I purchased this product in conjunction with the 3M Filtrete water bottle filter system as a gift for a family member. They were buying bottles of water and then refilling them with tap water. Not only were they not understanding why visitors to the house didn''t want a bottle of water (not wanting to "swap spit") but they also would have been drinking regular tap water. When I first saw this product, I knew I had to buy it as a gift for them. It has been great! The system is easy to set up, all the water is filtered (this area has very hard water), it''s enviornmentally friendly, and the bottles are dishwasher safe. The bottle is 2 pieces. The very top of the bottle screws off, therefore the body of the bottle, as well as the actual opening, get clean. The filter system comes with 4 bottles. I bought extra bottles, which come 2 to a package. That way they have plenty to have clean, cold water in the refrigerator, while some may be waiting to be washed.

I do love my new Filtrete system, which I have reviewed elsewhere, but it does have one major drawback. I like to keep a bottle of cold water in my purse when I go out, but can''t do that with these bottles, since they leak! If you lay them on their side, water drips out both around the stopper and around the edge of the top. These are fine for drinking water at home, but just can''t replace the portability of store-bought plastic water bottles.

These are great, and there''s just one minor flaw in them. After a while, when you go to close them, some of the tops pop back out. I have 6 Filtrete Water bottles and 2 of them don''t stay closed. But I still love the Filtrete Water Station, great idea!
