Now that I have two cats, I decided a vacuum cleaner designed for cleaning up after pets would be the way to go as a replacement for my terminally ill Dirt Devil swivel glide model. Despite the mixed reviews that I''ve read about the vacuum cleaner, I decided to go ahead with purchasing this one because I got a really good deal on it. I''m happy that I did. I absolutely love the cord rewind feature! The suction picks up everything in its path with ease. The two major complaints that I had read about in other reviews were that it was too heavy and it was too messy. Well, it doesn''t seem to be any heavier than my Dirt Devil, and it doesn''t seem to be any messier to empty the dirt container than it was to change the bag on my Dirt Devil. I''m wondering if those reviewers were used to more expensive models that are, perhaps, more lightweight and more "self cleaning". As for me, I would purchase this one again.

I have owned this unit for nearly a year now. The huge flaw design is in the lower filters. The main filter is surrounded by a foam filter. These filters have to be cleaned every time you empty the main canister. You have to wash them out under a faucet or blow them clean with compressed air. If you wash them out with water, you will have to wait till they dry or you risk damageing the unit. This can also cause the unit to stink during use. Add to this the heavy weight factor of the unit and a stiff wand hose. I dont have time to deal with all the drama involved with this filter system. I hope you do.

This vac is a bit on the heavy side so I will only use it on one floor, it does pick up the dog hair well, I am not sure if the flip down actually does anything to really help with the hair, I can''t tell.

PROS--

1 Picks up dog hair very well, I have a German shorthair and her hair is very difficult to remove for floors and fabric, plus a long haired cat so I have abundant hair to clean up

2 the rotating wand attachment picks up hair well

3 No bags to buy

4 filters are water washable so it removes the dust

5 The cord retracts

6 Not expensive for a vac

CONS-

1 The wand is not flexible which makes it difficult to clean furniture

2 the hose is too short and I had the vac almost hit me in the head multiple times

3 The vac is heavy so it is difficult to carry when needed

4 The hose extension is not long enough

5 It can be messy to clean out filters which should be cleaned at least every other time and they have to dry completely before use

6 The extension cord is much too short, all my other vacs I have had are longer and I can do all my downstairs rooms by backtracking once, this one i have to plug in for every room, a man must have designed this!!

7 I constantly step on the cord because they have the dumb thing near the floor and when I drop the cord I have to bend over and pick it up, I can''t reach it without bending over

8 The wheels are not large enough, my other vacs all would go from room to room without a problem but this one sticks at 2 areas that are a little higher.

You make the decision, I have listed the pros and cons, it is a nice vac that cleans up pet hair but it does have its flaws.

I was given this vacuum as a early Christmas gift for my sister. I have 2 dogs a long haired doxie and a German Shepard. Obviously the shepard sheds a lot more then my little doxie. With my old vacuum I''d have to go over the same spot 5-6 times just for it to lift all the pet hair off of my area rugs. My doxie destroys toys so there is always strings and toy pieces....my other vacuum wouldn''t even suck up the strings from his rope toys. One pass and the dog hair and toy particles are gone!! I can''t rave enough about how well this suctions. I never had a big dog before and when we got the shepard I was a little worried...and then I saw the hair all over....thick course white hair all over my rugs. I thought I was going to go crazy... but I used this vacuum and it worked great. The other problem I had with my other vacuum was it had bad suction yet somehow it was impossible to move...I can''t explain it. It would basically suction itself to our area rugs and our wall to wall carpeting. This vacuum you can push with ease...and it doesn''t suck up your area rugs so your chasing it around the house. It has different height settings so you can even vacuum hard woods...and it actually sucks up stuff instead of blowing it out the back which is common with a lot of vacuums. There is also the attachment the pet hair eraser...I used that one my microfiber couch and it worked great!! I also used it on the stairs and it was perfect for getting into the crevices of my carpeted stairs. I lovee the look of freshly vacuumed carpets but this is on a whole other level! It makes my carpets look like brand new. I never even knew our carpets could look this good. It was also a lot of fun for me to use it through the whole house and see how much my other vacuum was missing....and it was missing a lot! My only gripe would be it is a little heavy....but I''m young so I don''t mind lugging it up and down the stairs...and its not my like I''m doing that every single day. A good vacuum is going to have some weight to it. Of course I can''t forget to mention the retractable cord....LOVE! The cord is also very long...so you don''t have to stop a hundred times to unplug it and replug it and when your done just press the button and it winds it back up. I just really couldn''t be more pleased...who knew a vacuum could make me so happy!! The attachments have a cool setup also....I hate how with my other vacuum I had to un-attach one hose and attach another just to use the attachments! AHHH!! This one is great you just pull the stick out and use it...and then when you plug your stick back in...it sucks anything that might still be in the hose...so that the next time you grab it stuff doesn''t fall out. This vacuum is WINNING!!

I wasn''t sure this vacuum would be any better then the one I already had. Man was I wrong, this vacuum actually picks up the dog hair! We have 2 inside dogs and 1 cat, pet hair is everywhere. This vacuum actually gets the hair up. I had used my old vacuum and dumped it 2 3 times while vacuuming, this vacuum I had to dump 5 6 times. I see now what my other vacuum was missing. This vacuum makes your floors look clean, it works on tile and carpet. The suction is wonderful, I really like the turbo pet tool. I use the turbo pet tool on chairs and throw rugs, it works really good. I have not tried the other attachments yet so I dont know how well they work. So far this is a great buy and I would buy another one when the time comes.
