The unit is good for the price, but placing the filter is very difficult.

Use vaseline on the filter ends to replace, don''t use pliers or force.

The hose holder is plastic, not metal, use care when hanging the hose.

All in all the unit is affordable for the use.

We''ve had a Sprite filter shower head for about 4 years and I''m a big fan--very sensitive to chlorine. Once we installed the new, clear filters, the water pressure has gone down by at least 50%--takes forever to take a shower. Had zero problems w/ the previous style solid white filters. Current shower head has no filter--great water pressure--with chlorine. Ordering from a different company; didn''t really want to.

These cartridges look as above, and do not have the white plastic skin that says Sprite, like my last ones. These don''t seem to work as good as my last order with the white skin label, because my scalp starts itching the day after I shower and shampoo, like what happened before I installed the shower filter. Before I could go for a couple of days (in this cold weather) without my scalp itching. The chlorine smell in our water was terrible before the filter.

I was hesitant at first because I had the white Sprite filters to begin with. After using these and being a repeat buyer I am sold on these. I can tell a difference when its time to change it out, by dry skin and hair. I have seen NO water pressure change at all with these filters. I think they are great. You do have to put some vaseline on the base or it gets stuck as the other reviewer had mentioned.

Clover B7A Hot and Cold Water Dispenser Save 18% Off

Clover B7A Hot and Cold Water Dispenser With Adjustable Cold Water ThermostatI purchased this unit for the convenience of dispensed hot & cold water. I based my decision on researching reviews both here and on other sites.

The product was purchased almost a month ago, I did not get around to installing it until recently as I was waiting for the bottle on the old cooler to empty. But people kept installing new bottles and I didn''t get the chance until a couple of days ago.

The item was received undamaged and in factory packaging. What I did not like was the absence of factory manuals. No problem, I downloaded the appropriate one from the factory website.

So far the product has given good service. The hot water dispensed is adequately hot and the cold water adequately cold. There is no sign of plastic tasting water, unlike other company''s coolers in investigated reviews.

There is no sign of leakage but the installed bottle does have a consistent habit of constantly bubbling as if the water has not settled. The amount of water dispensed from each spigot is a little weak. Not quite the dispensing strength of the older unit.

A side effect of this new dispenser is that everyone is now using it much more often than the old one. After two days the bottle is already more than half drained. This is going to impact future bottle deliveries. Maybe the usage will go down once the novelty has worn off.

The unit is also Energy Star rated, I do not purchase appliances unless they have this rating.

For anyone in the market for an economical hot/cold water dispenser I would recommend this model.

UPDATE (05/04/12)

Was in contact with the manufacturer regarding an item not specified in detail in the service manual.

My question to the company was "Is there an approved cleaning technique for this unit?"

I know how to clean water coolers but the service manual specifically warned against using other liquids other than bottled water. This would inhibit the standard cleaning techniques I know/use.

The prompt answer back from the company:

This is what we recommend:

1. 1 cap of bleach to ½ gal of warm water.

2. Pour a little in the tank and wipe down.

3. Soak the faucets and baffle in the solution.

4. Run a little of the solution through the entire system

5. Rinse thoroughly with clean water, 2 gal at least.

I was relieved to see that the recommended technique is in line with known cleaning procedures for water coolers. But this is straight from the horse''s mouth.

Health protocol advises that this should be done approximately every two months.

I just thought that current and potential owners would like to know.

I needed a dispenser to replace my 4 year old GE unit. These Big Box units, which sell for a little over a hundred bucks, seem to last about 3-5 years with constant use. When I did my research of the current brands sold by the Big Box stores, I wasn''t thrilled with the reviews. None of them seemed to be particularly positive. So I continued to look for other alternatives, willing to pay a little more if I could find a unit that got better ratings. That''s when I found the Clover dispenser. The ratings were good and I was willing to spend a little more for it.

The unit itself is a standard water dispenser, with one hot and one cold spigot. Setup was easy: just clean the exterior, plug it in, and insert a bottle. (I''ve read that some other brands require more extensive cleaning, so the fast setup was nice.) One small negative is that the bottles seem to require a little more effort to insert onto the inner post than my previous units but that''s not a deal breaker. Water flow is very good for the cold side, faster than my previous units. The hot side seems about the same as previous units. One feature that this doesn''t have is an adjustable temperature feature, so if you want that, this isn''t the unit for you.

So far, so good. We''ll see if this outlasts the 3-5 years that previous units lasted.

UPDATE:

Have had the unit for about 8 months now. Still working well, although the flow from the hot water dispenser has slowed down. I suspect that it''s due to scale build-up in the unit. So, I went back to the (rather sparse) manual to find instructions on how to descale the unit...and all it says is to descale the unit (no actual instructions). I went to the company''s web site...and nothing. I emailed the company and was told to "follow the instructions for the descaling liquid." Huh??? After emailing them back, I got a response to "use any descaling product for coffee makers." When I asked for more explicit instructions (since a water dispenser is NOT a coffee maker), I got nothing. I''ve had other water dispensers, and they each had their own particular descaling instructions. As far as I''m concerned, that''s pretty poor customer service. So I''m reducing my rating to 3 stars.

Well, the product is exactly as advertised! Boiling temperature water from a child-safe spout, and refrigerated water from the other one! Fits our multitude of differently shaped water tanks, very simple, easy to use, works great! We had bought a few different water coolers from other sellers and brands, but had to return all of them because they arrived broken or didn''t work as advertised, but this one had absolutely no disappointments :-) Pretty good deal for the money.

We bought this along with 4 Gallon Water Cooler Filter Purifier Save $$$ Place on Cooler Transform Tap Water to Healthy Mineral Drinking Water by Zen Water Online. Wasn''t sure how it was going to work together with this but everything is working great. The reason I selected this cooler was that a reviewer said it did not leak and lasted. We had a leak when an old cooler finally broke and it created a mess. So we want to avoid this for a long time to come... This cooler does run very quiet as well and the water temperature is perfect nice and cool.

Pentek 158643 3/8'' #10 3G Slim Line Clear Filter Housing with Bracket and Pressure Relief
  • Slim filter housing for low-flow applications with space restrictions
  • Clear styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN) for on-site viewing of flow and cartridge condition
  • Holds a 10" x 2-1/2" sediment or carbon filter cartridge (sold separately)
  • Pressure relief button for easier cartridge replacement

Good housing. Uses inexpensive filters. Problem is that it comes with no wrench, no mounting screws, no silicone lube for o-ring and no clue as to what size or part number o-rings to order! Instructions clearly say to replace o-ring every time you replace the filter. So, when it comes time to change filter I have to take the ring out and go shopping for one.

5 Gallon Pail EZ-Strainer 75 micron for Bucket Biodiesel Water WVO Paint SVO WVO Filtering Filter Save 23% Off

5 Gallon Pail EZ-Strainer 75 micron for Bucket Biodiesel Water WVO Paint SVO WVO Filtering Filtertried using this to filter mash for brewing. ended up being really difficult to push the mash through, and i lost a lot of the starches because of how fine the mesh was. best to use a wider mesh for that, but im sure it works great for bio diesel.

I purchased this 75 micron filter for use as a pre-filter to remove sediment from spring water prior to the water being passed through a carbon filter. This filter fit the 5 gallon food-grade bucket I bought for the job. I don''t have a micron-meter to see exactly how tiny the holes in this filter are (queue laugh track), but the screen is a very fine mesh. Because it appears to be exactly what is claimed, the quality looks fine, and the service was good, we''re gonna hand 5 stars for this one.

As a sidebar, I am trying to remove both any sediment, as well as the sulfur smell from the water. And of course any bugs that happen to be there. The filters for the ''britta'' style filters are a bit pricey, so with a bit of research I found a less expensive, more efficient filter by buying a ceramic based carbon filter. You simply drill a center hole in the bottom of a food-grade 5 gallon bucket and mount the filter. The bucket then sits on an identical bucket with a similar hole pre-drilled. in the top (and you drill and attach a spout at the bottom of the lower bucket). I also bought a little filter ''sock'' that goes over the carbon filter to remove any sediment remaining after the water passes through the 75 micron mesh filter under review, which of course fits in the top of the upper bucket with the carbon filter at the bottom. The $15 or so britta style filters I looked at filter about 40 gallons of water before replacement is required, whereas the $25 ceramic carbon filter handles about 3000 gallons. Because of the pre-filtering stages the carbon filter should last quite a while. So for about $50 (minus the buckets, which you can often find for free) I have a pretty robust filter system capable of high volume and economical operation. (the other mentioned filter parts came from homespunenvironmental. add the dot com)

3MFF100Met all my expectations. Had been using a faucet mounted filter for years, which worked fine but was unsightly and kept cracking. I liked that I didn''t have to drill an extra hole in countertop, like you would with a dedicated drinking water filter. No noticeable chlorine taste with the 3MFF100.

Hamilton Beach 80675 Permanent Gold Tone Filter Save 100% Off

Hamilton Beach 80675 Permanent Gold Tone Filter, 8 to 12-CupsThe "Hamilton Beach 80675 Permanent Gold Tone Filter" WORKS VERY NICELY in the "Hamilton Beach 47665 BrewStation Plus 12-Cup Automatic Drip Coffeemaker"!!!!!! : D

Please note & I cannot stress this enough it ONLY works well in the Hamilton Beach BrewStation ***PLUS*** models. It will be loose in the basket, shift around, & be forever uncentered in the cheaper version of the Hamilton Beach BrewStation the next grade down (models 47224, 47114, 47214, 47221, 47111, & the like) which has a totally different basket & housing design than the BrewStation Plus models. Oddly enough, one of the NON-Plus BrewStation models IT DOES NOT FIT is actually pictured on the box for this filter & it erroneously states "Fits All BrewStation Coffeemakers" but it *will NOT fit well at all* in that model, as people have already pointed out in disgust below, & rightly so.

I bought a permanent filter locally made by Mr. Coffee, & it fit the basket circumferance wise but it stood too high to close the lid to the Hamilton Beach BrewStation PLUS. And where I live, it''s the only permanent filter sold in town. So I returned it, & I ordered this model instead. And Wha-Laaa!!! The Hamilton Beach Permanent Filter 80675 works just as nice as a paper filter in the BrewStation PLUS. Maybe nicer, as the water seems to drain better. No wild overflows, & no messy coffee coated water distributer left in the wake of the brewing cycle. Just nice coffee.

It''s too bad Hamilton Beach flubbed & pictured the wrong BrewStation model on the box to go with this filter instead of one of the BrewStation PLUS models that it actually does fit. I''m not surprised to hear people who have the NON-Plus BrewStations are ticked. This filter, like the Mr. Coffee Permanent Filter, will not stay centered in the basket & will shift around loosely in a NON-Plus regular BrewStation basket by about a half inch. My guess is the water at times would completely miss this basket in these NON-Plus models & flow directly into the coffee tank. And I can see where it may perhaps even overflow in other brands that require a higher standing basket, like the Mr. Coffee Filter. This filter fits the Brewstation PLUS basket circumferance much more closely than it will fit in the regular (& more cheaply made) Hamilton Beach BrewStation. It fits so naturally in my BrewStation PLUS, & it''s just become part of the appliance. The only giveaway that it''s really an accessory is that it''s brown, instead of black like the coffee machine.

If you have a Hamilton Beach BrewStation PLUS (& it has to be the PLUS version of the Brewstation, or you will be really unhappy with its performance & your brew) I recommend giving this filter a shot.

I hope my "field work" helps people to avoid buying bad fitting filters, to leave soggy, ripping, spilling, dripping paper filters in the past where they belong, & to finally get their coffee. :)

For those curious about the "Hamilton Beach 47665 BrewStation Plus 12-Cup Automatic Drip Coffeemaker" performance, please see my other reviews.

Yours truly,

"Starbucks Rogers" : D

I have used a gold-tone filter for years so purchase for one to go with my new Brewstation Plus (Model 47686) was a "no brainer." Unfortunately, it was too tall to allow the lid on the brewstation to close properly. Yes, it''s the Brewstation PLUS the one that this filter is supposedly made to fit.

Rather than go through the "return this one and search for one that fits" hassle, I shaved the top of the filter down (exacto blade and a steady hand) until the coffeemaker top would close properly. It fits slightly loosely in the coffeemaker but that doesn''t seem to be a problem (I was concerned that water might spill over the top during brewing and carry grounds out of the basket and into the coffee it doesn''t).

The filter gets five stars for performance but loses one since it didn''t fit the way it was supposed to.

Bottom line: After the "modification" described, this coffeemaker-filter combination of filter makes great coffee.

We just bought a 47665 Brewstation Plus, and contrary to another revier''s comments, this filter is too small. We also have an older/regular brewstation (47224), and the fit mismatch was even worse on that model. So I don''t really know which Hamilton Beach coffeemaker this thing is designed to fit, but it certainly isn''t the 47665 or 47224. We will be returning this item.

My 4 out of 5 is due to HBeach not supplying a permanent gold filter in the first place for the "Hamilton Beach ''The Scoop'' Two Way Brewer Single Serve and 12 cup Coffee Maker". The lil guy works pretty good for HB "The Scoop" machine. It''s not a tightly snug fit, but it''s good enough. The slight sediment that gets through is normal of any permanent filter; it''s all worth it for the oils in the coffee that get trapped with paper filters. Just don''t drink the last cup and you''ll be fine guy. :)

Mr. Coffee 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemakers Save 2% Off

Mr. Coffee FTX49 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black/RedI purchased this coffee maker at the recommendation of a friend and I''m really happy with it so far. It has a selectable brew strength, a defeatable audio alarm that beeps when brewing is complete, a clock, and a delayed brew timer.

The delayed brew timer is nice to have if you want to wake up in the morning with a pot of coffee waiting for you. I''ve used the feature a few times, and I like having it, although most of the time I grind my own beans, so I don''t like to let the grounds sit in the coffee machine overnight because they can get stale. Of course, that''s unavoidable unless you spend the extra money on a machine that also grinds beans before brewing.

This coffee machine comes with a permanent, washable coffee filter that is sturdy, well-made, and washes out in the sink in a matter of seconds. It also comes with a charcoal water filter that is placed above the brew basket. The manual states that these should be changed every month (I wouldn''t be surprised if they last longer than that, though). The replacement filters are inexpensive, but if you already have filtered water, you can leave it out.

Another feature that I really appreciate is the Fresh Brew timer, which allows you to see exactly how long that pot of coffee has been sitting there. If you''re in a hurry, you can also pull the carafe out while the coffee is brewing to pour a cup. Once you put the carafe back in its spot, it continues normally. I''ve tried it a few times, and not a single drop has ever hit the hot plate. Oh, and the temperature of the hot plate is adjustable -I got mine set at the perfect temperature so it doesn''t burn the coffee if it''s sitting there for a while.

My only complaints (and believe me, I''m trying pretty hard to come up with them): the display, while attractive, is a little on the bright side -a switch to adjust the brightness would be nice, even if it was just a High/Low 2-way switch. An internal battery to keep the clock accurate in case of a power outage would have been a bonus too. Finally, even though it looks great and feels pretty strong, it''s almost entirely plastic, so it doesn''t have that solid "I''m going to outlast your children" feel to it that it might have if it had more metal in the construction.

All in all, I feel like I''m cheating it by giving it only four stars, but it''s not quite 5 stars either. It would be a 4.5 for me if I could do that. :)

So what we have here is my stubborn insistence that all my kitchen appliances be red and fairly inexpensive. Thus this Mr. Coffee unit got dumped into my shopping cart last year. This coffee maker has numerous problems but with some careful planning, as long as it doesn''t quit, you can make it work for you.

First, the carafe leaks at the top under the rim. No problem--just keep a towel handy and once you''ve poured the water in the unit *very* carefully (keeping it absolutlely level) bring the pot to the sink and rotate/tip it so all the water comes out here and doesn''t leak onto your counter. Then use a towel to wipe it dry, place it in its brewing spot on the hotplate and you are good to go.

Next, make sure you put the coffee pot on a cutting board or other similar surface--this will allow you to catch the leaks (from underneath and the top) when the water drips down without staining your countertop. As an added convenience the handle on the cutting board can be used to pull the unit out to fill the water. Very handy!

Lastly, make sure you put in twice as much water as you think you need but 1/2 the coffee grounds needed for that amount of coffee--because somehow between the pouring of the water and the finished cup of coffee about 35-50% of the water will go MIA. Where it goes remains a mystery and even my want-to-be-a-detective 12 year old can''t figure out where it could be going. We''ll just consider that the 8th wonder o.k.?

So, after all that (what''s a little work after all...for my java) you should be in receipt of a perfectly well brewed cup of coffee. No problem.

Seriously---best look elsewhere. Unless you are addicted to red appliances and are broke--and if that''s the case don''t forget if you position it by a window it could function as a homing beacon for your spouse in the dark or rain OR as a great nightlight for your child who needs to make that middle of the night potty run--yes folks the lighted clock is really great but I would recommend you cover your eyes and, much like the sun, do not look at it directly. It must be some military patented thing meant for the troops or something.

I wish I did some research before I purchased this machine. Well.. for the 1st week, everything seemed good. Made great tasting coffee and worked as it should.(I''ve always used the timer function so I never actually watched while it was brewing). Well, one day, I came down stairs little bit earlier than normal and observed some steam escaping from the top while it was brewing. It didn''t bother me too much and I didn''t make an issue out of it because I assumed this was normal for all coffee machines.. or is it??

next day, while I was observing, I heard something pop from the machine. What happened was that because the top lid gets hot from the steam, it expands and it popped the lid off and would not close properly.(so even more steam escaping....)

Again, because it was still making great coffee, I let it do it''s thing.(and the lid closed fine after it cooled down)

Well, starting 3rd week, I noticed that the machine would not make full use of the water in the reservoir. Lets say if I put in 8 cups of water, it would brew about 5-6 cups and stops (Leaving rest of the water still in the reservoir)

4th week, it just stopped brewing period. No coffee in the decanter. Machine turns on and you can hear the water sucking noise and bit of steam coming off from the top for few mins and nothing. luckily, I still had my receipt and returned it.

I just think this coffeemaker is poorly designed. Or maybe I just had a lemon. But, if you are going with this one, save your receipt/box just in case. (and yes, I cleaned it regularly as it was recommended on the manual)

I have had the older version of this coffee maker for years, maybe 5 years and have had no problems with it until I dropped the filter holder and it broke. My fault, not the coffee makers fault. For the previous negative reviews: What coffee maker do you not have to place the decanter just right to get the coffee in it? Also, there is a temperature knob that will keep your coffee as hot or cool as you want it, just turn the knob to the highest setting. Also, how long does it take someone to pour a cup of coffee? The pause feature is for 30 seconds. I can pour three cups in that amount of time. Great machine at a great price. Going to buy another one since they don''t sell the filter holder separately.

We have been using these filters for 5 years now with our whole house filter. Our well water has a lot of iron in it and these filters do a great job of keeping it out of our inside lines. We do have to change the filter about every 4-5 weeks, depending on how much it rains, but that is just because of the sediment and iron in our well.

Buy Culligan P5-D Level 4 5 Micron Sediment Filtration 2 Pack Replacement Cartridges Now

Let me preface my review with the reason I purchased these.

I installed an under sink Reverse Osmosis system, as well as buying a new HE Washer. Looking to protect my investments from the hard water I am subjected to from the municipality in which I live, I turned to a whole house filter. I did not see any immediate repercussions from the washer with respect to my water quality but I did however see the damage my water was doing to the RO system. The RO filters are supposed to last 6 months or so and my first set lasted just under two months, even with the whole house filter installed.

I decided to switch to these 5 micron filters for the whole house filter and have seen a marked improvement in the lifespan of the RO filters. I change these filters once a month and in that time frame, they go from their sterile white color to looking like a huge piece of copper, due to the amount of rust that it traps.

So in short, they are a necessary evil in my case. I wanted to supply RO water to my family but with the quality of water being supplied to my home, it was simply not affordable to do this, until I was able to introduce these filters into the system. At $4 a piece this is a small price to pay to keep my appliances working and my water clean and drinkable.

I recently tried these filters, purchased from Amazon, after a growing dissatisfaction from carbon Omni filters I had been using. I only started buying the Omni, when I could no longer find the GE made carbon filters I had been buying from local grocery chains. Anyway, these Culligan Level 4 filters are awesome. My well water contains a high concentration of iron and these filters do a fantastic job of filtering that and other sediment out. Also, I''ve noticed a drastic reduction in *rotten egg* odor when using hot water. My water feels and tastes much softer and cleaner since using these filters. Also, when doing laundry, my clothes look more clean, which I attribute to the filter doing its job. The only reason I give the product 4 and not 5 stars is that I have to change them out about every 4 weeks, which isn''t very long life. But that probably has a lot more to do with the fact that my water is so hard....so the filter life is used up quickly. Great product and I just reordered and will continue to do so as long as the price stays this good.
