides the reservoir and pod holders. These two parts are the small overflow or spill catcher plastic part and a metal "grill" where you sit the coffee cup.

The new machine we ordered from Amazon (in black rather than the white one we already had) has one difference from the machine we bought 6 years ago: the spout where the coffee comes out it shorter, making it higher from the grill where the coffee cup sits. This is an improvement because now you can sit a large mug under the spout whereas the old machine made this difficult because the spout extended down quite far made to accommodate short little demitasse (sp?) or espress cup sizes. You can still use these smaller cups with the new spout but now you can also use a large mug if you want a "full-size" cup of coffee.

Summary Good Points:

1. The coffee is very good.

2. The coffee maker is very reliable. Our first one has worked without fail for 6 years and is still working. We just wanted a different color.

3. The coffee maker works very fast. A fresh cup of coffee from "0" to finished cup in about 3 minutes. After the first cup, the next cups can be made in less than 1 minute.

4. The price is far below most other single serving coffee makers: We bought our new one from Amazon in April 2010 for $49 with no cost for shipping.

5. The price for each cup of coffee is below any other single serving coffee makers that I have researched. This coffee maker costs between 25 and 30 cents per cup. Double that if you make a typical American "mug" sized cup of coffee.

6.Coffee pods are available at Wal-Mart, Safeway, Targe and other major chains. You can buy a "pod-maker" which allows you to make your own pods. This may be cheaper but we prefer the convenience of commercially produced pods since the coffee is still very affordable even if you buy the pods ready-made.

Caveat: Coffee will turn bad if you do not perform simple regular cleaning i.e. run half vinegar/half water through the machine at least every 90 days. Every 60 days is better if you live where the water has high mineral content and creates build-up in the machine. If you have a water softener or filter or use bottled water this may keep the machine cleaner longer.

Summary bad points:

We have had good experience with Philips products. They are a Dutch company (perhaps owned by the Royal Family, I''m not sure) and they seem to research companies and then buy them. Some examples are this Senseo machine and their Sonicar electric toothbrush.

Except for their TV, we have had good experience with Philips products. We bought a Philips TV and a Philips DVD/VHS player. The TV works OK but we can''t get the player/recorder to work with the TV. When we called their support line the only suggestion they had was to buy another player. So for TVs and DVD/VHS player / recorders we stick to Japanese products.

But the Senseo coffee maker is an excellent machine and we recommend it highly.

I received the Senseo coffee maker as a birthday gift 2 years ago and use it almost daily. I''m the only coffee drinker in the house and hate to waste a full pot of coffee if all I want is one or two cups. Making coffee with a Melitta one-cup filter is just too much work compared to the simplicity of the Senseo coffee maker.

The Senseo coffee maker has a reservoir that is easy to fill, and the pods are very convenient to just drop into the pod holder. Two tips I picked up from a single-serve review web site:

1: Pre-moisten the coffee pod so that the edges seal better to the holder, and

2: Preheat your milk so that the milk doesn''t cool the coffee when it pours into your cup. I preheat my milk for 30 seconds in the microwave, easy to do while the water is warming up.

I like being able to make a quick double for my travel mug when I''m running late--much faster than driving to Dunkin'' Donuts or Starbucks and not knowing how long the line will be.

I love to show off my machine for company. I can accommodate everyone, whether they want regular or decaf, mild or strong, etc.

My only wish is that there could be more varieties to choose from. Plus a little hot chocolate would be nice--especially with the foam on top that the machine makes with every cup. K-cups seem to own the market on variety.

Yes, my machine was one of the ones that was recalled. While I had no problem with the old machine, Philips made it very simple by shipping the new machine by FedEx and requesting that the old one be shipped back at their expense in the same packaging. And I was surprised with a pretty white one which replaced the old black one. The white one goes better in my kitchen, a silly thing to obsess about, but I like it.

All in all, the Senseo is quick, easy, fun, and convenient. It''s also a lot cheaper than buying on the road.

For the most part I love the coffee that comes out of my Senseo. Unfortunately there''s too little of it.

Before you start railing against over-sized everything, look at your coffee cup. I bet it''s a 12 ounce cup, or at least a 10. A 4 oz cup is an espresso cup, tiny, great for espresso, too small for coffee.

So, it takes 2 pods to brew an 8oz cup. I''ve lived in Japan, and it''d be perfect for the way they drink coffee, but not the way people seem to drink it in the states. Mug in the morning to get going, mug mid day to keep going. Two "cups" of coffee would mean using six senseo pods in a day, every day.

The coffee is delicious, rich, soft... yes its crema. Very yummy. But it costs roughly 40 cents per 8oz, depending on which pods you buy and where.

My buddy gave me his Senseo machine because it was impractical to fill a travel mug with it, and it only filled his coffee mugs (12oz) 2/3 with the 8oz max pour (yes, you could do multiple runs, but doesn''t that defeat the purpose of a pod system?)

So I like the coffee a lot, but the servings were too small, the water reservoir too small, and the coffee too pricey. Great espresso machine, not so great coffee machine.

I''ve stayed with a pod system, but switched to Keurig. Their K-Cups are roughly the same cost, but you get a lot more variety, and more coffee per pod. 12oz instead of 4oz. Also, you can do tea and even fill a mesh pod with your own coffee.

Keurig has a better system with about the same upfront cost, same pod cost, but you get more coffee, more conveniently, and it tastes great.

I purchased this coffee maker to replace the same make and model that has become less efficient after 3 or 4 years of daily use.

The new machine has a STRONG plastic or burnt electronics smell that permeates the water and coffee making it undrinkable. We cleaned it repeatedly with no improvement at all. I returned the machine for replacement. The replacement is just as bad and has been returned for a refund.

Amazon should pull this item from the site and send the remaining stock back to the manufacturer. I suspect the entire lot is BAD.

The Senseo working properly makes the best coffee I''ve ever had, but I am now afraid to purchase another. I switched to another more expensive brand, it''s not as good as an original Senseo, but at least I don''t feel that I might be drinking toxic coffee.

Do not order extra coffee. The machine comes with a bag of coffee pods but I didn''t know it so I ordered 20 dollars worth and it is not returnable. Washed everything good w/hot soapy water first. Coffee had an extremely strong plastic taste and smell. Called Senseo they sent out another one which had the same awful taste and smell. I really do not think Senseo is doing as much as they should to make sure these are off the market. I also did as another reviewer said and ran vinegar through the machine twice, the first cup of coffee tasted better after that but then the next one was gross again. Can''t believe I kept tasting this stuff. It can''t be good for you. Also took up alot of my time washing all this stuff, priming the machines, packing the two back up again to return. And stuck with coffee pods I cannot use. You would think Senseo would make sure your second one is a good one. Said they would send me another one. Just the thought of tasting that coffee again makes me want to throw up.
