Culligan PR-1 Water Pitcher Filter Replacement Cartridge

Culligan PR-1 Water Pitcher Filter Replacement CartridgeIt turns out that smells and tastes have many components to them, and one person may detect 50% of the components while another will detect 60%, and their overlap may only be 30%. That''s why senses of smell and taste can be so different from one person to the next.

And I believe this probably accounts for the differences in reviews here so far. Either that or the quality of the Culligan filters differs from batch to batch!

Anyway, to me the batch of Culligan filters I got (at Walgreen''s) impart a taste that bothers me. This is a taste the straight tap water doesn''t have, and the delicious Brita filters never had. I didn''t know what it was, but reading the other review here, I realize it is sort of lemony. I asked my wife to try the Culligan filtered water and she didn''t detect this. Maybe the taste testers at Culligan have a sense of taste more like my wife''s?

First, you must prime your cartridge, prior to use. Simply follow the instructions which are included in the box. After priming, be sure to brew a full pitchers worth of water, about 8 times. This will elminate any funky flavors in your water. Enjoy! My dad just bought one. We love our water. No more bottled water. No more tap water.

I bought the Culligan pitcher which included the PR-1 filter. The water tastes fresh and is crystal-clear after using the pitcher and filter. I only paid $11.99 for the Pitcher and filter too. I didn''t notice any lemon-taste. I am now going to order more filters. Maybe the lemon-taste that the previous reviewer noticed was just the clean taste of the filtered water. You can actually see the difference in the water when it is filtered through the pitcher and cartridge and it is very clear.

I had been using Brita pitcher and filters for years before I decided to try Culligan''s filters, which fit in the Brita pitcher. I can''t find strong enough words to express my disappointment. The water taste is awful, AWFUL!!! When I first installed the filter, following the instructions, and trowing away the water from the first 3 pitchers, the water still tasted sour like there were a few drops of lemon juice in it... We decided to be patient, so maybe after A WEEK of use, it stopped being sour, but still didn''t taste good. Not even close to the Brita filter that we were used to... I opened a second filter from the three-filter box and it was the same the lemony taste returned. I don''t know what kind of tests have been run before putting that filter on the market, but I am afraid to use it anymore... Somebody should take those out of the market!!! I am curious what a chemical test will find in that water... I actually think that tap water tastes better than the water filtered with that filter... Yesterday I bought Brita filters again and, Oh, what a difference!!! I am enjoying pure and tasty water again!!!

I have used the Culligan water filter system for years now, the reason why I have to order them is Walgreens no longer carries the product, at least here in the Bay area. All I know is my water tastes much better out of my faucet when I run it through the Culligan filter into the Culligan pitcher. It does make the water more pure and from my understanding is better than the other water filters out there like Brita. I recommend the Culligan water system very highly.
