43501 Coffeemaker by PROCTOR SILEXI bought this from a local store a little less than a year ago. It worked great up until about a month ago when it started giving me fits. I think the problem is that it is getting "old" and the plastic on the top lid is becoming weaker. Every morning I plug the coffee maker in before jumping in the shower. When I get out I have a nice pot of coffee waiting for me. Not now! Sometime in the 10 minutes or so it takes me to return, the top lid pops open allowing the water/steam to escape from the machine instead of going through the brew basket and making coffee. So, now I come out to a kitchen that has been "steamed" by my coffee maker and just a half of a cup of coffee. I''ve watched it several times on weekends and have found that once the plastic on the top lid starts to get warm, the plastic bends enough that the little tab that holds the lid down comes undone and the lid pops up.

Overall, this was a good coffee maker for the price (I think I paid around $10 on sale at my local store). Had I paid more for it, I would be unhappy about the short life span (less than a year). But, since I''ve used it to make at least 1 pot of coffee each day I guess I''ve gotten my money''s worth. If you can get it cheap enough, then go ahead and buy it, just know the life expectancy may not be as long as you had hoped.
