Mine is going on its 3rd year and still going strong. I replace the wick twice a season due to the hard water I have. I have mine upstairs between all the bedrooms and on the lowest speed it is very quiet. It has no problem keeping at least the upstairs at a comfortable humidity all winter long.

I have used this unit for two years and it has performed flawlessly. Our well water is naturally soft and I have replaced the evaporator wick just once a year. I have used the fan on setting one and the humidity setting about half until it gets so cold out that it builds up on the windows and I reduce accordingly. We heat with a wood fired furnace. We add bacteria treatment with every fill. I highly recommend this machine.

The walls of the unit are very thin/flimsy panels of plastic. When we opened the box, one complete corner was broken so the base coudn''t even be put together. Additionaly, one end wall panel had a big cr tack in it as well. I''d done extensvie research on home humidifiers and other than the Essick brand there just isn''t much out there to choose from. None of the Essick brand humidifiers get very good reviews/ratings. I took a chance on this one and unfortunately it has to be returned. Not taking another chance on the Essick brand. Our previous console humidifier finally died after about 30 years of great service. Absolutely no comparision to the inferior brands offered today.

I bought this product nearly 11 months ago -not from amazonand I have been so helpful against a very dry place (13%-40% humidity level). It helped me so much against my allergies that show up only under dry weather conditions and already saved my neck since I can breath so well with this product. It has 3 speed levels and a humidity sensor. I use first speed level -and it is enough most of the time-. It expels humid air in a uniform way and lasts like 13 hours per refill. This gave me enough time to sleep well. Notice, my apartment is small but for its size this humidifier is very good. I used other smaller ones (that doesn''t have a big fan like the ESSICK) and no one worked for me.
