Works well, it is not my first cartridge, I''ve used a shower filter for years now. It will last more than a year for one person showering daily, but it is helpful to have a coupling for back flushing the unit.

Additionally, it is difficult to install this filter in the housing without large water pump pliers, medium pliers, and Teflon tape. If you don''t use these tools and tape to reseal the cartridge in the housing, the housing will leak.

Last, as the cartridge ages, hot and cold will mix differently, and sometimes it will take a subtle adjustment of the hot water to get anything other than cold water out of the head. I''m not sure if this applies to newer thermostatic valves.

And I love what they do. The reason I give it 3 stars instead of 5 is because it seems as if the quality has gone down recently. The filters do not seem to last as long as they once did. I can tell the filter needs to be replaced when my skin begins to smell like chlorine again. Otherwise, they work great.

I live in Southwest Florida, and in the summer the water must be additionally "purified" with extra chlorination product to minimize the growth of bad things in the water. That is probably good. The bad news is that the water in the shower will dry your skin like shoe leather, and the chlorine odor from the hot water is like an overdone swimming pool.

I got the rainshwr filter a few years back and it is perfect, removing all of the odor and skin-damaging properties of the chlorine. This last filter is number 5, I believe, and worth every penny.

One filter will last 6-8 months, and is a must-have down here. They are very easy to replace, and as one reviewer noted, you will need a little bit of Teflon tape to get a leakproof seal.

I love the way this water filter makes my water feel. I have a great big shower head and my favorite thing is to take a shower and relax after a long day at work. I also love that it is eliminating the chlorine especially for my kids. I hate all the chemicals in water.
