I found this pre-filter unit to be great quality and very easy to setup. Not sure why the other review mentioned poor quality fittings. Mine came with John Guest which is known as the industry standard.

its a big cheap filter, and when you use it before reverse osmosis and after a water softener you will see a nice change in the water, while not having to change out reverse osmosis system filters as often

a side note, the wannabe sharkbite fittings on this thing are complete garbage, they break under pressure (so it could flood your house) but if you buy the right sharbite fittings (hydrologic''s 1/2" line is the same as Sharkbite''s 3/8" line) then youll be fine
