I feel that this product is a necessary feature for the filter system so I can see the level of the water without having to pick up the top tank. However, the shaft that you have to install it with is barely long enough to come through to the inside of the tank in order to put the nut on. There is just enough space to do that. I gave this a 4 star rating for this reason, as well as the fact that I feel that this filter system should automatically include the glass spigot. This woorks great. Not only does it help me keep the filter full with water, it also helps from me overfilling the filter. We bought the travel Berkey for our motor home travels and we are SO glad we did. Even though we are on a city water supply, our poor dogs got sick...until we stopped using tap water in their food and started using the Berkey filtered water. The spigot was a good addition so we can know when to refill. The spigot is bigger than the one that came on the filter so the water comes out faster, which is nice for filling coffee pot! Overall, we are very pleased witht the Berkey filtration system and the add-on spigot.
