I have been using several other types of whole house carbon block sediment and odor removal water filters over the last 3 or 4 years now. Our water is supplied by a deep well (540 feet) and the water has been tested as quite good except for an odor which might be hydrogen sulfide but that has not been verified in testing. Anyway, until I installed the first Watts Carbon Block Filter I have had to change other brand carbon water filters every 2 or 3 weeks. The Watts filter, even though we have had unusually high water usage during December, is still going strong relative to odor removal after 3 weeks. I am projecting that I will not have to change the water filter more than once a month the way the Watts filter is performing so far.
I read one review on the web that stated that the Watts filter lasted longer in that families experience and that is why I looked into trying the Watts product. I have heard that a carbon filter using coconut shell based carbon is more effective at odor removal and that type of carbon is evidently what Watts uses in their product.
