The Perfect Steam Professional Commercial Garment Steamer

The Perfect Steam Professional Commercial Garment Steamer is Designed for Professional Cleaning Services & Heavy-Duty Home Users!WeLL, if you are reading this then I know you must be a part of that community, turned into a tribe, a cult of people looking high & low for that perfect steamer that first didn''t cost an ARM & A Leg & part of your rent that you could actually afford and that actually works.

Well, your search is over; THIS IS IT.

Now for those of you who think $99 is too much-well you DO HAVE to SPEND some money for a generally well-made, thought out design.

The rest of us know that a lot of upright garmet steamers can & do cost $150-$400! so, let me tell you why I like this particular steamer.

#1: It relatively easy to set up. Just read the instructions (2) pages & look at the little diagrams..had I''d heeded my OWN Advice & not been so pig headed; I would of realize that the second adjustable bar was actually within the first one & it telescoped out to Any desired height that you want.

#2: There is an DEFINITE ON Switch that''s located at the base that you must step on it like a vaccum cleaner lever to turn the machine on.

#3: The handle is simply activated by pressing the word ''STEAM''. You will then see these little hash marks indicating the levels of steam that you want.

#4: It has a large water well size (1/2 gallon milk) but it is SO EASY TO lift up and fill-you don''t need to drag the whole machine over.

#5: It can last for 3 WHOLE Hours!, I kid you not!

#6: And Steam it does! It''s not one of those pitiful hand held models that spit and spit and run out in 10 minutes (Joy Mangano) And it''s not a handheld that although it make chuck & ruck it really only has uncontrolled steam for the first 2 minutes before it dies off (Shark-Euro Pro household clean steamer) and you have to wait before it can build up enough steam to actually be able to use it again & by then it''s run out of water.

And it''s not like that other Shark-Euro Pro Steam Press that will kill your arm because it''s so heavy & spits.

#7:The thing that I like the most is the adjustable steam features: It only delivered steam when & where you''d wanted it.

I took the most crumpled ALL COTTON shirt & I was amazed at seeing how easily the wrinkles melted away & this steamer got hot enough to allow for creases to made easily (there''s even a creasing tool).

But what I LIKE THE MOST was putting the little cloth boot on the head, dialing down the steam & using it over those ''princess'' skirts. It was like butter. Right over those little mini colored plastic rhinestones, colored stones, woods, all sort of nifty embellishment. And I still had more than 1/2 of the water tank filled!

I did 4 skirts, 1 blouse, 1 pr. of linen pants! All, in one session! This machine has just paid for itself in the time & money it would of cost me going to the dry cleaners!

I know I must sound ''giddy'' but it''s so nice to have something that ACTUALLY WORKS!

And, Oh1 I forgot to tell you that it has clips at the top & Bottom to hold the garment snugly eliminating the need for a ''press board'' but be cautioned! Until you get the hang of it, you might to use a ovennglove on one hand because it can really steam your garments hot! (a litte ouch after the pants!)

***Alhough this machine says that is made for by HoMedics; some of the newer models might have a label on the top & side of the box that reads "Home Touch"... if you''d look at the very bottom of the box on it''s south in, you will find the HoMedics brand listed).

I would so much like to recommend this product, but I am rather compelled to advise against anyone purchasing this device. When it works, it works very well. The very first order, I received a machine that simply did not work. Having to repackage and return it was hassle enough, but I went ahead and ordered another. The second machine did work as promised, but the on/off switch has been wonky from day one. Now it seems that I will be returning this second machine as the on/off switch has given up the ghost altogether. What a hassle! It is too bad, I could definitely chalk up the first to dumb luck, but when a second purchase brings another set of problems, it is a bit too much.

***6-month update** October 2011

I''m still very satisfied with the steamer. All below is still true. It still produces a strong flow of steam. The only problem is that it spits water droplets when steaming. Not a problem per se for me, it dries, but I can see if you had to wear a shirt in public right after steaming, it would show wet spots. Another reviewer tried using the cloth cover; that sounds like a good idea. I think I need to use vinegar to clean it to see if it helps. I use reverse-osmosis water from our in-house system.

March 2011 (below)

We''ve used our Tobi steamer for 3 years, but needed an upgrade. I wanted not to drink from the water fountain, but from the fire hydrant (not literally ;). I looked and looked for something with the steam output Tim Taylor would be proud of. And, I found it with this garment steamer. The key words are: "pressurized steam." I just opened the box and used it for the first time. I love it. Compared to the Tobi this thing really melts the wrinkles-fast. It has many nice features.

The pluses:

1. steam, steam, steam (controlled steam output)

2. on/off steam button

3. solid base (not going to tip over)

4. nice-sized water tank

5. compartment for attachments

6. good height

7. automatic shut off I can''t tell you have many times we''ve left the Tobi on, now no worries.

Minuses (really minor):

1. didn''t care for the garment "hanger." But, it still has a hook to hang your clothes hanger on, when you''re done with the front, just flip it over to do the back.

2. some plastic parts

So far so good. I''ll try to add an update in 60 days.

This is a great steamer that does the job it''s supposed to do. I love that I''m able to turn the steam on and off on demand and change the level of "pressurized" steam that is used depending on the material. It comes with some handy tools...I use the creasing tool all the time on my cotton uniform pants and they look like I ironed them. The clips on the hanger attachment are a little weak in the gripping department so a very heavy pair of pants might slip out of the clothes pins...This is so minor compared to the wonderful job the steamer does. The hanger attachment comes off so you can use your own hanger if you want. The water is heated very quickly and you have steam within 1-2 minutes, so it''s very convenient to use even when you''re in a little bit of a rush. I am 5''11" so I sometimes hang longer items over the door to steam, but for the average height person the telescoping pole will work just fine. I am so happy I found this gem and have not had my iron out since I purchased this. I''ve recommended it to all my friends.

I am an avid steamer as one gets instant results with the effort they put in. How many other things in life can one say that about? I loved this steamer when I first got it. It is incredibly well made with metal and strong plastic parts. It is so easy to assemble. And it generates a lot of steam. But it spit like crazy when I first got it. I did read the manual to make sure I did everything correctly, and I have been steaming for years, but it still spit constantly when I used it. I had done my research carefully on this steamer and knew many people liked it because it didn''t spit (a common problem with steamers). So I gave the steamer the benefit of the doubt and sent it back to Amazon and got a replacement.

And I fell in love with the replacement. It worked just as it should. The wrinkles fell away easily and with little effort. There was no spitting, no gasping, no wheezing the steamer continued to chug along as it should, just generating pure, unadulterated steam.

But within a few days, the steamer started spitting again. Not huge spitballs, but little spurts. However, that can ruin a silk shirt or a delicate garment. Nothing had changed on how I was steaming, the water I was using, the type of clothes I was steaming. I hadn''t changed my diet, the type of music I was listening to, or my Facebook page (just kidding, I don''t have a Facebook page). I lower the level of steam I am using to the minimum but it doesn''t stop spitting. Fast forward a few days later, and the steamer is now spitting at a more constant rate. So I put one of the cloth "hoods" that come with the steamer so the steam is not going directly on the clothes. Magically, there is enough steam coming through the hood to get the wrinkles out of my clothes but the hood is catching the extra spitballs. I go to take the cloth hood off and I notice it has marks all over it where the steam nozzles were. I remove it, and the steam head face plate has burn marks all over it as if it was handle having the cloth hood on it. But it''s an accessory that comes with the steamer the steamer can''t handle it''s own accessories?

So my love affair with my steamer ended. And it only has been two short weeks...
