It''s very quiet so it can operated throughout the night without disturbing sleep and it''s an attractive unit. So, it''s quiet, it''s attractive, and it works really well; for that I give it five stars! I wish I had purchased an air purifier sooner. I may even purchase another one for our living room! This is the second BlueAir air cleaner I have purchased. The first was a 500 series cleaner, which I love. I decided to add a second, smaller, BlueAir for the bedroom. These cleaners are attractive, easy to operate and make the air in my apartment much cleaner. The replacement filters (every 6 months) are expensive, but if you want clean air, it is worth the cost.

Without a doubt, the Blue Air 203 is the best air purifier I''ve owned! Because my daughter has eczema, I''ve installed a number of purifiers throughout our house. Some good, some not-so-good. But, the Blue Air surpasses all of them. It''s quiet and solidly built (made mostly of steel, not plastic). When you run it on low, you can barely hear it. And, its been on 24 hours a day, with no problems. So, once again, it gets my thumbs-up!Read Best Reviews of Blueair 203 GO SMOKESTOP Air Purifier Here
I''m in that small percentage of people sensitive to the foul slow-curing plastics entrenched in this industry and in small electric heaters. More about that later. Charcoal comes in various shades and grades. I don''t know the specifics. They use coconut shell charcoal here which emits a faint odor of toasted coconut shell (which is not thesame as toasted coconut). The odor does not bother me, but I thought it should be mentioned. I am not a smoker.
Note that HEPA filters without charcoal can be used in this unit. The new filter weighed 3LBS. and likely contains
the 2LBS. of charcoal stated. I feel I''m getting a lot more filter for my money than I did with my Oreck air cleaner. When I first set up the unit the VOC''s made me uncomfortable (the maker refers to this as "newness").
I decided to take a chance and keep the unit because it is so well constructed and seems to be intelligently
designed (as opposed to clever). It reminds me of sturdy products from the 1970''s. As one seller put it "this is not a piece of plastic junk that will end up in a landfill in a couple years". My situation wants manual control.
I like the simple 3-speed switch and absence of pseudo-innovation and digital BS.
I opted to try slow-cure: removed, wrapped & stored the filter. Placed the unit where air would circulate thru it, but not get dirty. Then I forgot about it for 5 months until my old electrostatic Oreck finally burned out. The
Oreck made nice quality air, but not quantity and was low rated. When I reassembled the Blue Air unit the VOC''s
had dropped to a tolerable level and I had a GOOD air cleaner! I consider the unit to be pretty quiet considering
the volume of air moving and the noise is unobtrusive and relatively "white". I like the modest ionic charge it
imparts. I covered the Bright blue light as others did. Important questions about longevity, serviceability and
whether or not the replacement filters are like the original have yet to be answered. Big thanks to Amazon for providing this great reviews department which is editable and encourages customer discussion. Reviews at other seller''s sites are often obviously filtered. Yes, I recommend this unit. I would rate this product a 3.5. It doesn''t remove as much odor as I would have liked and it is a bit noisy on the higher levels. The filters are very easy to change but seem somewhat expensive. Looks attractive and works adequately. Not too disappointed since I''ve bought two of these.
