I have used this unit for over a year now. It does collect water in the gauge area. There is a rubber plug on the back that can be removed to drain it and even flush it out with tap water as needed. Empty the water out and reconnect. Keeps accurate measurement of water pressure.I have originally thought this was defective but with use found it is a big deal. Take a long time for it to collect water to even interfere with reading the gauge (over six months). The water doesn''t leak out of the unit itself, just fills the unit internally.
