edit: The customer support at Berkeyfilters.com was very supportive and understanding. The defective batch of filter elements have been isolated and removed from circulation. They are accepting my return for a full refund. If/when they fix the issue with the stripping threads, then I would reconsider their product.

Hands down the best filter on the market. We love love love it! We live on a well that has the egg smell from hydrogen sulfide in the water and because of that we didn''t drink our own water. We used to buy bottled water and now we love our own water! We purchased 10 heavy duty pcb free bottles and assigned certain colors to the everyone in the house and just refill them. We now drink 4 times as much water! I recommend you purchase the spout with the viewing window so you don''t have to lift the top off to see how much water you have left. Can''t say enough good!Read Best Reviews of Royal Berkey w/ 4 Black Berkey Elements Here
The filter system arrived quickly, and was well packaged. All the filter elements were boxed well and inside the tank, and the tank was in perfect condition with no dents or scrapes.Want Royal Berkey w/ 4 Black Berkey Elements Discount?
I have owned the stainless steel Big Berkey for about one and a half years. I bought it with the white filters. About a year ago, I bought two of the black filters and stored them for future use. After I read online about the black filters separating from the filters, I pulled the ones I bought and did the "red dye test". Well, the filters leaked.
Okay, so I called New Millenium Concepts to see what their warranty claims process is. Looks like the filters have a 2 year prorated warranty. Even though I did not use the filters except to check them, I will only get a 50% credit. They mention the credit is prorated like tire warranties. Well, I hope not because I took a Goodyear tire back once with an obvious manufacturing defect. Turns out the "pro-ration" was based on the manufacturers suggested RETAIL price. I could buy a new tire for LESS than the "prorated" warranty price.
Bottom line...I WILL NOT buy Berkey filters in the future! There are other manufacturers for gravity flow water filters. I will buy those since they fit the Berkey products. You should too!
And if you are looking for a completes system, there are two companies that manufacture them and they look like clones of the Berkey, but much cheaper. Buy them instead of the Berkey. I have not heard of ANY problems with their filters.
For something a critical as clean drinking water, the company should have done a total recall at no cost to their customers since they admit the products manufactured during certain lots are defective. What started out to be a part of my survival plan, has become an everyday need.
We are fortunate to have very good water, but this makes it even better.
The best part is drinking and cooking without chlorine!
