I have been in contact with the manufacturer (Culligan) over the past few months, and after some limited success at getting them to respond (which was a struggle I might add), they have eventually stopped replying to my emails. This is very poor for public relations. At first, I got several excuses as to why this was not their problem, the most interesting being their claim that the filters I bought were not made by Culligan because they were not purchased directly from Culligan. I informed them that I purchased them from Amazon.com, but they still maintained this argument. I scanned the label on the filter, which clearly shows their logo and contact information (which I had used to contact them) and they became even less responsive. Then I placed the next logical step in the investigation for them to answer, and that is when they ceased to respond altogether. This statement was that if they claim they have no material defects, and since they feel the filter is a counterfeit "knock off", then why haven''t they pursued legal action against the supplier to Amazon? I must conclude that they indeed discovered a material defect with their product and don''t wish to continue the discussion for fear of later litigation.
I have since researched and found alternate brands of filters (I use both a sediment filter and carbon filter in my system) and will avoid ever using Culligan products again. I will also recommend to anyone that I can to avoid this manufacturer. That is what has compelled me to write this review.

Nice filter. I was having problems with the blue top filters not working at all, I determined they were a few millimeters too short, allowing the water to bypass the media all together. These have more rubber at the ends and I''m getting a better seal, capturing much more rust. Plus, they are cheaper than Home Depot and fit my GE housing.Read Best Reviews of Culligan CP5-BBS Level 4 Heavy Duty Sediment Replacement Cartridge Here
I echo the other reviewer about replacing this regularly. My filter disolved into a lump of sludge. Hope it doesn''t plug up the rest of my plumbing. I''ve used Pentek filters for years with no issues, but these filters just broke down and washed away. Literally a pile of paper and two rubber end caps floating around in the housing.Want Culligan CP5-BBS Level 4 Heavy Duty Sediment Replacement Cartridge Discount?
I can''t say I noticed much difference in my water after replacing the 50 micron filter with this one because I don''t have a big problem with sediment. But I am pleased that the flow rate in the house doesn''t seem any different. It''s been installed about 2 months now. I expect it won''t last as long as the 50 version but if my water is cleaner then it''s worth it.UPDATE Sept. 17, 2010
I learned something the hard way -CHANGE THE FILTER REGULARLY! I was waiting for the flow rate to go down as a sign to change this filter but it never decreased. Then a month or two ago I noticed the water starting to smell and it really got pretty bad. I''m on a well so wasn''t sure if it was the ground water changing but then thought of the filter. Oh my gosh, it was gross. Black & slimy & stinky and the paper had torn so the water was flowing right through with no filtering, hence no pressure loss.
This was about 6 months use on a well (no chlorine) which was way way too long at it turned out. I''d say the filter should be changed every 2 months.Multiple water main breaks and living in a trailer has resulted in my having to use the Culligan heavy duty filter. With this filter I don''t have to remove the faucet strainers. It does the job simply and easily. I even travel the U.S and Canada with the canister attached to my hoses.
