This filter feels MUCH sturdier than what we started with! Fit the top half of my two piece shopvac, fitting the 2.5 gallon size just fine.Purchased early 2012 will try to keep updated. After reading quite a bit about the filter material, it appeared to be a sturdier and more efficient filter compared to shop-vac filters. I prefer HEPA filters to pick up those nasty tiny particles you cannot see, including asbestos. While this filter is not HEPA rated, the specs indicate that it will do essentially as well. I am fixing up an old house, so filtering nasty particles is especially important to me.While it is hard to vouch for things you cannot see anyway, after using this a LOT I find it hold up better. The stock filters seem to start to fray on the edges after just a few cleanings, which lowers my confidence in them, especially for small particles. This item has yet to show that fraying after a year of heavy use
I had trouble figuring out what size I needed. I have the Heavy Duty 5 gallon 5.5 HP model (professional grade), which I highly recommend, by the way. This particular filter fit properly.
Pros
inexpensive
near-HEPA filtering specs
sturdy
Cons

I wish the top would be boxed on this so when I fill it up I wouldn''t have to balance it in place, and it would hold more water.. Also, the handles hold water (when upside down, spills out when lifted), not good when overflow of bathtub water goes in. I just feel they could have done a better design job on these. I gave two stars due to the opening to fill is larger than my older model. Price is a little high, shipping was fast just insufficient packaging. Refund was quick as well.
I would have liked for them to offer us a replacement as I would have given them a second try. Who knows maybe my parcel guy went all Ace Ventura on his packages that day? But it was never offered.
Bottom Line: If you get these, and there is black dust all over it DO NOT USE. Return it for full refund.

good looking machine lit display is especially nice
fairly well priced
makes good tasting coffee that is quite hot
carafe keeps coffee hotter than most similar carafes
controls easy to use
The cons:
if you prefer a paper filter (and we do) it can be hard to place it in basket such that it doesn''t fall over and make a mess with grounds all over the place and coffee not right (and basket full of messy leaking liquid)
the stop drip feature seems to work worse than most (ours doesn''t seem to stop anything)
machine is heavy hard to slide around the counter
produces a lot of steam so you really can''t have it right under a counter
We loved our old Cuisinart with thermal carafe (a style not made anymore) but this machine seems to make better, hotter coffee that stays hotter longer. When the filter flops over though (which is does sometimes despite what I think is careful positioning) it makes a terrible mess. We never had this problem with our old machine.
All in all a decent machine with a few flaws. All I want is a good cup of coffee. When our Braun coffeemaker stopped working I went on-line to Amazon to look for a new machine with a thermal carafe. I read far too many reviews and every product seemed to have more negative reviews than I like to see. Common complaints were: coffee not hot enough, coffee maker and/or carafe spills too easily, and machine stopped working. So I had to go to a real store several stores in fact and see these coffeemakers for myself. I ended up with this Calphalon HE100CMT coffee maker, which at the time I bought it had only one Amazon review.
Inspecting the display models, I found that the construction of this Calphalon was noticeably better than the other coffee makers in its price range. Instead of plastic made to look like metal this has a real metal shell (which I''ll admit shows fingerprints readily). The hinged covers for the brewing basket and water reservoir seemed more rugged and of a higher quality than the other units on the shelves. So I brought the Calphalon home.
I think coffee maker engineers have quite a challenge making thermal carafes that keep coffee hot. My wife, who would prefer a glass carafe on a hot plate, finds the coffee temperature from the Calphalon''s thermal carafe acceptable only because I pre-warm the carafe and her coffee mug with hot water. Compared to our simple old Braun thermal carafe, this Calphalon carafe has a spring-loaded button in its lid to keep heat in once the carafe is removed from the coffee maker, and gaskets on the screw-on lid. I''m not sure this makes much real difference in the temperature but this design very nearly made me return the Calphalon to the store.
Of the first three full pots of coffee I made, two created countertop spills that rivaled that of the Exxon Valdez. After the first disaster I made sure I had the carafe top screwed on correctly, the coffee cone positioned just so, and the entire coffee maker leveled on our not very level counter. I still experienced a second disaster and as Calphalon advertises this coffee maker brews a lot of coffee in a hurry so there was quite a flood. To the reviewer who called this design "pathetic" if I''d seen your review I wouldn''t have bought this product. However, I did buy the machine and I was not ready to admit to my wife that I''d made a mistake. After experimenting I''ve convinced myself that the lid button when new is a little sticky and that making sure it moves freely will avoid flooding. This has worked uneventfully for the past few days and we''ve enjoyed our coffee.
This Calphalon is a big coffeemaker. It has a removable water reservoir, and I think that''s why it''s half again as big as my old Braun with its built-in water tank. And one more observation: the Calphalon''s "auto pause and serve valve" should be called "slows down dripping somewhat when you remove the carafe". I think I would give this machine 3 1/2 stars if I could but I''ll round up and give it four stars.
Updated October 2012: "I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him."
Our Calphalon coffee maker expired today, less than a year after we bought it. After it made this morning''s coffee we detected an electrical odor and it appears that the heating element burned out. (I opened it up to conduct a post-mortem.) I see that other reviewers have reported this problem.
My wife''s reaction when I told her that the machine had died was "oh good." She was tired of wrestling with the screw-on carafe lid, having to wipe up spills whenever we poured coffee from the carafe, and the "auto pause" feature never quite working. I leapt onto Amazon and ordered a new machine from a different manufacturer.
I''ll take away two stars from the Calaphon due to its early demise and leave it with two stars since it did make pretty good coffee for almost a year.

Have you ever read the reviews on ANY coffee maker? Check them out on any brand and you''ll find the same complaints. Most of these are user error. Let''s start with the biggie, coffee leaks all over the countertop when brewing. Older coffee makers shot the water over the grounds in the filter with a single stream of water. New units transfer the water with something resembling a shower head. If you put a paper filter in the unit and it isn''t perfectly placed, the heated water will fold the paper filter over and water will leak everywhere. You don''t need to concern yourself with this problem on this unit as it comes with a gold, metal filter. Don''t use paper filters. Besides that, the gold filter saves you money.I bought his unit because it has a metal, thermal carafe. Glass carafes break. Units with glass carafes have plate type heaters to keep the coffee warm. This causes the water in the coffee to evaporate rendering the coffee horrible in a short period of time. With the thermal carafe the coffee is kept warm for hours and you can take the carafe to the dinner table or desk in your office. The next common complaint is about the tops on all the thermal carafes. In order for the coffee to remain warm in the thermal carafe, the lid must fit securely. People are not careful in putting the lid on the carafe and strip the threads on the lid. When the threads become stripped, the lid will leak. When you screw on the lid, make sure that it screws on evenly. You won''t have any problems.
This unit brews 10 cups in about 2 minutes. It''s smokin'' fast. It also has several brewing modes, bold, 1-4 cups and a combination of both bold and 1-4 cups. When you set the timer for auto brewing, the mode you have set does not show in the display.
The unit looks great on the countertop and it''s smokin'' fast. Take my tips into consideration and you will enjoy some great coffee.
UPDATE: The coffee maker simply quit working after approximately one month. I returned it.

The mechanism that is meant to seal off the pot to keep it hot does not work propoerly and coffee spills all over the counter and floor when it brews. This happened 4 out of the first 10 times I used the machine, plan to take it back immediately. As mentioned in a previous review the lid also leaks when pouring. For a fairly expensive coffee maker, this is pathetic, doesn''t even do the basics correctly. Please do not buy this product.Want Calphalon Electric 10-Cup Quick Brew Thermal Coffeemaker Discount?
I was a bit skeptical as I really liked (mostly) our old Cuisinart thermal 12-cup maker (owned two) but one day it just stopped turning on every time probably fro an overflow of coffee earlier. My wife works at Macy''s and got this one with her discount. Wasn''t sure . at first...I now like it a lot!I will echo what another poster said... most complaints on this maker are user inflicted. It does require some thought and effort. Unlike the Cuisinart which was stupid simple to use.
Pros...
Great tasting hot coffee, Very fast, Looks good, Removable Water tank, gold-tone filter.
Cons...
More daily maintenance, only 10-cup, instructions not clear. Stupid time setting no skipping fast forward etc.
Mid-pour does not not work at all.
Here are my trial and error pointers when using this particular coffee maker...
First, make sure you clean the thermal carafe out every time, to avoid forgetting and making another pot. That makes a total mess. I did this at first. Since you have an removable reservoir you may forget there is liquid already in the carafe. I did.
Second, There are three arrows on the lid.. use them! The unlabeled arrow is he "brew" arrow... the other labeled ones are "pour" and "lock". Take the time to set the proper arrow. Also be very careful when you initially screw the cap on. Line the threads up.
Third, rinse out the carbon filter in tank before you put in reservoir to get rid of a lot excess carbon. I have RO filtered water so after it wears out (3 months)I''ll probably not use their carbon filter system.
In all I like it! It has more daily maintenance time than the Cuisinart, makes much better coffee. I think if you are OK with the daily maintenance to keep this run running smooth its a great good looking choice. I does make coffee faster which is nice and the carafe opening is large enough and shallow enough that you can really clean the carafe unlike the Cuisinart which got really black really quick over time.
We are keeping the Cuisinart thermal carafe as a backup as it does a better job maintaining the temperature over many hours.. for parties etc. This one keeps coffee hot but for not the same amount of hours.
4 stars just because it isn''t perfect... I''m sure no coffee maker is "perfect". They all have pluses and minuses.

Culligan HF-150A 3/4-Inch Whole House Sediment Water Filter Save 23% Off
- Extends life of washing machines, hot water heaters, and other water-using household appliances
- Quick and easy to install
- Durable opaque housing
- 3/4-inch inlet/outlet for installation on main cold water line
- 5-year limited warranty
3/4 inch threads not sealing. I had no problem with this. I used thread tape, wrapped around the male fittings 4-5 complete turns, CLOCKWISE (important). I then threaded my fittings into the housing until they seated against the housing (my fittings have a collar), tight but not ridiculously tight. No leaks under normal household water pressure.
10 inch filters not fitting into housing. I purchased Culligan 20 micron filters and Purenex 5 micron filters. Purchased the Purenex because Amazon was out of the Culligan 5 micron. The Culligan filters are 9 5/8 inch long and have hard plastic caps on each end. The Purenex are 10 inch long and do not have any caps at the ends, they are all "filter". Needing to use the 5 micron, I inserted the 10 inch Purenex into the housing and screwed the base into the top and yesthe filter seems to be too long for the housing. I continued to screw the housing together, a little forceful, until the 2 pieces seated together. I encountered no leaks here either. I then checked the filter to see if it was crushed or distorted and it was not. Thus I think one can use 10 inch filters, they just need to be screwed on more tightly and the filter will conform. Also, as another posted; you could easily cut the filter shorter.
Very happy with the housing, made well, does exactly what I need; which is to pre-filter for a smaller micron filter in our roof-fed cistern water system.

There''s one flaw that makes the Culligan HF-150A unusable, at least for me: The NPT threads for the inlet and outlet are cut incorrectly and do not work well with standard fittings. As everyone knows, NPT threads are cut on a taper, so that the pieces snug into each other as you tighten. Both threads on this filter are cut too large. When you try to screw in standard NPT compression fittings, the fittings bottom out before becoming acceptably snug. (I wasn''t even using a wrench; I was tightening them by hand!)
I discovered this while I was dry fitting everything, and without thread tape. However, several professional plumbers at the local plumbers'' supply house agreed that all was not right with this unit. They tell me that one would expect that the fittings should get snug well before bottoming out, even without thread tape.
One plumber at the supply house suggested I kludge it with LOTS of thread tape, and maybe a water hose gasket; others suggested trashing this unit and getting a "good" one. Not wanting to kludge or experiment, I went with the latter suggestion ditched this filter.
Note: The instructions talk about using a "BF-34" fitting kit to install this. Perhaps the only fittings that work with this are the BF-34 fittings. I don''t know. As I said above, I gave up on this filter.
Whatever filter you end up using, I suggest putting a cut-off valve on *BOTH* sides of it; that will make filter changes much easier. Being able to isolate the filter on both sides, you won''t have to turn off the water supply on the inlet, and won''t have the rest of the plumbing draining on your face through the outlet.
Caveat emptor.

I am using this filter for all of the water coming into our trailer at a seasonal campground, in a "whole house" type configuration. Not sure exactly what was in the water, but it had a distinct taste and smell, and when boiling water for pasta, it would turn orange. After running water through it for only a minute, I removed it and looked at the filter and it had captured a surprising amount of "orange stuff". The filter does not seem to slow our water pressure at all.The only issue I have with this filter, which I saw mentioned by other reviewers, is that when screwing in a standard 3/4" plumbing fitting into the filter, you need to use A LOT of teflon tape so that it does not leak. I had to put on teflon tape, put together, test, see leak, and repeat a number of times.

First of all, it''s much cheaper to buy these on Amazon than at your local hardware store. You can also get a good deal on the filters themselves by signing up for automatic shipment on the schedule you desire. That not only saves you on the filters, but also serves as a reminder that it''s time to change them out when the new ones arrive! There is another model that has a clear plastic body but it costs more for some reason. I had those and they froze and broke last winter so I thought these solid ones looked to be a bit stronger. If you are on a well, you should buy two of these and hook them up in series with a primary sediment filter in the first unit and a micron filter for the 2nd.I got these two units installed and instantly had the clearest water coming from the tap. They cost more and have to be changed every two months, but the micron filter makes a huge difference over using cheaper ones that don''t have the higher filtering capability. I''ve got a lot of sediment and was using a Brita filter, but the water is now so bright and clear (and tasty) that I just use water straight from the faucet now. It''s the best water I''ve ever tasted actually!
Do not overtighten when you install the filters. If you have water leaking, check to make sure you didn''t drop the "O ring" when you removed the used filter. They also recommend putting some vaseline on the seal. Installed properly, you don''t have to use more than finger pressure with a slight snugging with the plastic wrench for a perfect seal. If you are still leaking stop and disassemble. Don''t force it too tight or it''s hard to get it off the next time you have to change filters.
If your filter box is outside make sure you have it adequately insulated if you are subject to hard freezes in your area. I have my box insulated with a 100 watt lightbulb on the inside which I plug in when temps drop into the low teens. I don''t recommend wrapping the pipes and the filters with insulation and heat tapes. That''s what failed disastrously last winter. First the heat tape failed and you couldn''t visually see that under the wrappings and secondly a couple of wraps of a heat tape around the filter wasn''t adequate. It was also a terrible mess to tear it all apart to change the filter cartridges! Better to insulate the whole box and put a visible heat source inside. All we needed were basic cartridge casings to contain water filters for a two step filtering system outside of the RV without spending a fortune. Culligan had just what we were looking for. We''ll catch the sediment, etc. on the first filter then remove bad taste, etc. with the second filter before it enters our RV water system. You just need a 3/4 diameter 2" brass nipple to connect the two cartridges together (easily available at your local hardware store). Easy to use & worth the modest cost to help ensure better quality water coming into your home (or RV, in our case).

10 cup replacement carafe''s are hard to find. Had put away my Braun coffee makerthen found this one on amazon. Now can use my favorite coffee maker again,BISSELL Flip-!t Bare Floor Cleaner Save 4% Off
I decided to try the Flip-It because it is supposed to vacuum and wash the floor. First of all, you really have to vacuum first and clean the receptacle before washing. Otherwise, you will end up with a yucky mess to clean from the receptable and filter. I didn''t find that the vacuum blew the hair as one other buy had reported, but I agree that it doesn''t vacuum very well. It picked up some hair and small crumbs, but didn''t get all of it. This was obvious when I washed the floor. More hair was picked up in the washing process.
With the rubber brush and a little pressure, this cleaner did get much more of the dirt out of the floor texture. I still had to scrub some with the brush on the unit, but I would have to do the same with a sponge mop. At least with this cleaner, the dirty water is vacuumed up and clean solution is dispensed for the next section. Even with my uneven floor, the unit did pick up the water, and the floor dried quickly.
The first floor bathroom, hall, kitchen, and foyer are pretty large, kitchen alone is about 12'' x 18''. I had to refill the cleaner 3 times. I filled the unit with hot water from the tap. So maybe that helped. I don''t think this is too bad because I had to refill the Floor-mate as many times and it didn''t get the floor as clean.
I wouldn''t use this unit as a vacuum again, but as a hard floor cleaner, I think it works well on floors that need more scrubbing than a soft brush.Purchased the Flip-It a couple of days ago, so my review is based on only one cleaning of kitchen tile floor. But it was enough to reveal serious flaws in the design and manufacturing of this device. Overall, I''m not satisfied with this unit, mainly for three reasons: (1) due to the very poor dry pick-up due to the design flaw of air blowing down and dispersing the dirt you are supposed to pick-up, (2) the fact that you need to use a rag or mop to dry after the last square foot of floor space cleaned, (3) using this unit in a relatively small area is actually more difficult and considerably slower than using a mop, unless you leave the floor wet, which defeats the purpose of the drying function.
The idea to have separate dedicated dry vacuum side and wet pick-up side was what initially sold me on this unit. I was comparing to the Hoover Floor Mate models about which I read that dry pick-up is not very good, plus they are 60%-70% more expensive than the Bissell.
The unit indeed is very easy to assemble and was ready to use in less than 5 minutes after attaching the handle with one screw. The handle was a bit squeaky due to all screws being rather loose, so I tightened them about a 1/4 turn of the screwdriver to remedy this. The build quality seems fine and the motor noise acceptable (at least compared to the overly noisy full-size Hoover SteamVac I got for carpets, which by the way cleans carpets very well).
I noticed that the amperage rating of this unit is only 3 amps. Compare this to the 10-12 amps of most regular vacuums or carpet cleaners (or the 5 or more amps on wet/dry vacs you might use in your garage) and you will get an idea of the suction power. It turned later that indeed it is not very strong (but it would have been adequate if not for the serious design problem which rendered the unit useless for dry pick-up)
After filling in the solution tank with the supplied hard floor cleaning solution and warm tap water, I was ready to try it.
First I tried the dry vacuum function. Immediately, I noticed that as soon as I approach a piece of lint, dust or any light particle on the floor within a few inches in front or to the side of the cleaning head, the exhaust air stream would blow it AWAY from the cleaning path. This makes it impossible to even go near the things you want to suck-in, unless they are heavy enough to not be moved by the exhaust air stream. Once over them, the suction is OK to retrieve them in the dirty tank.
I thought I perhaps assembled the unit incorrectly, which would be hard if not impossible to do. Still, I reassembled it more carefully, taking care that all openings fit where they should snugly. Same problem! Then I removed the dirty tank to look at what''s going on (exhaust air was escaping at a great force down from around the elliptical opening on the back of the dirty tank this is on the top/front side when you vacuum and on the back/bottom when you wet pick-up). There are two plastic ducts on the inside of the machine, which blow air down for some reason. The actual exhaust port is pointed sideways as it should, and is blowing air out too. But it looks too small, so most of the exhaust air actually comes out through these two openings. The dirty tank is supposed to block the air from escaping down to the floor, or at least to the front in dry pick-up mode. It has some insulation on the inside of the machine, but it is not adequate, so air escapes around the dirty tank and out down through the opening and towards the floor. In effect, the exhaust air blows down pushing away any light debris that you try to approach...
So much for dry pick-up not good and definitely not usable for anything but stuff like cheerios, heavy crumbs or seeds (hair and light stuff moves away due to the exhaust blowing down).
Second, I tried the wet pick-up with the supplied brush installed. This works OK cleans dirty step marks fine and dries the water. BUT ONLY if you go backwards moving forward, after the brush has been already saturated with water/solution, leaves a wet streak even if you no longer push the spray trigger. So you need to move backwards to leave the floor dry in front of the machine...
It does a fair enough job of drying the tiles and the water in the dirty tank was quite dirty. The kitchen floor was cleaned well enough, although sticky stuff had to be scraped-out by hand (a steamer would have loosened and cleaned these out).
Although it does not look to be the case, I hope I have a defective unit after all I''m probably one of the first customers to buy this at Sears the day they received it in the store... It would be a pity if this relatively moderately priced device with good potential fails miserably due to poor design or execution...
I''d be curious if other reviewers experience the same problem.
--Update 10-7-2004 --While returning the cleaner to Sears, I tested the floor model. It has the same problem blowing air down from the same place mine did. I''m starting to think that if the engineers flipped (!) the cleaning head 180 degrees so that only the wet pick-up is affected by the downdraft, it will actually help dry the floor, and it won''t interfere with the dry pick-up, as it will be blowing now behind the cleaning head in dry mode instead of in front of it... Getting a less restrictive exhaust port would help too. The only other change needed might be to put the outlet on the clean water tank on the opposite side when they rotate the head to allow all solution to drain to the bottom. I''d try this if I had my unit still with me, but now it''s too late :(. My only hope now, besides finding something affordable that works, is when Flip-It 5200 "Plus" (a.k.a. revision 2 with all bugs fixed) comes out with these changes implemented, I''d get a dollar for each one sold, or at least a free one :)
One other thing I forgot to mention was that the capacity of the water tank was sufficient to clean my kitchen of about 15''x8'' with a 6''x3'' counter in the middle. So for larger rooms you will need to refill halfway through.

I don''t think that this little machine is nearly as bad as some of these reviews make it out to be. I think alot of people have much too high expectations on what a product like this should do.A little over a year ago I purchased the hover floor mate, And I thought it was the best invention ever. For a person like me who hates a mop and bucket and hates waiting for the tile floor to dry because it is deadly when it is wet. Fast forward to this week when I started to mop the kitchen and the motor blew up on the hover. With three children and three dogs I needed to quickly replace it. Despite the many poor reviews on the bissell I decided to try it figuring I could return it if it was too awful. I was pleasently supprised with how it performs. I wouldn''t say that it cleans the floor any better or worse then the hover did, especially considering the much lower price. But I will point out what qualities I noticed right away that I do like better. For one it is much lighter than the hover. It is easier to switch from wet to dry vac and back when you notice that tuft of dog hair you missed. The hover would get clogged very easily if you tried to vacume dog hair while the inside of the vacume was still wet from mopping. And finally, I find the bissell much easier to clean out and put back together when done cleaning.
I don''t feel that any of these machines are really designed to ''scrub'' deep down into grout lines and yes, as with any mop, you sometimes have to make several passes over a tough spot, but atleast you don''t have to put any pressure down on it to get the spot up. Just let the scrubber part rest on the spot for a sec. All in all, it works great for me as a daily quick clean up for the dog hair, drool and sticky mistery goo that the kids always seem to leave behind :)

We have tile floors and thought this would make a great addition to our cleaning supplies. I was willing to spend money on whatever it took to make cleaning my house easier. So I bought one for my family and one for my parents who also have tile floors. We were sent the flip it''s immediately and got right to work. My husband assembled it for me, and I started to clean the house. First I used the dry vacuum side. The previous ratings were correct. The air does blow out and makes it near impossible to suck anything light up. Then I attempted the wet vac side. It leaked all over my floor. No matter what I did to stop it from leaking it to this day continues to leak. I have even re-assembled it. To no avail, it is still leaking.
Not only does ours leak, my parents are having the same exact problem with theirs.
Do not spend your time or money on this piece of junk. I could''ve sent it back, however, didnt want to deal with the issues of returning a large item.
BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

I purchased this product for the wet floor cleaning ability. I am sold; I think it is wonderful and great. I paid 75 dollars for mine at a discount retailer and have been impressed so far. We have 2 dogs and a toddler in our house which is 75% ceramic tile so there are many things that I like about this unit.1. It is light and easy to use with one hand and truly does go from dry to wet on the fly. Of course the sacrifice for this is that the tanks (both clean and dirty) are somewhat small.
2. It picks up adequately on the dry vacuum side Cheerios and dog hair don''t give it any problems and the dirt that falls in the grout comes up too. My house requires sweeping up first period. There is no way ANY vacuum could get into all the nooks and corners without a wand, but I do wish it was a little lower profile and a little wider on the vacuum side. Although it seems to pick up fine it just doesn''t feel very powerful as vacuum cleaners go.
3. The wet cleaning side is great, works beautifully and does not leave much water at all. I love it! My only complaint is that as others have said, the tanks are small and the filter does clog pretty easily. But I figure you have to make sacrifices for price and compact design.
All things considered it is easy to use does a great job for everyday cleaning and I can''t beat the price. It seems pretty durable too, the other day it hit the floor and both tanks and the wet vac. head popped off, I freaked out for a minute and the snapped everything back together and it ran like a champ. Although I am sure it is not recommended I did suck up and entire cup of coffee off the floor the other day with not so much as a dribble of the brown liquid left it did perfectly.
You also have to remember to leave a little time to get to know the machine. I experienced almost all the same problems as other users in the beginning too. Other users have commented about the dirty water on the floor and the fact that it doesn''t pick the water back up and it leaks etc. I had all these things happen and ALL were attributable to operator error! Vacuum does not pick up= I have never met an upright that didn''t blow stuff. EVER! Dirty water not picking up= filter was clogged, unclogged filter, took two minutes. Tank leaks= dirty water= not clicked in all the way. Clean water= screwed cap on wrong. Takes long time to dry= instructions specifically recommend NOT holding lever down on both forward and reverse sweeps and on the times that I have a stubborn stain I do this but I also go back over it with just the sucker and it turns out just fine. I also use my own vinegar water combo in the machine with no problem either.
All in all, you get what you pay for. I did not pay $200-$400 for a floor cleaner I paid $75, I expect and accept the limitations that affords me. It is so much unbelievably better than vacuuming my whole house with the wand of my upright and then using mop and bucket I am willing to deal with it. My back thanks me everyday!

As a person who used to suffer from extreme acne when I was a teen I still have some very tiny scarring on my cheeks that most of the time is unnoticeable unless my skin is dry. So going with a chlorine filter on my shower head is a must! This little guy does the job. I am a fan of a long showers and washing my face in detail. This means my showers are a bit longer but in the name of clearer skin its a must. This little guy helps a lot. My skin is softer, my hair is DARKER, and the soap lathers up really well for some reason. I thought it was in my head but apparently chlorine free water does that.... Chlorine plus an exfoliating scrub used to kill my skin now I look 1 3 years younger and my skin no longer has a chapped or sun burnt feeling. Now I can wash away and take my time. My main gripe is the thing looks cheap and awkward and that''s because, well, it is cheap and awkward! I think it could use a bigger chlorine filter or perhaps an activated charcoal combo filter. This thing does the job. For the price I can''t complain. Its a great entry level shower head to see if this is something you want in your shower. I strongly suggest that you get a new shower head something a bit more on the pricey side. (not the 1.00 apartment maintenance man special) I have found that just blasting my face with water only makes my skin dry and kills my hot water heater also it could be shortening the life of my filter and weakening its performance. So if your going through the hassle of buying a chlorine filter and installing it, you should opt for a waterpik shower head and complete the setup. I did, now my skin looks great my light brown hair is dark brown and the women love it. Plus I shave 2 3 year off my face. Oh and shaving feels better because my skin is not chapped or cracked feeling.
I may upgrade later, its been a year using this specific model.
Good luck and happy showering.

We just have a normal shower and a normal shower head, but the "strain" of adjusting the angle of the head was too much for the extremely poorly designed junction where the filter screws onto the shower pipe, and it broke completely off. How this thing made it through any R&D is beyond me.Want GE GXSM01HWW Shower Filter System Discount?
I bought a lot of units of this product but I was dissapointed when the 2nd one I installed was broken from the base because is manufactured with a fragil plastic, when you tight the product you are in a big risk to broked up. When you don''t use it by several weeks, the water go out in a yellow color that make you feel the water is so dirty, I didn''t expect to have to wait until the yellow color disapear while you are dropping out the water.I spent some time looking for a good filter for my shower. My water is generally very bad, and I started to have quite a few issues with my skin and hair. I used this product because it was the only one I could find locally. It worked for two weeks, but one day the unit snapped off at the joint where it screws into the shower pipe. Not repairable.Spend the extra few dollars to get a shower head with a filter built in. Beware any product that attaches precariously to the shower head and water pipe.

I sent the following message to Water Sentinel on 11/30/10 and have not received a response as of 12/16/10. Will sell my "inventory" at a steep discount! :)The other afternoon the water filter in my KitchenAid refrigerator blew up for no apparent reason. See attached photo. Fortunately I was nearby and able to shut off the water quickly and avoid any major damage, but if I was at work and it pumped water into my house for even a few hours, or traveling for two weeks at a time it could have easily done tens of thousands of damage to my home. I now have four filters left from a six-pack that was purchased recently. Are these filters any good, or should they be tossed and replaced with something of better quality? What suggestions do you have for avoiding this problem in the future, or do we have to shut off the water every time we leave the house?

I have a WSW-1 and the end blew off and started shooting water out the front of the refrigerator and all over the floor. Fortunately we were in the next room when it happened. If we had been away it could have caused thousands of dollars of water damage. I have used this exact filter for several years in our kenmore frig. easy to change and has never exploded or leaked for me. After reading other reviews, I was worried about others having leakage problems, but I still continue to buy and use them, with no issues. Also, I agree with the review back in 2010, which said that this is a "taste-removing ONLY" filter (NSF 42 tested). Even though the Amazon ad continues to state that this filter is BOTH NSF 42 and 53 tested... my latest order in March 2012 showed only NSF#42 on the box. This filter is not a direct replacement for the Whirlpool filter. It is not NSF rated, and has only one filtration element, not the three in the factory filter. They should have made this clear that it was not a replacement, but a less-effective substitute. Perhaps I should have realized this given the price was much less than a true replacement.
Lime-A-Way - Toilet Bowl Cleaner
I''ve tried CLR in the past without much success.
I ordered this after reading all the glowing reviews here, thinking it was the fact I''d used regular CLR and not this ''professional'' product.
I don''t get it, it just does not work! We bought 12 bottles. I''ve used 4 per 3 toilets over the past week! The white (not sure is lime or calcium) deposits are still there. I ended up scrubbing them off with a pumice stone. The deposits were not that thick.
It may work for rust and either lime or calcium, but it does;t seem to work for all hard water. It did not so much as make a dent in our rings.
I''m uploading pictures of what they toilets look like after 4 bottles over 1 week following the manufacturers instructions to the letter. This is how they looked 1 week ago! This stuff puts every other toilet bowl cleaner I''ve tried to shame.
I had hard water build up that wouldn''t come off with a wire brush. It took exactly 20 minutes to go from OMG!!! grungy to shiney bright .. I left it on longer than the directions called for, just in case.
The twisted spout makes the bottle easy and safe to use. No muss, no fuss. Put it on. Go watch TV. Come back. Flush. That''s it folks.

It''s just the best. It takes my toilet from disgusting to sparkling in minutes (and most of that time is spent letting it sit and do its magic). I can''t get this anywhere but here, so I''m happy to buy a case of it at a time. I really can''t recommend this stuff enough. It also smells really pleasant, kind of spearminty? Love this stuff as much as a person can love a toilet bowl cleaner.Best cleaner I have ever used. Unable to find it in local stores. Been trying other cleaners that don''t work as well. Like enough to buy full case for individual use.I like this product so much that I resorted to buying it from the internet when I wasn''t able to find it around where I live (easily anyway). This gives a nice little touch to the other black capped bottles I have I use these steel capped bottles on the table for an informal dinner with guests. These reviewers are cracking me up. Maybe the description has been revised, but it clearly states all over the name and specs this is a plastic bottle with a SS cap and bottom.. Its just a little more fancy then the all plastic bottles... but to rate it low on the fact that you bought a BPA-FREE PLASTIC Carbonating Bottle with Stainless Steel Cap and Bottom, because its plastic... really sad.I would have rated this 5 stars but I got it on a Thursday! UGHI bought 2 of these bottles in order to have a couple of extra ones chilling in the fridge, ready to carbonate. I''m not sure why some people thought these were going to be ALL stainless... I could tell from the photo that they were clear plastic with stainless bottoms and caps only, which is fine for me. Plus it mentions that they are BPA free which implies that they are plastic bottles. I wouldn''t want the bottle to be opaque stainless steel anyway. I like seeing the water level inside so I can tell if it''s water that I''ve already carbonated and how much is left in the bottle. We use these every day... fill, chill, carbonate, drink, rinse and repeat :)I don''t understand people who order something without reading the description carefully or even going to the manufacturet''s site to get maybe more information. This is a great bottle and much better looking than the bottles with black cap & bottom or some other color. The stainless part on the bottom can be screwed off and it can also be screwed back on. Why would anyone want to glue it on. I have had no trouble at all with the caps. They work beautifully. However, I do not wash any of the bottle in hot water. I just rinse them out with tepid water after the contents are consumed. You can buy the bottle from SodaStream for $14.95 plus shipping so the price here is not bad since it includes shipping. You can also buy the bottle at Bed Bath & Beyond for $12 with a 20% off coupon.
Black & Decker CM1010B 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker
"I can''t believe that a coffee maker designed and sold in 2009 has a carafe lip that dribbles coffee down the pot onto the counter not just a little, a lot! I''ve seen plenty of carafes over the past 50 years that either pour perfectly or will dribble just a bit if you pour way too fast, but this carafe deserves an award. You can''t pour anywhere *near* a normal speed without getting coffee all over the carafe, the cup and the counter. How can this be? How could such a design ever get out of R&D? I challenge anyone at B&D to try this carafe and tell me I''m wrong. It is so bad that I have resorted to using a single-cup maker until I either replace this carafe or discard the whole maker and buy another. Question: Is there another carafe I can use with this model that pours properly? Thanks."
*If* I get a response, I''ll post it here.I confess, I didn''t purchase this coffeemaker through Amazon. I bought it about a week ago from a local major chain store.
In the past 10 years, I''ve owned a number of much more expensive, popular, and respected name brand coffeemakers, which I''d researched well before buying, that have made quite good coffee...until they quit, all within 3 years or less. Most of them have had some frustrating issues of some sort, usually with poor pouring and spilling if you got in too big of a hurry. Most of them have had a permanent filter basket and water filters, of which I needed to buy rather expensive replacements for. I''ve had thermal pots, which I like, but which require "preheating" to be most effective, another step that some folks don''t seem to appreciate. In the end, after each of these "deluxe" models failed, I would fall back to an old standby coffeemaker that had been stored away on a shelf. I''ve been using this old machine for some months now, until I cracked the pot. I''ve read tons of reviews of other coffeemakers, which all seem to have many unhappy owners, and finally just brought this one home, figuring I''d only be out $30 if it didn''t last.
To my great surprise and in spite of all the negative reviews, I really like this coffeemaker! I don''t seem to have any of the problems that other reviewers have mentioned. I''ve only been using it for a week but, (knock on wood), it''s doing what it was designed to do, and well, I might add. Let me mention some of the features I think are worth noting.
First off, this is an attractive unit and rather tall, at about 14 inches. The top lifts up to access the water reservoir and filter basket, so you have to pull it out if you store it beneath most cupboards. I enjoy how easily accessible the basket and permanent filter are, which completely lift out for cleaning, either by hand or in the dishwasher, and the quite large, open area to pour water into. The charcoal water filter is located on the right in the back and is easy to change, at least with my average, woman-sized hands. There are cup markings on both the pot and the side of the water reservoir to verify the correct amount has been added.
Many (most) complaints I see here are with the pot and pouring. Before I used my coffeemaker the first time, I ran a vinegar and water solution through it, and then a few pots of plain water, to clean it. I had no problems with spilling, pouring into the reservoir, or out of the pot, or leaks anywhere. I did overfill the reservoir once, not paying attention to the cup markings and just pouring a full pot into it, but that is a clear user error and not a flaw in the design of the unit. After the cleaning was completed, I assembled and placed the charcoal water filter and successfully brewed my first pot, which took about 8-10 minutes.
The included manual has easy-to-follow instructions for setting the clock and timed brew. So far, it works great! There is no battery backup memory so if you unplug it or your power goes out, it all needs to be reset. There is a selection button on the front for brewing 1-4 cups, which slows brewing to extract extra flavor from the smaller amount of coffee. This unit also includes a standard "sneak-a-cup" feature and a keep warm function with a 2 hour automatic shut-off, which I appreciate after having returned home to a charcoal-caked pot too many times.
Of note, I measured the coffee temperature after brewing with my trusty candy thermometer and it was 165 degrees. After sitting on the warmer plate, it was 175 degrees. For me, this is hot enough, even after adding a bit of milk or cream. I don''t know if that suits everyone''s tastes or how consistent this is, but it''s info I have to share.
A new feature that I found interesting was a special cleaning cycle, using white vinegar, which is recommended every 60 brew cycles. The coffeemaker records the cycles and a "clean" light appears on the display to remind you. Conveniently, this is also the recommended time to change your water filter.
One "complaint" I have is that the front of my box claimed to have a "gold-tone" filter basket and I have a nylon mesh one. The gold tone ones I''ve had in the past seemed sturdier, but I''ll have to see how durable this one is with time. I normally use paper filters as well so can''t address the effectiveness of the filter basket related to extremely fine coffee grinds. Another concern is that this unit is not noted on the Black and Decker website so I don''t know if it''s specially made for the chain stores or an older unit, which has been replaced with a new number.
To summarize, I have to say I''m very happy with my purchase. For $30, I not only have a nice looking unit that is easy to use and brews a good cup of coffee. I feel that there are many desirable features that I would not expect at this price. Reassuringly, there is a two year warranty on defects in materials or workmanship. I need to locate a source for the correct water filters, but there is an 800 number in the manual for parts and service that I''ve not yet tried. I will edit my review if I have any other information to share, but, so far, so good.
UPDATEI''ve had this coffeemaker about a month now and I admit, I''ve had some drips. It seems to be most likely to occur when the pot is full, but is intermittent at other times. Pouring slowly seems to be the best way to avoid it, but this does not guarantee it to be drip free. I still like the coffeemaker and am happy with my purchase. I just don''t want to mislead anyone about the dripping. All other functions are performing as designed.

This coffeemaker is a SCANDAL. The lip of the carafe had apparently NOT been fixed as of my purchase date of 12/29/09. My considerable respect for Black & Decker is GONE. The human race has been engineering the lip of a pouring vessel since AT LEAST 2000 BC (Mycenaean Greece). Yup! since 4000 years ago. And probably since much earlier (ancient Egyptian, Chinese?). The solutions to the problem that work are KNOWN. I guess B&D fired their engineers and hired a bunch of swishy "designers." They must have also fired their product test people and hired a few more marketing specialists. Hint: Try pouring out the side of the carafe, avoiding the lip. But remember to curse Black & Decker each time you do it. And it''s not exactly the perfect solution. These folks expect me to buy a POWER TOOL from them?? NOT ANY MORE! I am not "irritated." I am ANGRY!Read Best Reviews of Black & Decker CM1010B 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Here
I purchased this product in June of 2010. We barely use it once a week and within two months the carafe would leak quite a bit while trying to pour a cup of coffee. After a couple frustrating months, I called B&D and was sent a replacement carafe, free of charge. This carafe also started to leak within a couple of months. So I called their warranty number, only to be told that this is not covered under warranty and they show no record of there being a problem with this model. I told them that their repair parts website has two reviews both with leaking carafes!! So I then called the parts & accessories number in my manual and this gal was much nicer. They are going to send a more expensive model, after I send to them a check (minimal) to cover the shipping and handling, and the plug cut off this defective coffee maker. I sure hope the replacement model works better than the CM1010B, or we will be changing brands and find one without a glass carafe.Want Black & Decker CM1010B 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Discount?
