It''s a relatively quiet, fast boiler, and is a handsome brushed steel finish. Be aware that the lid is a bit too snug, so you may need to adjust the tangs that hold the thing on (use needlenose pliers). It''s attractive enough and stable on the base. To keep the inside clean, empty out the unit and stand it upside down with the lid off, overnight.
The fact that it''s made in China is not itself a negative. It seems that most electric kettles, cordless or otherwise, do not live up to the reputation of their predecessors.

I had one for 15 years by this manufacturer. That one was durable and workedevery time. It still works but is suffering from wear. The new one is better engineered: no port in the lid to emit burning hot vapor; the handle is positioned out of way of the steam.

I wanted a kettle that would have no plastic parts touching the water. This one did. I returned it.Want Russell Hobbs RH13552 Ellora 1-2/3-Liter Stainless-Steel Electric Kettle Discount?
After reading the reviews of many other electric kettles I decided on this unit being that it was constructed of stainless steel and had minimal plastic. In just under a year, the kettle has developed an electrical fault making it useless the final straw for this poor quality product. Material is stated as stainless steel but you have to remember that there a various qualities of stainless and this kettle clearly falls short of using anything of quality: my kettle has developed rust on the inside! I could understand it if I was doing something crazy like boiling sea water but this is regular household water I''m using. If the supposed ''stainless steel'' is corroded by household water it makes me wonder what type of blend of metal they really used and if any chemicals have been leaching into the water for the last year.I remember Russell Hobbs as being a quality brand (the sort where a kettle by them would last 20 years) but reading some other reviews it seems that the name was sold off and people like myself are ending up purchasing something that, in my opinion, is of extremely poor and dubious quality.
