I was in the market for a new vacuum. I had been buying cheap 60$ eurekas, that did the job on our 650 square foot apartment. The third one broke and decided it was time to just get a "good" vacuum. My family in the past had Electrolux and never ever had problems so I did a lot of research. Dyson has great marketing but when you get down to it they''re just too expensive and for what?I did a lot of amazon research and online research about which Electrolux to get, as there are so many. This one had all the best qualities for the price that I was willing to spend. I was twisting with anticipation for it to come and when it did I haven''t stopped using it since. It is by far THE QUIETEST vacuum EVER. A friend was watching tv while I was vacuuming and there was no need to turn up the volume in the tv. The suction is outrageous! And the attachments all seem to be exactly what I need. The replacement parts like bags and filters are a little expensive, but... You get what you pay for. I will never not have an Electrolux in the future. I couldn''t be happier.
Pros: It is really very quiet; I can very easily listen to a podcast on my iTouch while I vacuum. It''s also quite light and easy to move around. I haven''t had it long enough to rate its durability.
Cons: The three buttons to control the vacuum are located on the handle you grasp at the top of the wand, and I have so far found it impossible not to frequently hit them accidentally as I vacuum. Two of these control power to the vacuum itself and to the carpet brush, so at least if you hit those, you''ll know you did so. But the third one controls the suction power, and when I accidentally hit it, which is often, it''s not immediately obvious that I did so. The motor gets a little quieter when it switches to low power, but it''s pretty quiet even at high power, so I don''t hear the change, even if I''m not listening to music or a podcast at the time. I just notice later on that it hasn''t been sucking up dirt very well, and can then see by the display on the canister that I must have, once again, accidentally lowered the power. So I have to try to guess how much of what I just vacuumed I need to re-clean, once again being super careul to try not to hit that button yet again.
Other than that, this vaccuum seems pretty good. But I''m thinking of returning it just because of this silly, badly-located power-level button, unless I can find some way of disabling it.
PS Here''s an addendum from a couple of weeks later:
After using this vacuum a couple more times, I find that I''m accidentally hitting the control buttons on the wand much less, only a few times per vacuuming session. So this does not seem to be as big a problem as I had originally thought. I think Electrolux could improve the design by making the buttons recessed, so it wouldn''t be so easy to hit them accidentally. But overall, I think it''s a pretty good vacuum, and I plan to keep it. It''s wonderfully quiet, it cleans very well, the sturdy handle on top is easy to grab when necessary, and it just seems to work well. Now I would probably give it 4 stars, not the 2 stars I gave it originally.

I bought the Ultra Silencer Deep Clean vacuum from Amazon because I didn''t care for the green color Ultra Silencer from Lowes wanted the silver/steel look model and found this one on Amazon. It''s an extremely quiet vacuum, with excellent cleaning ability. I like the high quality attachments and let''s face it if you buy a canister vacuum it''s because you WANT to use the attachments, so the quality of the tools is important. The bare floor tool is extra wide, so it cleans a very large area of bare floor at one time. The bags hold a surprising amount of dirt their size may seem small but they hold a very large amount of dirt before the indicator tells you to change the bag. Electrolux today isn''t the same "Electrolux" our mother''s used to buy from the door to door salesmen. Electrolux is now a part of Eureka. I guess it''s their high end models. This machine is a great example of a vacuum that''s worth the money. Everything snaps together easily, the power nozzle has a lifetime belt, and the machine will tell you when to change filters and bags. Like everyone else, my mother & grandmother had an Electrolux so I thought I would try one.Overall its a good (not great) vacuum with some design flaws that make me question if this product was ever field tested.
This vacuum was surely designed by someone who never vacuumed before.
Strengths
1). Electrolux name
2). Overall suction power.
3). Bare floor attachment
4). Lightweight, compact
5). Powerhead swivel is a nice feature, but needs more tensions. Tends to "flop" around and takes getting used to.
6). Telescoping handle.
7). Hose length
Weakness
1). Crevice attachment is a joke and should be an embarrassment to the entire company (enough said there)
2). Hose is extremely rigid plastic and does not unkink or twist easily.
3). Hose connects to canister straight up from the top. This causes the canister to not easily follow and tip over quite frequently. The hose should extend from the canister at 90 degrees for easier follow
4). Canister does not allow for carrying of attachments.
5). Power cord could be 5-10 feet longer.
6). Brush attachment is adequate at best. Not like the Electrolux attachments of old.
If your doing a big room or bare floors, I think this vacuum works great and you should buy it.
If your moving around a lot, going around corners, into different room, etc., then you might want to reconsider your purchase based on the moveability of this device.

It''s hard to enjoy the cleaning power of this vacuum while struggling with the unit. It does clean quite well as far as suction and picking up dirt and dust.I bought this for the reduced noise feature. I should have returned it but didn''t realize all of its problems until I had used it a few months. Here are the drawbacks I have experienced:
1. The power head is noisy, even if the canister itself is not. The hose is not very flexible and is unwieldy. Once it is curled or turned another direction, you have to fight it to aim the wand. Anyone of a small build or with diminished muscle capacity would really struggle with it, whereas I just find it annoying.
2. The carpet powerhead is also not designed very well. It does have level adjustment for different pile carpet, but when you pull it backwards, or toward you, the power head tips forward at the front and goes as close to the carpet as the lowest setting anyway, thus sucking up rugs unless they are nailed down. You can compensate for this by remembering to always put pressure down to hold the rear of the power head down toward the floor to keep the front of the powerhead from dipping down; that''s a nuisance.
3. The bag full indicator light has never once come on. I checked on the bag once and found it so full it was like a brick. This had caused the unit to overheat, cut out power intermittently to the power head, and start to emit a bad stale smell.
4. It emits a bad stale smell even before the bag is full or over-full. I have used the low odor bags and that doesn''t help.
5. The manufacturer (not the original Electrolux company at all, but the Eureka vacuum company using the name as a re-brand), will only offer to have it looked at at a service center. I did. They could find nothing wrong.
6. The floor attachment bristles get full of lint and fuzz very quickly. It requires frequent cleaning off during trying to use it to clean!
7. The wand handle is poorly designed. It is a very rigid curved design that does not allow much flexibility for getting straight into small areas (and if you do, the attachments might fall off in a small crevice as you try to remove the thing from a tight spot). The ''on board'' attachments that sort of clip in under where you hold the handle like to fall off a lot.
8. Lastly, the on/off and suction adjustment buttons are very sensitive and so close to where you hold the handle of the wand that you end up turning off the vacuum by accident a lot. Ironically, the same buttons can be difficult to press just right to get the thing to turn on or change power levels.
I''m stuck with this thing until I decide to go get a Meile vacuum. I should have know that was a better choice. Spending the extra few dollars on that brand would have saved me wasting a lot on the ''Electrolux''.
